Very good experience from test drive to taking the car home. "Big" Mike and Jillian helped us out and were both very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. They helped us get a good price for our trade in towards a new 2020 Prius Hybrid. They definitely knew their stuff without being pushy, which we really appreciated. Everyone in the dealership wears masks and are taking precautions due to Covid. It was Black Friday weekend, so they were quite busy at times, but even still they did a good job of managing waiting areas and moving people along efficiently so it never felt overly crowded. We did have to go into a smaller office for 15 min or so to do some paper work, just FYI. This is the second car my family has purchased from this dealership in the last 10 yrs. read more

*I see not so well reviews about this place, but you need to remember that most people review things when they have a bad experience so I am going to give an honest review from my personal experience from a year ago* I had the most amazing experience with this dealership while buying my pre-owned certified Camry Hybrid. My salesman was Ron and was TERRIFIC! I went to over 10 different dealerships (other makes) and EVERY single one was down my throat trying to make me purchase their car (money to them came first). Ron was the only one that was extremely patient with me and didn't call me every day trying to make me buy a car from them. He literally gave me the keys and let me test drive the car WITHOUT him being in it - which every salesman should learn that this is the right way. I was able to test the car to my likening. You always feel hesitant when the salesman is in the car and feel like you're getting a road test (I know this may sound a little like an exaggeration, but you get my point.). I test drove the Prius about 3 times, then the corolla about 2 times and the Camry hybrid twice. I finally decided that the Camry hybrid was the better choice than the other 10 cars I test drove. Me bragging about how much I like the car is to somebody's preference, but for sure I can say that he is an amazing salesman who doesn't harass you into buying. This is for the pre-owned cars that's across the street from the new vehicle dealership, and im not sure if he can also sell new cars since I was looking at pre owned. Terrible service7:00am appointment for an oil change and a inspection. Wouldn't do the inspection because a crack on passenger side of windshield along bottom. Insurance company said it wasn't necessary because of location. I said no problem just do oil change. 2 hours later my truck comes out from back and mechanic brings keys back like job is done. He is now on his way to grab is next job looks under my truck then proceededs to run back grab my keys and drives my truck back into back. The truck returns to the done parking lot about 15 minutes later. While I'm waiting for the cashier to call on me while trying to field the 9:30 -10:00 appointments I notice a puddle under my truck. I go out to look and it's oil and it's dripping from my front skid plate and under carriage. I tell the poor overwhelmed cashier and she tells the mechanic and he brings truck back for third time. They told me there was nothing wrong with truck it was just from oil being changed. All said and done was almost there 3 hours. The service department is so miss managed it's sad. The mechanics look like inexperienced children the music coming from the garage is so loud and obnoxious, they have one person trying to run the front and it shows. This is my first ever review in my 47 years. You would think you purchase a $70,000 truck you could actually get some decent service. I made an appointment because there is a recall on my RAV4 and I also had to get my car serviced. When I got there, there was no parking so I parked my car in front of the garage door. When I went into the building one of the reps. said that there was a two hour wait, even though I made a specific appointment. She also told me that I had to go to someone else to check me in but didn't tell me who or where, and then I would be called to meet up with a rep. The place was dirty, old and completely disorganized. I waited for about 5 minutes and then someone came and told me that I had to move my car. I told him that there was no parking and he shrugged his shoulders (I hold nothing against him, he was just doing his job). At that point, I just canceled my appointment and left. My husband and I decided to turn our lease in early and purchased a new vehicle this past Saturday. Chris Malerba our normal sales person was out on paternity leave. We were handed over to David Sung. At first we were disappointed, but after meeting David, we knew we were in good hands. David made the whole experience fast and painless. He helped guide us in the right direction in deciding in what trim level would suit us best by asking what we were looking for in a vehicle. He didn't try to pressure us in any way or strong arm us as some sales people tend to do. He worked with us and our budget and was able to make the numbers work in our favor of where we looking to be. When our vehicle was ready he made sure to take the time to walk us through all the new features of our vehicle. At Smithtown toyota I don't feel as though I'm a source of commission to be made. I just want to express my gratitude to the Service Manager, David Bartoli. I was recently at the service center to get my 20,000 miles service. I asked the sales