I went one night bc I was driving by after looking at cars at Nissan I figured why not.i was greeted by Dennis Hofer. It was late so I figured he would rush me out instead he was very pleasant and spoke with me about my wants, needs, and concerns I had. After telling him about a credit situation he told me not to worry and called Tyler who I believe is a finance manager (or at least he should be head of finance over there). Together they worked with me to get me the car I wanted for a payment I could afford. Just saying that might not sounds as amazing but it is due to the fact I have very very expensive taste, a budget ,credit issues, beyond picky, and I'm indecisive which would basically make me every sales mans nightmare. These 2 guys never treated me as such even though I would think I liked a car and then think I just didnt many may times, and through all of this they kept a smile on their faces and working hard to get me not what I liked but what I Loved!! Dennis took me test drives, and would show me car after car after car they even had to get creative and find things that werent even posted yet as Tyler was trying to get me a great deal and Dennis really knew right away what kind of taste i had. It honestly felt like i was shopping with friends never did i feel like i was with sales men. But my friends couldnt get me the deals that they did. Even after I found the car I loved which was the first one I looked at could you even imagine the headache one would have we even after that they did not seem the least bit bothered but happy I loved this vehicle. Tyler then went to work with numbers after he set one that I was happy with and it came time to pick up the car he surprised me with amazing news he kept working not only did he lower my payments almost 50 DOLLARS he also added a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty in with the car and with all that the payment was still much lower than I had originally settled on. This showed me how much he cared most people would never lift another finger once you are happy with the price. By saying these guys went above and beyond would be an understatement. I am truly a hard customer to please but they both were able to please me more than I ever thought imaginable, and that says a lot if you knew how I am with cars and all the other factors involved. If someone would have told me everything they did I honestly wouldnt believe them but it is true they did. They were NEVER pushy or rude or short or any of the things you dont like about sales people. I just really hope they always have cars I love because I will never be able to shop else where for my cars again!! I know I will just be beyond disappointed if I go else where knowing this experience. Especially this being far from my first rodeo I never keep a car more than 2 years so I have a lot of experience with car dealerships. If anyone is looking for a car you MUST give Tyler and Dennis a shot even if it isnt first I would put money on the fact that they will earn your business and make you so happy you gave them a shot to please you! Poor, and lazy, service. My daughter dropped and broke her key fob. She tried to glue the pieces together, assuming it would still work. Unfortunately, the electronics in the key fob broke which left her 2011 Mazda6 inoperable. Smith Haven Mazda advised her she needed to tow the car in for a replacement key so they could synch up the remote with the vehicle. Fine, she towed the car in. She paid $200 for the new key, but because she had glued the old key together they sent her on her way with a new key fob that only works to start the car and didn't synchronized or activate the remote to lock/unlock the doors. Instead they put electrical tape around the new key fob and told her to keep using the old one to lock/unlock the doors. They said she could try to pry the old key fob apart and then take the remote out of that and put in the new one...REALLY??? Isn't that what she paid over $200 for? I would expect the service tech to do this, as we bought a new (expensive) key and expect it to fully function. Instead, they sent a teenage college student on there way with a half working key, took her money and then told her to do there job for them. Good job Smith Haven Mazda! Way to take advantage of, and rip off, a female teenage college student. read more

I had to go to COURT for to tickets from a vehicle I traded in to the dealership that was sold at an auction and never taken out of my name. They kept my car in the shop for over a week to fix what I was told was a wheel bearing by WILSON which by the way did not call me once in the 10 days my car was in the shop I had to call them and was given the run around each time I picked my car up drove it for 5 minutes to find it was making the exact same noise it was making when I took it in which by taking to to the Ford dealer I found was the transmission. I absolutely regret purchasing vehicle from this dealership and hope no one ever has to go through what I have went through with them. Very disappointed! I purchased what I thought was a beautiful 2015 Mazda 6 on 10/14/17 5 days ago. I just noticed that the roof and the rear deck lid are filled with dimples (possible hail damage). I picked the car up in the rain/mist (I know my stupidity). I called today to talk with someone about the issue and the response I got was "the car is what it is and it's my fault, they didn't even have the decency to ask me to come in and to have them look at it. I cannot elaborate enough what a horrendous experience we had at this dealer. The salesman Kirk plays the seasoned caring car salesman to a T. Beware, the first red flag was when we came out to test drive a car and was told no don't leave a deposit the car has been on the lot for over 30 days. Day we were scheduled to sign paperwork we get phone call that they are selling car to someone else. Give a credit card over phone to "hold" car. Get to dealership and mistakenly had left plates at home. So I sign paperwork solo. Get home to find out that we were overcharged for the car. There was one price advertised on their website, another price on Craigslist and finally the price we were charged. Take a guess which price was the highest!?!?! Numerous phone calls were made, and for first week response was well get back to you. Finally salesman Kirk had