My Daughter in law recommended this smog center and I'm happy she did. I first called to see if I needed an appointment and spoke to Reed. He was very friendly and said that they take walk-ins only. Reed greeted me and told me where to park. There was only one person ahead of me and within a few minutes, I was waited on. The owner does the smog testing and he started the process and within 25 minutes it was done. Reed said that my 2007 Corvette passed. 5*****...........I went there during my lunch break yesterday and I did not have any coupons. I browsed my phone while I was talking to the lady in reception and luckily found one. This is THE place to go in Thousand Oaks. 10 minutes and you're done and if it takes 15 minutes there's always that Irish restaurant (bar) across the street. I have several cars, trucks and one of them is always up for renewal. Thank you guys because I know you take care of me. One of my vehicles sits for MONTHS unused. I was selling it and had to have it jumped because it hadn't been used for a while. Took it to a place in Camarillo because the buyer wanted something close. Van failed. Took it here, explained that the van had passed a few months ago (more than 90 days though) and she asked me a couple of questions (did you have to have it jumped?) because that makes a difference. Amazing experience. Was there by 7:55am. They opened up shop at 8am. Two people were ahead of me and by 830 I was already on my way to work to be there by 9. Each smog took about 10 minutes? Can't get any better. Also, they took my 20$ discount. So 48$ and 30 minutes later I got my smog done and passed and made it to work on time. No not venting about his car not passing , just saying your over priced... Every other smog tester even the shop behind yours is between 32.00$ and 40.00$ without a coupon ! My son not knowing your price for a smog is outrageous , him being 19 years old and not knowing better picked you because of the coupon savings but in reality there was no savings just coupon blindness ! I took my car here to get a Test Only service due to DMV requirement for vehicle registration. My vehicle failed the smog test, and I paid the full price of approximately $71. I was informed that my vehicle needed repairs in order to pass. I was also informed that the vehicle will be re-tested a no charge and when I come back. I left this place and drove to a mechanic shop right away. The mechanic shop performs smog checks too, but they are not a Test Only center. The mechanic hooked my car up and ran a smog test and informed me my car passed and it was fine. I asked my mechanic to recommend a different Test Only shop that I can go to. My mechanic asked me why I didn't want to go back to the Thousand Oaks Smog Test Only place on Skyline Dr. I informed my mechanic that my car failed the smog test there and while the mechanic said my car passed smog which showed discrepancy with the testing procedures. I informed my mechanic I'm willing to go to a different shop and forgo the free retest because I don't want to deal with this place again. My mechanic recommended me to a STAR/Test Only shop. I went there and my car passed. This was all done in the same day. That was my experience with this place. My car failed here and yet passed at 2 other places which pretty much have their equipment to the standard of the California Air Resource Board. This very same vehicle needed a smog check again recently and I went back to the STAR/Test Only center that my mechanic recommended and my vehicle passed smog again 2 years later. read more

There are so many coupons for smog checks that what brought me in here was the claim that they would beat "Any advertised price in the Conejo Valley". When I showed them my coupon for $24.99 they said they can't beat it because it was a repair shop as well as smog check. Very misleading. I was assured they were following proper Covid-19 safety guidelines as they are an essential business. That was not the case -- the woman working the desk was wearing a mask but did not keep her distance -- there wasn't enough room in her reception area to do so. The man working on the cars was NOT wearing a mask, and not only did he NOT keep his distance but almost made it a point to get too close when it was not necessary to do so. He was rude and unpleasant. This was a very stressful experience, mostly due to the pandemic situation. If it had been any other time, it may not have seemed as bad. read more

