We passed Smokey Bones on the way to an italian restaurant but there was some busy street fair going on so we turned around and decided to give this place a try. This was seriously some of the best food I've ever eaten in my life. I was skeptical because its clearly a chain, but the food was exceptional. Wish I could give ZERO stars, the food was horrendous at this place. When me and my wife came in this evening the place was basically empty except for a few bar flies watching foot ball. Ordered a simple hamburger and side of fried pickles took 30 min to get it. I would of been happier with Burger King. Burger didn't come as i ordered and it was topped with little pieces of soggy lettuce and a little onion slice and tiny little cup of beans. Exceptional service two days in a row from Nick C. :). He advised us on exactly what we should eat. Fish and Chips and pulled pork sand which ... My wife and I split the order and shared. As mentioned we came back the very next day with our youngest daughter for lunch and ordered Memphis ribs and fish and chips. Mouthwatering is all I can say. Nick treated us right. Exceptional server... Never had to ask for anything .. 2nd drink vinegar for fish all delivered with precision. Nick is very comfortable and familiar with the restaurant environment. We came for lunch and were cheerfully greeted. Overall the experience was fine, but the one thing that overshadowed the experience was our waitress. She was very nice to us but she constantly accused the other waitresses of doing things wrong. Very unprofessional. She also wore pants that were two sizes too small and kept leaning over the table next to us exposing things that didn't need to be exposed during our dinner. Very unprofessional. I have to say that we observed the other waitresses and all seemed to be very nice, efficient, and professional. We happened to get the wrong one. The food was very good. Several of us had the ribs, which were tender and cooked very nicely. The selection of sauces allowed everyone to try their favorites. The barbecue baked beans were absolutely wonderful, as were the baked potatoes. For dessert we chose two options to split among our four diners. You absolutely have to try the "bag of doughnuts". They cook them fresh then shake them in a bag of sugary coating, and serve them with small dishes of chocolate and fruit sauces for dipping. Hot and awesome! We also shared the chocolate cake with ice cream, which is great for chocolate lovers! Smokey Bones is definitely worth a visit for the food and very good desserts. I got a Chicken Parm sandwich after discovering that fries are a dollar more with all burgers. Call me crazy but a ten dollar burger should come with fries in my opinion. The sandwich was good and I enjoyed it. Nothing special but pretty good. The nachos were also quite good, though again it is extra if you want any meat to go with them. The prices are not low so the constant nickel and diming gets old fast. The service was good and I liked the atmosphere. Casual but nice. Started out with some Buffalo Wings, not very spicy, but they still had good flavor. They came out with Ranch and Blue Cheese. We ordered the 16 piece between the four of us. We also ordered the Fried pickles. I wasn't real impressed with their pickles, I don't know if it is the pickle or the breading, but I have had better pickles elsewhere. I had the smokehouse burger...no not the Smoke Stack...just the small one. It was very good, and it is a super huge burger, I was not able to finish my burger, and that doesn't happen very often. I keep thinking one day I will try the Smoke Stack, it is a giant triple burger (1.5lbs) with pulled pork and all sorts of stuff on it! Our host was very nice, she cracked jokes and made it pleasurable. We were lucky and got to sit towards the back of the restaurant, and there wasn't as much overhead noise. Our waitress, Kyley, was very friendly and accommodating! She knew her stuff and let us know when there was an extra charge for a refill on the chocolate milk. Nice because I hate when wait staff offer things and then you are surprised by the up-charge on the bill. I had the salmon with the mac and cheese and roasted corn, all very yummy. A good sized piece of salmon for the price. My husband had the sirloin and baked potato and it was delicious. The kids had noodles and my youngest raved about the broccoli. We were STUFFED and didn't have room for dessert, but the donuts looked yummy! It was just okay. Draft beer selection is weak. Ordered a burger, which would have been much better but it was served on the absolutely crappiest bun I've ever experienced. They also use a table tablet system that is a novel idea but takes too long to figure out. Interesting appetizers and nice drink specials if you keep your eyes and ears open. This place is a staight up ribs place that has a choce of burgers too. Better than the new place that opened up down the street (which will remain nameless since i dont want to be accused of being a shill). Wait staff knows its menu, the wait to seat is more reasonable than the new place, and the eibs are just better. Perhaps its because i like the sports bar idea, bit the televisions placed throughout the main two dining areas add to the friendly, down home feeling. It's predictably good food and it's doubtful anyone with reasonable expectations will not find a menu item that will satisfy their tastes. The portions are generous. The sides can be a bit pricy if you order anything other than their standard side dishes. But, you're there presumably to enjoy a nice meal so no sense nitpicking. I've eaten here several times in the past but I always seem to forget this place exists. Like I said, it's not the best but it's far from the worst. I guess that's way it's not very memorable. Went to Smokey Bones in Melbourne. I was underwhelmed, We waited as two other couples got seated. The manager then tells the Hostess that he is "working on the wheelchair table." While I am right there As if that was not enough he walks up later and says ..."Sorry for the wait but we have no tables" The whole place was predominantly booths which is fine but at least keep a table open. Mi fiancée and I went here for dinner and were thrilled with our service! Seated promptly, served promptly, and they really went the extra mile to make sure we got what we wanted. I had the ribs (both St. Louis and baby back style) and was very pleased. I think I liked the St. Louis style better but both were good. I tried a few of their sauces they keep ready on the table for you and would have to say the mustard sauce was fantastic, not that the ribs really needed it. My fiancée got the petit sirloin with garlic butter and it was tender and delicious! Our side items were good too, although I liked the cornbread appetizer more than she did. Sat for 10 minutes without anyone