5 Star reasons: 1. Called a few places and got different quotes, this place seemed more expensive $50, but the owner explained to me that the other places never tell you about the additional fees, the DMV fees, and the certificate fee. Also call over the phone before to get the $50 2. Owner was honest and professional (super rare in the car business) and VERY nice 3. I called him right at 8:00 am and he told me to come over. The actual check took 13 minutes. The whole process was 20 minutes and I was out the door. 4. He uploaded the smog check electronically and straight to the DMV which is very close by (maybe 5 minute drive if that). What else could you ask for in a smog check?! read more

Went to register my car and found out I needed a smog test. Checked out my favorite app, YELP, and found Smog Zone. The reviews were fantastic and they had a check in deal so I had to go. In 15 years of driving I've never had a bad experience getting a smog check like I did today The manager was rude and tried to intimidate me having all his employees come around me if I did not agree with what he was saying ...this place is a complete rip off and I'd rather drive 30 miles out of my way then go here again I suggest anyone thinking of going here think twice it is Way too overpriced bad service and there's a place next door that would do it for half so why waste your time and money on total frauds read more

Haik is the man! Ive been to other smog places before that wanted to charge me almost 100 dollars just for the test. I called smog zone and the price was very reasonable and Haik hooked me up with a 10 dollar off coupon as well. It was fast and easy. I'm definitely going back there next year for the smog and will definitely recommend this place to my friends and family. You rock Haik, keep up the good work! read more

Found these guys on Yelp and they definitely didn't disappoint! Every review was completely accurate. They are fast, efficient, and really kind! I didn't have to waste a whole day doing a smog test. These guys are the only place I'd ever take my car to. Reasons why: 1. Fast. No line. No appointment needed, although I think it's always smart to make one anywhere you go anyway. 2. Clean shop. Not sloppy or a mess like most garages or smog places. Very organized. 3. The guys there are so friendly and professional. They really know their stuff. 4. They can do YOUR REGISTRATION for you right there. I didn't have to go to the DMV or wait in any lines. I just went right ahead and let them do it for me after I passed smog and it took two seconds. Got my tags right there. I've never been to any other smog place with a service like that. Overall, these guys are the whole package. Thorough, nice, knowledgable, fast, and saved me a horrible trip to the DMV, which is worth $1000 alone!!! GO GO GO read more

Smog Zone was recommended to me by my great auto mechanic Auto Aid. It was a great experience, for something that's required by the DMV. Just drove in, took only about 15 minutes to get checked out, my car passed, and the price was a reasonable $60! This place is the best! read more

This is my new smog spot for sure! I went at noon and was the only one there (apparently just in time before the lunch rush). It literally took 3 minutes. It's very affordable,even without the coupon you get for being a Yelper. I was going to a place that was farther from home and 4 TIMES the price, probably because I'm a girl but this place is honest, friendly, and awesome. Like I said, my new spot! read more

One of the worst things about California - the dreaded smog check. Smog Zone does what they can to make the experience as good as they can. Jack immediately greeted me, told me it would be about 15 minutes, and invited me to wait inside while I paid my DMV registration online. The office is currently being updated, but it was clean, smelled fresh, and had plenty of seating. By the time I finished my registration, my car was already being prepared for service. Jack has been in business since the 1980s and at this location for the last 10 years, and you can tell he knows his stuff. He was friendly, funny, and easy to talk to. Yelp sent my request to five smog shops, and Jack was the first to respond and had the best pricing. He even took the time to explain what a "Star certified smog" meant when another shop said they weren't. Quick, stress-free, and great customer service. Getting your car smogged a pleasant experience? Actually yes! We just moved into the neighborhood and its always a hassle trying to wade through the incredible number of shady mechanics and car services until you find one you can trust. Usually along the way you find jerks, smooth talkers, idiots and sleaze balls. Lucky for me I found these guys through Yelp and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the great reviews were right on the mark. The gentleman working there was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and fast. Unlike some garages where you feel like getting a root canal might be more comfortable than being there, this place has a family run, neighborhood feel that makes you feel that you are in good hands. In fact, as I was talking to the guy, I found out that his dad actually runs a full garage right across the street. From now on, not only will I be getting any smog checks done here but I think I have found a garage for oil changes and any work I need done. Highly recommended! read more

Super fast, great service, no hassle, excellent operation. There is no doubt Smog Zone Van Nuys is the place to get a smog check done. I took my 2004 Honda civic there for a smog test on a Saturday, and was in and out in under half an hour. The owner, Haik, is extremely knowledgeable and has been in the business for over a decade. Very friendly, great service, and the price is great. You can plan your day knowing when you come to this operation, you won't be held up for hours waiting for your smog test to be done. Honest people in any business are hard to come by - but you can tell that the owners of this business are good people and are not trying to scam anyone. They got me in and out fast! I was looking on Yelp for a smog testing facility in my neighborhood, and found myself consistently put off by either the reviews or low ratings. I was thinking that I might have to settle for a less than pleasant experience when I finally came across Smog Zone. Like I said, they got me in and out fast. I was maybe there 10 minutes, and that includes the time I waited for them to finish checking a vehicle they had been testing when I arrived. They finished my test only a few minutes after I had filled out the paperwork. They were polite, quick and I plan to use them the next time I need a smog test. This is the place I go every time I need to get a smog test. The man who runs the business is so friendly and so nice, and so professional. And since the move (they used to be located across the street), it's actually even better, because there is much more room now, and it's easier to get in and out. There is now a small parking lot, so if you have to wait, it's no big deal. That being said, I've never had to wait. And if you call ahead, he'll let you know how busy he is, and when the best time to come in is. This is the sort of place that I prefer to give my business to, because it has that personal touch that I appreciate. One last thing: the chairs in the waiting area are really comfortable. read more