I am new to CA and new to the Conejo Valley area. I had a major service done a few blocks down the road at Honda of Thousand Oaks and knew I needed to get a smog check to register my Honda. This place came very highly recommended by my tech and I can see why. It's a small operation with just the owner and his son in the garage when I was there. They were very knowledgeable of the DMV process and were super straightforward and down-to-earth. They were done with my car in about 20 minutes after pulling up. I wasn't sure it was possible to have a "5 star" experience at a smog test place, but I did! I called around and this was the best price (mention their phone special). I went in and they took in my car right away. The guy tested it and while I was waiting I talked to the girl working the register. She was hilarious! And she had such a great outlook on life; so positive and so funny. They made a great team and I was out of there before I knew it with a smile on my face. When we went in today to get a standard smog check done on a car, the receptionist began to treat us as if we were idiots. She was incredibly mean to us, and when we asked to see the manager we found out she's the managers step-daughter! He then began to berate us until we left. read more

AMAZING customer service. I called 15 minutes after they already closed and Collin who was working that day said, "I'm just finishing up a car so I'll wait for you if you want to come in." I cannot believe on a Memorial Weekend that someone would want to stay later at work when it's beautiful outside and service my car. On top of all that friendliness Yelp offers a $20 coupon when you check in there!!! I love Yelp and I love Collin. My smog was $48 after the coupon. The service was quick and efficient and I passed the smog test. Collin was done with my car in about 15 minutes. Best experience I've had with smog centers. Very lucky to find this place with Yelp. Everyone was nice and helpful. I didn't use any coupons or try to match another local place for a cheaper price. Their regular price was the same as most places. But I did overhear how helpful they were with other customers there and on the phone. They were very friendly about price matching other deals. I used yelp to find them and noticed when I got home that they had a great deal to save $20 when you check-in through yelp. But I'm so pleased with their service and help that I don't even mind paying regular price. This will be my regular place to go now and will recommend this place to friends. read more

I've been going here for years. My son who now lives in San Fransisco waited until he visited recently just to test at Smog Test Only Centers (TO). I'll never forget the first time I came here. The owner (all tattooed and such) made me a bit leery. But he is too the point, does his job exceptionally well, and if not busy, he will chat Mopar's with you! The woman at the desk (his daughter in law) knows the business. I can't remember a time where she seemed "down." She is just a person you love to do business with. The son (though quieter) is just as good as his dad. BTW, the law does not allow a test only center to do much for the customer. But these guy go right to the limit.. Time after time I have seen them do what is in the customers best interest. I won't reiterate what all the good reviewers say, but I will say they are accurate. Sad to see a few negative reviews. I'd chalk them up to the customer not asking regarding price. Others seem naive about how the smog test works. A little knowledge and a few of the right questions are all that is needed. I hate having to have a smog test (waiting to see if your car passes is like waiting to see if you have cancer). But, it's the law and I can't think of a better place to have to go through the process. read more

My Fiance when to this place to get a standard smog test only to call me on the phone crying because of how rude the lady at the front desk was to her. I asked her to put the lady on the phone to figure out what had happened and what needed to be done to complete the smog certification with me. The lady was rude before i hd even said a word to her. With my Fiance still crying in the car, i decided to drive over there as the woman on the phone did not want to talk to me or answer any questions i had. When i arrived i asked the man at the counter if the lady who i spoke with on the phone was still there to which he answered "You mean my step daughter? Right there i knew this was going to be an issue. I told him that she was rude and i came by to get some questions i had answered and he proceeded to attack me and tell me how dumb i was for listening to my mechanic and that he was also a "dumb-ass". He told me that i needed to listen to him because he was right and when I tried to question what he said he asked me to leave and proceeded to be very rude. I would never recommend this business for anyone. The service was horrible and as the manager he is defending his step daughter, who obviously has no social experience at all. She was rude, he was rude, and i am surprised a place like this still gets business. also found out the mechanic has an expired license to even work. They failed my car on some obscure visual exam that they say ONLY THEY would notice (and would pass at any other smog test center). My car did pass the emissions test. I have done research on this arcane opinion, and am convinced that this visual inspection and "fail" is bogus. Now I have to scramble around, and spend hours of my life trying to straighten this out.
