Well, my 15 yr old and husband liked it. I'm not quite sure how to explain this meal - it confused me. Ok - I tried it. Will probably not have it again. Place was clean. Hard to get street parking.

Regular poutine - meal size $8

I haven't tried Smoke's poutinerie apart from a food truck in downtown Toronto but can only assume their quality assurance is the same across all their locations. These were disappointing. I ended up getting the regular/traditional meal size poutine because I felt you have to get the regular poutine right. Consider me a purist/traditionalist? Breakdown: Fries weren't that crisp and the entire dish (each component) wasn't warm, it was more lukewarm. Good amount of cheesecurds but they were still cold-ish. They were sqeeky good! Gravy was decent, probably could have added a tad more. Overall, just average/subpar poutine. $8 is just too pricey for that. The special ones were $2 more. Interesting to note they have local varieties, special to each location? The Oshawa ones actually sounded decent!

Finally tried them out because online reviews were great... maybe drunk people? Unappetizing to look at and the flavour was worse. It literally looked and tasted like someone barfed into a box, closed it up, and handed it to me. Too much goop drowning soggy fries with rubber cheese bullets. I swear they took a mozzarella Cheesestring and cut it up onto the fries. Thankfully I didn't eat much of it and tossed it... it took all my life force not to throw up. Took nearly a day to get rid of the queasiness. Can't imagine if I had eaten more. Hard pass.

I've been to smokes a few times now and have tried a few different poutines. They are all pretty good. I wish the gravy was thicker though.

I used to be a regular but in the last few months I've gotten a cold poutine and now a poutine with almost no cheese. I will not be back

However, if you give me poutine done right, I will devour the fries and everything else in it. I bought a Groupon to dine at this Philthy Philly's eatery a while ago. I had passed by this location in the past, as my favourite Starbucks in Whitby is in this plaza. On Saturday, I drove over here. It was a soggy, rainy day, but it did not deter me from dropping by. I walked in. There were two construction workers in front of me. They were so sweet to let me order first. I said that I needed some time to look at the vast menu and let them take their time to order first. The man handling the cash and the food was polite and helpful. I had $20 to use. I went with the regular Philly cheesesteak and a regular breakfast poutine. I made a mistake with the latter and went a size up than I usually get. I normally do the Phil size, which is the small. When you order a cheeesteak and poutine, you get a drink for free. Nice! After all the dust had settled, I paid $3.14. First, it's nice paying pi. Second, the receipt had blue ink. It was different and cool. I got my cup and filled it up with Diet Coke at the beverage area. I liked the fork dispenser next to it and got a ton of napkins. I knew that I'd need them. I secured a comfy booth and watched TV. Roughly ten minutes later, my food was ready. My Philly cheesesteak had mushrooms, sauteed onions, green peppers, lettuce, and tomatoes. I asked whether the asian BBQ sauce had a strong ginger flavour. The man let me sample it. Awesome! It was perfect and I asked him to put it on my sandwich. My regular breakfast poutine looked amazing. It had two fried eggs, cheesesteak, and bacon. They were all in there with the cheese curds and gravy. I was so excited. I love the cheesesteaks here. It throws me back to visiting Philadelphia. My sandwich was perfect. The bread was perfectly toasted, but it was still soft and yummy. The beef in my cheesesteak was done right. I loved all the veggies and I'm so glad that I went with the asian BBQ sauce. The sandwich was delicious. The breakfast poutine was amazing. I didn't finish it all in one sitting and had the rest of it to take home. I normally don't like my eggs with runny yokes. However, when it mixes in with the gravy and cheese curds, it is a non-issue. I loved the cheesesteak and bacon mixed in with the poutine. It is so over-the-top good! The bacon isn't crispy, which is perfect for me. If you don't like bacon with body, you may want to pass on this one. Otherwise, I could eat the breakfast poutine as a meal. The place is clean. The women's washroom is also clean and maintained extremely well. The only complaint I have is walking around the restaurant. My shoes made that sticky noise whenever I lifted each foot off the floor. Other than that, I love this place. The food is tasty. Staff are courteous and hard-working. There was a steady stream of customers when I dined there. I'd come back in a heartbeat to experience another carb overload. (119)

The girl working was super nice and suggested she can make a pogo in a bun. I declined went to subway (same place) the customer service was atrocious at the subway but that's besides the point. Came back asked for the pogo in a bun and let me tell you it was actually pretty good. I genuinely appreciate the effort and creativity. Generous amount of onions in the bun huge plus, it's like she knew me ))) . Customer service 10/10. I'll be back for the proper hot dog next time.. or two! :)

It's an excellent place to stop. It's so good I even saw employees from the adjacent Subway get their lunch there. The classics are solid. The cheese dog is worthy of the name, and the poutine will make Canada proud. They are very generous with the gravy, making this a tasty proposition. The signature dishes are the Rise to Fries dog and rose to fries poutine, both featuring their "secret sauce" and pickles. Both are great and preferred over the plain classics. The sauce has a nice herby flavor that works well with the sour taste of the pickles. It's really worth a try. Finally, the lady at the counter was warm, friendly, and energetic, like she actually wanted to work there, a rare phenomenon in this industry.
