They delivered the food and set it up with sterno to keep it warm. By far the most helpful and professional service I could have hoped-for. I loved this place so much I went back again the next day. It was just that had to have the fish n chips again. Theirs were perfectly fried, the "chips" were also nicely seasoned and well textured. I wish it was served with more tartar sauce, but the nice waitress brought more over immediately. There's a huge bar in the middle, I watched basketball at the bar the second time around and no matter which direction I turned my head, I had a perfect view of the game(s). I like to come here with my family and enjoy a nice meal with the kids. The flavors are always spot on and the atmosphere is very warm and friendly. I will say that the hostess that greets people (different one every time I have gone) does not actively greet patrons. Every one sits and stares at the visitors coming in and waits to be spoken to before replying to the guests. This must be a training this at the establishment. Different approach, but at least everyone else seems warm, friendly and inviting. The last time I went here, I had my extended family up and we shared the huge family share platter (I don't recall the name but it comes to the table with a smoking grill). Very tasty. I've worked in kitchens for 40+ years. I've cooked and eaten more BBQ than I care to remember. The true BBQ lover will avoid this place at all cost. I had the misfortune of ordering take out there Sunday night. I ordered the brisket dinner with two sides. Baked beans and cole slaw. The brisket was nothing short of a pile of mashed meat and fat. (The fat separated from the meat was more than the meat itself.) My son ordered the 2 choice combo. His consisted of the same brisket. No flavor no eye appeal. Just a pile. He also had the pulled pork that lived right up to expectations after trying the brisket. Dry and tasteless. As for the sides. The baked beans had obviously been sitting in steam all day. They had reduced to the point that the only thing you taste was sugar. The Cole slaw, which is a staple for any good BBQ. was plain shredded cabbage that lacked any color and was void of any taste other than limp cabbage taste. I'm not one to rip apart any establishment. I know the struggles that go along with it, including staffing. But really guys. Show a little pride in what you do. We fight an uphill battle everyday to get the respect we deserve in this business. No love from your Chefs on what's produced shows. read more

Someone needs to tell that giraffe that her logic is messed up. Then again, she wouldn't be a giraffe if she had logic, right? My friends come here all the time, and I didn't see the appeal until I came. The waitress was attentive and prompt, also VERY courteous (thank you Amanda!!!). I ordered the all you can eat tenders, and they are delicious. The cornbread is too good, I'm getting one for later. The food was great, and the place is clean and energetic. I'm definitely coming back! Since Yelp thinks my review is too short: the menu seems to have a lot to offer, ribs and steaks and burgers (oh my). I'll have to try all the sauces, they seem to have too many to try tonight. The manager came over to me to personally welcome me, and was actually courteous enough to wait until I had tried the food. Most places the manager either doesn't care enough to ask, or they come ask how the food "was" while you're on your second bite. Hi. I was in yesturday and have the worst serving experience ever. Our sever cheyenne was rude and highly inattentive. My family and i have been coming to that location for a while and im just really disappointed. I think she cared more about checking her phone then her actual tables and guest. Went here with the wife and her family. They ordered various dishes and seemed very satisfied. I forgot I hate the flavor of charbroiled (it tastes burnt and gross) and got a medium BLT. Great fresh ingredients, thick patty cooked to order and yummy seasoned fries. But I just kept tasting burnt patty no matter what. Oh well, I'm weird. I like this place. Have been here multiple times before and after their remodeling (sometime around the beginning of 2017). Unfortunately during the transition, they got rid of the dart boards! However, the restaurant looks pretty nice now! Very welcoming and the service is top notch. I have tried the ribs, chicken wings, burgers, and deserts. No complaints whatsoever. They also have a make your own menu which allows you to customize your exact meal. They offer everything from burgers-chicken sandwiches-pulled pork-briskets- and much more. Went here for dinner last night and the food was horrible - reminiscent of high school cafeteria food. I ordered the USDA choice sirloin with steakhouse butter, mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steak was dry, no butter to be seen. The mashed potatoes were a tiny cafeteria scoop worth, with a crusty outer layer? Tasted like instant mashed potatoes. And the broccoli was under cooked with a strange fish-flavor which was disgusting. My fiancé ordered the smoked Turkey with fries and corn. The Turkey tasted like cafeteria food. The fries were hard and tasted freezer burnt. The corn was super mushy. Our waitress was nice. Wouldn't recommend eating here. