I have been to Smug Brewing a couple times and it is always a great time. They often have events. I have been there for a kids craft, comedy night, and a book club! They will have outside food trucks or vendors stop by since they don't prepare any food in-house, but the rotation of items is fun. The place has a vibe of a community hangout with lots of boardgames. The beers are amazing, by the way. There is something for everyone with the variety of items. The bartenders will let you sample until you find one you like which is awesome. A great place and a chill hangout spot! read more

This is my favorite brewery in the area, mostly because of the people who work here. They are just so amazing to hang out with. Ali and Andrew are just *chefs kiss* I will say that smug makes the best sour beer around. I'm not super into sours, and they hit it out of the park every time. That's saying a lot for me. There's plenty of seating at the bar, but also all over the rest of the building, which includes couches and lounge chairs, even a cornhole set. This is also a great place for events. Stopped here for our 14th brewery drinks. They only have street parking, but we didn't have any problems finding a spot. They are located in an old mill building. Nice setting to have a drink. My partner got Smoke on the Lager which he thought was good and I got the blueberry seltzer (only flavor) which had a nice taste, but it had a beer flavor to it. They also had someone set up selling food, I'm not sure what was offered as we had already eaten. Worth the stop to check out if your in the area. read more

Man, let me tell you 'bout this brewery we stumbled upon. It was in this ancient, like really old building, man. We're talkin' halls and corridors everywhere, like we were lost in a freakin' maze. It felt like we wandered into some old-school, maybe a converted school house or somethin', you dig? But hey, gotta give props to the staff, man. They were super friendly and helpful, like the chillest dudes around. The service was on point, no complaints there. They had our backs, makin' sure we were taken care of. Now, here comes the bummer, man. The beer, oh boy, it was below average, to say the least. Some of it was straight-up bad, like a bad trip, you know? We were hopin' for some mind-blowing brews, but sadly, they fell short. The flavors were subpar, not livin' up to our expectations. I had the IPAs. A friend has a sour that was pretty good. Maybe the other styles are better than their IPAs. But you know, it's like I always say, you win some, you lose some, man. These guys quickly transformed the former Bucket Brewery space and made it home. It's more open now, the bar/tasting area is larger and you can quickly get to the restrooms. Parking on the street looks hard, but it's not. Pull on the curb across from the brewery and head in. They had around 6-7 beers on draft and cans to take with. I had half pours of both stouts which were very good. Prices are pretty standard. You can get a taste, a half or full glass. Looking forward to seeing these guys grow and grateful they're in the neighborhood. read more

This place is a bit hard to find but a total gem in Pawtucket! They have food vendors on Saturdays and on this day they had a Jamaican food vendor, which sold patties (beef, chicken, or curry veggie) and coconut rice bowls. They were sadly all out of the veggie patties when we got there (around 5:30) but they offered to only make me half an order of the veggie rice bowl so it would be the same price ($6.00 - super affordable). I ordered the Lights Out Stout and it was delicious!! Had a coffee flavor and was great if you like dark beer. They have mostly IPAs but a decent selection. The environment there is a good vibe as well - would love to go back during the daytime. read more

Absolutely love this local brewery. Before COVID we would stop by here several times a month and enjoy a brew at their chill, comfortable bar and seating area. There was lots of room to spread out including a bench, small tables and a living room like area with a sofa and board games. There also used to be great events with local food trucks such as Burgundian Waffles from Attleboro and JA Patty from RI. Since COVID, we have continued to support this brewery by stopping by for some of their outdoor food truck features (the Cousin's Maine Lobster truck events are epic) and picking up four packs of beer using their online ordering platform and curbside pickup. My bf loves the Driving Miss Hazy IPA. I adored their Tiger King tribute beer and their Gourds Gone Wild pumpkin brew. Both of these were limited release. I also enjoy the Driving Miss Hazy, Short and Stout (tastes like coffee so yum) and the Chubby Unicorn (a whopping 9% ABV DIPA). Their new release Cabin Fever, a winter lager with 7% ABV has is a nice maple and caramel flavor that is perfect for this time of year. We've also purchased a lot of their merchandise including hats, tee shirts, long sleeve shirts and flannels to represent Pawtucket and their delicious beer. The staff here has also always been friendly, chill and excellent both when we were inside at the bar and with the curbside pick up. Many of the staff have been around long term and that is always a sign of a good business. I encourage you to order your special release brews early as the popular ones do fly quickly. Very convenient pick up arrangement right outside (pull up and text) and great COVID precautions: staff all wear masks and will gladly deposit the brews in your trunk so you don't even have to get out of your car. read more

