Friendly welcoming atmosphere and family owned make this a nice place to dine. The restaurant is located on the dead end with a Very inauspicious entrance without a sign. Looks like there was plenty of outdoor seating during the warmer weather. I was immediately greeted by a lovely young man who took my order and brought the food to the table. I ordered the quarter rack of ribs and two sides, the mac & cheese and coleslaw. Both sides were ample and delicious, and the ribs were meaty and fell right off the bone. They had a Thanksgiving special for just under $19 which included the works. I was tempted to get that, but didn't want to spoil my anticipation of Thanksgiving dinner. There is a nice selection of beverages, including beer, both on tap and in the cooler. I didn't notice any desserts on the menu, just typical barbecue fare, delicious and served quickly.

Word-of-mouth as this place is very good. They're doing some renovations outside so it looks messy but inside is good. Service was super friendly and quick. I had a pulled pork sandwich and their baked beans. Pork was excellent nice smoky flavor. Their sauce was pretty good as well. The beans are definitely homemade. This place is a bit pricey but what place isn't. This place is definitely worth a try.

Great food and great atmosphere You order your food they bring it to you that service could be better. Other than that the food is good.

The owner and workers were very friendly and made sure to clear the table as we finished everything and offered refills on our drinks. This is described as fast casual so you go to the counter to place your order and the food is brought to you. I enjoyed the decor and found the seating to be comfortable. The food tastes really good but I feel it is on the pricier side. I also wish my mac and cheese was served in a different dish because the cardboard began to get really soggy. Overall, I'd definitely go back and try out some more food on the menu.

Had the brisket sandwich for both of us and added the Mac salad and the jalepeno cheddar tots then decided we wanted ribs and they accommodated us since the ribs usually come with two sides and we got them by themselves so glad we did!! Don't miss out on these they are perfect smoke tender pull lots of meat. Service was friendly, helpful, accommodating, and welcoming. Very clean spot good accompanying music and wood style chairs and tables are down home BBQ feel. Nice place and will be back. Ray Bros cannot touch this smoke and bbq flavor!

It's a fan favorite on Reddit, and our hotel recommended the restaurant as well. When you drive past, there's always a parking lot full of cars for good reason. When you enter Smokin Petes, you place your order and they give you a pager. You can sit at the bar, there's plenty of indoor seating, but I definitely recommend taking advantage of their outdoor seating if the weather permits. Just based on the vibes indoors and out, you know you're in for a treat. Considering it was a Friday, the line to order and amount of cars coming in and out of the lot, our food was ready surprisingly quickly. For a starter we order wings in Alabama white. For our entrees we ordered their two meat combos, both opting for their brisket and ribs. For our sides we tried their mac & cheese, coleslaw, tater tots & garlic parmesan salt potatoes. Everything was excellent. The meat was cooked to perfection - the seasoning. On the ribs had a nice kick. The sides were fresh and definitely not diet friendly. The portions were decent, and we ended up taking home leftovers that made their way back to Long Island. By far one of the best, casual, places I've gone to eat.

The kids tried broccoli salad had a nice flavor but I had mostly the hard parts and not much the flurets. Mac and cheese was good, salt potatoes are assume. My husband liked the slaw, thou he likes it with pineapple. He was not overly thrilled with mac salad. Drinks I tried were the blueberry smash. Very tasty. Not that thrilled with the peach drink that was 25 dollars. But I drank it. Tastes more like a Ice tea drink. Service is good. They take your order at the bar with a designated area to wait in line. Give you a buzzer to pick it up at the window. They have a condiment area to get soda, utensils, sauce sides and so on. They have seating inside and out side. You can play with games they have set up. Inside it decorated with old and new signage. They have a book of bourbon selection. Bar stools chairs and tables, booths and high top tables. People clean up after themselves. Kid friendly. People are friendly. Most of the times we went they were busy or at least a steady flow of customers. If you get a chance to stop here to eat you will not ve disappointed!!

So my only gripe but be warned I take my Que seriously is the smoked Mac and cheese lacked smoke but I'm hard to please when it comes to my bbq. I'll definitely be back to try my way around the menu.

Coming in on a Tuesday night, the place was busy and the wait was about 30 minutes -- but there was free seating at the bar. Fair enough, not many restaurants were even open in Geneva on a Tuesday. The food was solid -- nothing extraordinary, but nothing to complain about either, and the presentation on those big plates is genuinely fun. The lady bartender had her hands full preparing drinks while also serving everyone seated at the bar, including food orders. It was sometimes hard to catch her attention, but overall she did a great job juggling it all. What really bothered me: the owner (CB) is one of the few Master Sommeliers in the world and a big promoter of the FLX wine region (which I love), so can anyone explain why a glass of FLX wine costs about 40% more than a glass of California or even Australian wine? That's not exactly "Think NY, Drink NY" -- despite those charming stickers around the restaurant (which I do love).

While it is located in a 1800s-era building, the "saltbox" in its name actually refers to its method of curing more than 15 varieties of bacon, one of the specialties of the establishment at 6152 Barclay Road in Sodus, the former home to the Heluva Good! Country Store. The deli/restaurant is a dream fulfilled for the husband-and-wife team of James and Sara Wheaton. The pair enjoyed spending time together in the kitchen and started cooking for large events such as her sister's wedding. With supporters encouraging them to take their cuisine to the next level, they hunted for a place to house a restaurant for more than a year. Finally, the building off Route 104 struck a chord. The eatery serves as both deli and restaurant. Cured and smoked meats, such as bacon, smoked turkey, pastrami and pork loin, can be ordered on their own from the counter. Bacon comes in 15 flavors including apple bourbon, garlic, maple and horseradish. My wife and I recently stopped into the Saltbox on a whim while in the area, after passing the sign for them many times in between trips to Rochester. Small building, and there were already a couple customers there at right around noon on a Saturday. You order at the counter, then sit at one of the 6-8 tables they have in the nicely renovated building, and they bring you your food. They have daily specials, and this days were burnt ends. We both ordered sandwiches - my wife ordered the "On Top of Old Smokey", a sandwich with smoked cheesy meatballs on a sub roll, with a spicy tomato sauce and provolone, served with chips, and I went with the Steakhouse Sandwich, a sandwich filled with brisket, bacon, spicy pickles, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion on a roll, and I swapped out the chips for a side of bacon mac and cheese for an upcharge. We also got a 1/4 lb of the burnt ends to try. The dining area filled up quickly, but our food was brought pretty quickly. We really enjoyed our sandwiches, especially the meatballs which had a great flavor. The mac and cheese was bland, but I have yet to find good mac and cheese at a restaurant in CNY. But the star were the burnt ends - absolutely bursting with flavor, straight up meat candy. Wife and I could've made a meal just outta those. The price is comparable to other BBQ places. The service was fine - employees weren't exactly enthused to be there. No one was rude or anything, but we almost got the feeling we were being bothersome to them, but could've been an off day. We would definitely go back to try other stuff, or just for them burnt ends.
