Honey, who shrunk my nachos? Have been somewhat of a regular at Smokey Bones in Liverpool. I like to go on Thursdays for their buy-one-get-one brisket special. But no more! Recently, I went for dinner and thought they accidentally handed me the little lunch menu by mistake but no! It's their new all- day menu and it's limited. Side vegetables like their fabulous, broccoli and corn are now gone . In the past, I got the $20 nachos for appetizer and it was large enough to serve four people but not anymore. Still $20 ($19.99); still delicious; but very small serving now. (Could be considered to be too big for one person and too small for two.) Drink special is wonderful. Had a couple of delicious beefeater martinis for five dollars each. Waitress Lena did a nice job. Every time I leave I remember that I did not advise the server of my Bones Club membership. It's a nice idea to have the loyalty program, but I can't understand why the wait staff isn't trained to ask the guests about it after they are seated. Total disappointment. I went in expecting good BBQ and solid drinks, and that is not what I got. This was honestly one of the worst meals I've had in years. The fries were soggy, the meat was tough, and there was basically no flavor anywhere on the plate. For a place that's supposed to specialize in BBQ, that's a big miss. Lunch at Smokey Bones was very good and my friend and I both enjoyed our meals. We looked over the menu and had a hard time deciding but ended up going with lunch specials. I ordered the bowl which gives you choices of the base, the protein, 4 extras and dressing or sauce. I was feeling like salad so I ordered the lettuce with pulled chicken and cheese, onion, mushrooms, tomato and balsamic vinaigrette. It was a very decent serving for the price. I thought the portion would be smaller and was pleasantly surprised. We had excellent service and will definitely be going back. read more

I ordered doordash today for coworkers. The food came hot. The bbq chicken sandwich was a hit with two of us. The crispy crunchy onion pie es, the bourbon bbq sauce, the juicy chicken.... Yum! Smokey Bones Liverpool is one of my 82 year old mother's favorite restaurants. She loves the ribs and is crazy about the cornbread and maple butter. Tonight's dinner was especially great because we had a very lovely waitress named Lena! Lena, was extremely attentive and caring. Stopped by Smokey Bones for dinner on a recent Friday night. It is a large restaurant, so it was easy for two of us to get in quickly. Our waitress quickly took our drink order and food order. I kid you not, our food came out within 5 minutes of getting our drinks! I have not had such quick and attentive service in a long time! My husband and I both got a full rack of baby back ribs, which comes with two sides and garlic bread. The ribs were sticky and sweet and we definitely required the wet-naps we were provided. The sides were average and I would have preferred corn bread with bbq over garlic bread, but it was a decent dinner for the price. We both took home half of our ribs and had another meal. Just a quick note. I have been to Smokey Bones 5 times over the last year / all during the lunch hour. Food was fantastic, service was excellent & with a very friend staff [both guys & gals]. Prices are like anyplace else. So you can eat crap at McDonalds or an excellent Chicken, Summer Salad, cheesburger or hot wings with a nice cold iced tea plain or flavored rasberry iced tea or home made lemonade. Can't recommend them any more. I've been going to the Bones regularly ever since they had Blue Bell ice cream on the menu, but my experience on the 14th of March was more than disappointing. My son came up from Texas and we headed to the Bones, as usual, only to find NO MORE CORNBREAD. That killed it. Moreover, the ribs, although tasty, jus didn't seem to have as much meat on them. For staters the service is great, nothing I say reflects the service in any type of way. The food is a sad excuse for bbq. The smoked sausage was so salty I could barely stomach it and I had to drown my pulled pork in bbq sauce in order to eat it. Their Carolina bbq sauce should change its name to Carolina inspired because its concepts of Carolina bbq, I lived there for 17 years. The mash potatoes are very thick, basically creamed potatoes. The Brunswick stew has way too much tomato so it ended up tasting like chunky tomato soup with corn. The corn bread is the same as boxed corn bread, nothing special. I was going to leave a 3 star review but after spending 85$ on mediocre food that should be 40$ I'm being generous with a 2. As far as ambiance goes it's the same as Cheesecake Factory, very dim. We ordered the 39.99 bone fire and it came out freezing cold with no charcoal no steam no nothing. We told our waitress Stacy and she said they "forgot" the charcoal and took it back and it appeared they just shoved it in the oven and brought it back out once again with no charcoal?? We ended up just putting it all on a plate because there was no reason to have the grill if there was no charcoal and our food was cold. And our table stayed dirty like the whole time she took one plate and left all our dirty plates on the table the entire time. When the food was delivered everything was luke warm (at best) the only thing that was hot was the tomato soup for the grilled cheese. The server was running (too many tables not enough servers). My daughters food was delivered wrong then the server asked her to take off the pulled pork because if they remake it they are just going to throw it away, who says that to a kid? When I complained to the manager about the wait and temperature of the food, he asked if we ordered an appetizer, I relied we had and he indicated that he would remove that cost. He was apathetic at best, I even started my complaint with I know it's Fathers Day and very busy, but the food is cold! We will not go back, this was our 1st experience here and last! I want to preface this negative review by saying that the waitresses here are great. Very kind and good at their jobs. But the systems and management must be terrible. Today I ordered six appetizers through their website well in advance. My pick up time was approximately 4:30 and I showed up at 4:40 to find out that they did not have any record of the order. They did rush my order to get me my apps in about 25 minutes. But after I left, I realized there were two apps missing. I should have checked before I left. I called back and asked if I could come back by in an hour and get the missing apps. They said yes. I came back about 75 minutes later and there were no apps waiting for me. I heard someone yell out an order for them in the kitchen. I left as I wasn't going to wait another 20 minutes. This place has some ok food and some very nice people working there, but they absolutely must fix their systems and that usually is the responsibility of management. Growing up in Baldwinsville it's a wonder we never went to this restaurant before. At first glance it looks like a good old sports bar with a large menu, but the food and service exceeded all my expectations. The pretzels and beer cheese was a great starter, which I followed up with 4 smoked wings in a Memphis dry rub and 4 boneless wings in a spicy garlic buffalo sauce. The smoked wings were SO good that I will be getting a plate of those and those alone next time! Our server was exceptional and recommended I try the "tropic like its hot" mixed drink and I'm so glad she did, it put me right on a beach in my head even though it was raining outside. Went to celebrate grandson yesterday. He wanted boneless wings. Husband got chicken sandwich and I got boneless wings as well because grandson could eat my leftovers. Boneless wings were so hard and burned he couldn't even cut them. Chicken sandwich for husband not very good. Beer skunky, sprite & cokes tasted bad, there was nothing about the meal that I can say was good...except waitress was super nice. She was so apologetic. We go here a lot and I've never had an experience like this. Food and beer is usually 5/5 stars. Please don't let your restaurant go down hill. Manager needs to be on site. Food is amazing. They offer several combo platters to sample a couple meats and sides, and you match it with the barbecue sauces on the table for a different taste every time. The music is upbeat, but then a random Christian song was on today out of place but interesting. Our family ate her after attending a the funeral of my wife's grandmother. We had a party of about 20-25 people. This place immediately reminded me of Famous Dave's which I've been to several times. Our table ordered the cornbread with this apple butter, that was tasty. We also ordered these pork belly pops, which to the naked eye just looked like pieces of fat. It is a several pieces of pork fat grilled and put on a stick. That appetizer was amazingly tasty. I can't wait to try those again. My wife and I ordered the double trouble or something like that. You get 4 baby back ribs and 4 St Louis spare ribs, with 2 sides. I ate my baby back ribs and took the spare ribs hone. This dish was very good.
