I called ahead for price comparison before going to Smog n Dash. The price sounded fair so I took my car in. When I arrived at the shop, the technician presented an estimate $30 above what was quoted on the phone. I told him the STAR fee quoted on the phone was $10 less than his quote so he adjusted it; however, he refused to take off the "dyno" fees. While I waited (and waited and waited) for my car to get inspected ( I was told I'd be out in an hour but that didn't happen) the fee discrepancy really bugged me so I left. It's hard after waiting so long to decide to leave empty-handed, but it bugged me more that I was lied to when calling for pricing. They're all nice people i dealt with but just tell me the truth when I call for price comparison. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. You will sacrifice saving a few dollars for extremely rude management and a horrible experience. Read on... 1) Inaccurate posting of hours. They are open from 9am-6pm not 8am-5:30pm as posted online. 2) No AmEx accepted. 3) Closed for lunch hour 1-2pm and this is posted nowhere. 4) Located off extremely narrow claustrophobic alley that is one way (I found my way completely blocked trying to get there) 5) Was aggressively confronted by "manager" Lloyd when I moved an orange cone in order to do a nearly impossible 3 way turn in the alley. He said in an angry voice "I put that cone there for a reason!" and "move your car!" knowing full well I was a customer. 6) Had to ask "manager" Lloyd about 3 times if I was in fact at Smog and Go before he would bother to answer me. If this is the way management treats customers at Smog and Go I would be afraid of how a regular employee treats customers. I feel compelled to warn everybody away from this place. I'm working on restoring an older car right now, and needed to get the STAR smog check to get my registration sticker. Smog N Dash took the car late in the day, which I appreciated. Note that when you're quoted $25-35 for smog, it never works out that way. If DMV wants a STAR certified smog checker to check your car, that's an additional $20 or so. And the actual certification sent to DMV costs something like $30 or so. And on older cars there are additional checks the smog certification needs. The smog test even checks your gas cap, and if it doesn't make a good seal you'll need a new one or fail the test. Fortunately Smog N Dash had one for sale there, otherwise you could go elsewhere to buy one, then have to pay 1/2 the charge of the smog test to retake it. With all the little fees, I was up over $100. However, I did get the whole thing done the same day, and Smog N Dash's charge was less than another shop that wanted to schedule an appointment. This small shop can handle other car issues as well, like oil changes & standard maintenance, although I didn't use those services. When I went in, a few cars were in the shop, one up on a lift, and an engine on the ground. The technician who worked on my car explained that they are working towards their STAR Test & Repair status, so they will not only be able to smog test your car, but handle the repairs as well. Nice to have everything under one roof. Nice, small shop, friendly staff. A good experience. I'd go there again. read more

These guys are just the best! Never wasting my time with any other smog shop EVER. These guys are efficient, fast, and incredibly genuine. My car had been sitting for several week, so I asked them if they could keep the car on after the smog test. Little did I know, the car could potentially fail just because it had been sitting so long making the battery very weak. The owner Steve took the time to run my car through a separate machine that tested battery life and other things that would effect the smog test to make sure my car had a fair chance of passing. Turned out it would have surely failed had they have ran it for smog. After giving it a good drive to charge up the battery for 20 minutes the same day and taking it back to them they ran it through a separate machine again and it was good to go and past the smog test! I know a lot of smog places would have just taken your money just to move on to the next customer. I cannot thank Steve and his team enough for sharing this information with me and taking the time to run additional tests on the vehicle before the actual smog test. Thank you guys!!! read more

I always appreciate it when people show a little hustle. That was the case with James who came out to meet me when I visited the shop. I was a drop by and had no appointment. James took care of me, performed the smog check and certificate quickly and even informed me that i was a bit low on oil and took care of that free of charge. This shop does other work as well so I feel ill be treated the same way when I take my vehicle back there. The shop is small but they have a comfortable , clean waiting room. I was a little turned off by the fact that I called an hour beforehand to find out what time they take the last car; I was told 6, but when I showed up at 5:50 there was a question as to whether or not they'd be able to take me.