representative if they could check my alarm system to ensure that it is working properly. She condescendingly and incorrectly told me that I did not have an alarm system. She even said that she is 100% sure. I did not believe her so I went to speak to David Bartoli. He was so supportive and dropped what he was doing and immediately went to the express service area to demonstrate how the alarm system works. I just want this to be known, this is for the service department only, I have no clue how the sales department is like. To start off, I own a 2019 Rav 4 XLE Premium and I was noticing a slight creaking sound under my car. I took it to Hill Side Toyota before and they said it was normal suspension sounds, it was not. And I took it for a tsb to be performed on the transmission. I had to go in 2 different times to get my car fixed because the first time they didn't have the parts. I'm glad they were able to fix it within a 2 week time frame. Service Part 1: I went in at 7AM on a Monday. Yes 7AM, I was greeted by VERY FRIENDLY staff. They were extraordinarily nice. My service advisor was Sean Murray. Very nice and patient man. I told them my issues, handed them my keys and they told me to wait an hour. *spoiler I wanted way more than an hour* After the 2 hours I waited, they called me back and told me they couldn't find the sound and they had fixed the transmission for me. I was very grateful for the transmission fix, however, I was unsatisfied with the fact that they couldn't hear the sound under my car. I told them that I had video of the sound and that it did indeed exist. They sent a service manager to me and we went out for a test drive. 15 seconds into the test drive, we didn't even make it out of the parking lot and the sound was noticeable. I don't know which tech was test driving it, but they obviously overlooked that part. They took it in and had me wait another 2 hours. I waited and they told me they needed to special order struts for me and they'd call me in 2/3 days when the struts were in. 3 days pass and I received no call. I had to phone them only for them to tell me that the struts were in. Communication between customer and staff is some what lacking on some parts. Service Part 2: Took it in a 8AM, left and was told they'd be done that day. Well end of the day came, they weren't done. Thats fine I didn't expect same day turn around. They did however promise me it would be done the next day, sure enough, it was. I have no complaints on the service I was provided. Very good service and I'm glad they were able to fix everything. They even told me they would clean up the car and detail it for me. Detailing: 3/5 The detailing was mediocre at best, I could probably have done better. They cleaned my car and sprayed the living life out of my tires with tire dressing. The inside of my car was slimy from the dressing. TOO MUCH DRESSING. My windows had streaks from the dressing and was unsafe at certain times of the night because light would hit those streaks and it would make my window difficult to see out of. This was the FRONT WINDOW DRIVER SIDE! Use less dressing next time. My passenger side mirror is also cloudy from dried dressing. Overall experience 4/5 stars. Detailing job was mediocre, service was average, but I would return again. Very friendly staff. read more

All I wanted to know is how long it takes to get an appointment to replace the defective airbag in my car. First I was asked for the VIN then I was asked if I bought the car there. I didnt I bought it used. So I told her I just wanted to know how long it would take to get the car in for repairs, roughly. Two days? A week? She puts me on hold then returns to say that she can not tell me how long it takes to get an appointment without the info she asked for previously. I asked again, can you tell me generally speaking, how long it takes to get the car in? She says no. Something tells me that once you sign for a new car, they dont want to know you. It has a defective airbag it doesnt matter where I got it. They should fix it. If someone is hurt or killed because of this delay that blood will be on their hands read more

Please take note, this review is strictly for their service department as I have leased 3 Toyotas with Smithtown and never had one problem. Read this rather lengthy story to the end, you may want to think to bring your vehicle in for service somewhere else...... I brought my 17 Corolla in for a "complimentary" NYS inspection Saturday afternoon. When speaking with the service writer I specifically asked that the tech NOT check my air and cabin filters as I always change them myself. I was called out of the waiting room back into the service writer area to be told I needed to replace the cabin and air filters as they were dirty. When I said I specifically asked them not to check my filters from the start, they told me it was part of the inspection. It isn't. I've been a licensed inspector longer than anyone in the service department at Smithtown has been living (36 years). When I refused to have them change my filters at a cost of $106 the service writer then told me my vehicle has failed inspection for wiper blades. I asked to see the damage to my wipers as when I brought the vehicle in there was no problem. After a few minutes the tech comes out with my wipers and hands them to the service writer who looks at them and can't find anything wrong. Then the tech points out a microscopic "rip" on the lower end of the driver's side