What DON'T they have? Answer: ACE Hardware. Well, they do, but it's a very small part of the store and it's not that impressive of an ACE. I wouldn't go there for the ACE Hardware aspect, but perusing the aisles I noticed that they do carry some unique and also niche items that other ACE Hardwares may not necessarily carry. That aside, wow, what a comprehensive store. Everything outdoorsy: camping, hunting, fishing, BBQ, etc. Tons of clothing, which is probably close to 40% of the store. Then there is the toy section. Huge. Good place to shop for toys. Lots of unique offerings, too. Then there is the candy/snack section. You will spend 20-30 minutes easily going through the aisles there and seeing what they have. I dare you to walk out empty-handed! LOL Then there is this bin section. Lots of sort of cheap (not necessarily cheaply built) stuff. Some aisles have kitchen or household gadgets and things, lots of aisles have what I would call Christmas stocking stuffer kind of items that include toys and games and novelty items. Kitchen and household goods section is huge. Employees are friendly, mostly teenagers. Good peeps. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? What a store! They have a little bit of everything it seems. I stopped in to look at the ice fishing tackle. I found a very nice selection with some of the better prices around. They also had a freezer with various types of bait. I grabbed a couple Lake Shore ice rods and some swedish pimple lures. This is listed as a hardware store, which is at least partially right, but it is way more than that. A good 40% of the store is taken up by clothing and there is a mining section, if you want to do you a little of that, as well as toys, a zombie apocalypse section, which seems to be survivalist stuff, various foodstuffs, some of which I've seen nowhere else, farming stuff, and just a pretty wide assortment of things. Their slogan is "if we don't have it, you don't need it," which I suppose is just about right and in the 3 decades plus I've lived here, never been me to one of these...mostly because the only one I knew of was up in Ogden and it looked like they sold railroad ties, which I've not ever been much in need of. I would ordinarily be kind of starry eyed with a place like this and wander around in wonderment, and I did for a bit, but it was pretty blunted by the sign at front saying everything was subject to inspection and then the many, many staff people (there are a lot of those) eyeing me up like I was getting ready to boost something. I'm not what you would call young and what dressed in work attire at the time, which I suppose you'd call business casual, so I found that entire thing bizarre. If anything, I look more like the type of person who is there to spend money. Maybe they have a shoplifting problem there or in the area generally, I dunno, but I do know that the last time I was eyed up like that was back when I had long hair and dressed a lot more in a ragamuffin style. I suppose it could have been the individual staff and I'd normally think that were it not for the sign at the front door. As a first-time patron, I found that super off-putting. That aside, selection here is good and vast, but also kind of quirky, which I liked. Prices are generally reasonable as well, from what I looked at, and I will probably drop by again here and there, now that I know this location exists, to see what new goodies they have, but I very seriously do not appreciate their positioning and think they would do well to dial the attitude back some. read more

This place is pretty dang cool. Whatever you are looking for they have it. The store is huge but each time we have gone it is stocked, clean, and the staff super friendly. Walked into Smith and Edwards today, looking for a tool and some new steel toes. The sign inside the door read "All bags and persons subject to search." I know, I should've just left. Found some toes. Tried them on and went to look for tools. Oh no "you can't just walk around with your new boots, I have to escort you to the front," announced the snotty old such and such. I put the boots sorta half-assed back in the box, then put the box on the wrong shelf, and left $30 worth of socks in the aisle. That act of rebellion didn't help. People treat others this way because it is allowed. They thought I was going to steal from them from the time I walked through the door. It's much more likely I'd have prevented a theft. I am a vet, former first responder, and a healthcare pro. Getting much easier to kick these types of businesses to the curb. Oh well. There are plenty of local places hungry for my dollar. What a fun new store location! The location is nice and the store is much bigger inside than it appears. There is an abundance of employees around asking if you need assistance which is nice. I love looking at all of the available toys and Knick knacks. It brings a bit of nostalgia as I have been to the other location many times growing up. Good memories for sure. This is the kind of store you go to not knowing what you need or want, but they have some peculiar items that you wonder how you've lived this long not knowing they existed! They have troves of clothes, toys, socks, shoes, hats, outdoor equipment, candies, etc. This store is very well stocked and well kept. Everything was clean and organized. We visited on this occasion to find something for my nephew for his 3rd birthday. We found a couple toys and a cool flooring book thing. I felt like we got quite the bargain on them as well. Everything I looked at was fairly priced. I could probably spend hours wandering. I would also suggest this place for a one stop Christmas shopping destination, there truly is something for everyone! read more

This is my new favorite store! When I walked in, I kind of felt like I was in the South again. Flannel shirts, boot cut jeans and Carthart everywhere. None of that fake, intrusive customer service you see so much of these days; just let you shop and really help you out when you ask for it. It's really a grown many candy land with real clothes, boots, fishing equipment, guns, camping and hiking equipment, and even a hardware store right there. My youngest son really liked the toy section, which I admit, is really awesome. I'll be going back there for years to come! read more

