"I open up at 8," he says. More like 8:45 each and every time. We're always greeted w/ attitude, and now some BS story about "it takes an hour to do your car as it's older than 2000." Called them to find out if I needed an appointment and after confirming the model and year of my car, he said didn't need one and could just drop in and that it would take less than 15 minutes. I just had a repair done on my car and was told that as a result of that I didn't pass the test. I was told that I have to do 15 driving cycles before I can retest and pass. I stopped by on a Thursday afternoon for a smog check for my 2014 BMW diesel. Ray greeted me and asked me to take a seat at his table....he then gave me a cold bottle of water to drink. Pleasant, professional, cares about your time, conveniently located if you're in this area. This is a single man operation. I tried dropping in after work on a Friday afternoon and he was too busy to take my 95 model year OBD1 car. It requires the rollers and is more time intensive. He recommended I come back the following morning at 8:15a. I did, he was ready for me. As he was testing my car he helped another gentleman at the same time (newer car, plug in only), then extended the same courtesy to another person who showed up, advising them when to come back. Exceptional service for Yelpers. You get $10 off your smog test. Mine was $49 after discount. I called many places and Smog Wiser was professional, courteous and honest. He didn't try to rip me off and I respect that above all. I tried all the other places who were suggested on the state smog test website and they were trying to charge me $80+, but they advertised these weird arbitrary coupons for cars built prior to 2006. Ugh- just drop everything and go to Smog Wiser! No bullshit coupons or gimmicks! My friend suggested this place and I'm so glad I went in. Took 15 minutes and I was out the door with my pass certificate and assurance that the results would be reported to DMV. Done and done! This was such an easy experience! When I got the DMV notice that I had to do smog check I wasn't looking forward to it. But this was a snap. I got there, pulled up, and was out of there within about 15 minutes. The cost was very fair and there was a $10 yelp coupon. The gentleman who helped me was very nice. I absolutely recommend this place anytime you need a smog check. It is also in the same little lot as a gas station, a service station, and a guy who does the most amazing car wash detailing.
