Smith's grocery experience is generally good for me, I go to the Canyon Rim location at 3215 South Valley Street in Millcreek. The employees are one of the best parts of the experience, helpful and fun to shop with! And I don't want to be that grumpy guy but something happens that REALLY grates while doing my shopping, and it happens far too often. There is the call: "FAST coordinator, please check the application etc." I want to abandon my cart and bolt from the store! There has to be a better way to deal with the food thermometer warnings in the freezers and coolers. It's not a new issue, there are other complaints and comments out on the internet, (Reddit) so yes, really! I find myself (this is the truth) choosing another store if I think about it when I'm planning my shopping. Put a timer on it or something! read more

I don't usually leave review for grocery stores, but I had a great experience here. My dad dropped a coupon while browsing, and a kind employee helped us out! That coupon was the only reason we came shopping, and he was excited about getting a particular item. Despite dropping the coupon, my dad was still able to get the deal he arrived for. It's Valentines Day and my daughter sent me flowers. What a disappointment when I received them. not only were they stinker but dead. It was obvious the floral department didn't care what they were sending out. I told my daughter to call and get a full refund including delivery. What a shame! Wish I could add photos. read more

My experience with Smiths is using their delivery service. It is fulfilled by Instacart. Twice out of 5 times they have delivered the wrong order or to someone else. Frustrating. read more

It's Smith's. You likely know what to expect. It's one of our lower priced grocery options in the area, but that comes at a cost: usually slightly dated to a bit dingy stores. I'm alright with that, though, because they usually have most everything I need, they are conveniently located, and customer service is always at least good. This store in particular had a couple things that stood out to me. The bulk selection is nice and big, and most importantly includes dark chocolate honeycomb. YAS. They also had Stumptown coffee. I love clearance, and theirs was great. When an item didn't ring up correctly as I was checking out, the kind cashier quickly and happily rectified the situation, maintaining a cheery, friendly attitude for the entirety of our time together. I don't live near this location, but if I did it would likely be one of my go-to grocery stores. read more

This is one of my least favorite Smith's in the SL area. Unfortunately, it also happens to be the closest. The floor in the store looks unfinished, like you are shopping in an old warehouse and the lines are usually very long. I feel dirty every time I leave this store. The lines are always very long. Employees smoke right in front of the handicapped parking on the front left side of the building, which means if you park there, you will have to walk through their fog of smoke. Most of the customers here do not wear masks properly, several have them completely off of their entire face while shopping. I always leave this store saying I will never return, but since it is so close, I end up stopping there to get something quickly, and always leave frustrated. read more

The Deli here was awesome! It's worth mentioning. One of the most busiest day for the deli (Super Bowl Sunday. ) The deli customer service was exceptional at worst. I needed several different kinds of meats AND cheese. They were very busy but the lady that was helping me took the time to HELP me. Larla was her name. At first I expected to get the treatment that I usually get on a regular day at the smith on 5300 south and 665 West. This was such a different experience than that. Larla worked with me on thickness & amount. I wasn't sure what I wanted and she help me decide base on the information I gave her. Hey Smiths: I stopped by years ago on a summer trip with friends, and in an attempt to replenish my vitals by way of what appeared to be your attempt at wholesome Mexican cuisine via white sauce enchiladas. These enchiladas were anything but wholesome. In fact i spent the next 24 hours barfing them across state lines all the way to the mile high city of Denver Colorado. I spent the waking hours of one summer going through electrolyte replenishment methods, and at the hands of my comrades and their words of encouragement I was able to pull through but suffice to say I will NEVER frequent this sham of an establishment ever again!!! read more

