Once you show up, you wait in your car in the parking lot for 45 minutes to an hour before anyone talks price with you. Then come the surcharges: $20 for SUV, $20 for luxury, $20 for hybrid, $20 for out-of-state, $20 for STAR-directed, plus the state cert fee. They stack. A car that looked like a $31.75 job on the coupon can land in the $80-$160 range depending on which boxes it ticks -- and you don't find that out until you've already committed the time. Their "$30 off with credit card" line is worth calling out too: they run two entirely different price sheets for cash and card, so the "discount" comes off an inflated base. It's not a discount, it's a way to make the coupon sound better than it is. If they simply posted the real, all-in price a car like yours would pay, this would be an ordinary transaction. Instead the whole setup seems built around keeping that number hidden until you're too far in to walk. Read the other 1-star reviews. Same story over and over: advertised price, long wait, final bill 2-3x what you expected, pushback goes nowhere. Do yourself a favor: call any other smog station in the area, get an all-in quote for your specific vehicle, and I bet you'd go there instead.
