This school has been the best. I did the Echo Program as we'll as my cousin. We've both had a great experience here. The program I did was weekends (21 months) which they offer a weekday class(18 months) everyone on the campus is great to work with. They are very understanding and they WILL listen to all of your concerns. If something about the school was upsetting me I let the right people know and it was fixed. They make an effort to improve your education. As for teachers: Dr. Bhaa is the best to learn from! He is such a great instructor. He will push you and make you learn what your supposed to know. Harland is extremely informational and will go the extra mile to help you out. Lab Teachers: Michael Lee is AMAZING!!!!!(echo tech) he makes you do so much more than most lab teachers and he wants perfection. You can complain all you want but he will make you the best Echo Tech. Der'l Smith will also be there to help you! If you need him to explain something bc you don't understand he will help you. He's a great scanner. I also want to mention Mark Galliano, he's the director and he will make things happen. I had to unfortunately file a complaint but it was handled properly. I had major schedule changes due to my work schedule and he was great and worked with me to get what I need. He was awesome. For the most part machines are good, could be better quality but hey do have lots of machines, open scan time, come in whenever you want. As far as certifications... You can get your license no problem. The LAST DAY of your extern send in your transcripts. Once your done you automatically qualify for the CCI License. (Which you can get hired with) Other license are: SPI (physics, you can get during school) After a year of work then you can take the ARDMS for Echo. (Only test requires year of work) CRAT(EKG Tech) (Keep in mind, if you pass CCI right after extern you can get a job. Don't let people tell you otherwise. They are misinformed) Overall the school is good. At times disorganized but Every place needs a little work here and there but worth the education. read more

There's only a few instructors who are really there to teach something useful and help you but other then that clinical a are a joke our first semester we sat in a class watching YouTube videos on nursing I could've done that alone at home.. And now I heard they got worse and they try to excuse my language but fuck you over with the ATI if u don't get a a certain level even though it's a passing level you have to pay and retake it. They're trying to open up an RN program but I doubt they'll be able to the schools just a joke. It maybe 2k cheaper then ACC but I would rather spend a little more for a better education. read more

I attened the Vocational Nursing program, in the beginning it was very rocky no foundation the instructor was very unsure of what he was teaching but as time went on the program became better Mr. Dua was very patient and through a lot of time was spent to make sure we passed the NCLEX, needless to ssy I passed and I did very well I might add the school even offered IV Certification for those who passed on first try. Like any other private nursing program there was a lot of drama among the students it comes with the territory tooo many females under 1 roof lol but other than that it was a good experience. **all alleged** made a very uneducated decision and applied for WCUI. it looks nice on the outside, student handbook states professionalism is very important. i thought maybe it would be good. i passed the entrance exam with a 30/30. as i was undergoing the next steps for possible enrollment, i was going to partake in an interview. during the interview, there were other students and the directors did not ask us questions. one of the directors, douglas boyd, was in a lounge recliner chair during the entire one hour interview of them telling us things we already knew; because if anyone had spoken to their counselor, their counselor wouldve already told them these things. i did not act inappropriately nor unprofessional, yet they profiled me based on my medical prescription and my piercings. i was denied into the school without any REAL reason why. when told i could speak to the program director(s), nobody reached out to me and i was allegedly "ghosted". they dont actually care about your smarts, as long as you look "good" for the school and can give them money. i wish i could give 0 stars. please do not come to this school as it is a waste of money and time, they arent even accredited by CAAHEP. possibly for good reason. read more

I went to school here for LVN. Mr. Lee is an awesome theory instructor. Every term you have to pass am ATI that is easy to pass if you study, and read your ATI book. That test is very similar to the NCLEX. The clinical sites are not the best, but I was there to learn and kept an open mind and was able to get alot of my skills in. I was there to learn and be successful and not to slack off. School is not cheap which I paid most of it out of pocket. The school itself is very unorganized. Dr Hany was our instructor for our last term. He was a very good Instructor and taught us as if we were Drs. I took the NCLEX Review all 6 weeks, took my NCLEX and passed with flying colors on the first try. I felt very prepared. This school is not the best but if you study hard and dedicate yourself you will succeed. Take advantage of all of the programs and resources this school has to offer. read more

