Complete scam. I called for an EVALUATION of my sprinkler system. I wasn't going to be home but we agreed that my son would let the person in. They sent someone over who did work and then they send my a $525 bill. Problem is I never authorized the work as I had called to get an Evaluation done for the quote. $350 Trip charge! We had a system leak last fall and asked Smitty's if they could come out and find the leak. Earliest time time they had was this summer. System was off over the winter and we would turn it off after watering but an inconvenience for sure. When 2 techs finally came out they checked the various components and unfortunately were unable to find the leak. Smittys called back several months later to see if we had found the leak or if they could come back out. (We eventually did find and repair the leak) so we advised no need to come back out. Surprisingly they then invoiced us $350 for a trip charge. Seems excessive especially since nothing was found. Waste of a lot of time. Now a waste of money. Disappointed to say the least. read more

We've used smittys a few years now for our sprinklers. They are also very quick to work on the system. This year they even reached out to schedule an appointment to shut down our system based on when they would be in the area which I really appreciated. I always remember when it's too late and a long wait. This year the guy came and after he left I was worried that our main water shut off wasn't done properly as our neighborhood has a unique system. I called to verify, and the scheduler said they had noted in the system that he called to ask for guidance. I was still a bit hesitant so they sent their lead technician back out the same day to ensure it had been done properly. We've had great success with Smitty's. But, when winterization rates from other Yelp-recommended service providers with the same stars & approcimately the same number of feedbacks run just under $100, the current Smitty's rate of $140 I can't see justification for. Certainly for additions & upgrades, Smitty's does great work. read more

I reached out to Smittys because I heard they were able to give a DIY sprinkler system setup. Initially I was under the impression it would only take a few weeks. I brought in a square footage plan and everything that I was told to bring. I heard from Smittys 3 weeks later asking for the same information again. I provided the information to them again. I didn't hear from them until 2 weeks later where I was told I never provided any information. I was told only there manager can do DIY and when I dropped my plan off I was qouted 75$. They now changed it to 150$. I do not recommend any new customer seek out this company. read more

Had them out to turn on sprinklers. Found a leaking pipe. Not their fault. Said they'd call me same day to schedule pipe fix. They didn't call for a month. Said someone was being sent to fix problem. Someone came out took pics of leaking pipe and said they'd call again to schedule fix. Never heard from them again. Smitty's is too busy for you. Try another company. read more

We had some boxwoods that were dying from obvious lack of water, Being new to Colorado, I was at the mercy getting recommendations from people I did not know. But Smitty's kept coming up, so I gave them a call. They were quick to get back to me and in 2 weeks we had a person here. It took him about an hour to not only determine the problem, but to fix it. The technician was very professional (and masked) and even gave us a tutorial on how to winterize. Great service! read more

Employees are super friendly and their selection are unbeatable! for some of us like to whine about their pricing, they are actually pretty competitive. I have used Smitty's sprinklers in the past many times. In fact, I had them install a whole backyard system for me and they did a great job. Today I went to Smitty's because a sprinkler head broke and i needed a replacement. I brought in the broken sprinkler head. The gentleman behind the counter handed me the replacement part after I gave him my broken pieces and sent me on my way. Got home only to find out what he gave me was actually not the right part. I came back an hour later to exchange the part for the correct one. However they would not refund my money for the part that they gave me which was incorrect. I was told by Carlos that I am far out of their service area and would not provide service. Either their address is wrong or they have a very short service area. My lawn is dead due to their incompetence. I've been using them several years. This year, they sent out either incompetent staff or people who just don't care. They either didn't notice or didn't tell me about my broken sprinkler heads and, despised a lot of phone calls over the past four months, have yet to send anyone out to fix it. Great staff! Very friendly, even for the bumbling do-it-yourself sprinkler person. They have several model systems that they can use to show you how to get a project done. They cut pipes of all kind to length instead of forcing you to buy 100 ft. Much better than the large commercial irrigation supply houses and definitely more helpful than the big box stores. And they're open Saturday's. All my irrigation business will go to them moving forward. read more

Scheduled a service to handle my system manifold that is leaking. They got me on the schedule 2 weeks out which I was willing to wait. The time frame was set for between 1-3 and by nearly 3:30 no show and not even a phone call. I missed half day of work. I called but only got voicemail. I sent an email to them to go ahead and cancel my appt and let them know how disappointed I was. The only response back was 2 words "will do". Not even an apology. Bad way to do business read more

Three years ago I called to have a sprinkling system checked on a house I was buying that was vacant. Smitty's told me it was useless and could not be repaired. Three years later, a competing company checked the system prior to landscaping. A new timer and cleaning out the box- one hour later... all heads operational! I am so grateful to Steve and his entire crew at Smitty's Lawn Sprinklers. I contacted a few irrigation companies for estimates on replacing my manifolds and valves, and adding a back-flow preventer and rain sensor to my existing OLD system. I poured concrete around the perimeter of my house, covering portions of my sprinkler lines, and surrounding each valve box. This deterred all other contractors from taking this job. Steve wasn't concerned at all. He was excited about buying and using a new concrete saw. Steve and his crew were so hard working and focused on solving my issues. The day of the job, I asked if he could disconnect one line under the concrete adjacent to my front foundation. Steve not only disconnected this line, but switched the valve to my backyard valve box to more logically run this line to my back yard perimeter zone. I had two boxes in my back yard. Steve combined these two boxes into one, replacing several unused valves with the three I do need. They worked a solid 8 hours to complete the job. They cleaned up both front and back work sites. And my system is performing perfectly. I am so impressed with their work ethic, professionalism, and kindness. I will use no other company for my irrigation needs. read more

