I had a free Sunday to get my car smogged and turned to Yelp. I started with shops near my home. After 2 failed attempts at finding an open location (places that were supposed to be open but were actually closed), I turned back to Yelp and found Smog King. It was further away from home, but they were supposed to be open, so I drove over. I was really surprised there was no line. I basically parked my car and went inside. I was walked through the pricing, and once agreed, we started the paperwork. It was a snap - basically they do everything - and I sat down and waited. Less than 10 minutes went by and everything was done. Pay via credit card on the terminal and away I went! There was an online coupon for $20 as well, which made the deal even sweeter! Smog King? I thought the name was silly and I was going to pass on it, but it's close, the online appointment system was easy, and I could get right in. So, I booked and was right on time. I was greeted by a friendly young man ( I wish I could remember his name) and he moved my Jeep right into the bay. He knew how to drive a standard and wheeled it around easily. ..... so I leave my work this morning cus I call the wrong smog shop to verify my smog inspection at 11:15 AM for another smog shop who tells me I don't have to have an appointment just come on over that I already made a few minutes before at the right smog shop ( Smog King )... Duuuuuhh!!! ...... I get to Smog king and Jeff the smog tech politely tells me I need an appointment but I told him I called this place and a lady with a Russian accent told me no appointment is required .... Jeff says , " there's no Russian lady working here but I see you have an appointment at 11:15 .... I'll do your inspection now cus' the customer hasn't showed up " ...... I recently purchased a car from another state, and I need to get a smog. The first time I went to The Smog King the gentleman was very nice, but sad to say my car did not pass. He advised me to drive the car and put on extra miles, which I did. I again went into the shop, and again a very nice person; His name was Gael. We showed up with an F350 Dually with a cab over camper attached and experienced no issues. We have taken it to other places and what a hassle, we have to help the technicians maneuver the truck without damaging it. Adam at Smog King was fabulous, knew exactly how to maneuver the truck with confidence and our smog was completed so quickly. We got there at about 8:45, they open at 9:00, we were out of there by 9:20! I mentioned coupon discounts but the person insisted I should have printed the discount etc etc when the coupon is for general public with no bar code etc, unnecessary details to complicate things rather than facilitating customers. Not sure Why the owner Brian feels the need to provide blatantly false and untrue comments. Mistakes do happen and as the owner you should try and make things right with your customers instead of providing false information. Here are the facts: *Smog King does not guarantee 100% accuracy of their smog tests. DMV did not accept the smog test from Smog Kings. I went back to try and resolve a 2nd time and was given inaccurate information from his employee. Another smog place passed the vehicle the first time and no issue with DMV accepting. *I offered to provide Brian with all the relevant information on the mistake Smog King made. Including my title (which matched the vin#) and the smog test that passed from the other place that tested and passed with DMV. Brian would not accept that information and provided no refund despite the fact that I had to pay another business to smog the vehicle correctly. *Smog King did not provide me a refund. I did a charge back on my credit card and provided the credit card company all the relevant information that I was charged for a service I did not receive. Despite the fact that the vin# on the bar code matched the title and the vin# on the front window dashboard , Brian still refused to provide a refund. It is unfortunate that this owner chooses to provide false information. I want to support small business in my area and gave Brian every opportunity to make things right. read more
