Who has better pizza in Renton: Smoking Monkey or The Rock at The Landing? Smoking Monkey, hands down! Parking was a little confusing. I drove through an alley way thinking I could park in the back of the building. Restriction warnings and towing company signs were everywhere so I ended up in a 2-hour free parking lot right off of 3rd & Burnett. I went during off hours so I knew I would get my pizza pretty quick. While I waited I went outside to take a picture of the storefront and walked around the Renton Transit Center. By the time I came back, my pizza was ready and I took it to go. I was really surprised how good the Margherita pizza tasted. The only thing which irked me is they use Caffé Umbria (bad employees) but since they also use Gelatiamo (great employees), they are forgiven. read more

I came here for the first time today and I order the half Deep Fry Cauliflower and a 12 inch veggie-meister pizza ( I added Jalapeños Bc I like things spicy). The cauliflower was AMAZING!!! I don't know what kind of sauce came with it but that was to die for. The pizza was really good as well. Everything was freshly prepared and piping hot when I got it. First Time. Got a small Barbarian. It was dry, needed more sauce, could hardly find any provolone cheese on it except a couple small spots. Did have a lot of dry brown Parmesan on top, Cheese is what makes a pizza. This place didn't hold up to all the good reviews. Extremely over priced at $22 for what I got/quality. Smoking Monkey has never disappointed me. A great selection of pizzas that are done well. We ended up getting a vegetarian pie and a small pepperoni slice for our daughter. Crust was delicious with the sauce and toppings were at the right ratios and cooked perfectly. I always get the fried cauliflower for an appetizer. They are fantastic! I loved the pizza! We ordered the regular pepperoni if you love pepperoni this is for youuu. Personally I don't like that much pepperoni because it does create grease. But using a napkin to absorb it worked! Also the Alfredo was really good. read more

The food was great - pizza was hot and the cauliflower was a great start to our meal. Beer selection was simple - but our beers were served cold. We showed up right between two large groups. The wait staff seemed a little frazzled - but they all were wonderful and kind. One even gave my daughter crayons and a picture to color through the bustle. I've been to Smoking Monkey several times and they just keep getting better! The fried cauliflower is now considered a must in my book - sooooo good! The vegetarian pizza has improved over time to the point it's almost perfect. Who puts potatoes on a pizza?! Smoking Monkey, that's who. Been going here the past few years. This last visit the pizza was completely different. The cheese pizza was hardly a cheese pizza. There was probably 1/4 the amount of cheese in the pizza. It was more like pizza dough with sauce. I am not sure if this is owned by the same people or what not. read more

Stopped in at lunchtime with a friend and shared a pear salad, crispy cauliflower bites, pepperoni & a Dr Beverly pizza, with hard pear ciders. Dang, it was good. Staff was super nice. Yes, 5 star pizza place. Delancey used to be #1, Rocco's, Big Mario's, Tutta Bella, and Car Cotto were all in my top 5. Now you know what kind of pizza I like, you know Smoking Monkey Pizza has to be good. Yes, you have to get out of Seattle for it but that's a gift. Parking is easy, it's not crazy busy, and it doesn't have those typical Seattle prices. Pizza's come in 3 sizes. I suggest 2 medium and you'll have leftovers but get to try 2 flavors. Generous on the toppings, thin delicious crust, excellent service. They use those smaller delicious pepperoni's and all sorts of quality ingredients. They actually gave us the wrong pizza and gave it to us anyways and put the correct pizza on the fly. They have a video game, star trek, sort of nerd theme going on which is fun. Get jo A$$ out of Seattle and Bellevue and come down to Smoking Monkey. The only wish I have for the restaurant is have the posters only cover the top half of the windows. You need that natural light so people can advertise for you on social media with their pizza pictures! read more

I would however recommend that they dumb down the menu a bit tho.. it was a pain in the butt to keep asking what is this over and over to our server.. they charge for each lemonade refill which sucks but they are good and they are a small place and they are hand made I feel it is ok at this point.. parking is tough there is a big dirt lot behind them tho that you can park in for free..well i did not see any signs anyways and i parked there with no tickets or being towed. all in all i say hit this place and give it a run.. it might be your fav pizza place but it wont be bad either. read more

I dropped this joint a couple years ago due to the pie being like a frozen pizza. I warily picked up a slice a couple months ago to give it a try and was surprised at how good it was. I then got a couple full pies that were good. Then the last two were going back to lousy. The latest I believe must have been under the lights for an hour even though I ordered it fresh. What a great find! I have been vacillating over stopping at this place for a while now, but usually when I do pizza it's a delivery type situation. I'll tell you right now, this is a pizza you want to enjoy on the premises. It reminds me of the pizzas I enjoyed in Europe. We started off with the deep fried cauliflower appetizer which was a good choice! Being indecisive about what to try, we asked our server if we could try two sauce bases on the same pizza and to my surprise she said no problem! So we went with the DTR on one half which was olive base with pears and prosciutto with a nice blend of cheeses. The other half was the Norton with the small pepperonis one reviewer complained about. REALLY? They were delicious and nice to have pepperoni in almost every bite. Finished up with some delicious gelato, some salted caramel and some chocolate. Prices reflect quality, and this place has quality, but no unreasonable. For two of us splitting a 16" pizza, an appetizer and dessert, dinner was under $40 and some to take home. I always order from here off of doordash. It can be hit or miss- probably depending on who is cooking or something. Buuuuut overall this place is pretty good. My daughter loves the pizza (not my fav)... and I love the cauliflower. Like. Love love. Not like. Or luv. The sauce that comes with it makes me smile for hours and makes me eat way too much. My wife and I ordered two pizzas from here. Thee pizzas were okay but nothing that convinced us this was the go-to place. We found the flavors decent, serving size super small, and the price grossly over inflated.
