On June 11th, I left two purses and a pair of shoes at Waldorf Shoe Repair, and the female staff member assured me that my items would be repaired and ready for pickup within a week. However, when I returned two weeks later, nothing had been done. She promised that if I came back the next day, my items would be ready, but that turned out to be untrue. Once again, she provided excuses for the delay and advised me to call before my next visit. When I called, the owner's son answered the phone and abruptly hung up while yelling for the staff member to take the call. When she finally answered, my items were still not ready. The following day, I went in again to retrieve my belongings, only to find they were still not available. I requested a refund of my deposit, and I had to assist her in locating my items, which were scattered throughout their disorganized shop. The owner was present during this encounter, and when I explained the situation to him, he was not particularly helpful. read more

Upon dropping off my shoes, I was told I'd get a call once they were assessed. Weeks went by with no updates. When I started calling to check in, I was repeatedly told they'd "call me back," but I never received a single follow-up. Over several calls, I got conflicting answers -- first that they didn't know where my shoes were, then that they'd been found, and later that parts might need to be ordered. None of that ever happened. When I tried to get clarification, the staff were rude, condescending, and completely unaccountable. They blamed me for "missing their calls" or even claimed they had "never received" my calls, instead of taking responsibility or offering a real explanation. I double checked my received calls and hadn't received anything from them, so I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and asked if they had my number written down correctly, which they did. After a month and a half of this back-and-forth, I told them I'd come pick up the shoes myself if no progress was being made. I was again promised a call the next morning, which never came after I had waited two days. When I finally drove 45 minutes each way to retrieve them, I found that the shoes hadn't been touched at all -- not even disassembled. This experience wasted three hours of driving and a lot of time and patience. I understand delays happen, but the lack of honesty, accountability, and professionalism made this one of the most frustrating customer experiences I've ever had. I wouldn't have had any issues if they had taken accoutnability or communicated what was going on, I really wanted to support a local business. But it seems that I'll have to ship my shoes off to someone else to get them done, a month and a half of waiting with no progress or updates is a little ridiculous to me. read more

Let's first talk about the fact that they answer the phone. Like a real live person each and every time I've called. No dial this to get that or press x to hear or if your extension is ... a real live genuine person and that is so underrated now and days. Anyways did you know you can take something with a zipper to a cobbler and they might be able to fix it? Well I've had this nice Calpak backpack that I've used for work for the past few years and the zipper to one part broke. I was devastated and refused to pay the new prices for a replacement. I took my backpack over here and within maybe two to three days tops I was receiving a call that my bag was ready to be picked up. Overall I received great customer service and I will be returning and telling all of my friends about this what seems to be a black owned establishment. Thank you all! read more

This shoe repair store is not on the level.I took a pair of boots ( work) there to get stretched because they said they had a machine stretcher. After wearing my boots after picking them up they had not improved. I called and asked again if they had a machine boot stretcher and they said " no" the second time. I would not have spent the money for a non machine stretch. I ' ll try a cobbler next time. read more

Was nervous about taking my shoes due to the reviews. But glad I went for my own experience. My heels on my boots wore down to the nail and I had a few scuff marks on the front. They look brand new again!!! I'll be back to taking in other shoes for repairs. It only took 4 days and they called to let me know they where ready. read more

Any time. Anything. This little shop is magnificent! I recently snagged a great deal on a jumbo black suitcase perfect for traveling, but one wheel was broken. I did not give it a second thought, and I knew exactly who to take it to!! Mr. Quincy is a magician; he fixed a "cowgirl" style purse I loved in time to rock it for the Summer, and now my suitcase has two perfectly rolling wheels. The owner of the shop was very professional and courteous toward me. He made sure my shoes were fixed correctly. Someone repaired them before he got to them and when I went to pick them up he told me they weren't ready and had to be repaired because one of the workers ( I think it was the woman who works there, who was very rude) initially repaired them but did a poor job but Mr. Melvin fixed them and they feel great! read more

This is an awesome local shop. I took my shoe bag that I had just bought, used once, and broke the zipper on. The owner took really good care of me, repaired the zipper on the spot. I have been getting my shoes repaired here for as long as I can remember...and my parents started coming here in 1977. Mr. Melvin Jones, the owner, and his extremely handsome son have never met a stranger. Their work is clean and professional and they can fix just about anything. I think the price to repair/re-heel leather pumps has gone up, but so has everything else in the universe. Their craftsmanship is well worth it. read more

DON"T DO IT! I drop off a pair of Michael Kors riding boots. Asks the guy to stretch the calves. He say's no problem. About 1.5 weeks later, they are ready. I go pick them up on 12/07/2015 and he didn't stretch the calves, he stretched across the width of my feet. THAT was sooooo not needed as I have very narrow feet. Don't know where that mix up came from. I reiterate what I need. This time it is the lady. She tells me they need to put in a piece to stretch it. Fine, OK.. I agree to her pricing (40.00) but somehow she changes it to $36. She says give her a few days. I called today (12/18/2015) and they haven't even started my boots. I let them know that I am on my way to get them. I pick up my boots, have my credit card credited the $36 and leave. There was no apology, nothing except have a good Christmas. This is the most unprofessional, unorganized, dirtiest, nastiest place ever. NEVER again. read more

