OMG!!!! Where do I begin???? I secured a table for ten although they do not do reservations. Michael assured me that our table would be ready for 4PM, and it was!!!!!! The staff was impeccable!!!!! The orders were placed perfectly so that we continually had our food without being rushed!!! The food was superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The food was absolutely delicious! No complaints there! Our group of 4 arrived around 7:10pm and were promptly seated by a very kind host. The server (I don't remember her name, but she was wearing neon pink shorts) came over and got our drink order, came back to deliver our drinks, and maybe 20 minutes later, came to get our order. A few of us ordered appetizers, and one ordered a salad. We waited approximately 45 minutes after arrival to get our apps. They were tasty. The one that ordered the salad did not receive it. When I asked the waitress if the salad was on the way, she condescendingly explained to me how coursed meals work. "Well, this is the appetizer course. When you're done with this, I'll bring salads, after that is when you'll get your main course." Ok then, got it. My mistake for thinking we would have some food on the table earlier than 1hr after being seated. She cleared the appetizer plates, and this is not an exaggeration-- 1hr and 30 minutes after being seated, our salads came out. When she dropped our salads, I asked her to bring out the entrees immediately because we were hungry and had been waiting a while. She AGAIN explained how coursed meals work ... "well ma'am your food will come out when you're done with salads", yeah I'm not an idiot, I get it, but at this point we were starving and it was almost 9pm. She also proceeded to tell me "we have a really small kitchen so things take longer". Meanwhile, half of the restaurant had chairs already up on tables because they were starting to close! Again, after salads came, we waited another 15 minutes or so for entrees. The service was terrible. Our drinks were empty. She spoke very condescendingly, and we were there for OVER 3 hours. She checked on us 1 time during entree to ask how everything was tasting. I have worked in the food industry my whole life, and currently run a coursed restaurant. I love the concept, this really just missed the mark. But as mentioned before, the food was absolutely delicious, which is why I'm giving 3 stars. read more

What a fun evening with my friends. We were in the area and one of my friends made the suggestion and reservations. Great space with lots of room for groups but the ability for a nice intimate table for two. The staff was very accommodating and professional. Made our evening special. If I could give a negative review I would. I waitressed for 20 years and would not give a negative review except in this case. Took over 3 hours to get our food and 1 person in our party never got served! Avoid this place!!! Owner came over and blamed us that it took so long because we ordered 2 bowls of soup. He was aggressive and rude and wouldn't even listen to us! Bartender kept ignoring us and in 3 hours we only were served 1 drink. Please AVOID the hassle of going here! read all the reviews .... My wife and I tried this restaurant on a whim....we live locally. Everything was wonderful, except for one thing which I will mention at the end. We had the Bruschetta as an appetizer. It was good...the toast was done perfectly. I had the duck Alfredo, which was superb. VERY generous portions...I was able to eat 66% of the meal and take home the rest. My wife was only able to eat 50% of her meal brought home the rest. My wife had the Chicken Cabrisi linguini....this was the star of the show. My duck was great....but this was beyond good. The spices were perfectly done....the chicken breast came off some kind of mega chicken...it was huge. The taste was out of this world. If we go back I'm getting this and having two meals out of it. Both entrees came with Caesar salad, which was great...the croutons were exceptionally tasty. I had a glass of the Italian red house wine as well. The total bill came to $83 and the service was good so...all in all it was a $100 date with my wife. The place was completely full on a Saturday night at 7pm. I would recommend reservations. My only complaint is that I had to circle the block twice, and then a third time to park, once I found it. There is NO sign. There is a blue awning that has no letters or even the number 11 on it. There is no "11" over the door. There is NOTHING....except a sandwich board at street level which is NOT easy to see, and can be covered up with a car. You just don't expect to not see anything up above...and only something at the curb and not that stark of a sandwich board at that. It's like the place is so popular, they don't want to be found. I would at least suggest that they put an "11" on the awning. I almost gave up. I knew it was close...but had already struck out on Yelp with a restaurant that is advertised but is no longer there....so I thought..."well this one is gone too". The only reason I found it was by stopping the car and looking in the window to see tables and people eating. When I got inside, I asked the person "is this "11 Central"? And only then knew I was in the right place. Spend the money....buy two numbers and put them on the awning....even if they are just stick ons. Central is a very good dining option if you are in Bangor. The restaurant has a very welcoming and warm feeling with its exposed brick walls and lighting. The whisky sour with mint was fairly adventurous tasting like a mojito with whisky. I tried the elk corn soup which was more like a heart chili. The flavor came together well. It was so hearty it could be a meal in itself. My scallops as main course were good but the scallops were not in abundance and the dish was more pasta based than I would have expected. The menu is expansive ranging from the seafood to pizza. More menu focus may be better. Server staff were pleasant and accommodating. Overall, I would return and like to try some of the other dishes. read more

