This place has really gone downhill in the last year. This used to always be one of my favorite places to go when we were in the Melbourne area. This past year, the food has changed and is not nearly as good as it used to be and the service was dreadful. The turkey which used to be delicious was nothing but hunks of fat on my plate... It looked like they gave me the chewed up remnants from somebody else's plate... The pretzel bones used to come with a variety of dipping options and now come just with the cheese sauce.... Another disappointment. The service is another issue entirely. The four times we've been there so far this summer, the service has been awful. Excellent services and atmosphere with cheap beer

I was browsing looking for a good BBQ place cause this town is sadly lacking in that department and this place pulled up as one of the top rated and I have to tell you I am shocked. Does no one realize that all that "yummy" bbq pulled pork comes to them frozen? If you didnt know or dont believe me get them to cater an event for you, we did it at my old job and we received sealed frozen bags of pulled pork with microwave or oven instructions and bags of bbq sauce and bags of rolls that I could have gotten at sam's. so yeah nothing is all that fresh there. you pay good money for "fresh" food but unless they've suddenly invested some money in pit masters at each location, your foods coming of the grill fresh from whatever massive cooking facility they use. be wary of chain restaurants ideas on fresh. read more

Forget going to this restaurant if you're in a wheelchair. The seating is almost exclusively booths so it's next to impossible to get seated. Even worse my wife was impolitely referred to as "the wheelchair" right in front of her as if she were the problem. read more

My male server was horrible. He was polite to all the others customers but treated me as if I was a bother. He wouldn't slow down so I could even get a word out. When I complained to the manger his response was "He is one of our best servers". If this what they call their best I wouldn't want to experience their worst. As far as BBQ goes I am pretty selective. There are a ton of good to great BBQ joints scattered throughout Florida and the US so to this one was completely off my radar for years as I have my favorites, however I dropped by for a quick bite today and they had some pretty original sandwiches and some great garlic Mac and Cheese. From what I heard from the friendly bartender, Carrie, customers either love it or hate it as it is very full of garlic. I am definitely leaning toward the former. I also got a pulled pork Cuban which was somewhat interesting. One thing about BBQ Joints is the quality of their BBQ sauce and the sandwich really did not have enough on it, but that was all good as they had a ton of choices on the table. I like the food here but will never come again because I hate how stingy they are. NO free birthday dessert for my nine-year-old's birthday--unless we are in their "Club." WHAAAT?! Asked for a loaded baked potato, and was told that cheese, chives, and bacon were an additional charge, even though they have it pictured as such on the menu. I hate that kind of deceptive marketing. They have three "levels" if side dishes- you only get the basics with your meal, but if you want other sides that aren't on the basic list, you need to pay more-- and it's not exactly cheap to eat here to begin with. We got the fried pickles for appetizer VERY good, my husband and I both built our own sandwiches he got a turkey burger and I get a grilled chicken sandwich everything was yummy, also like that you could get on ciabatta bread at no extra cost. The worst dining experience I've ever had. The $11 glass and a half of house wine was the only decent thing about the place, and that in itself should tell you how awful the prices are for the quality. Service was terrible- never asked how the appetizers were even after we sent away half a plate of nachos (which tasted ok, but were ice cold). Told her the chicken entree was not what I'd expected and didn't touch it after the first bite, no apology, offered to get me something else, but by this point it was obvious how the rest of the food would taste. $110 we will never get back, but hey, at least it got me inspired enough to write my first yelp review. read more

Honestly, a bit pricey for what you are getting. Service is spotty, some good, some bad. Food is generally acceptable though I have had to send things back on occasion. Eric the bar tender is always super helpful when I go in to Smokey Bones. Very friendly and always on point. They have a great menu with lots of specials most days of the week. If you have not been here in a while I recommend it. They have redone the decor, place looks and operates great. read more

Disaster. My first time there. We walked in, they were not that busy, and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table to be cleared. (All the tables were dirty)/Took another 10 minutes to see a server and order our drinks. The wrong drink was served to my son. She never did offer to refill my drink. When the meals came out, they were both wrong. They did end up comping our meals but what a fiasco. Also, the women's bathroom towel dispenser (3 of them) don't work. I went here once, and that was enough for me. I ordered a barbeque sampler type dinner which consisted of brisket, pulled pork, and something else that I forget, and a few sides. The brisket was spongy and looked very unappetizing...the pulled pork is what put me over the edge to never go back...It was in a puddle, and I mean a PUDDLE of grease. Now I know good barbeque is going to be greasy, but it needs to be that "greasy delicious" if you know what i mean. This was sitting in a pool of orange grease. I immediately got the waiter and showed him and he was appalled. He apologized and comped me for it..but the manager was very rude when he came to the table asking if I had eaten barbeque before and other insulting questions. Never again! read more

