Maybe because it was raining out and more people were there to stay dry? As others have said, games are more expensive. We didn't have much cash on us so we had to be strategic about which games we played to make it last. The machines aren't very generous with tickets (although that could just be a testament to my arcade game skills). The prizes are pretty varied and some options are higher than expected (while others are lower), but they've got some good picks. I spotted a popper I wanted, but we didn't have enough tickets. The guy behind the counter told me I could have it anyway. Half Moon could definitely stand to do some upgrades, specifically to offer a card-based system so people don't have to rely on change.

Funspot is a classic amusement arcade that opened in Laconia, New Hampshire in June 1952. It was…read morefounded by American businessman and politician Robert M. Lawton. As recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, Funspot is the LARGEST arcade in the world. Originally opened as the Weirs Sports Center, then 21-year-old Lawton opened it as an indoor miniature golf course and penny arcade with $750 borrowed from his grandmother. It was originally located in the top floor of Tarlson's Arcade building across from the Weirs Beach boardwalk. In 1964, Lawton purchased 21 acres of land nearby and relocated his business there. At this time, it was renamed "Funspot". By the 1980s, arcade cabinets and pinball machines had become the most popular attractions at Funspot. The business soon switched from quarters to tokens. Lawton continued to expand the business and even opened six satellite locations, but they all closed down by the late 1990s. Funspot was heavily featured in the 2007 film "The King of Kong": a universally-acclaimed documentary about competitive arcade gaming. Today Funspot has over 600 video games (both retro and modern), pinball machines, ticket redemption machines, an indoor miniature golf course, 20-lane ten-pin and candlepin bowling, cash bingo, a restaurant, a tavern, an ice cream stand, kiddie rides and several other attractions on its grounds. It is also home to the American Classic Arcade Museum. My extended family and I visited Funspot this past summer while we were spending the week in Maine. On one day in particular, it was a little too rainy to go to the beach. Funspot was just an hour drive from where we were staying, so we made the trip and arrived in time for the opening. I have wanted to visit Funspot ever since I saw the film "The King of Kong"; it had been on my bucket list for a while. This place is HUGE; they have so many classic arcade cabinets and pinball machines from the golden age of arcade games (roughly late 1970s to early 1980s). "Donkey Kong", "Pac-Man", "Galaga", "Frogger", you name it and they had it. My wife and I had so much fun taking turns on all of the various arcade cabinets and pinball machines. I especially enjoyed playing "JAWS" pinball in a shark cage of all places. Our two sons especially enjoyed all of the various driving games as well as all of the vintage kiddie rides. My family also enjoyed a few rounds of skee-ball and air hockey. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun; I never wanted to leave. If you are a fan of classic arcades then you simply must make the pilgrimage to Funspot!

Super easy to get tokens too ($20 gets you 110, which lasts a while since old-school games are just 1 token and newer ones run 2-4). I had a great time on Burgertime and pinball--though I wish they had the Addams Family, Millionaire was still a fun one. Beyond the arcade, they've got indoor mini golf, bowling, and even a tavern, so there's something for everyone, kids and adults alike. This place is fantastic and I'll definitely be back. Pro tip: make sure to head across the street to 603 Sweets after--perfect way to end the day.

I like that there's a good slope, especially on the lawn, so that short people like me can see pretty easily. I can't speak to the food or drink quality since I've never gotten any here, but I will say that there is a nice setup of local places outside the stage area. I've heard the food prices are reasonable, and if you want to enjoy some live music while waiting for your show, there's a smaller stage out there that usually hosts a band prior to the show.

The slope of the seating could be better, as my 5' daughter and my 5'5" self found it hard to see over the heads of the people in front of us. Sound was good, and the crowd for this event was really nice as well. A few days ago my daughter and I went back for James Taylor and sat on the lawn. We rented lawn chairs for $10 each, and it was the way to go! I bout the tickets for $30 each during Live Nation week back in the spring, add on $10 for a lawn chair and $10 for parking, and we saw a great show for less than $50 per person. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the lawn - everyone was super relaxed and the view was great on the tv screen, and I could see the stage as well. Love that this venue is so clean, has games such as corn hole, etc, and has a good variety of food/drink. Prices are expensive, but all concert venues seem to be priced similarly. It did take awhile to get out of the parking lot after the show, but not nearly as bad as Xfinity in Mansfield, MA. I'll be back again in a few weeks for Paul Simon!

You'll see the wildlife, the plant life, area archaeology and a variety of special exhibits. The Museum is "kid friendly" - many of the exhibits are designed to spark the imagination of young people and there are many "hands-on" activities. Grown up kids will enjoy their visit too! We try to visit at least once a year and every time we're glad that we've come. Brian was phenomenal! His knowledge of the Lake is vast, and he has a gift for communicating in a way that is educational, fun and engaging! It's as if he's been doing this forever, and gave us a perspective on Winnipesaukee that was multi-faceted...taking in points of environmental interest such as loons and an actual volcano, human interest, such as celebrity residents, all the while cleverly weaving in the rich history of the lake, including a very heartwarming story of a young Native American man and his lovely bride to be. It was as if he was introducing the lake like an old friend. Brian is seasoned and at the same time humorous. We enthusiastically recommend this cruise. We loved it!

And even though there was a fairly stiff breeze blowing up some chop, the Millie B just plowed through it all. Just be aware that getting wet is all part of the trip.... I want to do it again! The NH Boat Museum is still housed in its location on Center Street, and you can see how great it will be when they move into their new spot in a couple of years - hopefully. Be sure you watch the historic video before going through the museum itself so you get a better sense for the things that you'll see. This isn't a big museum, and if you don't appreciate the historical significance of these boats and life in the Lakes Region, then you probably won't enjoy the 5 minutes that you'll spend walking through the exhibit. My wife and I savored each boat and read all of the documentation, and really enjoyed it.