wiper. Funny how that "rip" wasn't there when the vehicle was brought in. Regardless, the wipers were fully functional and there was no rubber hanging during wiper sweep and the windshield wiper cleared the windshield fully with no problem. I said, "per NYS inspection rules as long as the wipers were operational and there was no visible rubber hanging during wiper sweep the vehicle should pass inspection". To that the service writer told me that since there was a "rip", it would get worse and it was unsafe and my vehicle failed inspection. I took my bill, failed inspection certificate and took a short ride over to parts to get wiper blade inserts. Guy at the parts desk hands me the bill after getting the inserts and I proceeded to go over to the cashier to pay when the parts guy yells to me to take the blades with me to the counter as he wasn't Jack LaLane and wouldn't bring them over to me after purchase. The last time I bought parts there (same counter guy) yelled at me for taking the parts to the cashier thinking I would run out of the store without paying. Nice way to treat customers. I drive around the block to install the inserts before going back over to the quick service for reinspection and it turns out he gave me the wrong size driver's side insert. I go back to parts with the old one and the one he sold me (about 6" too short) and lo and behold, they were out of driver's side wiper inserts for a 17 Corolla. He was basically laughing at the whole situation. After a few minutes someone else from parts comes over and overhears whats going on and magically hands the first guy an entire box of the correct wiper inserts. I take the insert, thank the second counterman and drive off property to install the wiper. I then drove back over to quick service for reinspection. It should have taken no time at all to reinspect the "failed" wiper blades and pass the vehicle. Everything else on the vehicle passed the first inspection and reinspection was just for the wiper blades. Tech pulls my car in, puts it up on the lift and removes all 4 tires and walks away for 20 minutes. I ask the service writer what was going on and he tells me they are reinspecting the vehicle. I tell him that it was a reinspection for the blades and everything else passed inspection 15 minutes ago, no mileage change. He told me to wait in the waiting room and would call me when the car was ready. Finally I'm called into the service writer area, given my receipt and paid a $10 reinspection fee on my "complimentary" inspection. I get into my car and the stench of someone who had burritos that didn't agree with them hits me like a sledgehammer and I can see the techs standing around getting a good laugh. Nice way to treat a 20+ year Toyota customer, let alone ANY CUSTOMER. I wouldn't go back to Smithtown Toyota Service department even if it was free. I can't wait to call the 800 number for Toyota and tell them what happened. I've already filled out the DMV VS-35 complaint form and sending it off tomorrow. 12/31/18 I Horrible experience at this dealership. I went there to lease a vehicle for my daughter. We ended up leasing a 2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE & requested the prices that were posted on their website. I was informed buy Guy the Sales/Finance manager that every price and disclaimers for every 2019 RAV4 were wrong and no prices would be honored! I argued with him and he again insisted that all prices were wrong as well as disclosures stating tax, tags and bank fee were included in the 5k I needed to put down. He got on the phone with his internet guy, came back and said the best he could due was give me a discount of $500. He said the deals would be taken down by 1/2/19 due to the error. He was he kidding? The deals & incentives were due to change that day anyway! I told my Salesman Mike Demera to please look online and show me the Lease Deal on my car. I showed him the price of the car being discounted and how the 5k was all that was due at signing. I finally had enough, my daughter was becoming upset and wanted to go home with her car. It was New Years Eve and we were tired of arguing with Guy who refused to honor the prices on their website. I felt we were being pressured to sign the lease agreement. They had someone that was going to follow us home to drop the car off. I informed Guy I wanted him sign a statement that the prices were wrong and it was a mistake & he did. I signed the contact and they delivered the car that night. I was so upset, after I got home that evening I went on Toyota in Smithtown's website and built a lease online for another 2019 RAV4XLE and received the deal in writing from another Salesperson with the correct prices that were advertised. I felt like my daughter & I were taken advantage of. I called the dealership on 1/2/19 and spoke to Guy and told him about pricing I received from another salesman that worked there and it was the internet price. He started yelling at me saying he spent too much time on us and he was done! He said by accepting the $500 I was a Happy customer. He actually hung up on me, I was stunned. I called back and spoke to a Lauren Karakasians, the office relations manager. I informed her what transpired and she said she would look into it and call me back. When she called she informed me that Guy had offered me the $500 and that was all I was getting, case closed. She also informed me that he said if I didn't like the deal he offered to cancel the contract(not true)! I