It isn't a perfect place, but it's often great. Rarely will something go wrong here relative to a few other places, and the staff is very welcoming and helpful. Some unique options on the menu and the quality is decent, if not a bit expensive for what you get. Several people that visit us and get taken here say they love it, and very few end up disliking it. I loved their St. Louis style ribs... very hefty tasty portion. Squirt bottles of four types of their bbq sauce on the table made it a learning experience as to which one I preferred. The sweet potato stix were delicious but I just am in love with sweet potato anything nowadays. Oh! We came here on the recommendation of my brother for my husband's birthday. We will NEVER be back. Our server was kind of a flake, but nice. We ordered 2 apps the loaded nachos & loaded fries. The nachos were pretty much $11 for a pile of chips. They were supposed to have queso & cheese, which seemed to b on the very top ONLY & very little. We took off 4 chips & asked the waiter if this was normal to not have anything underneath? He looked confused & said "I don't think so" we thought he would offer to get us a new one or take it off the bill, but after an akward silence i finally asked if we could at least have more queso to dunk the chips in. The loaded fries were AMAZING they were crispy & full of stuff like the nachos should have been. Fries were the best part of the whole meal. My daughter & I ordered burgers & hubby had the pick 2 (1/4 chicken & tri tip). Both burgers looked like they were deep fried and had absolutley no flavor in the meat. I took 2 bites and left the rest. Daughter ate half becuase shw was starving. My husbands tri tip was very tender, but had absolutley no flavor not even salt & pepper. The 1/4 chicken at least had flavor to the outside, but was definitely NOT smoked. Didnt tasted smoked or have the smoke ring inside the meat. The baked beans were almost too sweet, but ok. The cinnamon apples tasted like pie filling from a can. I feel so bad because he had been looking forward to going to smokey bones since we moved to Palm Bay over a year ago. He was extremely disappointed as was I. We got a free dessert for his bday so we took home the donuts i guess we will see later how those taste. We obviously do not recommend smokey bones except maybe a beer & loaded fries. Just as a side note the portion sizes on the pick 2 were quite small for the price. My husband and I just moved to the area and are in the process of weeding out the good, the bad, and the ugly of the hundreds of restaurants in the area. I was in the mood for fish but we some how ended up in Smokey Bones parking lot, call it flicked fate; so we parked and went in. Upon entering the retail space was huge, we were greeted with a smile and seated promptly. Our server came over with menus and asked us for the usual drinks, my husband does not drink alcohol and always orders seltzer water with lemon; we were told they do not carry or serve seltzer water so my husband ended up ordering the Blackberry Lemon aid which was so god awful sweet we had to water it down with soda water which the server finally figured out was seltzer water; we got two full extra glasses of drinks out of the one glass of lemon aid that's how sweet it was....if you are diabetic stay very very far away from this drink. Our meals arrived and looked good, I dug into my baked potato first;eating from the center out, it was cooked perfectly then I hit the ribs...this is when things started to fall apart; if it we not for the sauce I would have sent them back, they were so dry it was sinful to say the least. Now, we are huge baked bean fans so I went on to the beans, put one bite in my mouth and actually spit them out....yes I spit them out! Those were the nastiest baked beans I have ever had in my life! They were so grossly sweet they were inedible....at that point we were done. I pulled my bill up on the payment screen and was horrified at he amount I was paying for such a horrible meal. With a minimal tip our meal came to over 50.00, we were now loaded with so much sugar and salt that both of us were actually ill for hours after eating there and my fingers are like balloons still this morning.....never again! read more

We went kind of late (9:30pm) the food was horrible. The ribs were dried out and the fries were greasy & room temerature. We also ordered a bag of their famous donuts for dessert and returned them. They were super greasy & they taste like old fryer grease! Yuck! Our service was not great either. The server was NOT attentive to our needs! We asked for things and never received them. We visit every time we are in the Melbourne area visiting family. First time trying the beef brisket which I carefully read before ordering as I have some food allergies and dislikes. When the waitress brought the food it looked presentable and I was eager to try it. There was an unknown sauce drizzled on the top piece of meat which was gross. No worries I'll just ask the waitress how to solve that problem. When i called her back over and told her my problem and disliked the sauce she gave me he most pathetic weak smile and said sorry and walked away! UNACCEPTABLE! I had to phone the front desk and ask the manager to come over. He brought me new meat but it just ruined the whole experience. My mother in law was also very disappointed with her rob that were tough. We were told that BBQ is not always accurate and it's a science so it doesn't always work out that it falls off the bone. Being in Melbourne on business, I decided to just point the car in a direction and stop when a place catches my eye; this time is was Smokey Bones. I arrived a little after 5:00pm and noticed the parking lot was rather empty in comparison to the neighbors. Upon entering, I found the entire restaraunt very dark. I was taken to a nice booth, given the menus, and I waited. Finally, my waitress arrived and took my drink, appetizer, and dinner order. My drink was the first to arrive. I ordered what I thought was a simple lemonade, no alcohol, nothing special, just lemonade. It was very watery, in fact it was mostly water. Moments later, my appetizer showed. I ordered fried pickles. Although I could tell they were right out of the frier, the pickles were extremely salty, not entirely inedible though. I could only consume so many. Around 10 minutes later, my entree arrived. I ordered a brisket dinner with their seasoned corn and BBQ beans. The beans were warm and sweet, very enjoyable. The corn was a unique (in a very good way) experience. Both sides were very good. The brisket was lukewarm and blah at best. I guess it is a chain restaraunt, so what can I expect? Later my waitress, when I mentioned the lemonade was weak, she replied she was wondering, but wanted me to say something. Not the best way to operate. However, she brought me a fruit punch that was fine. Overall, the service was fine, but the food was underwhelming. I don't think I will ever return. read more
