Nothing beats a poutine from Smoke's and I'm so glad they have their Buffalo chicken poutine once again! It's always been my favourite! I decided to try some of their new add-ons and wasn't really a fan; the pepperoni bites were hard and had no taste other than "burnt", the pogo dog was literally an over priced POGO stick brand dog, the popcorn chicken was okay but nothing special. But let's be honest they are known for poutine for a reason so as long as they keep killing it in the poutine game I will always give a good review!! I can't think of anything more Canadian than eating bunch of poutine and writing a review about it. Poutine is poutine, if you haven't tried it you should. This franchise gets my rating for innovating on something that doesn't need innovation but they found a way to make you realize poutine varieties was actually meant to be. Now I feel like I have to go back to order a different kind even if they are really all the same and don't taste any different. I like the pulled pork poutine outside of the traditional because it's the only one that seems to have a real difference in taste. This is what poutine is all about. Decent fries, amazing gravy and lots of tasty options to go with it. Too many to list, but definitely worth checking out. I went for the Italian - meat sauce and Italian sausage. It was so good! And unlike other places I've eaten poutine at, you still get gravy as well as the meat sauce. A good combination for my taste buds. They list on the menu the sauce is 'homemade' but I would say it tastes like from a can. Howeverm that being said, it is very nice, and I would order it again. I brought my man there for the first time. He is a poutine addict and he had never been. Tsk tsk. He stared at the menu like he was in heaven; he had no idea what to pick. The lovely lady working there told him not to be scared. She was great and knew a lot about Smoke's itself, not just the food. He got the Philly Cheesesteak and I got the usual Nacho Grande. I mentioned that I will eat guacamole on anything. She said I could get guac on whatever I wanted. Excellent. The Nacho Grande is my go-to, so I've got to try something new next time. Walked in to a very very rude employee. The sign was unplugged and we notified him, which he responded "they don't pay me enough to fix it." We probably should have walked out at the first rude encounter with this employee, we ordered anyways and our food wasn't worth the interaction or the wait. I haven't tried Smoke's poutinerie apart from a food truck in downtown Toronto but can only assume their quality assurance is the same across all their locations. These were disappointing. I ended up getting the regular/traditional meal size poutine because I felt you have to get the regular poutine right. Consider me a purist/traditionalist? Breakdown: Fries weren't that crisp and the entire dish (each component) wasn't warm, it was more lukewarm. Good amount of cheesecurds but they were still cold-ish. They were sqeeky good! Gravy was decent, probably could have added a tad more. Overall, just average/subpar poutine. $8 is just too pricey for that. The special ones were $2 more. Finally tried them out because online reviews were great... maybe drunk people? Unappetizing to look at and the flavour was worse. It literally looked and tasted like someone barfed into a box, closed it up, and handed it to me. Too much goop drowning soggy fries with rubber cheese bullets. I swear they took a mozzarella Cheesestring and cut it up onto the fries. Thankfully I didn't eat much of it and tossed it... it took all my life force not to throw up. We had Montreal Smoked meat Poutine in the a.m., drove back home to Oshawa and came here to compare the poutine. It's okay, and nowhere near the original stuff in Montreal! What to improve: There's a slight bitterness to the poutine resulting from the fact that the fries are not peeled, and over fried. The poutine would taste worlds better if they just peeled the fries & made sure to not over brown the potatoes. As well, the smoked meat is just sliced processed meat. Try using real smoked meat please. Otherwise the place is clean and bright, and is open very late hours. read more

I love Smoke's because the quality is consistent no matter the location. I've been to Smoke's in Halifax, Toronto and Oshawa and it is always good. I like this location in Oshawa even more because the Smoke's Hot Dog joint just opened up beside, so you can get a ridiculous hot dog and killer poutine right beside each other. read more