coming to serve us with NO crowd and finally had to go find someone to take drink orders. We were told that section was closed and we shouldnt have been sat there) Appetizer delivered and NO silverware on the table and no server so went and got our own silverware and napkins from the hostess stand. Then the food came and it was really really poor. Literally the driest chicken I have ever eaten. Told the server the chicken was dry and he said that it kind of had to be "recovered" by putting a lot of bar b que sauce on it but never offered to take it off the bill even though I ate 2 bites. There is a reason you can buy $50 gift cards for this place at Sams for $35 and there are constant discount coupons floating around. Holy S#%^ this place is awesome ! I got the combo ribs and brisket with the Mac n Cheese and it's the best bbq I think I've ever had! The sauces are good ( I recommend the green top it's sweet ) the ribs are so tender and juicy and by far the best I've had. Even the brisket was awesome as well and I'm a brisket fan. So if your on new haven in Melbourne and can't decide what to eat , skip all the usual places and eat at smoky bones FYI if you are a mac n Cheese fan get the premium Mac n cheese with your meal. I had been to one in NH years ago but was I surprised. Wife and I visited fl for the weekend and we are both glad she chose this place. Great atmosphere, seated quickly, waitress was extremely friendly but not overbearing. We started with the mixed drinks and were bit disappointed, all 4 we had were very well mixed with enough alcohol to taste but not overdo. We chose the smoked wings with chipotle sauce to start. Very well done. We both got the combos to try the brisket, steak, chicken and pork... All were well seasoned and hearty portions, they have a great deal similar to a pupu platter with a variety of meats to feed anywhere from 2 to 6 ppl. We will most certainly make this a regular visit back here in nc and hope it lives up to this visit down there. read more

Last time I was there I ordered the smoked sausage and chicken breast combo $15.99. Two sausage links and the tiniest, microscopic chicken breast I ever saw or could conceive of. If this 2 inch piece was a breast, that chicken must of had 1" wings. I complained and was advised that the Chef said they had a new chicken vendor. I said it was impossible for a chicken to have a breast that small and thin, 1/4". I was offered a second one and accepted. The second one was just as tiny and thin. So I took the second one home and weighed on my digital food scale. It was exactly 2.2 ounces. That entire chicken could have only been the size of a pigeon. So I hope they read this. The customers notice and notice in a negative way. Other times I was there, I got a normal, average 6 to 8 .oz chicken breast. Can't say I will go back. PS. I can safely say that I'm a fan of good BBQ. I took my lady there for dinner a couple of weeks ago, she is not a fan of BBQ so I felt lucky that she agreed to go there that evening. BTW it says on this web site that the restaurant is closed, true that a bunch of Smokey Bones restaurants closed a couple of years ago, but there are a few left and appear to be doing very well. The one I visited is in front of the Melbourne Square Mall on HW192 in Melbourne Florida. The parking was tight, there were very few spots available, for it being a Wednesday evening the restaurant was quite full. We were seated quickly in a booth, mortar from the bar. The interior gave me the appearance that they were going for a polished lodge/sports bar with a multiple amounts of television screens. The restaurant was clean and the lighting was just right. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu, and was patient with me and my guest as our choices were grand. My date was surprised that there were many choices on the menu for non BBQ people, and I surprisingly chose chicken wings and some loaded fries (I know, two side dishes). My date picked the chicken Caesar salad and requested that they made her chicken blackened with the Cajun seasoning and they graciously granted her request. It seemed to take longer than usual for our food to come out but when it did it was really delicious, full of flavor. The fire stix which are fries seasoned and smothered in melted cheeses, chipotle mayo, BBQ sauce glaze, bacon and diced green onions and tomatoes, is amazing when served hot. When I got mine, they were barely warm, but the server replaced it for me. The drinks were good, and the atmosphere continued to be light and kind of happy. I will return when I get in the mood for a good variety again. The price of the food seemed to be similar along the lines of other popular chains such as Outback and Bono's BBQ, (but I'll never return to Outback ~but that's another review). I would place my stamp of approval, and thinking back to the many times I've eaten there, I've never had a bad meal there. Would definitely recommend, there's something for everyone. read more

This place has really gone downhill in the last year. This used to always be one of my favorite places to go when we were in the Melbourne area. This past year, the food has changed and is not nearly as good as it used to be and the service was dreadful. The turkey which used to be delicious was nothing but hunks of fat on my plate... It looked like they gave me the chewed up remnants from somebody else's plate... The pretzel bones used to come with a variety of dipping options and now come just with the cheese sauce.... Another disappointment. The service is another issue entirely. The four times we've been there so far this summer, the service has been awful. Was craving some BBQ and new to the area so my wife and I decided to try this place out. We sat at the bar and wasn't impressed with the customer service or the food. We went maybe an hour after they opened so there wasn't a lot of customers just yet. The bar tender didn't have much customer service skills. My beer and wife's soda was flat but the bar tender didn't check on us so we didn't get a chance to tell her. The food wasn't that good, probably could have microwaved some ribs that tasted better than what we got. Ribs tasted like they were old and our food was cold. Does no one realize that all that "yummy" bbq pulled pork comes to them frozen? If you didnt know or dont believe me get them to cater an event for you, we did it at my old job and we received sealed frozen bags of pulled pork with microwave or oven instructions and bags of bbq sauce and bags of rolls that I could have gotten at sam's. so yeah nothing is all that fresh there. you pay good money for "fresh" food but unless they've suddenly invested some money in pit masters at each location, your foods coming of the grill fresh from whatever massive cooking facility they use. be wary of chain restaurants ideas on fresh. read more