I had an estimate done by them and 8 other places. They all said roughly 1500 for the job. Then came Smitty's at... 2500!! I have no idea the work they do but for 1k more than places like swingles, they would need the heads shooting out fertilizer too. Be very very careful of getting ripped off. Beware of this company! The owner is an extremely rude person with no regards to how business is run. Last year, they screwed up our winter weatherization (just after having the entire - very expensive - system installed that summer) and our entire basement flooded because their tech left a valve open. The owner wouldn't take ownership of the problem and would only refund us a small portion of the damage caused. Its an overpriced company with extremely long wait times. You're better of going elsewhere. read more

I had a new sprinkler system installed in my front yard. The original system was installed by the builders, and it never worked correctly. After years of struggling with the system and brown spots in my lawn, I decided to bite the bullet and spent a considerable amount of money to have Smitty's install a new system. Smitty himself came out to look at my set up and give me an estimate. Estimate was provided via email. I waited approximately two weeks for a return call to set up the installation date. Unfortunately, due to delays on other installations before my install, I was delayed by two days, and the final installation was delayed by three days fro the original day/time. Even with all that, I am very pleased with my new system. The worker explained everything to me and set up the timers for optimal performance. He answered all my questions. The advantage of going with a place with an actual store front, is that when I have a brown spot on my lawn, I can call them and they'll come out and fix the sprinklers. The other fly-by-night places I used in years past would "fix" the sprinkler heads, but a month later it wouldn't be working correctly and they were no where to be found and/or they wouldn't come back out to fix the system without me giving them more money. The builders for our housing development put these systems in so quick they did a poor job. Steve came out and did an outstanding job. It shows that he takes pride in what he does. I completely TRUST Smitty's. Their techs are smart, fast, hard working & knowledgeable. I used to call them every year to turn on my system and check it for efficiency. This year I skipped it and sadly some problems cropped up along with a big water bill. From now on, I will call Smitty's every year because they actually SAVE me money by keeping things running right. If I could give them a 10 star review I would. I spoke to both Chris and Sara and all I can say is WOW! You don't find businesses anymore that are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Sara went out of her way to help me fix my sprinkler zone and walked me through instructions over the phone and when I got down there figured out my problem within seconds. I will go no where else. I have used Smittys for a number of years and they have always proven to be reliable, trustworthy and very good at what they do. But they also go the extra mile time and again. I scheduled my sprinkler shut off about a month ago but didn't get the window until the day before. I was a little worried as the end window time bumped against plans I made that evening. I called as it was getting well into the window and explained the situation. I was told the arrival would be close to the end of my quoted window. But instead Bobby showed up five minutes later and quickly got the job done so I could make my plans. This is only the most recent example of the great things they do! Huge recommendation! read more

I was pleasantly surprised to be able to walk into this business with my dirty broken sprinkler part and have them quickly identify it and give me several options for repair and replacement. The two women working there were very patient, and took the time to clean up my part and show me where it was broken and how to replace it. They didn't treat me like I should know more than I do about sprinklers (not much), nor did they try to sell me anything I didn't need. With their help, I was able to repair my back flow preventer for about $50 instead of paying $400 to replace it. I would definitely recommend them for your sprinkler needs. read more

Unfortunately, he also failed to tell me what it was going to cost and we ended up receiving a bill that was outrageous and had we known, we would have made other arrangements for some of the repairs. In a mood to lay some pipe or get that nasty wet head replaced? Is your manifold constantly dripping, is your pressure just not what it should be? If you suffer from any of the above, get down to Smitty's. This is the best darn DIY sprinkler place around. I went to smitty's on a recommendation because the RainBird Design Service didn't really do a good job. RainBird Design is in California, not Colorado, so things just don't go according to the plan. Getting the expert help and a quick tutorial at Smitty's saved me much trouble in the end. I dropped one star only because some items are greatly overpriced but it doesn't sting too bad because of the customer service that they provide. read more

This is a great company, with down-to-earth techs. They've done a superb job over the years for our aging sprinkler system -- they single-handedly keep it going. There are long wait times, however, so if you have a crisis (like a pipe breaking or blowing out), you have to call someone else. We've been trying different companies, and have yet another one coming out in a couple of days. Our wait time with Smitty's would have been two weeks -- too long for our lawn to go without water in the middle of July, sadly. Prices are very fair at Smitty's. read more

Smitty's saved the day after Mile Hi Sprinklers broke the sprinkler valve during the prior year's Blow-Out, turning a $25 Blow-Out into a $150 Repair Job. Smitty's arrived on time, and performed the repair in under an hour -- Thank the Lawn Gods, since Smitty's hourly rate is super high -- think plumber rates. Yes, you pay dearly, but they are quick, efficient, and guarantee their work. By the way, unless they have another location on Smoky Hill Rd, they're not in Denver, they're located in Aurora near the CC High School. read more

These guys are great. They repaired out ancient system (we just moved in) and were very thorough in making sure everything works properly. They replaces broken head and had to build a new manifold.