11 Central is about heading to Downtown Bangor for an evening out, sitting at the bar or grabbing a table, enjoying a tasty beverage or eating a meal. We usually have to wait for a table, which isn't a problem, it's expected for most of the places we enjoy! The best part of 11 Central is the atmosphere, the art work (which is for sale!), and the friendly, outgoing staff. We originally sat at the bar while waiting for our table. In hindsight, we should have just stayed at the bar! We waiting so long for our food. I imagine it's challenging to time it correctly, especially when you do not order an appetizer. We weren't in a rush, so it was fine. I ordered the salmon and Dan ordered the pasta. His was delicious! My salmon was ok. A little on the fishy side. The squash was the bomb!!! I could have eaten a whole tub of that! She sold a painting while we were there, that was cool! The artist lives in Portland (area). There are one or two I have my eye on. This restraunt is wonderful. Upper scale restraunt and it's very relaxing. We sat at the bar to eat and was plenty of room to eat. Everyone was very nice and attentively served our every needs. I got the smoked salmon plate appetizer and my man got the nachos. Both were delicious. He got a pizza and I got the salmon plate. Both were very tasty and delicious. Best meal we have had in a long time. Decor is casual with exposed brick and black tablecloths. Well select new music was never intrusive. They have a pizza menu we ignored. We shared a quality smoked salmon appetizer plate with a whole roasted head of garlic, herbed cream cheese, capers, red onions and tomatoes. Then seafood fettuccine for me and scallop pasta for my wife. All the shellfish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Portions were large. Great cocktail program. And nice wine and beer list. Wow, the food was great, popular location downtown. I showed up, the bar was packed, but Maddy (sp) really pretty hostess, insisted I stay and even found me an extra chair. She saved the day. My food was overcooked (seafood fettuccine - both the seafood and the pasta were overdone, but I believe it was likely sitting under the line heat lamp for quite some time.) What a FIVE STAR experience!!! Upon entry to the restaurant, my wife and I were warmly greeted by the hostess. We did not have a reservation, yet were immediately escorted to a choice table by the window. The restaurant had a good vibe to it, with a slight buzz throughout. The diners (and staff) all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our waiter, Kelly, promptly appeared to welcome us, and inquire about drinks or cocktails. We ordered two different wines by the glass (a Gruner Veltliner from Austria and a Syrah/Grenache blend from Australia) for which she very knowledgably shared the tasting notes of each. Upon delivering our wines, our waiter asked if we were ready to order our dinner, and we proceeded to discuss the extensive offerings of both the regular menu and the various daily specials. There was an abundance of wonderfully described dishes. Hot bread was served with our salads, and delivered throughout the meal. My wife ordered the fresh swordfish, and the chef was very accommodating to prepare the dish without the herbed butter, as is their norm. My scallops fra diavolo was exquisite, with large grilled scallops and just the right amount of heat. My request to substitute the vegetable instead of pasta was graciously provided. Dinner was completed with one order of one of the house specialties: a flourless chocolate torte, which was simply divine. Our server was attentive, unobtrusive, and thoroughly professional. Was so surprised to find this gem in downtown Bangor. I'd heard of it for years but had never been there before this past week. I had been reluctant to bring a whole group because of the limited seating, so I went with my mother, and we had a wonderful time from the moment we stepped in. The attention to detail in the little things and ambiance set the mood right away: the real candles, the cloth tablecloths, the small bowls of freshly ground pepper and pink salt. The staff were all dressed nicely and were very helpful and observant. The cocktails won even more of my praise with a wide selection, unique flavors and reasonable amounts for the price. I would have given this place a full five stars for these things alone, even apart from the food. But the food turned out to be as good as the atmosphere. Everything was fresh, flavorful and excellent. I had chicken cordon-bleu, and my mother had mussels with pesto cream sauce. We were both in heaven enjoying every last fork full. This is definitely a place I'd recommend to bring guests, a dinner date, or for a night out that doesn't feel like you're just in Bangor anymore. This is one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Bangor. The service is top notch and the quality