the audacity to say to my daughters boyfriend "why do you even care, you're not making the payment". At this point they are referring to the error as a mistake NOT FALSE ADVERTISING and are willing to refund Craigslist price not website price. Told to come in to pick up check, make the drive only to be told it's being mailed and then staff was incredulous that I said loud enough for other customers to hear if you want an awesome Mazda experience to go to Wantagh Mazda. Got a great deal from Smithaven Mazda and saved $1000 thru the "construction sale", and this car is quite close to being brand stinkin' new! 2016 with less than 3000 miles, add to that, a 70K miles warranty! Outside of purchasing a home, buying a car is usually the second largest purchase for most people. My father and I needed new cars, as his old Tribute has been driven over 13 years (still kicking BTW-- Go Mazda). We searched high and low, and since I lived in Queens, I visited many of the local dealers. Many of the salesmen I spoke to left me wanting to take a shower afterward. Not Bill B and Chris W, these guys were honest, took good care of us, and was fair. My father and I are fiscally conservative with our personal finances and these guys made it work. No tricks, no bait, and switch. We ended up buying two cars at once. A leftover 2016.5 AWD CX-5 AND a 2016 CX-7. Both cars are great, and we are extremely pleased. BEWARE AND PAY CLOSE ATTENTION AS THEY WILL TRY ANTYHING!!! We worked with Jon Frisch and at first we liked him a lot. Low pressure, pleasant, laid back guy. HOWEVER, he ended up being quite dishonest. We went in for the internet advertised lease on a specific 2015 car which showed -0- Down. The "real deal" or something like that with a $159/month payment. Great deal! There was only one 2015 on the lot however, but Jon told us on 4 different occasions that the same 2016 model would only be $10 more per month, or 169. Great. We got a 2016, wrote up the paperwork after "talking to the manager", signed it for 169/month. But before we left (we'd pick up the car a few days later) we wanted to verify what we'd need at closing. He seemed to avoid the question, then said it very quickly - like when a 7 year old tells a lie. We said "what? could you repeat that"? Then again very quickly he said, $854 + bank fee + tax, tags, etc. So I asked, what is the $854? The ad says $854 + tax, tags, registration. He said that's a down payment. I asked "doesn't that include the bank fee?" He said no. "Tags is the bank fee". What a LIAR!!!!! I said the ad says no down payment to which Jon explained to me that he hates the way the ad is written. It's misleading, etc. He hates that he has to explain that to customers. He was now playing the "good guy". It was still a good deal, but I had a sick feeling in my stomach and I told him so. We left and I re-read the ad at home and it was very clear..,the ad said $854 due at signing which obviously was equal to the bank fee and the first month's payment according to the small print. So I called Jon back and said that I was so dumb yesterday that I didn't put those pieces together. He played really dumb and said "gee I guess you're right. Let me talk to my manager and I will call you back". So he played his little game and called back ten minutes later. He said I was right the down payment, BUT the monthly payment would really be $179, not the $169 that the agreement was written up for the day before! He said that he made a mistake yesterday and didn't know that the MSRP of the 2016 was higher than the MSRP of the 2015. C'mon Johnny. I asked him how he couldn't know that and he said "I did not know that". UGH! So now he was trying to recapture a piece of what he tried to sneak in there the prior day. Sickening. My point is don't be fooled by Jon's apparent niceness. We didn't want to believe it, but he behaved like the typical car salesman that gives them all a bad name. His plan was to sneak the down payment in the contract and we'd only find out on the day when we'd come to pick up the car with our son who the car was for. Of course we'd just pay it rather than yank the car from our excited child. UGH again. Sickening, I still gave them 2 stars because we ended up getting the advertised deal which was very good - even if we had to have a stressful battle with dishonest people for 2 days to get it. Oh yeah....I almost forgot!!! Then as we were at the very last step the finance manager came out with this ridiculous additional monthly payment for sales tax. We wanted to build in sales tax to the monthly payment which would be about $15/month but somehow the finance manager came up with about $25/month!! They would try anything to suck those last few bucks out of us. When he was questioned about the math, he said "well, you're still getting a really good deal!" Can you believe that???!! PLEASE BE VERY AWARE OF EVERY SINGLE NUMBER BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE ARE SHAMELESS AND HAVE NO PROBLEM LYING RIGHT TO YOUR FACE. read more

I traded my beautiful Civic for a Mazda3 here. I went to service today for a busted horn (i have no idea how it gets busted when my 1989 Toyota Camry still has a perfectly working horn), and they said..."its common when the rain gets in there and rusts the horn". I don't know much about cars, but I'm almost certain that shouldn't be happening. Is it that poorly designed? and why does it cost $110? I've only had this car for less than a year, and I've had more troubles with this car than my past 3 cars combine (Camry, Accent, and Civic) .. I take very good care of my cars and with this one, I took a chance buying a pre-owed from here. I don't know how I will pay for all the "problems" that this car came with. I'm a student, and i don't have much money, and yet when i go to service this car, they milk as much money from me as possible and tell me the number of things wrong with the car. Why didn't they mention this when they sold it to a poor student like me? I still have to pay over 250$ a month for the next 5 years! Yes, its only been with me for less than a year and I'm sure there's more problems to come. What is the coverage/warranty good for? It certainly doesn't help me. Does it help at all? It gets me nauseated just thinking about it. In addition to the mysterious busted horn, the tire pressure gauges is also busted (another thing that I've never heard of. I had my civic for many years and the sensors never got busted). Whats the excuse this time? The snow and weather. Well, that was only for 3 months out of the near full year I've had this car, but here i am again..stuck with trying to find where I'm going to find 400$ to replace the gauges. Today, I didn't get the gauges for financial reasons, and i am now driving with a gauge light on until i can find the funds. I don't know if dealers know this, but as students, we don't have money (or very much of anything really). We do what we do because of passion in helping others, and the prospect of wealth? never gonna happen, never even crossed my mind. I've been a scientist since undergrad, post undergrad, and now grad student. And I dedicate my life to solving problems in cancer, infectious diseases, biological toxins... But instead of going to work, I'm stuck in service for 5 hours dealing with a car (that i just bought from Smith Haven Mazda) full of problems that I cant solve because I made a big mistake of letting my Civic go. Whoever has my Civic, I know you are happy. I took very good care of that beautiful car... and here i am, poorer and unhappy with what i have, and the prospect of having to pay for this car for another 5 years? They rush you to sign paperwork and before you know it, they come back saying, "well the paperwork says this, you signed it." Buyer beware..don't be fooled by the friendliness. Went in with a guaranteed internet price and after they went over my info I was told I could lease for 350 or buy for over 400/month. Not wanting a crazy car payment, I decided to go with the leasing option. They took the insurance off my trade in right away and sent car to be detailed since it was being used. After being at the dealership for about 4 1/2 hours, until almost closing time, my car was finally back, and now I had to wait for the paperwork to be drawn up. When given the paperwork the "agreed upon" price is now almost 4K more and 2K over sticker price for a car that had over 2000 miles. I purchased a 2015 Mazda CX-5 in December of 2015 which ended up having a MAJOR issue which resulted in me having to return the vehicle to the dealership. I found the management, especially Dennis Aberle , the General Sales Manager at this dealership to be very non sympathetic to the problem, unhelpful, arrogant, uncaring about the inconvenience I suffered ( I was in a loaner car for over a month) and very non communicative about how my problem was going to be solved. In fact everything I was told at the start of the ordeal by the management turned out to be nothing but BS. Dennis Aberle is a huge detriment to this dealership. Not only is he a liar and a phoney but he lacks the skills necessary to provide satisfactory customer service. Rather than go out of his way to ensure a happy customer his arrogance and non sympathetic attitude drives customers away. Obviously he does not realize that a dealership's future customers are its current customers. I commend the following people at this dealership for their integrity, hard work, helpfulness and overall friendly attitude : Jon Frisch, Adam Cevallos, Tyler Munro. If you choose to do business at this dealership I strongly suggest that you work ONLY with these 3 individuals and no one else If it wasn't for them I would have demanded that my down payment be returned to me and I would have gone to a different dealership. Bottom line - because the 3 gentlemen I mentioned above went out of their way to solve my problem and put forth extra effort to help me I decided to continue a business relationship with this dealership despite my extreme dissatisfaction. The General Sales Manager, Dennis Aberle could not care less about my dissatisfaction and did absolutely nothing to appease me or change my opinion of the dealership. In fact, all he did was lie to me and leave a very bad taste in my mouth. It is very unlikely that I will ever purchase another vehicle from this dealership nor will I recommend Smithaven Mazda to anyone I know. Again, if you visit this dealership and choose to do business there', ONLY do business with Jon Frisch Adam Cevallos and Tyler Munro as they are the only ones there that know how to treat a customer right and avoid any dealings with Dennis Aberle, the GSM because you all only regret doing business there. read more

After visiting three other dealers I came back here because they offered us the best deal on my vehicle. The staff was very friendly & courteous. Frank the sales rep was wonderful and made the transaction process as smooth as possible. It was also a pleasure to work with the finance manager. When I came to pick up my vehicle it was not as clean as I would hope for and they took it back in to re-clean it with the General manager overseeing it. So far I am very happy with my purchase and hope I will be just as happy with the service department when I bring the vehicle back for maintenance. read more

I purchased it from Joe who was the original salesman of the first vehicle I bought a few years ago. (Yes the original salesman is still happily working there. This should tell you something about the dealership. if you know anything about how unscrupulous dealerships run, you know they are regularly shuffling people around with an extremely high turnover rate because of terrible selling practices) I have been using this dealership for service regularly since I purchased the 1st vehicle and the majority of the salespeople are still there...the service specialists Tyler and Wilson are still the guys handling service at the desk amongst other familiar faces... service has always been outstanding with a nice waiting area with coffee, snacks tv, and WiFi and of course courtesy vehicles if you are in for a longer service than an oil change. This is the 6th new vehicle I have purchased in my lifetime, the second at this dealership and I'm sure not the last... This dealership (and Joe) has provided the easiest buying experience I've ever had, not once but twice now. Joe was extremely accommodating, professional and never once tried pressure or deception tactics. He explained everything clearly and matched the numbers I expected after doing some price researching beforehand. Everything on the contract was clearly explained, not only by Joe but also the financing officer.
