I'm guessing there's a reason the other locations closed and based on the food here on a Sunday afternoon, this place won't be around much longer. Dry Dry Dry, Dry and I'm not giving it 3 German Stars. Dry Ribs, Dry Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage, Dry Pulled Pork, and Dry Turkey. That's 4 of the 4 meats our table ordered and it wasn't good. The Mac N Cheese was delicious though! And I liked the variety of sauces, which were needed to make the meat edible. Service was good, the beer was cold (Funky Buddha Floridian on Draft), but it's no longer on my radar for BBQ. If I want ribs, I'm going to Cheddar's or Miller's. Honestly, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish. For the high prices, I expected way better quality and service. The restaurant was nearly empty--maybe two other parties there--so there was absolutely no reason for the service to be so slow and inattentive. Our server was barely present, and it felt like we were just left to fend for ourselves. The food took almost an hour to come out, which is unacceptable when the place is basically dead. When it finally arrived, the sausages I ordered tasted like they were rinsed in dishwater. I ended up sending them back and switching to wings, which were at least decent, but by then the mood was already off. We ordered two desserts, only to find out after they brought them that they were out of ice cream--something they didn't bother to tell us. They comped the desserts, but still, the lack of communication was frustrating. Also- the manager told us the build your own bowls were 7.99 and the server said 12.99 and then we got charged the 12.99 so lots of miscommunication here. This place was open on a Thanksgiving Day which is a huge place and definitely we are grateful we found a place to eat. We've ordered 1/2 bbq chicken, Texas style bbq and pulled pork sandwich. I rated 4 stars because I had a great experience here with the staff and the food seemed to be a great value, but it is probably realistically a 3.5 star place overall. The expectations are set accordingly, as it's a chain restaurant that leans towards BBQ fare so nothing overly special. There was lots of seating available for a Saturday evening around 9pm and the Televisions appear to be scattered throughout but focused largely around the bar area. We decided to give it another try (hadn't been back in years) after Duffys failed to make a great first impression and we were attempting to watch some college football. The staff went above and beyond to help get the game we wanted to see on the tv closest to us and were pretty attentive and provided great recommendations. They do have late night happy hour specials which we took advantage of and we were impressed with the overall value. We got the pretzel bones, the pulled pork sandwich, boneless wings, skillet nachos, and donuts. I really enjoyed the skillet nachos or mini magnachos, although a little difficult to eat and slightly messy but I thought the flavor was great! I didn't care for the boneless wings, they were just ok and glad I didn't pay complete full price for them... I do highly recommend not passing up their donuts! So yummy! The miss for me: I wasn't crazy about them serving the cheese for the pretzel bones in a plastic container as it seemed to be melting the plastic and obviously introduces micro plastic into the food... I came here for the first time with a friend because she wanted barbecue. I was happy to see that there were several gluten free options available. I ordered the pulled pork BBQ platter which came with two sides. I got the fries and the mashed potatoes. It was pretty good and I had leftovers. I also got a Tito's strawberry lemonade which the bartender helped me confirm was gluten free once we looked at the labels. July 4th. Did not expect much to be open but they were. We decided instead of cooking we would have BBQ out. Happy we did. They have a new Fire Table Top Mixed Grill. There is an option for 2,3 or 4 people. We chose the 3 as we had 3 people. We could have gotten away with the 2 as there was so much food we ended taking some home. We had the crispiest wings, tender ribs, juicy grilled chicken, sausage, beef, grilled vegetables and crispy potatoes. ( I know the crispy items were deep fried but I chose to be in bliss). Every single item was cook perfectly. Tender, juicy and grilled. It came out on a small grill like a camp fire. Everything was hot and the presentation made us feel like we were glamping. (Yes glamping, camping with a comfortable bed and air condition). All items tasted as they should and different. Chicken like grilled chicken. Steak like steak and the succulent well sauced yumminess RIBS! The sauce they give separate from the bottles on the table was a little peppery and thus had a little bite to it. It was stupendous and wish I had a bottle to take home. The place had a few people about 1/2 full as expected for a holiday. The place was also very clean. With it being a small crowd it was not hard to have a conversation. My only issue was the extremely long time to get service. Very nice professional young lady but it took for ever for food, drinks, doughnuts (OMG Brown sugar warm doughnuts and raspberry sauce to dip them in) and the bill. This is my favorite restaurant to go to when I'm craving bbq. I religiously get the 1/2 bbq chicken every time I go so I highly recommend getting that, they also have a special on Tuesday's! I have tried this particular Smokey Bones multiple times and the almost 20 years that I have lived in Orlando, Florida. Each time I have gone back has been for the sole reason of giving them another chance. It is not that I have ever received horrible service oh, got sick on the food or anything like that. I guess ultimately it is because the food is substandard. It is simply not very good. The ambiance and here is nice enough. It is never overly busy, probably because it is not very good, and they are open a bit later than other places. These are the only good thing about this establishment. Barbecue should and could be an amazing thing. Smoke does some incredible things to meat and yet Smokey Bones continuously misses the mark. It has been a while, but they used to send coupons quite a bit that were very good deals. It was these coupons they gave me the inspiration to give them another chance. I wish this place was better, as it is so convenient to my house. I wish we had better barbecue on the eastside of Orlando. Over here on my side of town we have a few chain barbecue establishment, Smokey Bones being one of them. We used to have a Bubbalou's by ear, but they have since closed. Sad news for us. It gets worse every time you go. Service is awful. Our poor server was visibly overwhelmed, though not quite sure why since she seemed to only be working three tables. Would disappear for hours and forget orders and drinks. It would take about 15 minutes to get each of our drinks. We flagged the manager for help at one point and he said "let me go get your server." Too bad, because my wings were great and the spicy garlic sauce was one of the best around. The only reason for the 2nd star. Don't go. Came to Smokey Bones to get some decent BBQ and that is what we got. On top of that we scored an excellent weekly BOGO deal which made the stop totally worth it. The pulled pork was meaty and smoky and paired well with one of the four sauces, each with a different flavor profile ranging from spicy sweet to vinegary tart. Their mustard sauce is also pretty good. The sides I tried were the BBQ baked beans and the coleslaw. The beans were good and the coleslaw was absolutely divine - cool and creamy with caraway seeds for an extra layer of flavor. The platter also came with two grilled halves of garlic bread which was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. I also ordered a Maple Old Fashioned with my meal and what I got from the bar was probably the most pitiful Old Fashioned I have ever seen. My orange peel was more reminiscent of a flake of gold fish food. At almost $10 a glass, I expected presentation and execution to be a lot better. Service was pretty good. There were not too many people at the restaurant so our server was able to check up on us often.