New to the area and came by after seeing the Chicken Bacon Ranch on facebook. Have never really had many types of poutine, other then at New York Fries but this poutine was very good. By far one of the worst poutinerie place I've ever been to. Now I'm sure this place was good at one point in life but this was my first time to this location, and let me tell you I am NEVER going back nor am I ever recommending this place to anyone. Let me start off by saying I'm sorry if this offends anyone but if you were in my shoes you would have agreed as well. So here is what I've experienced: It was around 9:45pm my wife and I had a long day and have decided that we should stop by at this famous poutinerie place in oshawa. From the outside the shop looks nice and the interior is well decorated (very appealing colors). We approached the counter and requested to know what was good as that was our first time there. The young boy with a black tang top and a school back pack told us that he recommends the "Country style Poutine Chicken" but without the peas instead bell peppers. So we went ahead with the order as it sounded appealing. While waiting for about 20 min my wife decided to go to the bathroom. When she return she was at shock, she told me how dirty the bathroom was, as if it was not cleaned in a month. So with silence we decided to watch who and how they handled our food. A very young boy (maybe 17 years of age) was basically doing everything while there were 5 others there talking and challenging each other about doing push up and swearing about a female girl they might have mated with the night before. At this point my wife was turned off by this place and decided to admire some of the "newspaper post" they have hung on walls, while looking thru them she noticed that the tables were dirty and crumbs of fries all over the place, the floor was very sticky and cob webs on the ceiling. Really made her wonder who cleans this place. After waiting 20min for two large portions of poutine our order was called up. We smiled and thanked the boy who made the food. When we reached home we opened our containers to be shocked by the state of the food, my wife and I tried a couple bits and was disgusted by the food, in her portion they added loads of gravy with no cheese and over filled with veggies. In mine barely any topping and little to no cheese at all, what's even worse is that they forgot to pour gravy on mine. How do you make poutine with little to no cheese and NO gravy? To think after paying $30.00 for our meal we would at least get a decent tasting meal... Either way I decided to have couple more bits of the fries and call it a night. The next morning I woke up with very upset stomach and continues vomiting for 2 days aka I was food poisoned. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE, my friends and family recommended me to report to the ministry of health department. That will be left to be seen. read more

I am so happy I've found this place. Regardless of the location, I am always happy that I chose to eat there. The staff is always so-up beat and ready-to-go. The music is awesome, such a nice change form today's music! There is so much to look at, and I love reading the menu! I usually get the pulled-pork poutine, or just the traditional poutine. Went on opening day, September 30th. The place was packed and there was a line-up, but the teenager on cash was cheerful and happy to serve. Ordered the traditional with the sauteed mushrooms to get a taste for their style. The cheese was great. Has a nice "squeak" to it. The gravy was bland. Almost tasted watered down but it was thick enough. Mushrooms looked good, but again were fairly tasteless. Fries weren't bad, but I did bite into a couple that were not entirely cooked through. All in all, can't say that I enjoyed it. I think I ate a quarter of it and tossed it. And I love poutine in all shapes and sizes, so it was a disappointment. Three of us stopped by to try it out on Sat Nov 9th around 4p.m. Restaurant was nicely decorated, very clean and fairly busy. There was a group of about 6 people waiting at the counter when we walked in and the order person/cashier just stood there staring into space. We couldn't figure out if we were in a lineup and waited a few of minutes before asking. There was no lineup and the order person took our order with reluctance. It seemed like we were bothering her. No smile, no hello, just a blank stare. We had a lengthy wait but there were several folks ahead of us to be served so we waited. When our order came up on the window, 2 traditional and 1 double pork there seemed to be some confusion. The double pork was taken off the window and someone was taught how to prepare it. The 2 traditional were left there and a few minutes later the double pork reappeared. The 3 orders then sat there until the order person took a new order at the cash and then proceeded to serve those folks their drinks from the cooler. We finally got our orders and left to eat in the car. Needless to say the 2 traditional orders were stone cold. The fries were crispy and very tasty but cold, the cheese curds were cold and therefore solid and the gravy was tasty but cold. The gravy must have been cold to begin with as the curds should have been a bit stretchy. I was so looking forward to real poutine but was sadly disappointed.
