There's a certain kind of warmth that can't be faked. The kind you feel when someone sets a table not just with food but with care. That's what Blue House Korean BBQ feels like. It reminded me of visiting Oma--not my own, but the kind of grandmother you borrow through shared meals. The air is thick with the scent of char and spice, the tables alive with the sound of sizzling meat and quiet joy. We sat down and didn't say much at first. Just smiles, nods, and the quiet hum of anticipation. We ordered what felt like everything: smoky marinated BBQ, kimchi jjigae bubbling like a love letter in a bowl, crispy-edged kimchi pancakes, and stir-fried squid with rice cakes that was equal parts fire and comfort. Each bite felt like a memory I didn't know I had. The kind of food that lingers, on your tongue, in your thoughts, in the steam that fogs your glasses a little. Blue House isn't about presentation or performance. It's about presence. About feeding people well and making sure they leave full, happy, and maybe just a little more loved. Come here hungry. Come here tired. Come here with someone who knows your stories or wants to learn them. This place isn't just a restaurant. It's a little pocket of warmth in Mundelein that reminds you what it means to be fed, really fed. Five stars and a piece of my heart left behind on a grilled lettuce wrap

We came out here to eat as a family. It's nice that you can reserve the seating. You click a button on the wall to get server to come take your order. The service was pretty fast, and foods were well prepared and presented. Flavors were all pretty good, not overly salty and is on the sweeter side but not overwhelming. We ordered Dukmandu Guk again, but unfortunately the younger two did not like the mandu fillings, but it was pretty tasty for grownups, as it was a lot of veggies. The rice cakes were nice too, not overly cooked and not undercooked either. The broth was good, it was clear enough that the kids were able to drink some. Probably would've been better if we ordered fried mandu instead. We tried the Dakbulgogi this time and the meat cuts were tender because of the dark meat, and the veggies were caramelized so it's soft and sweet. Overall flavor and texture were all really good. Kids liked eating the chicken with white rice. Banchan were also good. Light and refreshing. I liked that the flavors aren't overpowering. The kimchi was on the more sour/heavily fermented side so not as crunchy or refreshing. The fish cake were drier but pretty strong flavored compared to other place, but not in a bad way. The other vegetable banchan were lightly flavored and very refreshing. Not the cheapest place (price went up by a dollar or so for everything since my past review) but foods made well. Would definitely come back.

haven't even finished eating yet but had to run here to make this review. i just moved here from california (the bay) which arguably has the best korean food in the US. i tried one other korean restaurant close to the northern suburbs and it just didn't hit the same. i decided to order off of uber eats yukgaejang and asked if they could make it really really spicy. i'm not sure if they accommodated my request or if this is the normal flavor, but it's actually very good! i didn't have high hopes for illinois korean food, but im pleasantly surprised. they also included a side of rice. i know this is normal for the dish, but the description didn't mention it and since this was delivery, i thought id be jipped. they also included some banchan!! this place was great for yukgaejang and i highly recommend!!

We found Blue House Korean BBQ while searching for a different k-bbq place to try in the burbs. Our first impression when we entered was a somewhat typical k bbq restaurant, a bit on the smaller side. The restaurant was somewhat busy on the Thursday night. They had one main server taking care of taking the orders and 1-2 runners bringing food and drinks to tables. The system seemed to work for them but it was a little chaotic. We ordered a few different items to try out, unfortunately they didn't have brisket on the menu which is our typical go to order to try the quality and flavor of the restaurant. The food was good, better than average, but we didn't think it was anything special. Nothing about the experience turned us off by any means, but with a number of better options in the north west burbs, we most likely will stick with some of our favorite restaurants like San soo kab san

Went to get some Korean food with some amazing friends. To eat. To catch up on life. This place was BUSY. So glad Judy thought to make reservations. The food was good. No better or worse than any other Korean spot. Although our YuKaeJang didn't have any noodles. But they were kind enough to bring us some to add to our bowls. The service was good. The place was clean. There is a lot for parking.

Blue House Korean BBQ is in a strip mall that doesn't have much signage or light. If you weren't looking for it, you could easily drive right past it. I'm glad that we stopped in because this restaurant has some amazing Korean BBQ. My husband and I entered and were asked if we had reservations. We did not and were able to be seated. The restaurant was pretty busy the entire time we were there. I could see why you would want to make reservations. I ordered the Bulgogi (Thinly sliced sirloin. Marinated in a sweet sauce and with a soy sauce base.). This was stewed and not as sweet as I'm used to but it was still good. You could taste the freshness in everything. My husband had the Jaeyook Bokkum (Thinly sliced pork, with vegetables. Marinated in a sweet and spicy sauce.) This dish was very spicy. I tried one bite and couldn't eat any more, but my husband reports that he was very happy with the taste. The meal was served with rice and banchan. The banchan extrtas were very well done, almost as good as the main dish. If you come be sure to use the button at your table to get the servers' attention. This is a family run business and they were busy the entire time. We had good service but don't expect personal attention, you will need to get their attention. I highly recommend Blue House Korean BBQ for excellent Korean BBQ.