of the food can't be beat. Their craft cocktails are fantastic, if you're unsure what to order, your waiter will have wonderful suggestions. There isn't a bad item on the menu, whatever you order, you will love. That being said, these are the items that keep me coming back: -Lobster in a Puff Pastry: do you like lobster? do you like puff pastry? Well, then you'll love this. It's a very basic dish, but satisfies the lobster craving with its large chunks of lobster if you're wanting to branch out for dinner. -Bruschetta: possibly my favorite bruschetta ever as it is served almost as a platter of bruschetta!! The flavor is always perfect, as must order. -Dirty Hippie Pizza: pesto with tomato, avocado, spinach, artichoke hearts, roasted red pepper and portobello sprinkled with goat cheese. If you're mouth isn't watering, you're not human. This is by far and away their best pizza with the most bold and interesting flavors. I hate vegetables and I LOVE this. -Lobster Artichoke Pizza: Maine lobster claw meat and artichoke hearts with alfredo sauce. Delicious!! The pizzas are made with local sauces and homemade dough and the love that goes into crafting these shines through in their taste. The ambience is trendy with exposed brick walls, black curtains as you enter and a lavender accent wall. The walls often showcase local artist's work, as well. This was purely a Yelp find as I was just traveling through the Bangor area, and what a great experience! This place is the real deal and I couldn't believe I found it in Bangor. We began by having the crab cake appetizer which was very tasty and had a kick built into the breading I believe. There were two delicious sauces; a sweet red sauce and a white horseradish sauce. Both were great! The lobster stew came next. 3 large lobster claws with plenty of broth. It was a sherry and cream mix. The lobster was good but the broth was excessive. They brought us some bread (only on request) that was a toasted Italian bread. Delicious! It should have automatically brought it with each course. Our Caesar salads were the following course. These were not your traditional Caesar salads. They were romaine hearts with mainly oil and Parmesan reggiano cheese. It was very very good. For our entrees my aunt ordered the sea scallops with fettuccine and bacon. These scallops were amazing! I ordered the seafood pasta which was FILLED with seafood and worth the $30. I had massive sea scallops, shrimp, lobster claws and smoked salmon in one dish! My only qualm was that they WAY overcooked the pasta. If you're going to a high end restaurant I feel like cooking pasta should be a given. It may have been a simple mistake as my aunts fettuccine was cooked fine. Our service was absolutely great! Very attentive and knowledgable server. I only wish the dessert menu was printed instead of quoted to you as the desserts are very involved and sound delicious! Our friends, whom we were visiting in Maine, took us out to 11 Central for our pre-Anniversary dinner. And what a delicious delight it turned out to be. We arrived around 7:30pm and was told there would be a wait, so we decided to wait it out at the bar area. The four of us ordered a cocktail each, and they came out in a timely manner. My wife ordered the Maine Fizz so we could try something a bit more local, and I ordered the Island Pain Killer as an ode to our wedding. Our friends ordered the White Pear Cosmo and New York, New York. Both of which were just as wonderful. The wait ended up being a reasonable 20 minutes or so, but we had an awkward server mixup at the very beginning. It was quickly resolved and didn't affect our experience, but it was rather curious. I went with the Sea Bass per the recommendation of our first server, and ordered it with a side of rice and peppers. The Sea Bass was perfect. The side of rice and peppers was just OK - it could've used more seasoning. Thankfully, the Sea Bass and the vegetables underneath it saved the dish, and I didn't really need the side. The other meals ordered looked good as well, and everyone was pleased with their selection. The Scallops with Pasta was probably the second favorite, and the portion was quite sizable. Based on the cocktails, main course, and ambience, 11 Central looks to be one of the best places for a meal in Bangor. Very, very thankful to our friends for taking us here. read more

We were unable to eat here. We had called to see if there was a wait and if they took reservations. The guy that answered the phone informed us that they did not take reservations. We were also told that there was not a wait. When we arrived to the restaurant we were told that that only applied to parties of 2-4. The lady that greeted us which I assume was the owner said it was a 45 minute wait. She was unwilling to move two empty tables to accommodate a party of 5. I did notice that she was more than willing to accommodate a child sitting directly at the bar. Very disappointed in professionalism and will not return. The decor of the place is so nice and classy - exposed brick, Art Deco ceiling etc. our server was Maggie who was so nice and helpful. Her and the girls kept our water glasses full and were very knowledgeable on the menu. We got the bruschetta appetizer which was delicious and served on pita which I really enjoyed. I got the gnocchi and chorizo dish which was fenomenal and my colleagues got the chicken curry and New York strip which were both fantastic. I genuinely loved this restaurant and the food.
