I asked for recommendations and showed him a cigar band of something I smoked hoping he might know a thing or two about it. He curtly said "Never heard of it. Must be a private label". That's fine. I don't expect everyone to know every label on earth, but he didn't bother to ask why I liked it. Instead he walked to the humidor and asked how much I wanted to spend. I told him my budget. He assumed I preferred something lighter (I learned pretty early on into cigars that I prefer medium to plus). However, he decided for me without asking my preferences and said "You'll want a lighter smoke" then pulled out two cigars. I felt too uncomfortable to ask questions and learn more about cigars. It was like he was telling me what is best for me without my opinion and that was that. He was a polite guy, but I could feel that my purchase was more of a nuisance to him than anything.