I don't know what's going on in peoples lives that they sound all bitter when it come to writing reviews. I am a student at this school, I am in the LVN program and just like EVERY school it has its good and bad qualities. There hasn't been a school I've attended and its perfect. I'm finally in my final term of the LVN program and I love everything I done. I don't know if people know how hard it is for a school to get a clinical site. I'm just happy the school has clinical sites to go to. There has been surrounding schools that have been shut down for not meeting what the board of nursing states. This school follows what its needed. The instructors are VERY knowledgeable about the topic presented. The way people understand it, well its up to them. You are in a nursing program, remember that! If you really don't understand what is being presented, then probably you might need to look at a different career. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a perfect student. I needed some help in certain subjects, which the school helps out in that as well. If you need help you can easily schedule a tutor with one of the instructors. The school has gotten better from day 1 that I started the program. They got new rooms and literally re-organized and re-structured the whole nursing department with new class rooms, clinical sites, even the labs in the school. Since I'm almost done with the program I won't have the opportunity to try out the new lab, but from what it looks like, looks very promising. My class started with 30 students and till today in our final term still have 30 students. The instructors really did say at the beginning that our 30 student class will get smaller through the terms, but little did they know was that we ALL want to become a nurse really bad. We started with 30 and still hold our 30 students. I say that because if you really put yourself to do this, you can do it. There has been classes in the past that has had the 30 students and end up with half of that towards the end. Some leave for personal reason, others because they hate it because they're not getting it then talk so much crap about the school or instructor when in reality they're the once to be blamed for. As stated before, there is no perfect school, there is no perfect student. One must do this as they can. If you really want something and really work for it, you know it will work for you. This location has been fairly new so the reviews left before about the schooling is understandable why would they talk bad about the school. Again WAS fairly new and they really have been working on fixing things. I'm just glad I'm finally almost over this chapter of my life. I've met a ton of new people both in school and at the clinical sites, made new connections to network, and just learned a lot. Can't wait to start on my next chapter of life. Which is for my RN. Only thing I can say is: -" It never hurts to check out schools, have your options open, see what each one has to offer. Make a list of what you're looking for in a school and go with the one that has more of what you want." West Coast Ultrasound Institute offers a great hands on experience. The instructors are all unique and have their own way of doing things, so you learn various methods and can choose what works best for you. Everyone is friendly and helpful. There is always someone there to help explain something or answer any questions you may have. The class sizes are small, which is a benefit that gives you more one-on-one time between you and your instructor. They offer various machines to learn and practice on to prepare you for your career in the ultrasound field. Unlike some of the other reviews state, WCUI is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. Overall, this school exceeds expectations and does its part in preparing you for your future career. read more

This review is pertaining to the staff and not the classes. The staff seems a bit unprofessional. I had set up an appointment with one of the admissions representatives so I could register for classes, He took 4 days to respond. He had apologized and said he was out of the office which is understandable. I replied then he took another 2 days to reply with available appointments. The constant delay in responses was irritating. Is he always out of the office? And if he is, why doesn't he check his emails when he's out? Especially if he knows potential students want to get things done with their registration. I chose an appointment date and time, he never replied after that. No confirmation or anything. How am I supposed to know if he received my email? I didn't want to show up to the appointment, then have him tell me he never received my email. It's professional To send an email confirmation so I know the appointment is set in stone. I decided to not register here anymore because the way you are treated by staff when you are trying to apply will most likely be your experience as a student as well. read more

Would definitely give 0 stars if I could. I feel like from the beginning they were very deceiving in the projection that most of their students get jobs as new grads. Wcui will tell you that their school is accredited make sure you ask what accreditation they have because they are not Accredited by CAAHEP. Most to nearly all jobs will require you to have graduated from a school that is CAAHEP accredited. Also after graduation they will tell you that as long as you work for a year you are qualified to take your ARDMS boards once you've worked for a year the thing is if you are not from a CAAHEP SCHOOL most Establishments won't even consider you. I mean think about other schools that are accredited start their internship right when they start school. They scan live patients with real indications from day 1 vs us wcui who only get three months of interning. I mean if you were an employer would you pick a new grad with 3 months experience or 2 years experience with higher education. I graduated with a class of 30+ girls and only one that has gotten hired and she was hired from wcui clinic because the tech quite last minute. If I could do it all over again I would have researched more and gone to platt in Alhambra as that one is accredited. The platt in Ontario is not which is a bit confusing as they are the same entity but different location. Long story short make sure you do your research. read more

