Just as the name states Drop your car off for a Smog, and jam on out of there. A little difficult to find but was able to find with a little guidance of the friendly guy at shop. He was the only worker I saw but got me out within 40 mins. My car needed a Smog check for me to re register my car at DMV. I was quoted below $50 and for a 2000 something Toyota and he kept his word. Got out in a jiff and was able to get the paperwork finished so I can provide the DMV with the necessary paperwork. Good service and the smog technicians stay diligent. Make sure you call ahead to see how long the wait is. I would recommend leaving your vehicle while having lunch near by or go shopping at Target down the street. Each vehicle takes 10 to 15 minutes to smog. read more

A friend of mine recommended this place after listening to me complain about what an overpriced hassle smogging my truck was. In fact, I had been procrastinating for like 3 months. Seriously. Because I was so apprehensive about the whole thing, my friend offered to take me there herself. (What a good friend!) Admittedly, I would have had a bit of a hard time finding the place without her showing me.... But my negative outlook changed as soon as we pulled up. The technician came out to greet us before we even had a chance to park, and was very courteous and friendly. He took my keys and directed us to a comfortable, air-conditioned waiting area. As a drop-in with no appointment, I expected a long wait- you can imagine how surprised I was when the technician popped his head in the door and announced "ok, your all set" after about 25 minutes. pros: fast service, price was exactly as stated on the coupon on their site (larger cars and older cars have additional charges it seems. I have a compact 6 year old car so it was the lowest rate), Guy who helped me was nice. cons: reviews aren't kidding on hard to find location, It almost like an alley attached behind the vietnamese restaurant parking lot. The parking here is also a disaster, and the mechanics at the other businesses don't seem to follow the one way sign much. Waiting room is very small, only a couple chairs, so I waited outside. Overall, I got what I needed at a fair price and didn't wait more than 40 minutes despite a few people being ahead of me in line. read more

The cost was considerably more than was apparent, for my pre-year-2000 car. While it appeared that the cost would be $34.95 + $8.50 for a state certificate, in fact there were additional tests that are required for a pre-2000 car, that tacked on an additional $30. This was not made apparent on the website coupon. I ended up paying around $74. I don't know how competitive this is with other services. I advise that you call ahead if you have a pre-year-2000 car to get full cost estimates. The service itself was OK. read more

They posted a coupon for $26.95, large, bright letters. When I got there, they wanted $49. They justified it on all but illegible small type in the coupon that says additional charges would apply due to "star". When I said the type was illegible, even in the 4x magnified laminated printout he immediately pulled out which was obviously there for customers that dare to call them on their BS). I had a very bad experience when I took my car in to be smogged. I called ahead and had an appointment. When I presented my coupon for $24.75 plus certificate I was told "we are not accepting any coupons". There was no explanation given. I pointed out that I had made the appointment in advance and was not told this. I also showed the coupon which had no expiration. I was told I could pay the $49.99 or leave. read more

Had my son go get the car smog and they had a cheap "get you in the door price" but mandated an upcharge of $20 for "Star Station". What a crock when I called them to better understand their high up charge is that they said there were only one other Star certified station in Walnut Creek (wrong there are 12) and they had to upcharge due to CA making them spend more for equipment. Bunch of BS as all stations will have to upgrade in certain counties no matter what. They can easily add these garbage fees to their web site but said it wasn't necessary????? Just another dishonest business taking advantage when a customer walks in the door. Buyer beware. read more

I went to this place like many others because of the coupon. They told me it would take 10 minutes but it ended up taking 45 while I'm watching their mechanics horse around, cracking crude jokes with each other, and fixing some other persons car. Even though I had a coupon for $18.95, they still managed to add fees to make it a total of $35.95, which was about the same price as everybody else. On the good side, they did complete the smog in about 15 minutes. Overall was a fairly good experience but the change of price rubbed me the wrong way. read more

I called ahead for price comparison before going to Smog n Dash. The price sounded fair so I took my car in. When I arrived at the shop, the technician presented an estimate $30 above what was quoted on the phone. I told him the STAR fee quoted on the phone was $10 less than his quote so he adjusted it; however, he refused to take off the "dyno" fees. While I waited (and waited and waited) for my car to get inspected ( I was told I'd be out in an hour but that didn't happen) the fee discrepancy really bugged me so I left. It's hard after waiting so long to decide to leave empty-handed, but it bugged me more that I was lied to when calling for pricing. They're all nice people i dealt with but just tell me the truth when I call for price comparison. read more

Steve and his crew took VERY good care of me. I purchased a '97 Dodge camper van conversion a couple of weeks ago that is a bit complicated to smog because it was built to Canadian specs by the conversion company and is not really set up for CA smog regulations. I'm from out of town but I went to see Steve on a friend's recommendation. These guys found the CA inspector certification/bar code in the door frame, got me smogged properly, and made sure I was good to go and title my sweet van with no hassles and no extra cost. Very reasonable price and great service. AND... I needed a front-end alignment and they hooked me up with a great guy with good equipment (my van is HEAVY) less than100 yards from their shop. Absolutely terrible customer service. You will sacrifice saving a few dollars for extremely rude management and a horrible experience. Read on... 1) Inaccurate posting of hours. They are open from 9am-6pm not 8am-5:30pm as posted online. 2) No AmEx accepted. 3) Closed for lunch hour 1-2pm and this is posted nowhere. 4) Located off extremely narrow claustrophobic alley that is one way (I found my way completely blocked trying to get there) 5) Was aggressively confronted by "manager" Lloyd when I moved an orange cone in order to do a nearly impossible 3 way turn in the alley. He said in an angry voice "I put that cone there for a reason!" and "move your car!" knowing full well I was a customer. 6) Had to ask "manager" Lloyd about 3 times if I was in fact at Smog and Go before he would bother to answer me. If this is the way management treats customers at Smog and Go I would be afraid of how a regular employee treats customers. I feel compelled to warn everybody away from this place.
