Bbq option A : beef The marinated steak at the very bottom was my fav! Very tender and flavorful

Best kbbq in northern lake county!!! If you're in the area please do NOT pass up the opportunity to support a small, family-owned business and try Hwang Dae Gham! Service: 10/10 the owner was so so so nice. She helped cook the meats we ordered and was very helpful in showing us the traditional way to eat it. She took her time to treat us and serve us well and made our experience here THE BEST! Coming from someone who has tried many different kbbq's throughout the Chicagoland area, no service has ever been as thoughtful and caring as to what I've experienced here. Food: 10/10 Everything down to the banchan is homemade and made with fresh ingredients. Coming to this restaurant felt like having a home cooked meal. We ordered bbq option A - beef which serves 2-4 people. The meat was very tender and flavorful! When paired with the homemade spicy gochujang sauce it was absolutely delicious. Overall, I would consider the quality of the meat to be fairly high compared to the other chain bbq restaurants. We also ordered the steamed dumplings as an appetizer and the Bibim Naengmyeon which were all equally just as good. The bibim naengmyeon definitely hit the spot on a hot day. All in all, we had so much food we had to take home leftovers! From the service we were given, to the quality and flavor of the food itself, I loved this place so much, I would absolutely recommend Hwang Dae Gham to anyone!!

Came here on a Friday night for some Korean bbq! We sat on the right side of the restaurant where the BBQ grills were. It was chilly evening, so it was nice to be by the fire. The staff is this couple ghat has been there forever and they are so very nice. Seafood Pancake: so delicious, packed with filling and perfectly fried. Huge portion. Tteokbuki: so spicy, hurts so good lol. Rice cake were chewy and they give you glass noodles in the middle to soak up that good sauce. Jap Chae: still good from 7 years ago when I visited last. Solid dish and big portions. The meat quality was good but kind of pricey. It was super delicious!

One of the few family-owned authentic Korean restaurants up north. This place was open on Christmas Eve, and had several customers dining in, so thank goodness for somewhere that opens on holidays! Owner speaks English fine but it's a bit challenging to order and communicate, but that's how you know their food is gonna be gooood! Bibimbap-- they use purple rice, pretty typical portion size, but definitely run a bit more expensive $12 than Glenview/Niles area bibimbap $8-10. Bulgogi flavor is lighter than what I'm used to but it's still really good. I can tell it's homemade flavor. Egg is made perfectly, not leathery and still a bit runny in yoke. All the toppings run a bit light on flavor and a bit sweet, but the Gochujang was good, not too sweet so it balanced well. Spicy pork-- I liked the portion size for this one, but it definitely is expensive $18. This one runs sweeter than I'm used to, and not cooked to charred, so it's lightly cooked and if you want to cook it more at home you can. It is pretty spicy, but not gonna kill your guts. It was great with the purple rice. We found the purple rice to be a bit dry, compared to other places we have had but it could be because of ordering on Xmas Eve. Banchan-- were really good. Their homemade kimchi is fresh and crunchy, I love it, and not super aged/sour like store bought. Their other banchan are light on flavor but it's great, I like that they are light. Very fresh and definitely homemade and has unique flavor profile to their own. Overall, I really liked their foods, lighter on flavor profile for all dishes than I'm used to, but it's a unique taste to this restaurant and not a bad thing at all. Definitely high-quality homemade Korean food but is pretty pricy.

I was in Libertyville looking for places to eat, and this place came up in my search for Korean BBQ. I walked in and saw groups at tables with flattop grills, as well as standard tables. I was greeted, seated in a booth and provided a menu. I knew I wanted Kalbi Ribs, but when I saw Fried Chicken wings in the appetizer section, I had to take advantage of getting legit KFC (Korean Fried Chicken), as well! They were delicious! Nicely seasoned, crispy batter and juicy chicken. They were served witj Korean Rice Cakes that I mistook for cheese curds because of their texture and to an extent, their flavor. Paul V. corrected me when he saw my social media post, and I also confirmed with the restaurant that they were rice cakes. Did I mention they were also delicious! I did get my Korean BBQ fix and ordered the Galbi (I've seen spelled as Kalbi on some menus), which are Korean BBQ Ribs! They were served with rice and 6 or 7 other sides, including kimchi! The ribs were served on shredded lettuce seasoned with, I believe, a gochujang sauce. I loved every bite and left super full! I recommend this restaurant and even driving out of your way to go here!

Soooo gooood! Fried chicken marinated with spicy sweet sauce and jae yook so myun is spicy and so delicious! Both are not too spicy, they are just perfect!

