Met up with friends for a casual dinner at the Oveido Sonny's. Two of us ordered a 2 Meat Combo with St Louis Ribs and Chicken. The ribs were great, fell right off the bone! The chicken was a bit dry, but with some bbq sauce it was decent. The other person in our party ordered a Bowl and said it was delish. We also ordered the Cherry Pie Eggrolls to share for dessert. We all agreed these were good but overly sweet. Also insanely messy. They were out of Coke Zero which was disappointing so I settled for a Diet Coke. Later I ordered a beer off the visible tap and was told the tap was broken, so settled for a bottle and a frosted glass. I noticed they did a LOT of DoorDash/Uber eats. Please do yourself a favor and visit Mission BBQ instead if you're in Oviedo. With the price you're paying at Sonny's, you're better off having more juicy and flavorful meats at Mission. I've had the pulled pork and brisket here and they were both dry and flavorless. The BBQ sauce was also lacking and nothing memorable to write home about. Sonny's definitely runs itself as a chain and lacks the rich flavors of high-quality BBQ. Regardless of my experience, the service was very good and our food came out very fast. Let me break down my afternoon visit to Sonny's BBQ. While it's not my first time, I think it will be my last. I want to first acknowledge the good: customer service is top tier. The wait staff is attentive, funny, and take their jobs seriously. I felt welcomed and cared for from the moment I walked in. I observed them own up to mistakes at other tables, make corrections, and even joke with some folks that were regulars. I enjoyed my 'working' lunch observations. The location was clean, with typical BBQ-esque decor, but the bathroom looked like a war zone. Someone must really expect folks to use the bathroom as the toilet paper & paper towel dispensers were overloaded to the point that anything you grabbed came out in tiny tears- the floors were littered in these pieces. The trash cans were overflowing, and the counters/floors were very sticky. I was greeted within a few mins of my arrival, taken to my seat, and my drink order was taken by the host, who was immediately followed by my waitress who went over the menu with me. I loved her and so did everyone else in my section. The food came out in about 25 mins, and all of it except the corn bread muffin was unremarkable. The lean brisket looked like beef jerky and tasted like wall paneling, the ribs were overcooked and tough to separate from the bone, the mac-n-cheese was kinda congealed, and my green beans were cold. I was in a hurry, so I didn't have time to wait for them to fix it, so I ate what I could and left. The BBQ sauce selection is either too sweet, too salty, or too bland. And neither of them paired well with the meats that I chose. The impossibly large lemonade tasted like sugar featuring the thoughts of lemon, and I was glad that I also ordered an impossibly large water. This was my first time visiting this location, and I had a great experience! There was plenty of parking, and for a party of 2, we were seated right away. The inside of the restaurant looked recently renovated and very clean. There was even a bar inside this location. We had top-notch service. Our waitress was extremely attentive, personable, and helpful when ordering. We both ordered a big deal meal. I got the smoked turkey sandwich with the $2 upcharge with extra meat. This is the way to go. I also really enjoyed my Arnold Palmer with the sweet tea and lemonade. Perfect for a hot Sunday afternoon. My food came out very quick and was delicious. The sauces were all fully stocked, and we wanted for nothing while here. We even ordered banana pudding to go that was delicious. I highly recommend this location. read more

We came here yesterday 5/17 for a late Mother's Day lunch. My son in law had half chicken. My daughter and I had the baby back ribs. Mine came with bbq baked beans and coleslaw. Very tasty. The ribs, however, were beyond awesome. And I've had some good ribs. Absolutely perfect. My meal was so good I forgot to order the banana pudding for dessert. Our waiter, Andrew, was very helpful. Our orders also were all taken correctly. I enjoy the pulled chicken Cobb salad. My son really enjoyed the mac and cheese. I would say out of the 2 apps. My fave were the tater tots. We went to Sonny's before a show and as always, the food was fantastic! I have always been impressed with the consistency of the food. Our server was super funny and personable and we were a fairly large party of 8 people. He was prompt in refilling our drinks but the food took quite a bit of time to come out. It did not seem or appear to be terribly busy in the restaurant and we didn't order anything that seemed crazy so not sure why it took so long. This seems pretty consistent when we come here so in the future, we will plan to not eat here before a scheduled event or if we are limited in time. The tots were so tasty, as usual! LUNCH TIME! This is a friend favorite for lunch. We usually don't stray away from our normals but I've been eyeing the bowls and apparently they're leaving forever so this is my chance. We visited this location to celebrate some family birthdays. It looks like the place has been recently remodeled and it looks very nice. The decor is clean and modern and provides a nice ambience. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Two people in our party had all you can eat pork and she came back regularly to offer them additional portions. She also kept our drinks full and the food came out quickly in general. I ordered the sampler which has brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and ribs. The ribs were just okay, nothing special. I didn't care for the chicken at all. It was greasy and lacked flavor; I had to add a lot of sauce to make it palatable. The pulled pork and brisket are decent. I enjoy the Sonny's original BBQ and the sweet BBQ. The Mac and cheese is pretty good also. Overall, Sonny's just doesn't do it for me when it comes to BBQ. Upon pulling into the parking lot, the place didn't look all too busy in the middle of the afternoon between lunch and dinner. I naturally wear a mask at all times (living in the hotspot of COVID-related occurrences, hospitalizations and deaths...yay! Florida!) I noticed nobody in the restaurant was wearing masks, so I naturally assume that your staff weren't made aware that a raging pandemic is currently floating around everywhere in Florida or that you must certainly have a policy of mandating that all workers be inoculated. Khloe (who I naturally assume must be smart enough to know that being inoculated is a good thing) was a joy and a pleasure to talk with while I was ordering. The salad with pulled pork is sweet, juicy and delicious. I happened to find an unlabelled container of sauce on the table, tasted it, and found it to be better than the labelled ones (not sure what was going on there but one would think the franchise could afford to get a container with the same branding information as the rest, but hey...I don't audit your books.) The sweet tea I ordered was just perfect and the Olympics were on the TV in the far corner of the restaurant, so I had something to watch instead of the plethora of people walking in and out of the building without masks, coughing, sneezing, hocking up lung dessert...you know, what normally happens after a good meal. Overall, I gotta say that Sonnys always brings the best barbecue meats to the table in a presentation that has you salivating waiting to dig in. I kinda like the added possibility of danger while I'm eating that I might be exposed to a deadly respiratory virus that has a penchant for mutating and changing into more virulent forms as it jumps from person to person.