What a cool, great atmosphere. Soft opening this hosted this weekend. Plenty of people to fill the warm couches and other assorted sitting areas. Two current brews on tap, Driving Miss Hazy a NE IPA, light crisp easy to drink. Blocker, an APA reminds me of one of my favorite local beers which shall go unnamed, so by default super tasty to my palate. Friendly staff slinging beers. $6 full pours, $3.5 half pours, flights will $11 once more beers are debuted. Pop by, try a cool clean beer enjoying experience. Been here several times over the course of 2020 for curbside pick-up. Due to the pandemic, I've never had the pleasure of being inside the tap room, but I've heard amazing things about it & look forward to being able to try it in the (hopefully near) future. They have a really great variety of beer throughout the year, from sours to stouts, & I get a real chuckle out of their label designs & beer names. They have some pretty awesome seasonal stuff too; this year, I was psyched about their fall beer (Gourds Gone Wild) & their holiday cranberry beer (Hipster Santa). Their summer sours were pretty epic too. And, l've loved their collaborations with Borealis Coffee Company. They also have a decent size IPA selection for those who love them; I recommend the Chubby Unicorn...so good! Beer is sold in cans here. Their website is super easy to use & gives great descriptions of what they have available. If you sign up for their emails, you'll get a heads up on new flavors...or returns of your favorites. I am so glad that this is so close to home! I found this awesome brewery when I had saw a Facebook event for ja Patty's being there. I got some patties and made my way to the bar and was taken back by their choices. All the bartenders are so well versed in the selections and makes you feel right at home as well. It's quite big inside and they have so much seating space, it kind of amazed me. It's set up like a bar with a chill lounge attached to it. Anywaysss, Before making the decision to get the flight, he allowed me to taste multiple and explained them all to me in such great detail. My favorite beer was the passion fruit ipa which was sadly not there anymore when I went this past weekend. The IPAs there are so different than the normal IPA, even though they do have some with the natural characteristics, but I enjoyed practically every single one of them my first time going. I also really enjoyed the sour, it had this fruit juice taste mixed with kombucha. I love that there is a place I can go and have a drink that's literally right down the street. Smug is a nice little micro brewery nestled in the heart of Pawtucket. I visited there recently and was impressed with their taproom. I had been a fan of their Driving Miss Hazy for months, and was eager to try it fresh on tap. It did not disappoint! I am deducting a star because they have NO drink options - aside from water - for non beer drinkers. I think keeping some cans of various sodas or juices would be a nice touch, but I'm not going to totally crucify them for this. They do partner with local food trucks, but we went Saturday early afternoon and the truck didn't arrive until that night, so there was no option during our visit. With great service, gorgeous tables and delicious beer, I'm sure to be back in no time! read more

We missed the opening, but stopped in today. Glad we did. 4 beers. Grand slam! Blocker the pale ale is very well balanced and should appeal to the masses. Driving Miss Hazy is a respectable IPA which is is a daunting task in New England. Again...very well balanced and should appeal to many IPA fans. I'm not a sour guy, but the Be Fruitful and Multiply was tasty and enjoyable. The real winner here is the Short and Stout. It's just about perfect as far as I'm concerned. It's medium bodied and smooth with a perfect balance of malt and hops and a not too sweet vanilla chai spin on it. I can't believe it's 7% ABV...this is a dangerous brew! This is the closest brewery to my house so I am very excited to see what they come up with next! Kudos to the brew meister! read more

This place was great! I wasn't sure how they felt about kids going but I went early with a friend around 4:00 pm and saw little ones there just in case anyone was curious. What's cute little spot! It's got a very chill vibe to it. The staff was really fun too. I'm not a fan of IPAs usually but the one I tried was actually good! I was a fan of the sour they had "Be fruitful and multiply" and their "short and stout" stout (obviously lol) the prices were very reasonable. Between my friend and I we had 8 beers and we left with 3 Howlers (32 oz bottles) and the bill was 84$. That's pretty damn good. They had an empanada booth and it looked like a wooden skeeball set up in other room. They rotate food set ups daily in adjourning room. All in all it was fun and the beer was good. Was there this past Saturday with my Father-in-Law doing a day of different brewery stops. And Smug was our favorite for the Day. The bear was excellent and not overpriced for a brewery. The real winner was the staff, the staff made ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the experience. Allison was friendly and had a the perfect personality to be a server, she wasn't afraid to answer our questions from things about the beer to the food to the atmosphere. A most charming old mill cellar taproom, clean and comfortable. The brewmaster is usually on hand. He loves to make sure you enjoy his work. Fruity and flavored styles I often find gimmicky and overdone, tend here to be properly restrained and well balanced. I would be suspicious of vanilla chai anything but Short and Stout is a consistent favorite. So is the blueberry sour. They do a great job with fruity tropical flavors. Smug life is not too syrupy like other bock beers. The only dud is El Gringo lager. read more

In Rhode Island speak .. its where bucket used to be ! What a beautiful upgrade. The place is remodeled and sunny and cozy. Even the bathroom is a nice place to visit. Which you will because the beer is delicious and you will need it as you down them ! Plenty of parking on the street or in the back lot. The staff always greets you warmly when you enter. They offer to bring your beer to many seating choices. There is a couch we love to cozy up on , ample bar space , and large community tables. Space and tables is good to bring your own snacks or food. Unless there is a food truck then you should eat from the truck because all of them have amazing food ! Robert is the head brewer and is almost always around to chat , talk shop, collect glasses , and make sure you have enough beer. It really makes for a great experience when the brewer is there. We are all here for the beer so how is it ? Is it treehouse or trillium ? Nope ? It's not overpriced and overhyped. By now we have tried almost everything they have to offer and are pleased with them. There are different types so one for everyone to try. They offer sample racks also so you can have different ones. My favorite is the chai stout. Dark and delicious with lots of smoke and spice. The bf loves the orange sour. It's not overpowering sour but a mild pucker with a lot of fruit. Came to visit the Smug for the first time with a group of friends during their one year anniversary event on a Sunday. Place is a decent size, offers all kinds of sitting areas from two chairs to big table for larger groups.. also has a few board games and cards for entertainment! Now to the beer! They offer about 6 kinds to choose from. I seen one of my friends order their Tricycle Purple Golden Ale and I had to get it. Boy was I happy I did. So many great flavors in that beer! Smug is a fun brewery in a lovely basement mill space in Pawtucket, RI. We went once before opening weekend and returned months later to find the space much less crowded and offering many more beers to choose from. I had a flight with the Be Fruitful and Multiply blueberry sour and the "Best Day Ever" (a pineapple pale ale) and enjoyed them both immensely. Two decent stouts rounded out my flight and I liked the chai one a smidge more than the Russian stout but both were very good. The staff was friendly, seating was cozy, and there we games galore to choose from to pass the time while we drank.
