Me, who NEVER wants to wait EVER, decided to come close to opening time when the shop opens. I arrived at 8:30 and there was a boat load of people in there lol The old man told me it would be 30 minutes, so I decided to wait. I thought of going back in 3 or 4 times and telling the old man that I would comeback, but decided against it. After about 10 minutes they moved my SUV and I was next. Thank god I have patience. I waited another 10 minutes and I was paying for my smog check and had passed the test. They email the results directly to the DMV and Im now good for another two years. It cost $48 but it was worth it The old man has some rough edges and not the best at customer service which is why they're only getting 4 stars... My Bottom line. Yes I will go back here again, as its closest to my house. I will try next time to go closer to 7:55 am so I wont have to wait so long. read more

Very quick , no fuss , and professional service. Does it suck to pay the state more money ? Yes, it does, but pricing is fair. However, this place is my go to place for smog check for the last 16 years and I would only go this place. The one on Blackstone is good too, but I live in Clovis. They are pretty quick and do the job just know the coupon does nothing for the price. They are not the cheapest at all and there's a really nice place down the street a bit that saves you a couple bucks. I just don't like it when they advertise like they are helping you out with a coupon and then they are $5 more then the person down the street. Total is $48 read more

They refused to smog my car tbh this is the second car they refused to do I went in like two months prior and they gave me some excuse that they ran out of CAL gas or something but they said that they would do it next time so I went in today and thought that since they agreed to do it nothing would came but the mechanic just flat out refused I took it to the next block over at THRIFTY SMOG the man there was beyond helpful and was able to fit me in in like 20 min so thankful for the guys at THRIFTY SMOG read more

Extremely quick service; in and out in roughly 20 minutes. The guy at the counter was very to the point and didn't talk a whole lot but got right down to business. The waiting room can get pretty hot during the summer heat and the door is left wide open. Expect to see Jerry Springer, The Steve Wilkos Show, etc. on tv while you wait. As I previously mentioned after about 20 minutes of waiting and walking around outside with my son we were called back in to let us know our car was already done which surprised us by how quick they were. Again, the guy was very direct and concise and gave us our total of $48 and told us he already included the online discount and that he didn't need to see it on my phone. He handed over the receipt and my keys and told us the DMV would be notified that our car passed inspection. I'll definitely come back here for future smog checks! I went to the place to try to get my truck smogged. I handed the Asian guy a $20 discount cupon. The guys says there a vacuume hose off the air intake that he's never seen before. Implying it's an after market tampered job. He says he does not want to certify it. So I take it to another smog master and the truck passes with no problems. I suspect the guy just didn't want to honor the $20 discount cupon. That's fine, he'll never see my business again. read more

My husband and I had to have a smog done on both of our vehicles. We discovered Smog Master through a map search of Smog stations in my area. Mike eagerly helped us. We were able to walk in, smog both vehicles simultaneously, in about 20 minutes. All while we waited in a clean, safe, socially distanced waiting room. On 06/16/2021 at around 8am I took my car in for Smog check to Smog Master on Barstow in Clovis. Inspector Richey Alan ( his ID EO134827) performed a smog check on my car. After his service when I got back to my car I noticed that the trunk of my car is open. I got out of my car to close it and noticed that the trunk latch is broken and was not able to fully close it.. I did not have any problem with the latch of my car trunk before I brought my car in there. So I called Alan back right away and let him know about the problem. He said that I should be calling my mechanic to fix the trunk latch and not him. He was extremely rude and completely refused to take any kind of responsibility for the latch that he broke! It is so obvious that he was trying to open the hood of my car and accidentally opened the trunk and forgot to close it! The latch got damaged while he was performing the smog check! He got so angry at me that i called him trying to address the damage caused by his sloppy service so he yelled at me at his customer that paid his business 40 dollars for the smog check that did not pass because my car computer memory was wiped out and i would need to drive my car up 100 miles to reset it . He knew that from the very beginning as soon as he plugged in his equipment. Nevertheless he decided to perform smog check anyway so he could charge me for the smog check even if he knew right away it would fail! So he told me not to bring my car to his location ever again and get my car smogged somewhere else. He also added that I was rude to him from the very beginning because I was on my phone and would not talk to him???Anyway be aware, ladies and gentlemen and save your valuable time, money and your car from being damaged at this location and take it for a smog check somewhere else! read more

Smog Master is tucked away at the back of a large car wash off Van Nuys. With a coupon I went to get a smog check but the check engine light came on. The owner did a diagnostic and identified the problem, advised me to get it resolved as it would fail the test. He was right. He didn't have to take the time, but he cared and when I went back the test was swift, thorough (they gave me some other pointers and quick fixed a gas cap issue) and extremely courteous and professional. This place is easy to find, if you are headed east on Barstow it is on the right about a block and a half past Clovis Ave. Go in the service door and someone will come in and take care of you. If you don't have a coupon, don't worry! They will be happy to give you the coupon price. The office could use a good cleaning but the chairs are comfortable and clean and they have a flat screen TV to watch. You won't be there long though, I didn't have an appointment but I was still in and out within 15-20 minutes. $48.00 and done, how easy is that? They send everything to the DMV electronically. I read some of the other older reviews which mention an Asian man that was rude, perhaps he is no longer there? I had a Caucasian guy who didn't talk much but he was very cordial. Another thing to note, my car is a 1999 Nissan, everywhere else I called said it would be an extra $10 charge because of the age...really? Not here, same price as every other car. I will be back, every time I need a smog! I would give them 10 stars if I could. Thanks guys for a job well done. I had never used my credit card for anything else ever until I went to Smog Masters, then hours later I had multiple fraudulent charges from the businesses surrounding Smog Masters! Definitely 5 stars. I called for a quote on a smog and an estimate on how long the wait time would be... $68 and 30-45 minutes. I went in an hour later and he took my information and car key... no wait at all, I went shopping and came back exactly 45 minutes later. The car passed, I paid and walked out. I come to this place a lot to smog my work trucks for the company i am with. Last week i got a smog done then accidentally paid with my personal debit card instead of the company card. No big deal. So i ask for a refund. I thought it was strange that he used the machine to refund my money since everytime i have gotten a refund to my debit card it is done in cash. I dont think anything of it then say thank you and pay with my company card. I check my bank statement and no refund on there. I think "maybe it needs to clear first". After a few days it clears and still no refund. I went in to smog masters today to inform the same employee, Kevin. I show him the purchase receipt for both cards and the refund receipt. Then i show him my bank statement proving there has been no money returned to my account. He starts saying "well its on the receipt so theres nothing i can do for you". Basically accusing me of lying. I work 60 hours a week, the last thing i want to do is waste my time on my day off so i can go hustle someone for $58. F*cking joke. So he refuses to give me my money. They need to make this right. I dont want to have to make a dispute with my bank over such a small amount of money but im also not going to flush $58 down the toilet because of Kevin's incompetence. If they refuse to give me my money back then ill be forced to file the dispute and they will lose any future business i would bring to them. read more
