There aren't enough stars to give for this review! Alex was great, and the Knoxville Urban…read moreWilderness (KUW) was a blast!! I contacted Alex a little bit last minute, as we had previously planned on going to a different, more self navigable trail. Had heard a lot of neat things about KUW, and had Alex's Knoxville Outdoor Tours recommended by the local MTB organization, Appalachian Mountain Bike Club(AMBC). Even though I kinda got him last minute, Alex was very accommodating and got my ride set up. After riding KUW with Alex, I can tell you, I'm SO glad I procured the services of a guide to ride it. It would take riding there on a regular basis for a while (as Alex clearly has) to get to know all the rights and lefts and in between's!! Plus, Alex knows what's what as far as downhill, cross country, mix of both, and can plan your ride accordingly. Do you want to go 8 miles or 18 miles? Alex will set you up. He's awesome about warning about hazards, twists/turns, trees (above and below), etc., that you might come up on suddenly. He stops as needed. He had snacks and extra water if needed. Alex had a ton of recommendations of where to get after ride food and beverages, and also sights to see in Knoxville area. We went to SoKno Taco Cantina (right up the street from the trailhead we rode from), and I had a beer specially brewed for the AMBC group, called Best Medicine. I also had the burrito platter as suggested by Alex after he kicked my butt for 15 miles!! Lol!! And last, but most importantly, Alex was just a blast and a true pleasure to ride with. I had so much fun, and can NOT say enough good things about this experience!! If you are visiting the area, and want to ride Knoxville Urban Wilderness, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't use KNOT guide services. I promise you, it is worth EVERY penny!! Thanks again Alex/Knoxville Outdoor Tours (KNOT)

Went for a ride after the skills and he knew the trails needed to practice the skills. Day 2 took a guided tour lead by Will, again an excellent part of the Bike Farm team, took us out to DuPont and shows us some amazing trails, even had chocolate chip cookies after the ride. I highly recommend The Bike Farm for all levels of riders. Thanks JP

Guided Rides - Our guide Josh managed to make it all work perfect; for a mom who is truly a mountain biking beginner, the dad who seems to be able to handle anything and the son who really enjoys a challenge. My point is, they happily accommodate all skills levels. Rental Bike options - it's only first class here with beautifully equipped new Yeti bikes, you will leave wanting one of these babies for sure! Plenty of choices for all rider types/sizes/etc... Location - The Bike Farm is easy to find just outside Asheville proper then a short trip to unbelievable trail options. Your guide will discuss what you want to do, then plan the route accordingly. We originally chose one day then added a second because we just couldn't get enough. If we could have stayed longer, we definitely would have. We took this trip to have an escape and enjoy the outdoors and couldn't be happier that we chose The Bike Farm. When we return to NC, without a doubt we will book again.

The staff was so nice, friendly and funny! The lil gift shop was well stocked and we bought snacks and drinks for the ride... upon our return we bought some really soft AVRT shirts and hats to match to remind us of our ride. Let me tell you about the ride! Oh my goodness! So we started off listening to a safety speech, which was so helpful! They showed us how to break, how to use the electric motor assist and the hand signals to use when we stop or if we have trouble. So helpful! We started out on our bike and the electric motor helped a lot! We would use it a little and the then pedal, repeat. We passed through fields and trees, streams and rivers! We even had to slow down for a sweet cow and her calf crossing the track! We saw a bunch of wild turkeys and an albino turkey! When we started up the mountain the motor assist really helped! The tunnel was amazing and it felt so fresh driving through it! We stopped at the top, just past the tunnel, and there we dismounted and we had time to wander around we walked down to the river and saw a trout! Ate our snacks at the picnic tables and then walked back up the hill and across the bridge to the tunnel, where our tour guide Holly took our picture and then told us about the history of the tunnel and how to date the rails! So cool! We then headed back to our bike"Gulf Wind" and headed back down to the depot. It was so much fun! All of us came back with giant smiles on our faces! We can't wait to come back in the Fall and ride again!

Enjoy the countryside, rolling fields of grain, cows, streams and mountain scenery. We literally had to stop to let cows cross the track on the way down! This is a unique attraction that lets you see the area in a new way. We had a lot of fun and felt like kids peddling up and down the mountain. The hand carved tunnel at the top was fascinating! It's hard to imagine the scale and effort that went into creating it in the 1800s. I would definitely pack a snack and drink for your break. You have about 20 minutes to look around and take pictures. If you have small children, I'd recommend a small activity to keep them entertained. Here are a few logistics: They are serious about arriving 30 minutes before your scheduled ride. I would actually recommend arriving 45 minutes before if you want to use the restroom, apply sun screen, pack your bag, etc. They begin the safety speech and loading at exactly 30 minutes before. My advice would be to go into this with a good attitude. The pedal assist does really help, but you still need to be pedaling. The way up requires some effort, but going downhill is always easier. If you are not physically able to pedal, I'd recommend their rail cart that does not require pedaling. Our rail bike worked great the entire way up and down. The bike in front of us did experience some issues, but the staff was great at helping and multiple solutions. This is a great locally owned attraction that I recommend supporting to boast the local economy!

The Sinks is a lovely waterfall along the river. There is a small parking lot with about a dozen spaces where we found parking. An observation area is a short walk from parking. A sign describes the area and that the falls were manmade. During the late 1800's the river was used to transport logs/timber to the nearby town of Elkmont. After a storm, flood waters caused a jam in the river. Dynamite was used to restore water flow. The blast resulted in a twist in the river and creation of the waterfall. A set of stone steps leads up a hill, offering lovey views of the falls. There are dozens of waterfalls in the Park. Sinks is one of the few that is drivable, which is great for people that cannot hike. I picked up a Waterfalls map at the visitor center that I found interesting and informative. Parking passes are required to park in the lot. There are no amenities at the falls. Plan 15-30 minutes for a stop and photos.