I just registered to start as an LVN on 8/4/15. My rep was Danny B and he was awesome. He informed me of all the steps that are required and made the whole process easy. I was able to take the admissions test, get financial aid, write my essay, complete the interview with the Director of Nursing and fully register all in one day. It took about 4 hours but I thought it would have taken longer. The rest of the staff is polite and and willing to answer any questions. Danny B can tell you I had a lot but he was able to answer all of them and if he didn't have an answer he was able to get the information I needed. Thanks Danny!!! I have never made a review for any business but this one has to be done. The service is bad as they come. I called and wanted to receive information about the school and the gentleman I spoke to was extremely helpful. I was told someone from financial aid would contact me regarding my payment questions and that is when the help stopped. A week passed by with no call so I decided to call back and was transferred to financial aid who did not answer. Called back mentioned that no one picked up and was transferred again and left a message. A few days later I did my own follow up and asked to speak to a manager or someone to assist me and was sent over to Brian. I explained my concern and he seemed a little surprised that they have not called me back. A little defensive towards them if you ask me. I understand people get busy but it should not take that long to contact a potential new student. With three locations I wonder if all of them have the same communication issue or if management is aware of their issues. Hopefully this is not a common problem for them, but I decided to look elsewhere. read more

I red so many commend that has complained about financial staff. I am also one of them. i never want write even a review to complain about someone because i thought we are human. We all make mistake but this financial aid lady was rude. I was sent to talk to her if i am qualify for financial aid. I asked for her advise and i told her about other person case who got approved for financial aid. You know what she responsed to me, " just go to that school then" Plus, before i called my sister to ask some information, i did asked her if i can make a phone called she said ok but when no one answered my call for the 2nd times, she started saying to me, no one like to talk to me. she did not even know who i was calling to but why she started saying unprofessional. i don't know how long has she been working but she needs to take behavioral courses. read more

I had a really good experience. I took the Adult echo course at Beverly Hills and then decided to specialize in Pediatric echo (which I took at the Ontario location). The echo teachers were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Some of them have more than 20yrs experience. Both my externship (clinical) sites were great and now I have a full time job with awesome benefits and great pay. There is really high demand for echo techs right now. read more

I am a student here at WCUI attending the LVN program. My experiences so far have caused me to want to express to others that they should really look into this school before enrolling and becoming a victim. Firstly, when I came to this school I of course asked many questions about the program. Admission made everything sound so perfect and organized. They told me that if I were to choose this school that I would get a free laptop with the programs already installed that they use in class. Everything they told me sounded so legit and unquestionable. The little research I did and being so anxious I chose to attend this school. This has been the biggest mistake of my life. 1. There is NO such thing as a FREE LAPTOP that they stated they would provide to you if you attended there school, you have to pay for the laptop if you want it. 2. One of my questions when I was touring the school and asking about the LVN program was: how many clinical sites are there and where are they located. Admissions told me they had a list of 20 clinical sites and they were all in the area around the school. That is to a LIE, there are no 20 sites and they are sending us down to CULVER CITY which is not only far but you sit in LA traffic for two hours just to get down there. We have only been to ONE site since we've been in school which does not correlate with what we are leaning in the theory part of this program. The board of nursing has expectations that the school is supposed to follow in order to run a good educational program, and this school lacks several expectations. I as well as students in my class have looked this up on the board of nursing's website and are planning to call them to discuss our concerns and issues. Secondly, most people have a payment that's due every month for the school tuition. The account guy that's responsible for that is Gabriel. He is very rude when you go to speak to him about your account. He can't answer specific questions as to where the money is going. He will try and increase your payments and charge you late fees if your payment is late. Nowhere in the contract that I signed states that they can charge late fees. I as well as many others feel like FRUAD is happening and refuse to give them any money until I get answers. Thirdly, the school is in the middle of a class action lawsuit that started June 28, 2012. The lawsuit is in the federal court system for racketeering and dishonest/corrupt organization. This just goes to show that not only have my class experienced awful outcomes of this school but also to other classes that have taken the initiative to take action against this school. My recommendations to anyone that's looking into this school would be to do your research. Everyone is entitled to making their own decisions but for the people that do research and care about school and the school's reputation please be aware. I wish I would have known the things that I do now, I wouldn't have chosen this school. read more

