So I've stopped into this place a few times at my moms encouragement. My mom is a complete loon so if he can manage her he must be good at his job. Every time I have come in I have dealt with Miguel and received great service even for minor quick services that were at the fault of me not knowing what the h*ll I was doing. Miguel is always fast, efficient and gives great customer service. I took my car in today for starting issues and Miguel took the time to explain exactly why my car was not starting. Miguel pulled out parts to explain what was happening under the hood. I appreciate Miguel taking the time to explain the details of what needed to be repaired. Typically I leave the shop feeling like I'm on the path to being swindled but Miguel made me feel confident about moving forward with the repairs. Will not return. I came here for a smog check, the guy at the "front desk" is on the phone the whole time, so I waited for him to acknowledge I was there to which he signals he'll be right with me. I take a seat along w the other 4 ppl there. The guy leaves, some lady comes... 20mins go by & approach the lady...she thought I was picking up a car -_- Doesn't even know I'm waiting to get helped. Failed the smog check, guy gives me the results & tells me he can't give me an estimate on the repair bc he would have to check it out further (of course not for free) .... & made it seem like it was going to be expensive. I said I'd take it back to my mechanic bc I believed I had already fixed that issue, he says if the part I had replaced was from the dealership bc it needed to be. I take it back to my mechanic who looks at the paper they gave me & says he needs no further checking. & that it's not true that I need dealership parts. He fixes the car with not dealership parts. I go back & if passes. Oh & when I went back that same guy (the boss) was making fun of his employees with a customer. He called them "dumb & dumber" bc they couldn't figure out which car they needed to read the miles on. Then he & the customer kept laughing at them & talking shit. I was greeted very quickly and I was immediately told how long the wait would be for my service (which was a smog and it was a 15 short wait) the staff was friendly and I even forgot my wallet and the manger kindly let me go home to pick it up with no fuss. I first came to Smogs Plus because I needed a smog check for my 2006 Ford Escape. I love my car and do my absolute best to take care of it as much I can. I read the reviews on this shop and was inspired to give them a try since I grew up a block away from the shop anyway. As I was waiting on my smog check to be completed I observed the movement in the shop. I was thoroughly impressed how professional and efficient Miguel moved behind the counter and all over the shop to be quite honest. He is the kind of person that acknowledges every person that steps in the lobby and greets people by first name. I noticed how he took his time to explain car issues to every customer he was engaged with. I appreciate the language and manner in which he speaks to his customers. His strength lies in conveying problems in a way which you can understand and really listens to your questions. He never brushes people off and gives you professional attention. Furthermore, I talked to a few customers waiting for their car and they told me they were residents of East LA that continually, and loyally drove to Lennox (40mins+ drive) to get serviced here. I mean this detail alone spoke very loudly to me as a first timer! WHAT I REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW IS THIS.... Since I was so happy with the initial smog check service, there was absolutely no question in my mind to bring my car in for other repairs, like my coolant reservoir cracking and then my dead alternator. When my old alternator was replaced with a new one, my car was now overcharging and displayed some questionable symptoms where I didn't feel comfortable driving my car in such condition. I called Miguel the next day and he asked me to bring it back in. He took my car in like it was his own, genuinely concerned about the alternator still giving me problems. He assessed (without cost to me) that unfortunately the part was faulty and had to be replaced one more time. He took all responsibility like an upright mechanic that he is and without a doubt replaced the alternator one more time. The parts have a warranty so I did not have to pay any extra money or any "hidden" fees of any sort. I feel extremely taken care of by Miguel and all the staff at Smogs Plus. Being a female, having a superb mechanic is SUPER important, especially since I truly want to maintain my car. I don't want to get caught up stranded after horrible car service because the mechanic is o.k. cutting corners to save time on their end; on top of having to deal with some of them being dishonest, condescending, and rude because of my gender. It's important to share this with anyone considering coming here alone for the first time. Also because of his care and attention, I've learned alot about my car through Miguel. Customer service here ROCKS, and all the staff are efficient. You can tell off the bat they are not there trying to cheat you, mistreat or mislead you as a consumer. The technicians are very good at their jobs and deserve a huge shout out for the efficiency in the service they provide. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 have been looking for a reputable, affordable shop to do my repairs. Called to ask how much they would charge to install brakes and do a fluid flush with pads and rotors I bought myself (I am very picky about my dodge and only use high-quality, OE parts). Horrible experience!! Had to return my vehicle back to them 3 times for the same repairs that they claimed to have fixed! How hard is it to replace a power steering pump?? All of the power steering fluid leak completely out. No power steering fluid means no power steering! This caused me to have to get towed to a totally different shop to have someone else fix my car. I was advised by the other shop that Smog's Plus placed the "O-Ring" on backwards which caused all of the power steering fluid to run out. Side Note: I witnessed other customers of Smog's Plus returning their cars with complaints about work not being done correctly. Super waste of time and money! DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR VEHICLE!!! read more

Hear me out, I came to Smog Plus Auto Repair to get a simple brake and lamp inspection. At first I come at 2PM get declined, came again the next day at 9AM to get the initial inspection. Got charged $25 for the labor of the initial brake inspection and for declining their expensive $230 brake service. Came back to finalize inspection get told to come at 11 unfortunately came at 11:30 got declined again and told to come back early in morning before they open. And what this signifies is that what they tell you is a bunch of run around that really is an excuse not to do the inspection. If it's not worth your time or money why are you offering this service? Simply tell me not to come if you don't want my business or time. read more

I've been coming here for the past 8 years. I usually only have time to come on the weekends- so if that the case for you, you should try coming 10-15 minutes before they open. They usually have regulars here a little early because they work based off of whomever gets here first. Miguel and my dad used to work together, so I know I could trust this guy and his workers. Highly recommend coming here for a smog check. I had gone to another location (by prairie & 99th: next to LAX tires) and they told me that I had an issue with my catalytic converter and he send me to Rubio's restoration body shop. Before going there I was under the impression that it would be a star certified smog check location because the other one (prairie & 99th) wasn't. Upon arrival the guy tells me it would cost me $250 to pass my car's smog check, illegally, because he could tell right away (just by looking at it) that it wasn't going to pass... Long story short, came to this location and Miguel and the guys adviced me to drive my car for X amount of miles because one of the sensors wasn't reading. I had previously taken my car in for some work at the Honda dealership and they failed to advice me to drive my car a while to reset the sensor in my car. I went a couple of times to recheck with the guys to make sure that the sensor had reset until it was good to go. My car passed the test with flying colors. Thank you guys. Go here! read more
