Cheap price, but you get what you pay for. This was the first time to smog my 2007 Infiniti that has had all the recommended maintenance without issues. It should pass with flying colors. I figured save a few bucks and use their coupon on their website, but I was in for headaches. $19.99 Coupon with 8.25 certificate fee, but they charged me a couple dollars more at $30. I didn't want to argue. My car failed with hydrocarbons at 27 and 41! I went the next day to my independent mechanic, who also does smog. He gave me a deal at $30 plus the fee to recheck. I had NOT DONE ANYTHING to the car. Now it passed with 0 and 0 for hydrocarbons! My best guess is that Smog And Go do not keep their equipment calibrated properly or they might be trying something to us to go back for rechecks and spend more money there. I wouldn't go back there in the future no matter how cheap it is. i basically wasted $30 and my time there. read more

The people here were so rude! I called ahead of time to get the pricing and the person on the other line couldn't price me out. When I asked if it was $18.95, they just hung up on me. Despite the rudeness, I still went to check out the place.. That was a bad idea. There was one other car there and it still took them 15 minutes before acknowledging me. I asked them about the pricing again, and they said it was $18.95.. I ended up paying almost $40 when I left the place... Not to mention that it took 30 minutes to smog my car. Needless to say... In and out in less than 20 minutes at $35 cash price. He even sends the results electronically to the DMV. This may be standard practice at this point, but since this was the first time I've heard of it, I was impressed. I arrived around opening time on a Friday, and there was a line of 3 people waiting. It took the guy, whom I assume to be the owner, ~10 minutes to get set up. After that it was less than 20 minute wait for each person--he was like clockwork. The owner is friendly and competent. I'd come back next time I need a smog test! NOTE: it might be hard to find this place. Turn right if heading north on Main St, past Kevin's Noodle House, and drive up the hill. Coming back to review this place after 2 years since my last review of this place, and my last smog check. The first time that I was there couple years ago, my experience was nothing but super smooth. Not sure if the management changed since, but the service this time left for something to be desired. First, it is hard to get to this smog station - drive uphill and turn into a narrow alley only to find no parking in the limited spots across from this smog station. The few parking spots mostly belong to neighboring businesses, and they were nice enough to gently prod me to park elsewhere when I parked (for a few minutes to check with the office) in one of their spots. The rather annoying part is that there was no one at the front-desk in their office, even for a quick inquiry (even after waiting for 10 mins.). The person that seemed incessantly busy running smog checks (walking all over the place), did not care to stop and offer any quick help either. It felt very unfriendly, and uncomfortable hanging out there, while trying to just get any information. It seemed pointless to wait there after a while, and I left. The other place that I went to next was at-least courteous enough to let me know right away that they won't be taking any more cars for the day. I was driving to another smog place the next day but since this was en-route, I decided to stop by for what it is worth, and was able to squeeze my car in for a smog check (found parking! and after a 30 min. wait time). The pricing seemed fair (I needed to get a STAR certified smog check, which cost me $57), but service is clearly a hit or miss. The next time that I am due for a smog check, I think I'll just find myself another facility that has better parking, and someone at the front-desk to assist. read more

Love this place! Easy, fast and friendly. I came here because they will retest for free if your car doesn't pass, and they have a great online coupon so my total bill out the door was only $35. I had one car ahead of me when I arrived which took about 15 minutes, but then they got right on my car and it passed in 5 minutes! James was helpful and nice and even told me I can just pay my registration on line thru the DMV site since he'd already sent in my certificate electronically. Smog N Dash is terrific. I took my wife's Mercedes e350 in on 10/10/16, and was greeted by the nicest gentleman yet that has worked for them. I have several vehicles and bring at least one of them yearly, but this guy, I wish I caught his name, was great. He went out of his way not only for me but for other patrons that called in or ones that were waiting. I was in and out in 10 minutes or less. Great place !!! AND this is one of the least expensive places in the area. I really enjoy going into a business that advertises a price and honors that price. Smog places seem to be tricky in the Concord / Walnut Creek area. I have gone places in the past that have a coupon, and they will have you wait then tell you something other than what the coupon advertises as a price even though the coupon states the type of vehicle the coupon honors. You wait for 30-40 minutes and then you just have to get it done. read more

This place is very basic, it's a garage in a long commercial building with other car related business. Drive up behind Kevin's noodle house, go to the left and it's most of the way down. When they first handed me paperwork it was 12:25 pm. When they finished it was 12:53 pm, it took more than 15 min. However, there was only one guy at the desk plus running the tests. What can I say, it takes a long time to get your check done everywhere in my experience. With a coupon, after taxes it was ~$22. read more

I really like the friendliness and speed of this smog shop. I've been taking my Friends/Family OBDII Cars here for about 6 years now and always in and out very quickly without issue. Parking can sometimes be tight since they have to share limited parking spaces with all the other mechanic shops surrounding them. Great experience, though a little hard to find. Trust your phone, it'll get you there. I had been lied to by another shop because none of them want to do older cars anymore, because they have to do a real smog test and that is work! Luckily they referred me to James at Smog N Dash. James was great. First, he honestly let me know it would be about 15 minutes before my turn, and that the job would take about 45 minutes. Mine is a 1982 VW Vanagon Westfalia camper with a Subaru engine. Like every smog technician before him that tried to smog my van, James found the dyno speed maintenance a little tricky with my van, but he nailed it on the second try and I passed. I talked to the shop manager and he was extremely helpful and didn't make me feel like I was a stupid girl. He told me exactly what was happening with my car. This was an amazing experience, considering I know about cars. However, while waiting this guy I think was the owner walked into the shop. He was not very personable or friendly. I felt like he was sizing me up and who knows what else. I was very uncomfortable and just wanted to get out of there. This guy walked around like his shit don't stink but it does. James was unbelievably friendly and helpful. I was unable to smog my car due to failing the five OBD II tests which your car has to pass before the emissions test is done. He gave me ideas of the issues and how I could fix them... all without charging me. Over the next few months I brought my car by to test the OBD II about 4 times. Each time he quickly and happily tested my car and give me more advice. The advice he gave me was correct and I was able to fix the problem myself! Then I finally I passed my smog completely! The place is VERY hard to find. You'll need to get to them from Main St and then wind through some buildings. They could/should post better signs. Once I found them it was a pleasure. They will be charging about $35.20 total (which includes the filing fees). No haggling about price, and they didn't even ask if I knew about the discount coupon (it was just automatically applied). I didn't pass, however, and they charged $26.95 for the test itself offered that if I get it taken care of within 30 days I could retest with them for $18.25 including filing fees. Unfortunately I didn't go back for the retest as I found it more convenient to test somewhere else which had earlier hours (but it did cost me more). If it weren't for the fact this place doens't open til 9:30am I'd be a loyal customer. read more

Nice people, but a few problems. I have 95 year car, which requires special testing - which costs over $100. Their coupon does not admit this and the fine print is too fine to read anyway. Their re-test in the case of failure is $40 (also not on the coupon or website). Other places I've been do this for free. Worst part: my car failed the test - barely. One hydrocarbon reading was over the max. Took the car to my repair shop (Shell in Orinda - good place) and after scratching their heads because they could find nothing wrong to explain the failure, they took it to a different STAR station for a retest. It passed! Well within specs, running great. The only explanation is that the Smog N Dash tech did not properly warm up the car. So be careful with this place. Maybe they'll do a great job, but maybe they'll do an expensive bad job... read more