can't believe how we were treated by this dealership. I feel like I can't even bring my daughters new car there for service after the way we were treated. I'm going to stick with Oakdale or Riverhead Toyota next time. I recently purchased a 2018 Corolla for cash as a present for my daughter. Transaction was not as simple as you would think . You can sign your daughter's name they said. Then when we show up it's sorry, she needs to be here because the "big boss" is in today. Finally they agree we can overnight her the paperwork . The real problem came after the sale . When I needed documentation on the sales tax payment so that we wouldn't have to pay tax to register the car out of state that is when the complete lack of responsiveness began. The finance manager who was happy to take my $19k+ check did not reply to my multiple voicemails. When my wife went to see him . Sean initially gave her a copy of ours sales receipt . When my wife went back up to the receptionist and said she needed different documentation as North Carolina already had reviewed this paperwork and deemed it unacceptable the receptionist told her to wait and went back to see Sean. Next, an older gentleman came out and said Sean was busy with another customer. Must have snuck that customer through the ceiling as they didn't go past my wife. At this point I am on speaker phone with my wife and the gentleman to be clear about what we need. He said the documentation we needed was " above his and Sean's pay grade" . I ask who's pay grade can provide the information. He replies that it is the controller. I ask to speak to or have the controller call us . He replies that the controller doesn't take customer calls. At one point he says that we just need to pay the tax in both states. My wife asks that he have Sean call us since he won't walk the 10 feet from his office to speak to my wife or allow her in to speak to him. He gives a less than a, I want to help reply. My wife says, "can you guarantee me Sean will call me ?" He then says well, " I can guarantee I will give him the message but I can't guarantee he will call you" That was a pretty accurate statement as Sean never called . Needless to say, we waited a few days and just paid the extra money to register the car. read more

I went in to purchase a new Toyota Tundra. I came with a bank check for the truck I wanted. I used the TrueCar app (which they have an agreement with), and had proof of my "guaranteed" TrueCar price... and they refused to honor the price (which wasn't anything unrealistic) as they claimed it wasn't an accurate price. I was stunned. If someone is looking to make a close to $50k purchase, (even if there was a legitimate error between the dealership and TrueCar pricing), ultimately a difference in price of about $2,500 or so shouldn't be enough to let the customer walk out the door, without a new vehicle, and disheartened- especially due to a supposed error that is no fault of of said customer. There was no proverbial olive branch extended. Nothing done to address this terrible customer experience. Issues arise sometimes in all facets of business, sure... but within reason and when there's the potential to get a significant purchase that'll result in a happy and long term customer, it would behoove the business to do the right thing and save that sale, rather than indifferently leave the customer to bear the burden of someone else's supposed error. Bought my first own car here, was satisfied with the sale and car service during the first couple years (they have a different building for this care) when the Toyota care included maintenance. I have long commute to work daily so soon switched to regular service building. Agree with other reviews regarding the slowness and waiting time. What made me to finally writing this review is the latest service I received, after more than two hours of waiting for regular interval maintenance, change of tires and wheel alignment, I had to come back right away to adjust the alignment. Bottomline, I understand it takes time for multiple services, but would like to have my waiting time all worthy. read more

When you buy from Smithtown Toyota they tell you they want you to be a customer for life. They tell you that you will get free NYS Inspection. However every year the wipers have "a tare" or something else is wrong to come up with something to charge you. This year it was raining on the day of my Inspection. The wipers were perfectly fine but once again as in past years they needed to be replaced. The replacement of wipers is over $75 with labor. They wouldn't pass it off i didn't get it. So I agreed as I had to get to work and didn't have time to argue the facts. Take pictures of your wipers before you go in for your Inspection and make sure there is nothing not working so when they lie to you. You can show them the truth. read more

