Saw the great rating on yelp and had some time to kill before picking up a friend at LAX. Stopped by and had a pastry and hot chai latte. Both were fantastic. Very friendly staff, really clean shop. Fantastic place to break out the laptop and get a few things complete. If you're in the area you'll want to stop here for sure.
Cute spot, friendly service, kind of expensive, and the music was off. They later turned it on, but dreary vibes at first. Location a little weird. But good drink & pastry selection.
Fantastic cafe with great service and workers who care about the quality of their product & satisfaction of customers. They very accommodating and willing to help new customers get the blend they are looking for. I've been to a few of the Boy and the Bear locations but the one on La Tijera is by far the best. This place is my go to cafe, and will continue to be.
Friendly. I went with Henry (my yorkiepooh), and he was welcome. There is also a nice bench outside on the shade to enjoy your coffee. The restroom is clean and fully stocked. The shop has a very clean vibe. Definitively recommend.
There two lovely ladies who decided to work this thanksgiving morning. I ordered, a hot chocolate. The card reader was acting up and although she had a long line she took her time with us all and was patient. The place is very very clean and the music was excellent. The barista who made my hot chocolate you can tell it was made with love. the staff was diverse which I love. And by far they have had the one of best hot chocolate I have had in Los Angeles or the valley. Thanksgiving can be a drag for those who don't have family to spend with and with all the shops and food places closing.( which is understandable) so I truly appreciate them being open during a holiday.
Since I walked in the door at the first location in Redondo Beach, I was hooked. Back then they were THe Fika Company and the owner changed it to The Boy and the Bear. Soon they started to open new locations throughout LA. I found The Boy and the Bear in Culver City (near my home) and in Westchester off La Tijera. The vibes here are awesome! Came in just before noon and only a few customers and their awesome dogs. Soon it was a full house with lots of action happening behind the bar. They have a great pastry case that empties out fast during the week. I'm not sure if the pastries are in-house or who their bakery is, but its some of the best. Their plain croissant does not fail and the cream cheese danish and chocolate chip cookies are great as well. In addition to the espressos, lattes and cortados, they have a cold-brews and a selection of iced selections as well. I'm a latte guy and on occassion I have a cortado. On this lazy Saturday after a haircut and a car wash, I came in to buy a bag of Dynamic Espresso beans and then decided to stay, enjoy a latte and a danish. Went back to get my laptop and setup shop for a short while. They have a great selection of beans for you home brewers out there. Don't be afraid to ask for advice as the baristas are friendly and knowledgeable about their beans. In addition, they also carry teas, chocolates and swag! For the Westchester location, don't let the lack of street parking deter you, there is parking under the building, for free, and they have plenty of spots available. Come visit, relax and enjoy a latte - and a pastry!
My iced oatmilk latte was good and I love that they have parking spots available in the buildings garage but it was freezing in there. I literally had goosebumps. I sat down for a bit but it got so uncomfortably cold that I ended up leaving.

Delicious matcha with a bit of sweetness. Was close to a work location and was a nice refreshing drink instead of a gas station grab. Worth a try and wasn't overpriced which is always a plus.

A nice sized coffee roaster spot that has a good assortment of seating for anyone who wants to study or just hangout and chill. The barista is friendly and whipped up my drink quickly. I oreded the Latte Sea Salted Caramel and it was smooth and tasty, loved every drop. Will definitely clme back to this spot again if I am in the area.
I don't write reviews often, but TB&TB on La Tijera deserves the best. I found this spot almost 5 years ago now and it has been my personal go-to ever since. It's always our first recommendation to guests (if they don't find it first and make a point to tell *us* about it!) Besides that inviting cozy-clean cafe vibe, this location is speedy, has fantastic pastries, and consistently dials in the best espresso in Westchester. I typically get a decaf quad latte, sometimes with salted caramel, and it's always smooth, rich, and bold. Over the years I've learned that a huge part of this quality comes from the manager, Kai. You can tell how much pride is taken in the hours poured into this shop. The culture of care they've built here shows in every interaction, and each drink that comes across the counter. If you need parking, there are spaces in the garage and street parking just around the corner.

