When you walk into this place, it has that whole "nostalgic, old school, never changed" kind of vibe. There is memorabilia placed everywhere on the walls, along with some old sports trophies. There is an open kitchen where you can see the chefs cooking up every meal for every table, which is really nice. The floors were old and the whole interior looked like it was all still original to the day it opened several years ago. It has a very big dining room split into 3 different areas, so it was very accommodating for all of our kids to play around while we waited for our food to be delivered without disturbing other customers. My son got the kids cheese burger and fries. My husband ordered their philly cheesesteak and I decided to order their signature sub sandwich. Both of us got raw fries, as well. All of us were satisfied with our meals. My signature sub was filled with delicious flavor and my husband said he liked his Philly cheesesteak just fine. We came here with our baseball team parents, coaches and players after a tournament game and although we waited about 30 minutes to be greeted by a server after we arrived, everything was else went well. The woman who took care of us appeared to be someone who had been employed there for many years and she was very nice and patient with our very large party that took up half of the dining room area we were sitting in. My only critique was how she put a tablecloth on one of our tables before bringing us all menus and taking our drink orders. Granted, many of the adults who were familiar with this restaurant had already ordered buckets of miller light bottles from her at the bar before she came over to take care of us 30 minutes later, but many of us were still expecting prompt service. read more

Although the restaurant was recently "updated", the ambiance is still that of a local neighborhood restaurant, pub and bar. A friend of ours suggested that we try this place, and I'm glad we did. When we first got there, we were seated right away in a booth up front. This wasn't the vibe I was looking for. Then I discovered the area with the pool table and bar, so we moved. Now I'm in the right vibe. We ordered the tomato pie which was amazing. It has a nice sweet taste to it. We have been to Murray's before and ordered several things including wings. Recently we ordered takeout from the Chinese food place next door and they gave us a box to hold the food. The box was obviously a chicken wing box that was ordered by Murray's. It has Murray's name on it, says fully cooked chicken wing sections, and keep frozen. See pics. Giving it 3.5 stars because of our server Gabbi. She was a 10 from the start! Gabbi (sp), greeted a with a smile and was super knowledgeable and efficient. This is a pepsi not coke house as an FYI. Murray's menu has lots of variety. Gabbi made suggestions that we appreciated...The appetizers were excellent. (cheese curd), I had the half rack, it was tender and delicious. We did have an issue with an "undercooked" burger entree that Gabbi addressed and made right for us. All in all a good overall experience. There is plenty of parking and, there are pool tables off the dining floor if you choose to linger for awhile. read more

Our ROMEO group of 8 were here yesterday for our second visit in the past couple of years. The expansive menu made it hard to choose something as they had a lot of good looking items! They had jumbalaya as a special for $6.99/bowl and I really wanted to try it. It wasn't on the menu but one of our guys ordered it and said it was really good. Gave it a 5 rating! He said it had a good spice but not too much...just right. Three of. us ordered the fried cat fish. I opted for the Rosemary fries as a side and it came with a small container of plum juice to dip the fries in. I've never seen that before but tried it with a couple of fries. The sauce was very good (as I like Plum sauces at Chinese restaurants) but I'm more of a ketchup or tartar sauce with my fries type. The Cole slaw was some of the best I've ever had and the two other guys said the same thing. The catfish was some of the the best I've had. Nice and crisp bread coating and had about 6 or so small filets of catfish. One person ordered a chicken sandwich on a dark wheat bread roll...He said it was good. We had another order for the Chicken wings and he said they were good. All in all, the food was rated very highly. Our waitress was very good and checked on us throughout lunch. This is a great place and they have a ton of room...actually several rooms so you can even have a private party. We will return. The only thing I notice (and this is from our first visit) is that they have a Philly Steak sandwich (which we all like) but they servie it on a honey wheat hoagie roll. I've never seen a Philly Steak on a sweet honey wheat roll. I'd rather have a typical white Italian or baguette bread rather than the sweet honey wheat. read more