For the longest time, Smith & Edwards was merely a colorful cartoon billboard and long warehouse north of Ogden. I lived out in Farr West for awhile, and the first time I went in, I was amazed by the bounty. It was part military surplus store, part .... a little bit of everything else on planet earth. Their sign that can be seen from I-15 reads "WE HAVE ANYTHING YOU WANT ... IF WE CAN FIND IT". They have always lived up to their ANYTHING model. The new location, smack dab in the middle of the SLC Valley on Redwood Road. Camping, hunting (guns and archery), fishing, cold weather gear, home improvement, camo for miles, farming, cowboy (hats and boots), horse and Western tack, rope (and high quality paracord), candy, toys, and yes, there's a section labeled "Zombie Apocalypse". Save yourself an hour-plus to make your way through all their stuff. The only disappointment is the military surplus aspect: The new store has much less of it. I'm hoping this improves over time. Still, there's no store in Utah like Smith & Edwards. Enjoy! read more

I give this low mark simply because the store and its employees have no preparation for Covid. We shopped there last night and not a single employee was seen wearing a mask. There were perhaps 300 in the store as it was pretty busy and we only saw two other family with masks. I want to think the store manager has conducted some training as we saw several employees with their mask below their chin. Did not see a checker wearing gloves. If I was blind let me know. I'm sure I was filmed checking out. Barriers between cashier and customer were a joke. Our cashier just worked beside it as if it was not see through. read more

Oh be still my heart. I love shopping at this place. From the candy to the kitchen gadgets to the hunting, fishing and camping stuff, they have it all. I picked up some bottles for salad dressing. Our first trip here and we were absolutely thrilled with it. The staff are amazingly helpful. Anyone who walked by us asked if we had any questions. The sporting goods manager, Curtis C., helped us immensely. He was very patient and very knowledgeable about the items we were looking for, and he made sure we got everything we needed and every question answered before moving on. His service was superb. We love to go to the store and I would normally give it a much better review but after visiting this past Saturday I had to post an unfavorable review in hopes that it might help management. As we passed from one side of the store into the hardware section and passed the long counter on the west end we overheard the woman behind the counter telling a customer that he could take his mask off and he didn't have to wear it. I understand it is difficult for employees of retailers to actually enforce mask wearing but this is quite the opposite. Actually telling a customer to violate A county ordinance designed to support public health and our heroic healthcare workers is disgusting and inappropriate. Shame read more

Its the COUNTRY BOY STORE! You can get camo, a sleeping bag, chainsaw, food, and toys all under one roof. I was amazed at the selection and the high brands that they offer. Very nice boots, and fishing supplies. The yard tools and options rival any big box outlet. hunting supplies are not that good, and similar to more middle of the road options. Lot's of interesting stuff for the kitchen or projects that you find yourself saying, "wow, I never knew they made something like that"! Worth the trip for sure. read more

The little brother of the bigger store up north. I visited the week they opened and despite a few shelves that were still being stocked it looked pretty good and I would definitely stop by again. The surplus selection is much larger up north but they had a small selection here. They had a zombie apocalypse section that had some prepper stuff like water storage, heating fuel and other misc items. I did feel the prices I saw seemed a bit on the higher side though. Stopped in to check for archery supplies and gun selection. Love the openness and layout of this new store location. As for the Hunting/Gun/Archery area *WOW* They are still dialing in this area based on customer traffic and needs. Some years ago, I visited with the late Bert Smith, the founder. He said, "I have a reputation for buying in bulk if the price is right." He then illustrated by pointing out an item that he purchased in bulk after a foreclosure, and was selling for a profit at less than the cost of manufacture! On some unique items, S&E has incredibly low prices. I like the store because of the wide variety of merchandise that you can feel with your hands and see with your eyes, and otherwise could only find on the internet. Crap! 100% garbage! I bought a drill combo in Utah county at an ace hardware store, it makes strange noise while under load and the battery only lasts 20 minutes and isn't even strong enough to put in the lag bolts for my cabin, I went to return it and RUSS in hardware denied my return because I admitted to using the drill and impact. "Ya I tried it out to make sure it would do what I needed" he told me that since I admitted to using the tools it was now considered "used" and there was no way he would take it back, apparently if you charge a battery and try it on one lag bolt you voided your warranty and return/exchange options, oh and because I bought it at a different Ace Hardware they don't do returns or exchanges for that other branch! I'll stick to Lowe's, Home Depot and even Harbor Freight! They all do warranty exchanges or returns for each other! Ace is 20% more expensive on average than Lowe's and home depot read more

We took friends from out of town for a quick look and they loved it too. I don't care for the person they have at the front door now. Not happy right now with the service in this store. I'm sorry I have to even give it one star I'd do zero if I could. My husband tried on multiple pairs of shoes and we decided on the pair that were on sale with a big $79.99 sale sign under the display. We worked with an cute female associate who was getting us the shoe sizes in the back room and told her we liked this particular pair and confirmed with her they were the price listed on the sign on the wall. We proceeded to the checkout and about 3/4 the way there, my husbands feet were hurting so bad that he stopped on a display bench and put on the new pair of shoes and his old in the box and proceeded the twenty feet to the register to check out. Well turns out they rang up at $105 and after spending about 20 minutes talking to three different people the $79 price was not to be honored. The old wench at the register then told me that she couldn't take the shoes off the receipt because he worn them on concrete!!! I had to get nasty with her and tell her their whole freakin store is concrete even in the shoe department and I wasn't paying and extra $25 when the associate flat out told us the price was $79. Very disappointed after today's visit I will definitely be fully supporting AA Callister, Cal Ranch and IFA after today. This used to be my fav store and I'd travel to Far West to go there.
