I absolutely love the environment inside the restaurant. I love that it's not overly bright but light enough to see everything. I always breathe easier with all the green plants and it feels peaceful being surrounded by so many of them. I had to kill some time while waiting for my daughter who lives in Playa Del Oro, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to relax and treat myself to a teddy bear latte - upgraded to large and with oat milk. I also got the chia-misu pudding for a special treat and also with protein. Both of them were exactly what I wanted. They hit the mark, they had layered flavors and I love the different textures of the chia-misu - which did taste a lot like tiramisu. The total came to $24.30 for these two items (I did add a tip), which is more than I usually spend on coffee and a snack. To be honest, it surprised me. I truly appreciate the owner responding so quickly and explaining everything - it cleared up my confusion. In the end, it was worth it. I've lived in Playa del Rey for nearly a decade and have passed by this corner seriously countless times and I watched it change names more than once. But somehow I never stepped inside until last week when a friend and I decided to finally walk over for coffee. And wow... I should've checked it out so much sooner! Long story short, Point Lume completely exceeded my expectations. It's a charming, inviting cafe with a modern aesthetic with plenty of tables to sit and sip. The space seems to be pretty thoughtfully designed with beautiful greenery (plants always elevate the vibe for me), and convenient access to outlets which is so perfect if you're looking for a chill spot to work or study. I ordered a hot matcha latte (of course I did)...it was smooth, well-balanced, and made just right. My friend also loved her drink (iced) and we ended up hanging out in the cool air conditioning and enjoying a leisurely break before walking back home. The menu offers a lot of variety with both drink and food options, extending beyond a grab-and-go coffee shop. The staff was welcoming, and service was quick and friendly. As others have noted, Point Lume is also conveniently located near LAX which makes it a great stop if you are waiting to pick someone up or need a quiet spot to decompress before or after a flight. All in all, Point Lume is a great neighborhood cafe that I'm glad I finally explored. Definitely a welcomed addition to Playa and my rotation of coffee shops! I'll definitely be back!! read more

Stopped in to grab a Matcha before hitting the airport. I was pleasantly surprised the flavor profile was really yummy and refreshing, it wasn't overly too sweet. Stopped by here on a Wednesday morning to kill time before an appointment. It's located right on the corner and easy to find. We parked for free in the garage around the corner. We both ordered Americanos and the coffee was delicious. I liked the vibe of this coffee shop; it was painted dark inside, with hanging plants, but sunlight coming in from the front windows. It wasn't crowded and there was good music playing, but we could still hear each other. The baristas were efficient and chill. Pastries up front that looked good as well. This is a great place to work, study, or just relax near LAX. There is a lot of tables to sit at and plenty of outlets to charge your devices. They even have some regular USB and USB-C outlets! There are large floor to ceiling windows that face the street, which is really nice because it brings in a good amount of light and gives a nice street view. I got one of their seasonal drinks, the TeddyBear Latte (Iced), which was a good level of sweetness with honey and brown sugar. The staff was very friendly and helpful with their recommendations! Parking was relatively easy to find as well, as there is a large parking structure connected to the cafe and you can park there all day until 11 PM (that's what I was told). read more

This place used to be Proper Coffee, but apparently they had to change the name due to Hotel June being next door and didn't like their "proper name" since that hotel is owned by Proper hotel group. The service was quick and friendly. My go-to is iced black coffee and it was very good and refreshing. The inside had wood decor and green landscaping. We came here and got some coffee and pastries today. The shop is near a college and seems to be tailored towards that crowd. It was alright. There's good parking underground for free. The staff was nice but didn't really seem to know a lot about coffee when I asked what their best coffee was (hoping they had some bean options). They told me people like their vanilla lattes which is fine but I was hoping to talk coffee a bit. I ended up getting the espresso macchiato (not a latte) and my wife got an iced almond milk vanilla latte. The espresso was a classic espresso made with robusta beans (the European type that are more bitter) I personally prefer arabica beans but that's just my preference. The vanilla latte was okay but "tasted like a milkshake" according to my wife. It was very sweet basically. We also got some donut holes which we personally weren't huge fans of. They were obviously not super fresh and the dough was very dense. The lighting in the shop was also very dark for the middle of the day which isn't my preference. Overall if you're looking for a coffee this place will fix you up but it's not anything special. read more

So we start off with the location. It's a stone's throw away from the airport with free parking! That in and of itself deserves five stars however, I digress. Parking was pretty easy but I can see how it would be challenging to find parking during busy hours. I entered the coffee shop and it was clean and smelt delightful. I was greeted by Marcos who had a friendly and professional demeanor. My current go-to is an iced latte with coconut milk and no sweetener. I was excitedd to know that they offer coconut milk as an alternative to whole milk. To find that is very uncommon. Upon hearing my possibly unique concoction, Marcos advised me to try it just to make sure it was something that I liked. I believe he was hinting that they would remake it if I didn't like it which is a nice touch. In very short order I received my coconut milk latte and the first sip was wonderful. The coconut milk tastes of nice quality. The espresso was ideally brewed and tasted great. The coffee is exactly what I get; it's delicious. This coffee is a slam dunk! Went today (1/12/24) with some friends. I got a chai latte and they each got a caramel latte and match latte. I've been here before and gotten pretty good coffee so I don't know what was up today.