It's odd for me to be in the particular part of town, or at least it was until recently. Over the last year I have actually found myself here quite frequently. It was a quick grocery ingredient run a few months ago, a produce pop-in over the summer, and most recently I needed gas and they have the Smith's Fuel gas station. For the uninitiated, when you spend money at Smith's with your Fresh Values card, you rack up fuel discount. Tonight I got a 30 cents per gallon discount, which ain't bad. Really, they're tracking your shopping habits and selling your info for big data, but I mean, we're all just numbers in the matrix anwyay, right? So this location is pretty middle-of-the-road. Everything seemed backwards from my normal Smith's layout, but all the departments are there: bakery, produce, dairy, and so on. Parking isn't bad, and things were decently tidy. It's certainly not a flagship store but there are some Smith's I've been to that are far worse off. The gas station part is a bonus here, so you can shop and fuel up with one stop. read more

The Western Union service at this store is horrible. They always have long lines but only one representative at the counter to help. When I talked to the store manager about it they say they don't have enough employees but you'll see a lot of employees just walking around or just standing around doing nothing. read more

Still the same no matter how many complaints you filed. Watch they always ring up wrong price in the produce department . I had two incidents of the gas station outside the store. My credit cards was copied . The credit card company called me someone copied my credit card information from the gas station. read more

It's really unfortunate, this location was a convenient spot to grab goods and go. Lately they aren't stocked with a lot of goods. I was just there on Sun around 8:30am and they had crates of goods parked in the middle of the isles, making it impossible to get by with a cart, this was in the dairy, soda and at least 1-2 other isles that day. I was looking for buttermilk and the shelves were bare for many dairy items. There were dairy crates all over the isles but nobody on site unpacking them so I had to find a guy from another department to see if he could help me find some, he found 3 in the back (not even from the crates out in the isles). Then I had to hear a worker over in the deli/bread/produce area continue to swear and complain about something they have to deal with and shouldn't have to. I don't mind swearing usually but to do it over and over while at work is a bit distasteful, it makes for an awkward shopping experience. Then they only had 2 self checkouts and one manned checkout lane opened...it was getting a bit busy and they could have opened at least one more checkout spot. I don't usually leave reviews but this location needs some serious help with management or something. read more

I love going to this location and the people that work there are fabulous. Only problem I have is every time I go to fuel center to get gas no one is in the booth to take cash. The pumps won't let me use my direct express card therefore I have to pay in cash and if no one's there I can't put gas points for discount on billing my tank. read more

They can't seem to get anything right at this store. The produce is poor quality. Always seems old. On this last visit, I picked up a few Roma tomatoes and was swarmed by fruit flies. So nasty. Strawberries were bruised and soft. Organic Lettuce wilted. Not encouraging. Last visit I had deli cut American cheese and there were plastic bits all over from cutting with the wrapper on. Really?! They did refund me though. I use the app for coupons which is great in theory but I always end up at customer service because it didn't take one or A few coupons. The prices are average. And pay attention to your receipt because many times the prices listed on-shelf do not match what you're charged! Three stars only for the gas pumps. read more

Terrible experience. I asked for help on a few items and the attitude of the man was rotten. "Well, it's on a pallet in the back." As he walks away. He was so unwilling to help. Then asked the cashier (Stacey) if she knew of any of the items I was looking for were there and she was just as dismissive. I just now called to give the store some feedback from my experience and the store director HUNG UP ON ME after saying "thanks for your feedback." The store was out of so many items and yes, it's a pandemic, I understand. But wow. I love this grocery store! It's fairly affordable, always clean, and there's great parking. It's not too far and they have the gas station there too. It's really nice. The produce and meat are always really fresh. They have almost all of my favorite brands as well. Check out is always pretty fast too. The only issue i've had so far is trying to find a tall person to reach something for me. read more

Well, this sucks. So this is a warning if you order home delivery. My first time trying it from Smith's, and unpacking my order of only 14 items I didnt get 2. Went through the process of reporting it with instacart, and found it just leaves you with an empty process to get your items or refund. Why order this way if I still have to go to the store to get my items. Instacart is a 3rd party, so avoid using them. I'll just do curbside I guess. Bummer read more

