These guys are great, quick efficient,no drama, and no hassle. Also they are open on Saturdays, which is a big bonus as many others are not. Why aren't others open is beyond me. I took my old 1989 BMW, and they were able to test it, they are a Star certified facility. It passed by the way. Then same day right about closing time 2:30 pm, I took my other car in because I discovered it needed to be smogged too. I was in and out both times in 15-20 minutes there was only one car ahead of me. They are really fast! Added bonus they are friendly too. If I need to get my cars smogged in LA this is where I will go for the years to come. read more

A very polite man owns this shop with his brother who is really good at violating your personal space. The in-your-face brother wants his sushi prepared by Japanese men, and would rather Armenians than Mexicans operate and serve at Zankou chicken. Also, he doesn't like French food and was not at all surprised when a Black family went into the expensive French restaurant facing their shop, which presents as a cheap Thai food restaurant, and left ten seconds later. I believe they were suggesting that this Black family either did not care for French food or for the price. Maybe both! The nice brother assumed that I would probably prefer kosher food and thinks my domain name sounds like a woman's. I'm grateful for the quick smog check and that they stayed open a little late for me. For the record: I enjoy Zankou chicken no matter who is operating or serving at their locations right now. I've had really good sushi served to me by people who did not appear to be Japanese. I'm pretty much an atheist no matter how much my face resembles the map of Jerusalem and I don't really care if you think my domain name sounds like it should be my wife's. And I'm not married at the moment. read more

Great experience here! They were fast - literally I was in and out within 15 minutes. One of the guys, Greg was super nice and even insisted on me trying this Korean boiled egg (it was good!) since I was on my lunch break and hadn't eaten yet. Be informed that they are currently located on La Brea & Olympic (the above address is wrong). Not sure if this is permanent or temporary. I am definitely going back whenever I need a smog check. $70 for my vehicle to be smogged which is standard for my vehicle. They were quick and even personally recognized that I maintain my car well. Smog check places are a dime a dozen and so as long as they don't lie about checks and make you buy things like gas caps and whatnot, then they are fairly similar. That being said, these guys are quick and respectful. read more

These guys were great. I brought car for smog here (and they're star certified which was required for my smog check). Unfortunately my car didn't pass (because honestly I suck at taking care of my vehicle and check engine light was on) so was going to have to pay for another full smog, I went and repaired the issues (sensor issues) and brought it back and realized they basically do the updated smog for almost nothing if you already brought it before and failed -- that was great! Also, it was really quick (both the failed time and the successful time). Great place. read more

A first timer at Smog Control at Highland & Melrose, one car ahead of us, not a long wait, very quick service. I called ahead of time to inquire about price. Older cars do have an extra test, so price is $80, lower for newer cars. Price includes the smog test, Evap test, and certificate. Called one other place, they wanted more. BEST PLACE EVER! I had gone to another place for my smog check. Something was weird with my car so after a few failed attempts he sent me away with no reason or advice on where to go. I found Smog Control - drove right in. They had the same issue at first - but he figured out what was wrong very quickly, did the check and I passed and was done. A smog certificate is often that one,pain in the rear,state required chore,that I put off and intensely dislike dealing with! These guys eased the pain exponentially!