I have been going to Smog Zone for years now, and every time, it has been a great experience. This is my second review for these guys. I have been to other places in the past and these guys by far are the best. Haik and his staff have always been friendly, professional, efficient, and very informative. They have all the latest equipment and know what they are doing. I wouldn't want to go to anyone else. I needed a smog so i was calling around trying to find a good deal. All these places i called were giving me the run around and charging way too much. Then the places that had reasonable prices were charging hidden fees. I found smog zone on this site and called. The owner quoted me a reasonable price and promised no hidden fees or charges. I went and got my smog done there and he charged the price as quoted. He is very friendly, fast, and efficient. He even give helpfull tips on how to maintain your car. I highly recommend smog zone. Haik has been taking care of our old mitsubishi for years. He is so good with cars that he knows exactly what's wrong before we even take the test so we can fix it and not waste our money doing a smog test we might fail. He is always honest, forthright and looking out for your best interest. I live in Marina Del Rey and would rather drive all the way to see Haik than waste my $$ anywhere with people who aren't as thorough or caring. By the way... with Haik's expertise and knowledge we never fail a test. And our old jalopy keeps running. read more

These guys are as legit as it gets. I had 2 cars ahead of me and was in and out in 30 minutes. Great guy and very professional. The shop is clean and air conditioned on the inside. Parking was crowded and the owner Haik accomodated a space for me. I suggest anyone that needs to be in and out and on with thier day come to this shop! They also are DMV designated registrars so you can actually take care of the whole registration process at the shop and recieve your tags on the spot! I went to a different shop and they told me my vehicle needed a few hundred dollars in repair. So i had a second to look at it , the previous shop told that the timing was off, so i brought my car here and they took a look at the vehicle and it turns out there was nothing wrong with the car. they didn't just save me money they saved me the hassle of looking for another smog place in the future i couldn't be anymore pleased with the results. I went to Smog Zone today @ 14125 Oxnard Street in the city of Van Nuys. My first time being there and I have to say I am happy to have found a new smog place. In the past I have had bad customer service, long wait time or just lazy people to do my smog. Haik @ Smog zone was very friendly and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Great Service,high energy and Knowledgeable guys over @ smog zone. I will be going back to only this spot. I also will be telling all my friends and family about this place. Ask for Haik . read more

Haik could not have been more professional. I called twice before going in and both times he answered with a friendly, warm greeting. Haik was prepared when I showed up and took my car immediately. Because my car is older, he requested that I give him a heads up before arriving so that he could set up the special equipment for its' testing. I was in and out in no time and even though my car passed, he took the time to explain the test results to me. What a guy. Oh, and the place was clean and comfortable. read more

Had to go to the DMV to get my car registered for CA (I just moved here) and found out that I needed a smog test. I located this place on yelp and decided to stop by since it wans't far from the DMV. All of the reviews were true. It took the young man 15 min (or less) to do the test and get me on my way. Cost was $50 and the most difficult part was actually finding the entrance (it is in the middle of a strip of shops). When I have to get the smog renewal, I will be going back here for sure. read more

It was finally time to smog my Lamborghini Murcielago, and with my busy schedule I needed it done promptly. When looking for a smog station, I wanted to avoid being overcharged just because my car is a Lamborghini and not a Honda. After all, a smog is a smog. The work is the same. I stumbled upon Smog Zone, and Haik quoted me a lot cheaper than other places, even for my Lamborghini. He did a quick job, took care in his work, and was very informative. Overall, very pleased. I have a tercel which needed to pass a smog first I took it to my Machanic he said everything was good in it so I went to different smog places telling me that some things need to be fix trying to get extra money off me when I knew everything was fine in my car so I went here 2 days ago this guys are trustworthy good customer service and fast I strongly recommend this place other places were lying to me, i didn't have any problems here and my car passed the smog thanks guys read more

Unfortunately I knew nothing of Smog Zone when I drove in. If I had, I would have been going to them for a long time. Haik impressed me immediately. He is pleasant and professional. He made every effort to get me through quickly even though he had three cars ahead of me. One hour later, my car was ready. The building is clean and bright, and unlike other smog stations I didn't feel weird being there. Smog Zone is now my only smog check station! read more

I always dread receiving the DMV renewal that says "Please take this notice to a SMOG check station"! So, naturally, I put off going to get my car tested until just a few days before my renewal is due... luckily these guys are super nice and super efficient. I was in and out of their shop in about 30 minutes, with no appointment, and with two people ahead of me when I first arrived! Would absolutely come back here the next time I need a smog test. read more

Had never been to Smog Zone before, but my first experience there was a great one! I was due for a Smog Check and Haik helped me immediately, took care of everything, processed my DMV registration renewal and gave me my sticker, and did all of it very safely (with a mask on and a plexiglass wall up at the payment desk). It was a smooth and easy process, and then I was on my way back home. Would definitely recommend, and will return again! read more

To customer who is looking for a SMOG test check that has Shop-DMV online submission, SmogZone is the place: I was here this morning, 10/19/19. Haik is straight forward, i showed my DMV notice and took my car right away. Website says open at 9am, i arrived 8:50am done at 8:59am and pass! To Haik: Keep this kind of service man, not like others with blah blah blah and say need to fix something only to make money. Thumbs up to you Haik! read more

This place was recommeded by a friend. A bit difficult to spot, just west of Hazeltine on Oxnard, but fairly priced and nice people you could understand. Even though I had no wait, they've got a waiting area that you can view your car as it is getting tested!! Important to keep an eye out and for asking questions. Fairly priced after checking around with other locations. I had no coupon, so $60.00 I'll go back for next year's check! read more