So disappointed. French Dip arrived 40 minutes after ordered and was cold with wrong bread. I had to go to front to ask why the order had not come. Their special hamburger which was ordered as medium rare arrived very overdone with a sliver of tomato and a wimpy piece of lettuce on a much larger roll than the small hamburger patty. $14! Another person in our party asked for his similar hamburger to be replaced for similar reason. I just wanted to leave as it had been 1 1/2 hours since arrival. Server apologized and said she would report to chef. I felt bad for her as she was trying her best. I left her a generous tip but will not take my business and family there again. Murray's is a great place. We went yesterday with a group of 12. We didn't call ahead but they still were able to seat us within 3-5 mins of arriving. They had 3 other larger groups schedule to arrive that evening as well so they were set up for those groups as well. I ordered wings and they were really good. I was a little concerned that the options for hot wings was either mild or blazing hot suicide (nothing between). The waitress assured me that the blazing hot suicide wasn't very hot, so i order them and they weren't very hot. I'd compare them to the spicy-ness medium at any other wing restaurant. Our waitress handled our group well and kept up with our needs with ease. Our food didn't take very long to arrive, which was nice because we were all really hungry. Ok, so y'all know I love this place! In my opinion Murray's serves the BEST hand cut Ribeye in Columbia. BUT... tonight I decided to try their Prime Rib. O.M.G.!!! I got it medium and it was the perfect color of pink! And oh my! I think this steak is even more tender than any filet mignon I've ever had! The au jus is wonderful, though I would like the horseradish sauce to have more of a horseradish kick. Still... an absolutely amazing meal that I highly recommend! read more

Walked in around 9:30 after a late flight, and just wanted to grab quick food. Everyone in the bar and kitchen kept making comments of how they were closed. The staff was unwelcoming. This place was selected by a coworker during a visit to a client in the area. From the time I walked in, I was apprehensive. The floor was covered in this dirty, dark colored carpet - yikes. They insisted it was a good place, so I followed along. I ordered the french dip sandwich - the meet was so dry that I had to order additional broth to dip. The broth was onion soup extremely salty. Extremely pissed off customer. Ordered to go and my pickles are ice cold. The burger had no cheese but had the onion and tomato that was suppose to be left off. The amount of shrimp that came with the "1/2 pound shrimp" is not nearly the amount that usually comes with it. The sweet potato fries are cold and soggy. I called and spoke to the manager robin and she was not helpful at all when half the order was missing to begin with. I tried to reach out again to the manager through fb to try and get a credited order because 75% of the order went to waste, still no response. Very unprofessional and I'm upset due to how much I love and come to this place. Will not be back for a while unless my order gets replaced. read more

I found this place by accident, actually. I travelled too far out Charleston Highway and was looking for a place to turn around, when I pulled into a shopping center and spotted Murray's. I decided to go ahead and eat, even though the place looked like a potential dive from the outside. When I walked in, though, it looked like a neat old pub-type diner. I started to wonder if it was a franchise when I saw the menu and how fancy the pictures and scripting was, but the waitress assured me it was a local (and all the waitresses were wearing t-shirts that boasted business since 1992; probably not something a franchise would be concerned about publicising). I got a burger basket with fries and upgraded my slaw to a side salad. My cooking preference was asked, though it was a little overdone. The patty was a little small, too, and had a lot of bun overlap. The fries were decent, like Rush's. If I were in the mood for a burger basket, though, I'd probably go there instead. The rest of the food might be really great, though. When I arrived there was only 1 other table with 3 ladies sitting at it, but when I was finishing up around noon and heading out they were getting swamped. The parking lot had filled up. They had a menu for daily specials and I kind of wish I had tried their 'famous' all-white fried chicken platter that is listed for M-F (there were additional daily specials for M-Thu). I asked the waitress her preference between it and the burger basket and she said the burger (because she doesn't like fried chicken), so that's what I went with. Murray's in Cayce is a definite hole-in-the-wall type of establishment, hiding in a strip mall in Cayce. Stepping in almost feels like taking a step-back to yesteryear, as the decor is very much a blast from the past (this is not a dig...it adds to the charm). This was my first meal at Murray's (meeting a friend for lunch), and all-in-all, I'd have to say that it wasn't bad. I got the burger basket, and the burger was fairly large and tasted good. The highlight of the meal had to be the raw fries (wing chips to others), which I ordered "in the middle" (not floppy or crunchy). They were cooked just as I asked and were great with the provided malt vinegar. Service was fast and friendly. The only real downside I could find was that there's no draft beer, which I find peculiar for any establishment that calls itself a bar, but with bottled beer and liquor available, that's hardly a deal-breaker. I enjoyed it. I probably wouldn't make the trek to Cayce just to eat there, but if I were meeting a friend or passing through, I'd go again. read more

I emailed the restaurant but have yet to hear from them. This is unacceptable as undercooked poultry will make you sick. They need to make sure their cook knows what they are doing.
