Smith Pools did a great job replastering and retiling my swimming pool in Redlands that was 50 years old, leaking, and chipping away. A single drain also was split into two; a pool light was replaced; and a handrail was added. Haylee Smith helped us select a nice-looking decorative tile at a reasonable price, and Dean Smith applied most of the tile himself, including adding some decorative tile squares on pool steps and benches at no additional charge. He also repainted the diving board for just the cost of materials. As often occurs in any kind of construction project, all work performed did not go without a hitch. After an outside leak detection company found a leak in the skimmer, it was replaced. But after this the pool continued to leak. After further testing another leak was discovered between the pool equipment and the skimmer. So, the new skimmer was replaced by another one; cement decking was torn up near the skimmer to reach and repair the leaking line between it and the pool equipment; and the removed portion of the cement deck was replaced. The unanticipated additional work was honored under the terms of the original contract without protest, which I appreciated. The only negative circumstance to report is that on multiple occasions I was told in advance that work would be performed on a given day, but no one showed up. Yet this is a minor complaint, for I understand that several other pool remodeling projects were being completed besides mine, and the overall project was finished in a reasonable period of time with continual forward progress. All work completed revealed excellent attention to detail, and was carried out at a fair price. Diane and I are very pleased with the final result. XXXX-1/2 stars overall! read more

Smith Pools just wrapped up cleaning our tile to remove five years worth of grime and calcium build up and they were awesome and great value! Initially, I was a skeptic; I figured this was a DIY type of job with some basic chemicals I could pick up from the store, but after seeing what the process entailed, I am so thankful I left this to a professional. Not only did he make quick work with the tile cleaning, but he was able to do this while the pool was still full (drained to just a few inches below the tile line)! He was also great at cleaning up the calcium sediment so we don't have any grit in the bottom of the pool either. Super professional, highly recommend. My husband's review is below. During our remodel Dean became livid at one point, because I had another contractor review his work for poor craftsmanship. Dean then proceeded to tell me he was a good guy. Pictures attached. Dean and Haylee asked me to turn off my security cameras, because we told them about a conversation they had on our property about the work on our pool. Dean stated he contacted a lawyer, because we quoted back his conversation about our pool. After speaking to Law Enforcement and a attorney, we were reassured, we had not broken the law. The reason we even had to review cameras was because of broken sprinklers. There were other conversations that happened on our property that were concerning and so a lawyer was contacted to file paperwork as directed by said lawyer. At this time, we still have cracked tiles and grout around the bull nose of our spa. They stated we would hear back about repairs within 24-48 hours, but have not heard back for over a week. We spoke to the CA licensing board Friday 9/23/22 to continue there ongoing investigation. read more

My pool is like brand new! Miraculous removal of my calcium deposit ring! They came on time, and did a thorough job

Warning-- do not trust this company with your pool. We agreed to a remodel that would be completed within 3-4 weeks in April 2022. Our pool didn't get finished even with poor quality until the end of July 2022. From the beginning we had issues with communication, tile-craftsmanship, and scheduling. Employees would not show up like canceling the day of, because other jobs needed work or they would show up before noise ordinance hours on weekends without notice. Dean and his wife Haylee tried to change our contract out of retaliation and without or consent, which delayed our project even further. We've contacted the State Contractors licensing board for poor craftsmanship. Do not take on this headache! There are many other local contractors worth your time and money. read more

Dean and his team did amazing work. We had them resurface the pool with pebble tech, new concrete work, and a new light and new tiles. Looks amazing and we really love the quality of work they did. No issues. They came it, did the work, and left the place in much better condition. All in all, got a good price and great work. read more

Not a reliable company!! I contacted Smith Pools a few weeks ago to replaster our small pool (12x26 ft). They gave me a quote of $4,850. I called them a few days ago and told them I'd pay the amount they quoted. To my surprise, they JACKED UP THE PRICE TO $5,000 two days ago! Wow. Still, I agreed to pay. Today, Haylee (an employee there) told me that the price of $5,000 does not even include filling the pool and pouring the required chemicals after the plaster job is done.... unless I pay them an additional $400! Jesus H Christ. For a total of $5,400. They do not honor their own quotes. Wildly deceptive. This is not the way to do business. Just speechless. read more

From start to finish he was very helpful, courteous, and professional and not pushy at all. He suggested we look everything up on the Internet the color the pebble the process and made sure that we were very comfortable with all of our decisions and going forth from removing our plaster & putting pebble in our pool. We remodeled our large, older pool almost 2 years ago. I am remiss in writing this review. The plaster was chipped and it didn't look good. We had re done the tile around the top of the pool and the coping a few years prior and we left that alone. We took the plaster out and installed a kind of pebble tech. All the work was done efficiently, cleanly and well in a record time. The "boss", Dean Smith, was on the job for a bit every day. Along the way we added an extra or two (e.g. a large hand rail to get into the shallow end where there had been nothing.) Everything was handled politely and professionally. I am very impressed with the work that Dean Smith and his team did on my pool. It was totally resurfaced, a Baja deck was added, and the tile re-done. It is simply beautiful and everyone who came to work on it was very nice and respectful. I would encourage you to use them and to make sure you ask for a completion date. They will give you honest answers. Well, for the most part Dean the owner did what he said he was going to do. We had a lot of issues with his rock guy though. He was unable to paint the rocks any color other than brown, so if you want brown he's your guy. The part that was very disappointing is he left a trash can on our pool deck that was supposed to be picked up the next morning. It was there over 2 months before we finally begged one of our friends to come pick it up 85 pound trash can full of left over pool pebble teck. We asked them numerous times to come get it but never happened. read more