This was recommended by a friend, I finally came and tried it out! We ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap, Chapchae and Bulgogi Beef! Both the Chapchae and the Dolsot Bibimbap had very few pieces of beef! The Chapchae was very greasy too, but did have a nice flavor! On the other hand the Dolsot Bibimbap had no flavor and adding the hot sauce that was provided still didn't bring the out the flavor! The Bulgogi Beef was tasty but for the price, I thought it would be a larger portion! The banchan was no big deal, we had six different kinds! Overall the service was just okay and the place was all decorated with fake flowers (not pleasing for the eyes)! I think the server was the owner, service was slow too!

Blue House is a very popular Korean BBQ spot in Mundelein. Diners can choose between cook-your-own Korean BBQ atop tabletop grills, or order a la carte. Our family usually opts for grilling on our own. We ordered the bulgogi, marinated sweet sirloin with cellophane and onions, and mehoon daeji jok galbi, or marinated sweet and spicy pork spare ribs. Each order was in two-people portions, and the foods were more than enough for a group of four. We also ordered a soondubu tofu stew that came with beef and vegetables, but I would have preferred it to have been spicier. Our waiter replenished our banchan side dishes after we finished everything early into our meal.

Oh what a cute Korean BBQ restaurant! It's located in a strip mall so it's easy to find. There's enough parking space. We made a reservation for 5 people on Saturday evening a day in advance. Otherwise there might some wait time. Looked like one staff was running the hall but it was managed better than I thought. We tried pork ribs and bulgogi. They were really tasty. It was bit on the sweeter side but I'll definitely go back again.

The food was amazing. I travel to South Korea 2x per year and I was blown away how good the food and service was. Absolutely blown away. To think I've lived 2 miles from this place the past 12 years. We will be back

Asking for a friend: what are the/are there vegetarian options? Is the soondubu vegetarian-friendly…

sundubu jjigae usually uses anchovie stock. so unless they're a pescatarian, they wouldn't be able to try this dish. can't speak for this restaurants recipe bc idk, but usually there's dashi/anchovie stock

Our party of 5 was seated in one of their both grills right away on a Friday night. We ordered the dolsot bibimbop, the dak bulgogi, fried rice, and bbq A beef sampler. Hwang Dae Gham is located in a non-descript strip mall with some closed store fronts, so plenty of parking. My daughter and I were in town and needed to visit in the Northern suburbs, so afterwards decided to have lunch at a place that had meaning for us. Unfortunately, it was closed on Mondays so chose another Korean restaurant. Hwang Dae Gham ended up a great choice. We came soon after it opened, and it was already busy. It is a family owned business, and they obviously take great pride in their food and service. We had a chance to eat a lot of their non-BBQ offerings, and every one of them was excellent. Started with two appetizer portions: mul-mandu (small, bite-size steamed dumplings...supposed to be only pork but I swear I tasted seafood/fish in it...very good...reminded me of eating pelmini in it's size and density); the other was a small portion of japchae which we devoured...usually not a fan of this style of Korean mung-bean noodles, but really enjoyed it. We got two entrees (didn't share for once, so each got what we wanted). I got the squid bibim-bap (mixed rice in a stone bowl)...it's important to look at the pictures, cause it clearly explains the difference between the normal bibim-bap. They basically put a large portion of the squid-bokum, on top of rice...missing the normal cold greens. It was different, and I loved it. It was served with the requisite gochujang sauce, but you don't need it. It's already pre-seasoned. My daughter got the Gamja-Tang (spicy soup with potato and pork neck), and she really enjoyed it....like most Korean hot soups, great for a chilly February Chicago day. All of it comes with side dishes and purple rice. We especially liked the sweet glazed potatoes, picked cucumbers, and sliced mung bean pancake. Service was very warm and consistent throughout. It was just a beautiful opportunity to have a great meal and spend a lot of time with my adult daughter, reminiscing about the past and planning for the future. The entire Hwang Dae Gham environment was very conducive to that. I really wish I had two stomachs so I could sample the other dishes on the menu...all of it looked so good. We ended up bringing home most of the entrees, and it was delicious re-heated. Really inspires me to explore K-Town more when I get home.