Living in Southern Maryland means you are limited in what is available to you, especially when it comes to repairing a shoe, or in my case, having your belt shorten. Since I'm 30 minutes from Waldorf and needed to have my belt shorten by 3 inches, I decided to give these guys a try. The shop is small, right off of 301 & if you don't eagerly search for it, you'll drive right pass it. When I visited for the 1st time on January 29th, 2014, my first impressions were: The customer representative Sherry was polite, BUT the store was filthy, disgusting, and looked like It hadn't been cleaned in ages. Aside from this, it reminded me of the shoe factory from the movie Jumanji haha. The woman told me to come back in a week (7 days) and the belt would be shorten & would only cost $10. I returned on February 8th, 2014 (10 days after I dropped it off) after calling the day prior to let them know I'd pick the belt up the next day, and IT STILL WASN'T READY. They hadn't even touched it! The worse part about it was they decided to do it when I arrived and each time a customer walked in the door, they'd wait on them & then work on my belt. How rude! It literally took them 30 minutes to shorten the belt, you mean to tell me they couldn't have this finished in 10 days? Moral of the story: Avoid this establishment. The quality of their work is the only reason they received 2 stars because they did a great job on the belt. HOWEVER, this does not out way the fact that it wasn't ready in 10 days or the fact that I had to wait an additional 30 minutes once I arrived while they helped each & every customer that came in the door. Not impressed! I took a pair of sandals to be repaired and when I picked them up there was a patched place where they had messed up the foot bed of sandal. I had already paid so they said they'd make it right next time with a credit. Took them in again after wearing twice for an unrelated issue along with a pair of ankle boots. Said I needed the sandals by Friday, but didn't matter on the boots- it's July!! They said Friday was fine, but when I stopped on my way home from work 1/2 hr before closing, they said it'd be Saturday for the sandals, but that the boots were ready. I live 40 minutes away!! My husband has a pair of western boots that he wears to work and out on his motorcycle. He also wore them when he was deployed overseas for nearly a year. They've been re-soled three times. The last two times were by Waldorf Shoe Repair. Yes, the gal at the front desk can be blunt. Yes, the shop looks like it has been there for decades..most likely it has been. But yes, they took boots that were very worn down and did a wonderful job rebuilding the toe and replacing the sole. I suspect those boots will last my husband another couple of years thanks to their good work. read more

I took a pair of Gladiator sandals to this shop on June 23, 2015 to have the straps expanded to fit my wide calf legs. I went back every Saturday......did I day EVERY Saturday from June - September 19, 2015 to pick up the sandals that still hadn't been repaired. EXCUSES EACH WEEK - THE SHOP IS CLUTTER WITH ALL SORTS OF ITEM - AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE SANFORD AND SON INSIDE. Finally after seeing the major damage they did to my brand new pair of sandal I had enough. I demanded the full price I paid for the gladiator sandals along with the money I paid to have the straps ex[anded. "IT's CALLED DAMAGE GOODS. This is when the real customer service was revealed. The female work - Tone Change, I was asked to step aside while they waited on other customers in line, and ohhhh here the best part she informed me with an attitude they were working on my sandals and that I never told them the added adjustable straps had to be the exact same color as the shoe leather. Stay away. Took boots, old leather binocular case and an expensive, rare handbag to them. Boots took weeks (just soles on the heels), the binocular case was never touched, and the handbag which needed only minor stitching along one side was returned RUINED -- someone had completely cut off the clasp! It took me seven months to get the binocular case and handbag back from them -- I kept dropping by, and got promises of "I'll call you," "tomorrow," "couple of days," or "next week." I happen to see this shoe repair place, and it reminded me that I needed some Boot strings . When I stepped inside, I was wonderfully suprised to see a real shoe workshop . I got to get some photos of that place . Everybody was so professional,and friendly . they have everything you need to keep your shoes in top shape like dye, polish,shoe strings they had a plethera of products. I had a purse I have had for years that I wore every time I was on the road and I LOVED IT! Finally, after some wear and tear and no thanks to the idiots in Vietnam who tried to take it, the strap finally broke. My man, the caring person he is, saw that I threw it away and pulled it out to get repaired. He dropped it off here and after a month or so we heard nothing, so I went in to check on it. Wasn't even touched. Then about 3 weeks, heard nothing. Went in and something about a broken needle and just forgot. Was told it would be fixed ASAP with a call. After a few days and no call, went in and it was fixed quickly and brought home. I noticed the strap was put on twisted and not done very well. We brought it back in on Saturday and was told it would be done that day and we would be called. NOTHING AGAIN! I left town Sunday without it and very unhappy! My man went in to check on it earlier this week and wasn't done. Finally, I called today and asked and it was done and I informed my man he could go get it. Apparently, It looks ok now, but really??? Almost two months to fix a purse strap? I AM VERY UNHAPPY and certainly not impressed. Getting my purse fixed here was not my first choice and now, it is less then last and it won't be a place where we go again.