Three reasons to shop here: 1. The low prices Smith's is famous for. 2. They're open 24 hours. 3. They have a low price gas station out front. I'll always pick Smith's when the chips are down because they really do have some of the lowest prices. I'd give it 5 stars but sometimes this location feels like there's too much riff-raff. Finally got around to going inside and honestly, just use this for the pumps. The inside is still as nightmarish as ever and nearly as dingy as it was 15+ years ago. Getting to the actual aisles from inside the front door is also extremely screwy and the layout here is worse than the store on 900 E. & 800 S., which I honestly didn't think would be possible. Parking here can also quickly be atrocious, with a ton of other stuff in the same parking lot. Oddly enough, in another weird tendency that hasn't changed, everyone in the store, from patrons to staff, seemed to be irritated about something...possibly being in the store itself. I found it puzzling then and find it still puzzling, especially because customers can just go somewhere else. It is pervasive and a definite facet of this place. This Smiths has just a touch of that overused and run down feel. I've never seen so many produce shelves barren, so many strangely placed or absent price labels. The 5th and 5th location still reigns supreme in my mind. Still, it's a Smiths so for the majority of your needs it will fit the bill. Tip: for certain bread applications like French Toast, croutons, toast, bread pudding etc. the day olds are perfectly fine and may come already thinly sliced. read more

I love this Smith's! I'm in here quite often because I live close and always pass by the meat and seafood department to get meats and cheeses. The employees behind the counter are always friendly and helpful. Actually, I've never encountered a rude, surly employee and I come here a lot. They are always well stocked and keep produce fresh. They have great deals especially if you have a Smith's card and use it to get a discount on gas at the Smith's location. Everything is laid out and labeled very orderly which makes your shopping trip efficient. read more

This Smith's is the definition of "A-OK". It's reasonably clean. Reasonably stocked. And reasonably managed. There's nothing bad about it, but there is nothing great about it either. The only thing is that it seems a little more sketchy than other locations due to the consistent police presence out front along with the two security guards inside. I used to come here when I lived reasonably close, but now that I'm farther away there's little reason for me to want/need to come. read more

This particular Smith's store provides consistently poor customer service. My last horrible experience shopping at this location was particularly disturbing, as the when I asked to speak to the store manager regarding the front end staff goofing around instead of expediting the very long line of customers waiting, it turned out that it was the store manager fooling around with the cashiers, rather than helping to bag groceries and get the long line of customers on our way. How can you expect the staff to treat customers with care if the managers don't understand the concept themselves. I usually shop at Harmon's on 3270 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City and avoid this Smith's location completely. read more

I'm incredibly disappointed with this store. I used to come to this Smith's all of the time, but now I drive a little longer to go to Smith's on Fort Union Boulevard, and I suggest that you do the same (it's absolutely worth it). When I first started coming here, I was pleased by the selection and what they offered. Then slowly but surely, I found that I couldn't complete my shopping list going here anymore, and that I would have to go to a different Smith's or other grocery stores just to finish shopping. Then it turned into a regular occasion, and sometimes I would come into the store leaving with nothing at all. The final straw was on the evening of September 13th when I came into the store with a sprained ankle and leg cast. I came in there to get things to help my injury, and the amount of assistance I received was minimal at best, and I ended up leaving with virtually nothing. The employees seem miserable too. I have been shopping at Smith's for years. There is always a very homey feeling no matter what location I go to. This one is no different. Everyone who works there is happy and helpful, all the way down to the bag boys. They never take a bad day out on me like I've experienced at other grocery stores. One of the things that I love about Smith's is that they are always discounting many of their items. I have compared what I spend at other stores and what I spend at Smith's and I always come away with more food for less money at Smith's. The only thing they could improve on is their produce section, but it is still decent - just not the best. As long as I live near a Smith's, they will likely be my first choice! read more

I like Smith's selection especially their organic produce as well as their loyalty/discount program. This location does feel a bit tired and rundown and needs a remodel. Well produce is generally good, they don't have the same selection that the Smiths on 33rd south just west of Wasatch Boulevard does. If you're in the neighborhood you need something, this place is fine. If you have time and want the best, head to their 33rd south location. read more
