We recently stopped at Smokehaus in Amherst, NH, and had an amazing experience. The restaurant is less than a year old, and is clean and comfortable. The service was fantastic, and felt like we were in someone's home. The food was great! The pork was very moist and flavorful, as well as the brisket. Fatty and lean brisket are offered- a sign of a serious barbecue joint. The sides were just as good. We tried the hush puppies and the mac 'n cheese- both cooked perfectly, and both very flavorful. All in all a great meal with fantastic service. We'll definitely be back! read more

First, brisket plate was $4.00 more than one line menu price. Pulled pork plate was $2.00 more than on line menu. Yes, menu states in fine print that prices subject to change, but simple change your menu for ease and accuracy. When asked choice of bread was not told cornbread was an upcharge. Who upcharges on cornbread at a BBQ place?? Woman who took order was rude at best. Surprised at all the positive comments - brisket was okay, and the pulled pork was so fatty is was uneatable and disgusting to look at. I drive by this place a lot. It used to be a burger joint that I stopped in to once, had a great burger, and soon after they closed. When I saw that it was going to be a BBQ place, I was eager to give it a try. The place isn't very big, maybe a half a dozen tables with a small bar area, but the space works and it is decorated as you would expect a BBQ place to decorated. I ordered take out, deciding on a half rack of ribs and a side of collard greens. When the young girl explained that I get two sides, I asked for two collard greens (What can I say, I like my greens). I went with a spicy BBQ dipping sauce. The ribs were nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly, the sauce worked great for dipping, making me wish that I had asked for two. The greens were great as well, very tangy, and delicious. The entire meal was fantastic and I am looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu very soon. read more

Only issue was the CC reader was down so cash only. I just happen to have extra $20 otherwise it would not have happened. They have only been open for a minute or two but it was excellent. Watched the construction for months and hoped the place would turn out ok. It didnt. It was so much better than OK - the food is fantastic! As others have said the food runs out early so get there quick, and be hungry. The hushpuppies are like nothing I have ever had before. My only complaint is the noise level when inside. Had driven by this place a few times, and always wanted to stop in. Finally, I had the chance today. Drove 35 minutes, to arrive and be disappointed. Walked in, and heard a muttering of some things being sold out, which I thought wow this place must be good to be sold out two hours before closing. I got the pulled chicken with a side of Mac and cheese and hush puppies. It also came with corn bread. To my surprise the chicken was more like chunks not really what you expect with a traditional pulled meat. Mac and cheese was run of the mill, corn bread and hush puppies seemed stale and tasted several days old. Apparently when things sell out, it's just time to close up shop. They started flipping chairs onto tables, a guy started moping the floors in the kitchen right in front of the bar, where I sat, and another girl mopped the floor literally all around me. Mop bucket was two feet from my seat! The scent of chemicals was so strong, it literally made me sick, thanks for the migraine! Having worked in the food industry and family owning establishments of our own, this is just poor service. First impressions are everything, and it was clear we were being rushed and the staff wanted to leave. It's a shame, the place was cute inside, and had some good beers on tap. I was hoping to get a bread pudding to go, but they closed the registers without bothering to ask if anyone needed anything else. The sign, and website, both said open until 6. For authentic southern barbecue that is smoked on the premise you've got to try the Smokehaus! Like many true barbecue places they only smoke a certain amount of meat each day and when they run out, they are out for the rest of the day. So you want to get great smoked meats you better get there early before they run out. There is a choice of a few different barbecue sauces and they are always served on the side. Honestly, the meat is so tasty you really don't even need the barbecue sauce. They have some indoor seating and some outdoor seating. Both the main courses and the appetizers are excellent. Having explored a plethora of amazing BBQ pits throughout the Southern and Mid-Atlantic States over the years, I've seldom been very impressed by BBQ joints back here in the Northeast. Until now. At the recommendation of a colleague, my wife and I stopped by for lunch. We shared a full slab of baby back ribs and 1/2 lb of the brisket (yes, we took some home for dinner). It was great that they offered a choice of lean or fatty when we ordered the brisket. The ribs were very tasty, smoked well throughout and just the right amount of sauce. The brisket was tender and flavorful with a wonderful bark. Table-side BBQ sauces were varied, each with a well-thought-out blend of flavors. The Smokehaus menu offers a perfect variety of options without being over-whelming. I'm hoping to see fried okra and corn-bread make it onto the menu in the future, along with a fiery table-side BBQ sauce that is just spicy enough to make you question whether you should've gone with a milder sauce. The staff were friendly, informative and actually seemed happy to be there. We'll be heading back again soon. read more