Oh my! I've had KBBQ at several restaurants, but this is one of the better ones! The menu has images, which is super helpful, but we always get the same dishes from every restaurant. Our staples- Japchae, bulgogi, galbi, pork belly, steamed egg, chicken wings, tteokbokki. Everything was delicious- I loved the side dishes they start you with, and they offered tea instead of just water! I also appreciate they gave lettuce without even asking for it. Mmm the meats were all good quality and not super fatty (like some places can be). The marination and flavors were so yum. We asked for steamed egg, and they happily made it even though it wasn't on their menu. The staff was so friendly! We'll be back! Sorry, I wish too busy eating to take more photos ;)

This was my first time coming here! I was looking forward to try the duck meat because I love duck and haven't found a good restaurant that has it. We ordered it and the portions are huge! Easily can be shared by 2-4 people. The Galbi was so delicious we had to order a second one. The side dishes were amazing too!! I don't know why I didn't come here before. It's family owned and the owners were so kind to us. I hope to come again soon and I highly recommend it!!

Food is excellent and although there was only one waitress serving about 8 tables with a helper, she still serviced with a smile even though she was extremely busy. Funny story, TsuKasa Japanese restaurant was our original reservation for hibachi grill for 4:30pm and we arrived on time however my elderly parents arrived 18 minutes late and the manager would not seat us although there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The manager had the audacity to say to my wife "if you don't like my service, go somewhere else" Well, we went somewhere else and found this Korean spot which we will surely return.

Hidden gem I've been going to this place for years and I always try something new. My go to is usually kbbq but their Korean chicken is also good. Food: so freaking good. I recommend their Tteokbokki and their galbi. They are generous with their portions and their side dishes is also as good as their food. This tastes like authentic Korean food and I highly recommend. Service: Amazing! I think this is family owned because I see the same people all the time and I see this two married couple that always greet me with a. Big smile. I think they are the owners. They are so nice and very patient. They always greet me with a smile when coming in. Their service is honestly 5 stars and I can't recommend this enough to people. Aesthetic: It is a very typical Korean restaurant. This is a good place to eat food food and receive great service. Their food looks very appetizing and they taste super good. I highly recommend. Overall, I highly recommend this place. If you want to have good food and great service, this is the place to be. Can't recommend this place enough.

Second, what a cool building (see my pic!) Great views of the pond and waterfall, if that's your thing. Bridge, pond, patio and landscaping are nice. And that's just the outside. Inside, find multiple sports TVs, and a well-stocked illuminated bar, also with TVs. I found the tables well stocked with six kinds of sauces if you want to season your meal. But the bar, sauces and TVs don't dominate. The food does. At first I thought the menu was pricey. BUT for $13 you can get just the BBQ meat-- I decided to try the BBQ pulled pork. For $17 you can get two sides along with that and it's a platter. I needed me some sides, so I ordered the platter. I chose Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese and the bacon and brussel sprouts. When I received my meal: Mind. Blown. The pulled pork portion is easily at least a pound of meat or possibly more. No joke. The sides were easily 1 lb. of food each. Brussels sprouts BBQ'd to perfection with a generous supply bacon mixed in. On the Gouda Mac & Cheese side, I appreciated that instead of the boring mac & cheese noodles, they used cavatappi pasta. Nice touch! MMMmmm on my entire meal!!! If you want leftovers, it's totally possible. Or come here hungry. Try out the hidden gem, because it's great! This really needs to be addressed. It wasn't just the one I killed. Now for the food. We got the three meat combo with brisket, burnt ends, and pulled pork. The brisket was really good. It was on the dry side but it was still very good. It didn't have much smoke flavor. The burnt ends were just ok. There was no smoke taste to them and they kind of just fell apart when you picked them up with your fork. The pulled pork had a nice smoke ring on some of the outer pieces we got. This had more smoke flavor than the brisket and the burnt ends. This was very good. For sides, we got the coleslaw and smoked baked beans. The coleslaw I think is just a food service already prepared coleslaw. My bet, it wasn't made in house. Although it was still good. The smoked baked beans, they are made with what I can tell are three different kinds of beans, maybe a little brisket or pulled pork, and the sauce tastes like their original barbecue sauce. Now I liked them, but again, I don't taste any smoke. The restaurant is really cool. It's decorated with a lot of bbq memorabilia. Besides the gnats, it is really clean. Bottom line is, I'm hoping this was just kind of an off day for them. The food was really good with the potential of being great. In my opinion, the meat needs to have more natural smoke flavor. That's what bbq is all about. We will stop by again when we are in the area. We will definitely try it again.

I had my wings soon after pick-up while they were hot and fresh. The wings looked super delicious and tasted as such as well. They were saucy, crispy, and meaty.