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, not anymore. The Smokey Bones experience leaves a lot to be desired. This restaurant is located on Route 31, near a lot of other big box franchises. Like many of its peers, Smokey Bones follows a surgically executed, feigned individuality. The interior, a hygienic expression of neo-western is adorned kitschy signage that features "Boneisms," written quips that forcibly attempt personality. And the soundtrack pumps the latest Top 40 dance hits. While we were quickly seated, the remainder of the evening's service was slow, awkward, and many times plain wrong. A couple of us ordered bacon on our burgers and got none. Another couple ordered the burger medium rare, only to have it served so well done it was dry. Onions were served when they weren't wanted, and not served where they were. No dish met the order. The food itself even fell short of average. The ingredients weren't fresh, and the preparation was obvious. The bacon was cold and floppy. The burger patties had a texture as though they were previously frozen. The prices are average, but given the experience, not worth it. With so many authentic and craft BBQ joints in the area, Smokey Bones sits at the bottom my list. read more

My favorite restaurant by far in the area. I always love coming here. Everything I order is consistently excellent. The service is always amazing and the staffs super friendly. They have great specials too. My favorite dish is the ribs, baby back or st. louis are both equally good, and I like the chicken tenders with brown sugar glaze. I've been here many times and it's never come out cold, or not done enough. I also really love the cole slaw. There are a lot of fun and delicious drinks that I love to have, always a great variety. I really like that they are always open late. I have come in at 11pm and the staff always greets me with a smile, and is super attentive. It is always super clean and there is a nice homey feel. (Over seasoned or weirdly breaded ) My husband got a burger (he asked for a medium cooked burger) and half of the burger was raw ! My mac and cheese was not worth the price . Honestly the food is not worth the price. Their beer was absolutely horrible. Very overpriced for food that's not worth the hype. Wow. Totally dropped the ball on our pick up order. Noticed we had 2 items missing when we got home. Called back and were told we could come get the missing items in 5-10 minutes. When I arrived, they had no idea what I was talking about. Waited 20 more minutes for the missing items. Asked for Burgers without certain toppings and those were wrong as well. Ironically our neighbors showed up at the same time as we were picking up and their order was completely wrong as well. Saw other customers that had ordered ribs and waited in the parking lot over 45 min for their order, just to find out they were out of ribs the whole time. There's something to be said about a good joint for utility BBQ. Chain restaurants tend to be thing to hate, but in this case it means consistency. Being a chain also adds the benefit of a points card system. Every 200 you spend get's you 20 bucks on your points card. 10 dollar off coupons show up in the mail quite frequently. They even email you coupons if they notice you haven't visited in awhile. Bonuses aside, I love the food here. Rarely are the baby back ribs tough. They're usually pretty tender, and have that pink ring that comes from smoking meats. The brisket is flavorful and tender as well. The pulled pork is delicious and moist. I also like the smoked wings there too. They've got a wide variety of sauces, but I happen to love mustard based BBQ sauces, which they actually have there. Their nachos come on a huge platter, and you can get a different meats on them, such as pulled pork or chicken chili. Their alcohol selection is average, and not all that interesting. I got St. Louis ribs with one favorite (brisket). I am from Texas and I guess no brisket can beat Texas brisket. I've tried better brisket in Killeens BBQ in Pearland, Texas. It is still pretty good though. St Louis Ribs were definitely not what I expected. You get to choose what kind of sauce do you like. There are three type, original, brown sugar and dry Memphis rub. I chose brown sugar cause that's what my boyfriend recommended. I liked the sauce that was used. I didn't like the ribs itself. I think St. Louis ribs is a little too fatty for me. I should Have gotten baby ribs instead. As for the sides it was ok, the waitress was nice enough to get me extra gravy because I love gravy! I really like their corn bread with honey butter! The corn bread was warm and toasty when it got here and it was absolutely fantastic. definitely a must try when you come here. On a weekday fall evening, I decided to try dining here with a co-worker after agreeing that we wanted BBQ without the hassles of trying that place whose name I cannot mention in Syracuse. There is a risk in having any expectations for fine BBQ outside of the traditional bastions of BBQ greatness ( think Lockhart, TX, Kansas City, Memphis, TN, and even North Carolina, etc..) I'm highly partial to BBQ brisket, Texas style, but, I can appreciate well prepared BBQ of different origins. Smokey Bones allures you with an appealing name, a nice looking building, a wood smoke aroma outside, an even better aroma inside, and then has a very nice rustic/country dining atmosphere. If you have dined at any national restaurant chain, there are more similarities than differences. This place, like others, is more about artificially convincing you that you are in Italy, Mexico, a neighborhood pub etc... except it's staffed with