Here is a great example of a company only caring about it's customers when their wallets are open. Unfortunately for Smithtown Toyota, I must update my previous 5 star review to a paltry 1 star due to my experience in the return of my leased vehicle. What I have come to realize is that great service only extends for the leasing or purchase of a car but NOT the actual return of the vehicle in case you choose to NOT get another Toyota from their dealership. At that point, you mean nothing to this dealership, since there are no dollar signs floating over your head. Let me explain...two months ago, in anticipation of the maturity date of my lease, I received a phone call from a sales person at Smithtown asking what my plans were for the vehicle. When I explained I was going to just return the car, she told me no problem, to just return the vehicle prior to the maturity date, August 4th. I also asked if there was any protocol I should follow or if I should make an appointment. She said it would be fine to just bring the car in whenever it was convenient. That I could make an appointment but it wasn't necessary, so long as it was before the maturity date. Cut to July 27th...in anticipation of the return of my vehicle, I decided to give a courtesy call to Smithtown Toyota AGAIN to CONFIRM that I did not need to take any action before bringing the car to the dealership. I was told to speak with the leasing manager, Paul and I wound up leaving a voicemail as he was not available. I explained my situation and asked for a phone call back to go over the protocol but he never returned my call. I also called Toyota Financial and confirmed all payments had been made and asked if anything else needed to be done before returning the vehicle. Again I was told to just bring the car to the dealership and Smithtown would take care of the rest. Hello July 31st: Met up with my boyfriend at Smithtown at 6pm to return my car, only to be told by the receptionist that the leasing manager Paul was not in and that he was the only person who could help me, and that I needed an appointment. She also asked me to call Saturday to see if he would be free. I told her my experience of being told that I would NOT need an appointment and she then said that was impossible. That I was wrong. Really? The customer is telling you their experience and you're telling them they are WRONG? Someone really needs to educate her on customer service. At this point, my boyfriend asks for the manager who then hurriedly tells us there's no one that can process the return of the lease and that only the famous PAUL l can handle it. Apparently PAUL also walks on water in his spare time. When I explain that Paul never called me back (probably due to turning water into wine somewhere), the manager agrees to have me fill out an Odometer disclosure form but asks ME if I have a PEN. Wow..a car dealership with no pens?! When I tell him I don't have a pen, he finds one for me and rushes me through the process of filling out my name and the VIN number. He finally gets a sales man to read the odometer, explains I will be charged for not leasing again with Toyota and gives me the boot like a black sheep at a family reunion. There were no "Thank You's" for leasing with us for 3 years. No "Apologies" for the disorganization, just a swift kick to get us out the door. I then realized the plates were still on my car so I had to go BACK in and have them remove them, since the Manager had no idea. I guess since I wasn't spending any MORE money with them, I was just some deadbeat in their dealership kicking the tires. Here's a clue to doing business, Smithtown Toyota. I had to change my review. I purchased a new vehicle back in September of 12. I do not know why it took my until March of 2013 to get the rest of my items to my vehicle. The sales managers sold the car and really did not want anything to do with you after that. Kept pushing the subject on the part department and not filing their portion of the paper work properly. After multiple appointment and one appointment was set up and they did not even have the proper item to install.They also did not have the proper accessory for the vehicle. Best lines for the mistake. 1. Parts should have called you once the items where in. 2. Sorry not one called you back. 3. My sales manager should have reached out to you. 4. I tried to leverage the Costco auto buying program to purchase a vehicle at Smithtown Toyota. I had utilized this program to purchase another vehicle and it worked well. I submitted my interest through the Costco site and the dealer is supposed to contact you. This dealer never contacted me after 3 days, I called them. I spoke with Trisha who provided the Costco price for a vehicle I was interested in. Trisha stated she had to check if the vehicle was sold and would call me back. It has been a week and never heard from Trisha/Smithtown Toyota, I purchased a vehicle at another dealer (Westbury Toyota). In 2012 I had a similar bad experience at this same dealership, was hoping they had improved their level of service, clearly not the case. Now that its april no one has called me, i have called multiple times to either the person i need to speak to is not there or has no idea what I'm talking about. I made my appointment for my 25,000 mile checkup last week when I noticed the reminder sticker in my car said 12/16/2018. It occurred to me that, although I only had 18,000 miles on the car, it was past the 2 year period to acquire free service. Before leaving the house this morning, I called Smithtown Toyota to be sure that my service would be free. I was told that, yes, it would be no charge. When I arrived at the dealership, I double checked with the young lady at the service desk. She told me, no, it would not be covered. I told her that I had just called and that I was told it would be covered. I am truly annoyed. I did NOT have the service done, but I did waste an hour of my time. This is my first purchase from Smithtown Toyota. I have been a frequent customer of Sunrise Toyota in Oakdale since my 1990 Camry. I came here to purchase a 2015 