Went to Smog 1. The tech, Mohamed, didn't pass me because I needed to get an emissions label that my car didn't have. Called my Honda dealer to get them to print one for $15. Came back two days later and he wasn't working. The new guy said I didn't need the emissions label to pass the smog test (annoying) and said Mohamed noted that it didn't pass due to catalytic converter being tampered with. I told him it was stolen 4 years ago and I got it replaced. So it obviously looks tampered with. And I have had a few smog checks since then. He said I needed to come back when Mohamed was working (a week later) and he couldn't re test me for free. I couldn't wait that long, so I ended up going to Smog King. They were wonderful. Was in and out in 20 mins with no problem. Should have just come to Smog King in the first place! read more

Smog 1 is a test only station, it is located off 9077 Foothills Blvd and Albertsons Dr, right next to Midas/ Speedee Oil Change. The smog center is run by an Asian fellow called Imran. He has been at this location since 2010.. He is polite, friendly, and efficient. The customer waiting room has 2 floor heaters which is nice. They also have a restroom. There is no free WiFi. There was a TV in a break room but it was not turned on. The cost is $50 for a Smog test and certificate. There is a coupon on their website. You are only waiting 15 mins or so as he works on the required smog tests for the car . You are in and out fairly quickly. read more

Gone are the days of cheap smog tests.... It was not too long ago when you could get a smog test for around $40 with certificate. Guess the price of everything has gone up. Not my first time here, because it's not too far from home and the worker/owner of this place seems friendly and accommodating when trying to use the coupon prices posted on their website. I believe Smog 1 is a test site only, so if you keep your car in good condition, you shouldn't have any issues passing. And if your car needs work, Midas is right next door. Only thing that could make this place better is the possibility of a free or discounted re-test if your car fails. read more

READ THIS! It's long, but truthful. I've been coming here with THREE vehicles for about 12 years. Always had a quick, smooth, great experience with the owner. That ended this week. He's hired a guy that is rude, argumentative, opinionated, aggressive. After doing my truck he gets me and asks where did I get my catalytic converter. It's not showing up in the system. I told him my cat had been stolen 4 years ago at the airport and was replaced (and paid for by insurance) by a reputable shop in South Sac on Florin Rd. That set him off. "There's no good shops on Florin Rd. or Franklin or Stockton Blvd. They're all shady." "What do you expect taking your truck to the airport. You should've taken an Uber." REALLY? Basically, accused me of trying to pull a fast one by having a fly-by-night shop do it. "That number doesn't match up to a particular brand in the system. It has to say year and brand. Otherwise, they could put this on any truck." I told him that shop was reputable, that I've used them numerous times. He still ranted about them being crooks. He showed me the number, that's on the cat, in the system. Ya, it doesn't say specifically my brand. Just LDT2/MDV. Ok, it's still listed. Not good enough for him. "I can't pass this. You'll have to take it to a smog referee." I told him the owner passed it 2 years ago and I have the paperwork. Showed him. It had the same number on it. PASSED. He accepted that only because of the past paperwork. I only kept my mouth shut because I wanted it done. Otherwise, I would've blown his ears back and left. What an ass! Mr. Owner, you need to fire this guy. You've lost my business and you'll lose more business. Going to Smog King now. Have another vehicle needing smog for next month. read more

Sometimes before you can renew your car registration, the notice you get from the DMV says that you have to get your smog check at a star certified establishment. This place is one of those! Roseville is not in a county that requires employees and customers to wear masks currently, but all of the staff here wear masks and they have multiple signs in the waiting area requesting that patrons also wear them. See them go above the minimum requirement shows me that they care about their customers. I will be coming back here for every smog check from now on. read more

I will not be going to Smog1 again. Dean was condescending and complained about having to do my smog. If your vehicle just needs to be plugged in for smog, no big deal. But if he has to actually work, he will complain about it. He even tried to give me a hard time for wanting to put bigger tires on my vehicle. This is not my primary vehicle, and also this is America. Sorry that I'm not your typical California socialist. After failing due to the previous owner's terrible exhaust work, I bought a CARB approved catalytic converter and had a new exhaust installed. The exhaust guy took much longer to finish, and I wasn't able to come into Smog1 until later that day. "You're late" is the first thing Dean says to me when I walk in. Mind you, I did not have an appointment so no harm on scheduling. Dean continued to be condescending and hinted that I did all the exhaust work and was trying to get around the system. I have almost half of what I bought the vehicle for into this smog/ registration process. The exhaust guy installed the cat to where the EO number was on top, but still clearly visible on the part. I asked questions about the cat itself, and you could clearly tell Dean did not want to do his job. First off, this is not associated with Midas at all. It is in the same building but they each are their own separate business. First off, Mohammed is very polite and and quick. This guys is here for one thing and you are there for one thing as well. Get your vehicle smogged and hope it passes. He can service you quickly so long you have your paper work handy and here is a tip! Get you odometer reading before you shut the door. It makes the paper work easier for him and you! I took my daughters '04 Mazda Mazda3 here in January and it failed. Mainly because there was a fuel filler leak and evap hose leak as well. He said get it fixed and come back within 30 days. I got what needed to be fixed and showed exactly 30 days later (though I would have showed up earlier but those with family and kids know how things can slip by rather quickly). 5 months later and as of this post I took my '00 Durango. A large RV was in front of me when I got there. Filled out my paper work, went to the bathroom to wash my hands and when I came out the RV was gone and my Durango was in line and ready to get smogged. Pass? Yep it did! And I was outta there! First, let me start by saying this entire industry (smog control and the subsequent companies that provide service) are participating in a government sanctioned shakedown. It's remarkable that the mafia isn't somehow involved at some level. I arrived to get my Jeep smog checked. By the way, I had to pay close to $3000 when I moved here 2 years ago to exchange the carburetor for a California certified fuel injection system. I took the yelp reviews here as an indication that perhaps this might be a descent place to get my car smogged. Don't believe all the unicorns and rainbow reviews. Nope. According to the man, "we don't take that kind of car." I felt perhaps I was somehow experiencing automobile discrimination. I asked, "what kind of car is that?" "Your kind." He responded. And I asked "Why is my car unacceptable?" And he replied, "it's too old." So I asked, "do you know where I can get it checked?" His response walking away was "not my problem." So now I am making it a bit of his problem. Unless your car is brand new or nearly new, apparently you will be turned away. I would not go here, nor would I suggest anyone else go or you might risk wasting time.