young, transient employees who are not knowledgeable about the food or the basic tenets of service. OK, enough over analysis... The real measure of this place is the food, service and atmosphere. In reverse order, the atmosphere was quite nice attractive and rustic with exposed timber beams. I haven't seen either exposed timber beams or table service at real BBQ joints so, I fell for the faux atmosphere. Service was prompt, courteous, although bordering on the " Hello, Welcome, order and rush your ass out" attitude. My co-worker ordered Baby Back Ribs and he seemed pleased (of course he was...I paid for dinner!) I ordered the Smoked Beef Brisket, my favorite from Texas...I don't care about the sides, I was there for the Q. Oh brother, my dish of brisket was served and immediately I saw thinly, machined sliced, very dry, room temperature brisket in a small portion which was served to me. A tiny smoke ring, dry, thin sliced meat (not hand cut), paltry (if any) flavor was a tremendous disappointment. If you can serve me great food in a tent or on the side of a road, I will give you 5 stars. Purporting to be a BBQ joint and serving dry, (leftover perhaps???) meat with borderline ingratiating (annoying) perky and uninformed service adds up to 2 meager stars. That's 3 stars for atmosphere and 0.1 for the food. Too bad there is no 1.2487 stars to award. If you have not been to a BBQ haven ( TX, TN, NC KS, MO etc..) you might just drink the Kool-Aid. read more

I just had their brisket and rib combo and I was blown away - the ribs were cooked perfectly - fall off the bone deliciousness in every bite. The brisket was slow cooked and made to perfection. Our waiter recommended many great options and we tried them all. From their fire roasted corn, to their mushroom wine sauce for the sirloin. My son ordered the Mega nachos with just cheese and pulled pork, it was cold, dry and only the top part contained any toppings, my Granddaughters kids pulled pork was ok, I had a burger that was good, but my baked potato that I ordered with it was barely warm, my husband ordered the brisket plate, the biggest disappointment of them all, it was it was more like pot roast and very dry, and he only ate about half of it, we pointed it out to the server who yes offered another plate of it, but at this point we were done, not manager visit, no discount, just a nonchalant server! I often hear the phrase that Smokey Bones doesn't compare to Dinosaur BBQ. You're right, it doesn't. Meanwhile, Smokey Bones isn't anything to complain about, either. The BBQ might not be fantastic, but it's good. And, if you aren't from the South or TX/MO you'll be very impressed. Smokey is chain BBQ, yes, we get that, but there's value here. You can get a three meat combo (that tastes good) for an affordable price and while it's not award winning, it's not far off. The brisket, chicken, turkey and pork I've had has been tender, tasty, filling and didn't burn a hole in my pocket. It's also a good place with fair service to watch games and family friendly. And, most likely, you aren't going to have to wait an hour like at Dinosaur. Meanwhile, there's one thing that's tough to overlook: the sweet tea is weak (it's not brewed with sugar cane, rather made with liquid sugar). Tough to consider this chain serious without true sweet tea. Meanwhile, in Upstate NY, no one should complain about Smokey Bones. It's way better than other chains and blows away the food at Outback, Applebees, Chilis, Red Lobster and other nearby chains. read more

So to start, on a good note they seated us as a family of 7 (2 adults and 5 kids). Some big chain restaurants won't even seat us together or seat us at all. The waitress was fast on getting us our drinks and was tentative. As far as the food, I am keto and order burgers without a bun. I got the volcano burger which comes with a chipotle Mayo and "volcano sauce". I ordered without a bun and no onion rings. When the food came out, everyones looked great, but mine. They made it without a bun as asked, but they did put the onion rings on top and put the VERY small amount of Mayo on the onion rings. When I took them off, all of the Mayo went with them. No volcano sauce what so ever and the burger tasted like a frozen patty. I was not impressed at all! In fact I was really upset and didn't even want to eat it. It was not tasteful at all! I ended up having to ask for a side of Mayo to put on it myself. Everyone else's food looked good and was filling though. I did have a side salad as well which was quite big and tasty. I remarked to husband both rib types were dry and barely warm. When I turned over the Baby-back ribs they were completely burned black, charred and hard. Uneatable. When waitress presented check I showed her why I didn't eat them. Asked her to tell kitchen to check meats before serving. She was properly sympathetic but, really, didn't care. I went to Smokey Bones for the 1st time today. My date had ribs, and I had a combo platter of pulled pork and sliced smoked chicken breast. I was very pleasantly surprised at the cole slaw, and the dirty rice was also quite good. The service was very good, and the food was great. I feel the prices are reasonable as well. They had a decent variety of BBQ sauces at the table to choose from. It didn't affect the taste of the food but the floor at the booth we sat at was sticky. I didn't see the bathroom so I can't comment on that. Overall, I had a very positive experience and will go back hopefully soon. read more