Toyota Prius after seeing that they had 2 of the exact color that I wanted online. I first got a price quote over the phone which was much lower than any other dealership that I had been to. I went in and tried to get them down closer to the number that I was looking to pay. At first they weren't interested in coming down, so I walked away and within 24 hours they were were willing to come closer to my price. The whole process was hassel free and I did a majority of my dealing with them over the phone. The best part of my experice was the day of pick up. I made an appointment for 10:30am, after waiting a few min, they brought me back to the buisness manager who handled all my paperwork. I was paying in full so it was super fast! I was at his desk for less that 15 min. I really like how they didn't try and talk me into financing or that they didn't make me sit through some lecture about how important an extended warrentee is. It made me feel like they valued my time. Then the salesman I dealt with, Keith, took me out to my brand new car and went over all the features and showed me all the important things I needed to know before driving off the lot. He even set my bluetooth up for me. They definitely did not have that sleazy dealership vibe that a lot of the other places that I went to had. I also like that beyond the 2 free years of Toyota care they add on their Smithtown Toyota 4 Life program on for free which includes free NYS Inspections for as long as you own the vehicle. Shout out to Keith my sales person, Nina the customer service person I talked to on the phone, and the sales and buisness managers whose names are escaping me right now! They are a great team! I would definately reccomend this dealership to people who are looking to buy a Toyota. Side note: they are the top dealer for hybrid cars in the northeast. They have a special separte showroom for the Prius. I found that due to this they have a much greater selection in the Prius than all of the other Toyota dealerships on Long Island. Can't say much for this dealership or the Finance Manager John Ferranola. My warranty was never submitted correctly by the dealership when I purchased the vehicle. I paid for a warranty that I dont even have! I'm up to 14 phone calls, numerous unanswered voicemails and 5 emails. Forget getting a call back. The issue is STILL not fixed. We are going on 2 months here......I even spoke to the General Manager who promised me I would get a call back the next day. Guess what.....no call. If I didn't live out of state I would be in that showroom in a heartbeat. This is absolutely ridiculous. read more

Okay so the customer relations manager contacted me about what had happened. The dealer rectified the situation with a free synthetic oil change of the right viscosity. Lauren, the customer relations manager, was a pleasure to work with. She was very polite and professional and did exactly what she needed to rectify the situation. She also had my customer profile updated to show that I only wanted my oil changed with 5W-30 synthetic. She further stated that she talked to the service manager and he told her that the wrong viscosity oil would be fine in the winter even though the service manual specifically states only to use 5W-30 so he needs a lesson because he's probably never worked on a car in his life. Other than that I was very happy this time around. They used the right oil which was my main concern and Lauren was great because she wants to make customers happy regardless of what the service manager said. read more

It was truly a no hassle experience, and Jillian Arthus was completely down to earth, no pressure at all, in her sales presentation. Worst !!!!! Group of people you can buy a car from they don't honor what they tell you and will do anything to get a sale. I returned my Toyota Prius that I had originally bought from Huntington since these guys were rude at the time. However, giving them the second chance they told me if I got another Toyota they would waive my disposition fee and of course now almost 3 years Toyota calls me up asking for the fee. Spoke to one of their many managers and was told they would look into it and call me back which obviously they never did. After 3 weeks of running back and forth trying to find the same guy finally got him on the phone and he says to me there's nothing we can do. So now I was basically lied into buying another Toyota. Think 5 times before you buy with these people or a buy a Toyota in general! All scams by sales reps ! Update; since the dealership responded back to my original post. Here's the deal you offered me your sales rep said and I quote "as long as it's same last name we can take care of the disposition fee for you" -my input stop trying to turn things around and twisting words own up to your mistakes that you made everyone knows car salesmen are the most manipulative people and you my friends lead the pact in this section. And that day you told me what I wanted to hear and now this is where we stand great job ! Also maybe stop telling all your sales reps who tell their customers to give them 5 star reviews and 100% on the surveys Toyota sends out then you would actually see what your real customer satisfaction rate is. read more

This was the best toyota dealer out of the 4 toyota dealers I've visited. Their lot has so many cars to choose from and if there is a specific car of interest ,they have 5 of them. Ronnie B was my salesman and I couldn't have been happier.