Smokehous 10/10 Dino Bone- 10/10 ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE! This probably weighs a pound and a half and is about 2.5" wide by 1.5" thick by 8" long. Great Smokey flavor with a slight salty flavor. A good amount of fat but it melts in your mouth and is delicious. Once you carve enough meat off of this bone to pick it up, gnawing the rest off the bone is one of the best pleasures in life. Cole slaw- 8/10 a super sweet and soupy cole slaw. It has great flavor and is extremely fresh. Chopped pickles mixed in give this cole slaw a special taste that's almost indistinguishable until you see them. Mac and Cheese- 7/10 spiral noodles with a cheese sauce poured on top. Good flavor and the sauce coats the inside of your mouth They have 8 beer taps and a cider on tap including some high quality craft beers. The wooden tables and metal chairs give you the classic BBQ joint fee that you are looking for. They also have six very original sauces that I was looking forward to trying but the dino bone was so good it would have been criminal to add them to it. Stopped on my way home to pick up a few meals for dinner. They were sold out of almost everything when we stopped last week so get there early. Meat was tasty and the sides were good. The beef brisket and pulled pork were moist and flavorful. The sauces were also a nice compliment to the meat. Sat at the bar while I waited for my order to be processed (~15 minutes). Although the line begins to grow promptly at 11am, these guys have a great system in place, so the wait isn't all that bad and worth every minute! This place is a joke. They are always out of everything!! ALWAYS!! They suggest calling in your order which they allow on Tuesday -Thursday, but the few times I have done that they treated me like it was a hassle and then gave me a hard time because I said I wanted to pick it up at 5:45 which "they said was too late!" It's really not too late if you don't leave work until 5:30!! Then I suggested they take orders the day before so you could get what you want and they cook enough! Nope, that doesn't work for them either. So what does that leave??? I suggested online ordering...that got me an eye roll from the staff. Going out of your way to stand in line to hear they are out of 4-5 core meats?? It doesn't even matter anymore if the food is good or not! You can't plan on it! I don't see what all of the fuss is about. The food here was decent, but nothing special- I haven't returned. The sides were not very good in my opinion. The macaroni and cheese is just macaroni with a cheese sauce dumped on- and it was pretty bland. The pulled pork was okay, but kind of fatty. Our experience at Smokehaus was on 8/19/2022. I have driven by here multiple times and never had the chance to stop and try it out. Well, this past Friday evening we took the nice drive from Manchester to give it a try. We arrived at 6p for dinner and were immediately told they were were out of pulled chicken, pulled pork, and only had maybe a half rack of ribs. We were excited to try a variety of different meats but our options were limited at this point. We decided to find an alternative place to eat. Would love to return in the future, but not sure it's worth the drive to potentially just have to turn around and head back to Manchester hungry, again. read more

We've only been to Smokehaus once, even though they are 2 minutes from our house. The reason is...they keep running out of MEAT!! What a great problem to have!! I'm so happy for this local business and family. Our one experience there was very good and we will be back...but earlier in the day because we can't wait to try the ribs and hog wings!! The pulled pork was delicious. The Mac & Cheese was seriously delicious! I was a little less impressed with the dry hush puppies, but that may have been part of their newness/working out the kinks. My husband ordered the brisket "fatty". It tasted good but we might not order that again, it was just a bit too rich for us. The beans were delicious, the fries were perfectly fine, and my husband enjoyed some local beers. We also loved the homemade sauces! Because we live so close we are able to see the restaurant daily and the infatuation with them hasn't deteriorated. I love that and good for them!! IMO truly good food can only be made if ownership loves what they do and has that unique ability to trickle down that goodness and warmth from vision to plate. Equally important and evident here at Smokehaus is their ability to pass that passion and vision on through their hired staff. I give them huge props for this as being able to hire and put together a quality team, in the middle of quasi rural New Hampshire, is no easy task. My only wish is that they offered their wings a bjt crispier and with an option to really spice 'em up as their Buffalo-Q was too mild for us fire eaters. read more

As a southerner trying to find decent barbecue in New England, it took a couple of years to find this place. I Came Upon it even though it certainly isn't boiling over with Southern Hospitality. The barbecue pork is great. I told the owner, or as he refers to himself, the owner's father, that if new englanders new how great a CHOPPED pork barbecue sandwich was in North Carolina they would never want to come back home. And they do a good job with the smoking of the pork and even with the typical North Carolina apple cider vinegar hot pepper sauce. But they hide the North Carolina apple cider vinegar hot pepper sauce behind the bar and you have to ask for it especially. It only comes on the CHOPPED PORK BBQ sandwich. It is not on the sauce menu which they proudly display at the counter . This is quite frustrating and confusing, because I knew what I was tasting here the first time I had the chopped BBQ North Carolina style sandwich, for God's sake . But most locals here will never taste it because all they know how to say is, I'd like a pulled pork sandwich." It's called a barbecue in North Carolina and Virginia. It's just called a barbecue. It's always chopped or minced pork and it's always smoked and it's always got the cider vinegar sugar and hotpepper sauce as its only ingredients. Feels a bit Trumpy in here, so I may not last. If you're not gonna be open for dinner they close at 3:00 When the family decides they wanna eat there it has become so unreliable I broke out my smoker and started making stuff myself. It's a lunch place at best. It's a shame could me a multiple location business. If you consistently run out of something 2 hours before close track that and increase par. There is a business for the day old meat. Package up anything that's left over people come in and buy it out of the refrigerator at a discounted rate. Our friends had come to visit us, and we decided to go for a ride, and have lunch. My wife is gluten-free (not by choice). We thought we'd try to find some barbecue to take a ride to. My wife found the Smoke Haus online, called them, and they verified they could serve her a gluten-free meal. As we pull into the parking lot, it is raining, and still there are about 25 people on the deck/porch eating with only moderate shelter from the wind and rain. My meal was a 2 meat plate, sides of cole slaw and fries. Had chopped pork, and brisket. Meats were fantastic, and the fries were maybe the best I've ever had . Between the 4 of us, Cole slaw, baked beans, collard greens (ick, not for me LOL) Chopped pork, pulled pork, and brisket. Corn bread for the 3 of us, not my wife. Everything was awesome, all of us want to get together very soon for another visit. As far as how much food, and how filling was it, well this ride was one of the very few where we did not make a dessert stop on the ride! We were stuffed. Heartily recommend this place! read more