Nice little coffee cafe located off of 405 in a cute neighborhood near LAX. Came on a Sunday noon and easily found street parking. Underground parking is also available. Good pastries selection and simple coffee / tea selection I end up getting the mango sunrise matcha with oat milk (iced) and it was very unique. Neither mango or matcha are too overpowering. A bit pricey for $9 ($10 with oat milk) though. The cafe is very roomy with some tables and barstools, love the natural light and decor. read more

My go to coffee spot in Westchester! It's located on La Tijera right before the freeway entrance underneath an apartment complex. Solid coffee, free parking underground and in the neighborhood next to it with plenty of seating and tables with natural light. Service is always friendly and efficient. The ambiance is nice to either work/read since it's not too loud with music or people. read more

The good: I tried a latte, vanilla steamed milk, garbanzo bean pastry that was spicy and a pistachio croissant. The interior is cool and modern wkth textured walls, a couch lounge area and some window seating. They sell merchandise that are packaged nicely and would make for great gifts just closing clothing, tea and of course, coffee. The steamed milk was surprisingly more interesting tasting than I expected. The vanilla flavor tasted better than average (perhaps made in-house?). The pistachio croissant was beautifully drizzled and sprinkled with pistachios. The bad: I didn't know the vegetable pastry would be spicy so my 2 year old didn't enjoy the surprise. I wish they had more interesting latte syrup add-on options. I don't recall there being outside seating. The latte was okay to me but my husband didn't care for it. The pistachio pastry would've been nicer toasted. It tasted subpar to how it looked. I wish the inner nut paste packed more flavor. The interesting: They have other locations as well. read more
The interior has a pretty cool vibe. It's a mix of tables and some other sections with mini side tables. I went when their espresso machine was down but it wasn't too much of an issue for me because my go-to drinks are cold brews and iced coffees anyway. The baristas also did a good job posting that the machine was out of commission and sharing what was available. I was debting how to rate because the coldbrew tasted a bit off ( 3 out of 5) not sure if it was just stronger than I'm used too but it had a bitter aftertaste) but the drip coffee was really good (5/5). read more
My favorite neighborhood coffee shop in Westchester! Boy & The Bear has the cutest aesthetic inside with lots of seating areas and plants. They have a restroom that you just have to ask for the code for to enter. I always get an almond milk matcha latte (they also have plenty of tea options for us non coffee drinkers). The staff is always very friendly and helpful and I love coming here for a mid day break. Lots of people will work from here and post up with their laptops; it's generally a pretty quiet working space. They do also have a yummy pastry case, but all the good ones go quick so get there earlier in the day if you're looking for a bite to eat as well. For parking I would recommend parking down 74th st away from traffic on La tijera. read more

I always go to the Sherman Oaks location but this afternoon I stopped by here cause I was in the area and I know they have good coffee. First impression not so great cause it took the employee good three minutes to approach me to take my order. She was chatting with another girl at the pick up area. There was no one in line and only two customers sitting and enjoying their coffee, she continued chatting with her until I left with my order. .... The cold brew is delicious here. I only add milk, no sweeteners. Overall this location is nicely decorated and has indoor seating, it has a great ambiance. The Boy & The Bear has my favorite cold brew on the west side. There are 3 locations and I've been to 2 so far. Cold Brew: strong, dark, bold, and chocolatey. This location is great if you want to study and do some work. I came on a sunday this time and it wasn't busy at all, so it was nice to do some work and study, I also got a chocolate croissant and it was buttery and flakey. There are also lots of chairs, seating, and electrical outlets. The only con about this location is that WIFI is only 2 hours, I think it may be because of the building they're located in which controls the wifi. The Mar Vista location though doesn't have a wifi limit. Parking is better at the Westchester location since there is underground parking available. read more
Came here for a quick midday pick me up. My go to is a cortado with oat milk. Freshly brewed but was pretty lukewarm by the time I had a sip. First time coming here, lots of people doing work on their laptops. The barista was friendly and asked what she recommend as a first timer here and went with her recommendation. We ordered a Vanilla Latte & an Iced Honey Oat Latte and they were both great! They were both sweet but the coffee was strong and balanced the sweetness. If you're looking for speciality natural processed espresso (and don't mind paying for it) the Emerald Series - Alvaro & Gerson Mora was great. I'd recommend a macchiato or straight espresso though. Otherwise the milk softens the flavor too much. Their standard espresso is also tasty and seems like a darker roast Chorizo pie was pretty good but I'd try their savory chickpea pastry next time. Amazing local roastery that brings in all of it's beans from Columbia. Works for me as I love Columbian coffee and it didn't disappoint. First time here and I had a house Cortado which was creamy and had a great mouthfeel and great flavor. Mild but flavorful. They also had an Emerald series at "market" price which let's you try more esoteric limited choices. I love the idea of that. Great for coffee geeks! The two they had available sounded fruit-forward and that's not my favorite being a Northern Italian leaning low acidity/balanced cup type of guy but I'd certainly love to come back and try one given the opportunity. Chill vibe btw and great service- highly recommended for those that love coffee and run from the big box places. read more