I "graduated" from this school almost 5 years ago now with 4.0 gpa and have yet to find a facility that will hire me with the certificate from this school. All employers want you to be ARDMS licensed. With the school's certificate you have to work for a year before you can sit for ARDMS testing.... It leaves you stuck between a rock and a hard place! I even applied to the school itself and was told I didn't have enough experience!!! I thought it might just be me so I spoke with a few classmates and all of them had been served the same fate as me. After 18 months and a $30,000+ student loan I am still unemployed. The school doesn't even offer any resources. I would recommend doing some research on the school's accreditation before attending this school. read more

Awful choice for studying anything. Liar and incompetent people, no clear standard for admission. All they care about is your federal loan approval. After that they treat you like a used tissue paper. Just remember over the last three years their employment rate is ONLY 12%. Just think about it, do you want to spend $35K with only a 12% chance of getting a job (and 88% chance of unfortunate student loan defaulter). STAY AWAY. Also, they use students as study guinea pigs and you have to sign a paper before admission to let them do it. I am a former adult and pediatric echo student. I felt that I was well prepared for the ARDMS test at the completion of school. My internships were great, and I learned so much from them. I can't say enough about the pediatric program. It prepared me for a job in this competitive field. Currently I have passed the CCI RCS, ARDMS RDCS and ARDMS RDCS-PE , and am working as an echo tech. I make great money and love what I do. read more

This school ruined my life.. I have 5 points to tell anyone going to this shitty school... I went for LVN First of all let me tell u orientation sounds nice.... They dont tell you about the ATI test, a stupid test that if you cant pass it you kiss bye bye to $5,650.. This test counts as 50% of your grade and its a paass or fail... Per term you did... not even the school knows what's in this test.. Its not even a state test.. I was in term 2. I had an A+ in the class ... And failed my first ATI by 2 points .. I re took this test the second time and got the same score . Orientation and Dr hany said we can retake it 3 times . then the second time retaking it they threw a stupid paper on our face saying we cant take it for the 3rd time. Like okay bullshit... My Second point ... Yeah they may tell you this school is "accredited" by the state of california... Let me just say that is crap talk ... Your transcripts will look so unprofessional no school will take your credits because its not organized as a class with a grade... Im going through this problems right now i owe 11 grand ... And everything i did was trash .. They just want your money... My 3rd point is.. The clinical sites are so unorganized clinical teachers dont know what they be doing (mrs.charlotte) and we sit on our asses for 8 hours without being taught anything . we even did a report as a class and the staff wont do shit about it cuz why? They want your money they dont care about you. My 4th point i was pulled by the sweater by one of the clinical teachers because my sweater was black and it was supposed to be white.. Like no thats rude ... They have no structure and they are unprofessional. My 5th point i just want to tell you all to go to a regular college where your work counts ... This school is full of liars and frauds. I graduated from West Coast Ultrasound Institute 6 years ago and I was never able to find a job as an ultrasound tech. The school promised that we would graduate with a degree but in the end it was a worthless certificate. When I found out that they now have a bachelors degree program I called the Ontario campus to inquire if former students who were promised a degree could take the course for a discounted rate I was told no that I would have to pay for the degree that I was promised when I registered at the school. I am 30k in debt and still working in an office setting barely getting by. Myra Chason was the schools owner and she is a liar and a crook. I really don't know why the state has not shut this school down like they have with other for profit "colleges" and "institutes". I would never recommend this school to anyone unless they are ok with getting ripped off and having debt for the rest of their lives.
