This is the first Boy and The Bear location I went to about ten years ago and I had their cold brew, by far the strongest and one of the best cold brews I've ever had. My favorite color is black so the vibe of the store is cool and there's a lot of green plants that really complement the color. Great place to study by the beach and enjoy a nice cold brew. read more

Brought a friend to this location because she'd never been to a coffee shop that was painted all black and wanted to check out the vibe. Not too busy on a Sunday mid morning and we were able to order right away. My friend ordered an Americano iced with a splash of milk and I ordered a salted caramel latte with oatmilk. I did ask for a little more caramel because the last time I ordered it wasn't sweet enough for me. We sat at the bar top overlooking the street and it was a beautiful day to sit and sip some coffees. You can smell the rich coffee aroma as you're walking up the street, such a perfect welcome. They had a variety of pastries that looked so tempting, but I stayed strong this time. I went with the vanilla latte, and wow... so good. They make their vanilla in-house, and you can taste the difference. My boyfriend got the caramel latte and that one was delicious too. Best coffee in town!! Baristas are always super knowledgeable and friendly and make the best pour overs. Try the coffee black for optimal enjoyment and to get the best flavor profile. Sometimes the roast can be pricey but SO worth it and see the pic of the explanation if you're curious why! Comes with a beaker to refill your cup and some ground coffee for an aromatic experience to accompany your coffee tasting. There is one bathroom inside if needed, but mostly street parking which can be tricky depending on time of day but if you're willing to walk 1-2 blocks you'll be fine. Enjoy!! Came here because I heard they were some of the best coffee in Torrance/Redondo Beach area. Really enjoyed my cup here, and think it does have some of the better coffee in the area so if you love espresso definitely check this place out! I would put it in the "Great" coffee category. If you live in the area or are visiting, definitely add it to your worth trying list. This place has been around for a while, and my friend who lives nearby also regards this place pretty highly, so I'm hoping they continue to see tons of success! Was driving home and decided to make a stop to have a drink while I sit in traffic and came across this coffee spot! I found parking luckily near the entrance. I was immediately greeted and helped! I was a bit nervous because I got there 40 minutes before closing so I expected the baristas to be tired and ready to go home haha. That wasn't the case at all, they were very friendly! As for the items I got, I tried the ham and cheese croissant and I didn't know it had some time of green pepper(?) or veggie. It wasn't bad, it gave it a nice crunch! And the matcha was perfect! So many places over sweeten the drink when matcha was never supposed to be sweet. It was a perfect balance with the vanilla syrup that I added. I have always wanted to come here and so happy we finally stopped by. Street parking can fill up pretty quick on weekend mornings since it is in the heart of a beach city. Our cashier/barista, was pretty cool and chatted us up. She was able to recommend us on the most popular drinks and since she built trust, we went with her word. Boy, was she right, our selections were delicious (Latte and Americano). Plus, they use beans from Colombia, which was a plus. Inside the coffee shop, there was plenty of seating available (inside and outside), especially for bigger groups. The shop was clean and had a strong coffee aroma, which was my favorite. It had a relaxing and carefree zone for anyone looking to enjoy a great coffee in the morning, or for remote work. This is honestly one of my favorite coffee shops, and I've been coming here for a long time. I love the espresso, the sparkling water, the little piece of chocolate, and the way everything is always served. Sitting down and enjoying my coffee here has always been part of the experience. Unfortunately, today was completely different. Nobody even asked if my order was for here or to go. My espresso was handed to me in a paper cup, which completely ruined the experience. I would never choose to drink an espresso from a paper cup if I'm staying at the café. It may seem like a small detail, but those details are exactly what made me love this place. Today, that one paper cup completely ruined my visit. The service was great and fast. My girl and I came for my birthday weekend to kick things off. They had no food to serve so we went straight to the Tea; literally. She got the Bergamot Rose and I got the white peach. Needless to say, my girl found her new herbal tea and my tea was delicious as well. They steep the tea in their own tea bags which means they get premium tea and it also helps that the bag is big which enhances the flavor tremendously. We ended up picking up the same type of Tea elsewhere but it wasn't even close. It reminded me of the Lemon Chiffon Tea we got at a tea service spot. Needless to say, we will be returning. I think the total was $11, which felt pretty overpriced, since a super fancy Starbucks drink costs 7 to 8 dollars. I ended up bringing my drink back over, and asked if there is something else that they could do. The barista (I think his name was Pierce?) was super kind about it and made me an oat milk vanilla iced latte, which was great. While the barista was friendly, given the overpriced nature of the drinks, and the fact that the specialty drinks didn't really wow me, I don't think I would return. I did see that this place offers, coffee workshop classes, which is a cool concept. Pretty pricey, but creative. There's some good seating in this café, and mostly seem to be for people who are working on their laptops. Came here on Father's Day afternoon at 15:45 from Arcadia and needed strong coffee STAT! We were on or way to a concert at the Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach and stopped here for caffeine. The coffee shop is super cute and the coffee is really good. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and I ordered a honey espresso for my sister who wasn't with us at the time. When they brought her drink out I just drank it for myself and ordered her a latte because that order came in a small dixie cup. I will say. the honey espresso was CLEAN! The flavors were bright, fruity, chocolate and not bitter at all. I enjoyed my latte and would recommend this over Starbucks. The employees were really nice too! I thought they would be annoyed that we strolled in 15 minutes before closing but one of the employees with the blonde shaved head with spots on it was genuinely nice and helped us find the performing arts center and he was also, not from the area, LOL! We never really visit Redondo Beach, but now I know where to go for good coffee in this town or even if I'm in the town over, I'd make a stop here just for the coffee, but also because the employees are really cool. read more

Came here after my run on a Saturday morning around 8 am and there were already a good amount of people sitting and enjoying their morning coffees. Interior was giving a dark minimalistic, sophisticated vibe with a very chill atmosphere. I got an iced chai latte and pistachio croissant which ended up being almost $13, which is pretty much the norm for cafes nowadays so that was no surprise. Unfortunately, I did expect more from this cafe though. First, I was expecting the typical warm spices and a balance of sweet and spicy when it came to my chai but it just tasted like straight milk as the lightness in the picture even shows. As for the pastry, my pistachio croissant was really good - croissant was buttery, crisp, and flaky however the pistachio filling to croissant ratio was just not it so that was disappointing too!
