Moniker Brewery is a craft brewery that opened in Providence, Rhode Island in January 2021. It was founded by business partners Bryan Benedict, Jeff Goodno, Ben Estes, Ted Pease and Jean Lombard. Benedict left a career in IT in order to turn his craft beer hobby into a full time job. He worked as a sales rep and brand manager for a wholesaler before becoming the director of marketing and sales at Connecticut-based Beer'd Brewing Company. He dreamed of opening his own brewery, so he partnered with Goodno, who had 15+ years of experience working for breweries such as Taproot, Victory Brewing, and SOME Brewing. Estes, who had formerly worked at Proclamation Ale Company and the Guild, was hired as the head brewer. Pease and Lombard, who had experience with tax laws and other skills, were the last partners to come on board. They set up shop in a former auto body. Benedict chose the name "Moniker" to strip away the focus on brand egos and instead focus entirely on the taproom experience, the community, and the beer. The brewery became notable for their wide repertoire of beer styles, even earning praise from Hop Culture Magazine. In May 2026, Moniker purchased Ravenous Brewing in Cumberland with plans to rebrand it as "Moniker North". I recently visited Moniker Brewery while I was passing through Providence. They had been on my list for a while. The place was small and cozy but inviting with a decent amount of indoor seating. There is also patio seating outside, but it was a little too wet and chilly on the day of my visit. I pulled up a seat at the bar and looked over the draught menu. There was a nice eclectic mix of styles. I ordered a sampler flight which included "L.H. Czech Dark" (Tmavé), "Midnight Rodeo" (Dark Mexican Lager), "Blinded by Nostalgia" (IPA), "Stay Cool Drink Moniker" (Hazy Pale Ale), and "It's Called Sightseeing" (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Tripel). The beer tenders are always so friendly here and it's a great casual spot to hang out - vibes are great! I do wish there were some lower chairs instead of all tall stools or the back nook - yaknow, for us short / awkward people. The outdoor areas out front or in back are dreamy in the warm weather, when they also open the garage door and let the warm air flow through (I once got pretty bit up in the back area outside though, so pro tip: wear pants or bug spray). Dogs are welcome here and I love to see the furry cuties visit. They offer multiple types of dog treats for four legged customers, which is such a thoughtful touch! The beer is focused on authentic, European lager / pilsner styles and doesn't switch up very often. Their beers are not very sweet, but they usually offer multiple types of pilsners and lagers at any given moment. The styles they specialize in are not my most favorite, which is my only reason for removing a star, but take a look at the menu - if those styles are your jam, they seem to be pretty authentic and you will probably love them. I usually go for the Pink Lemonade Seltzer and it's great and very fizzy. I went today as part of The Big Lebrewsky and they offered a "tasting," which to my delight consisted of a flight of 3 - very generous! I got the Coffee Stout (very strong), Irish Red (smoother and I enjoyed more than I thought- a solid choice!), and the Czech Pilsner (very light and goes down smoothly/easily). I loved this opportunity to branch out to some styles I don't always go for when I'm here. Special shout out to mascot Stella who always makes my day when she makes an appearance. It's usually easy to find street parking here, although the street has a decent amount of potholes, so keep an open eye lol. We came to Moniker for a residency social and had a great time! Hung out mostly in the outdoor area, which was cute and spacious. There's also lots of open-air inside seating too (I think there was trivia going on when we went, fun). Service was friendly. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Just wanted to leave another review for Moniker! This place is the best. I recently went with some friends and our dogs. It was a Monday night and most other places were closed, and we are so happy Moniker is open on Mondays! They had an open mic night and it was so much fun! They also had a food truck. This is such a great spot for an after-work beer with friends! It's dog friendly, very open, with lots of seating. They even have fire pits which come in handy when it's cold. I came back to Moniker Brewery to redeem my beverage voucher for donating blood between July 28 through August 31 at a Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC). I am consistent, because I ordered the same drink I did last year. Blessed be the Fruit, an American Sour Ale made with blackberry and hibiscus was fruity and tart. All the staff are very friendly and there are ample seating area inside and outside. ABCD Brothers Kitchen, a food truck, was at Moniker Brewery and we ordered some food from there. The drink menu was great - not a lot of non-alcoholic options but I got a spicy mango soda that the bartender recommended and it was fantastic. I went during open mic night and it was great. There were so many talented performers and I loved that the brewery had a little shelf with some games on it that we could play while we listened. We were in town for a visit and wanted to see what craft beers Providence had to offer and be able to take a dog. Our first option bombed but we found Moniker. I ordered a Parallel Thinking and it had the true New England IPA taste. The staff was friendly and helpful in making a choice based on my tastes. The inside has a great homey vibe but outside is beautiful. There were well behaved pups all around and ours was happy to meet them all. Went last night (a Saturday night), and they should have just been closed for a private event! Most tables were "reserved" and there was a speed date event going on. It was incredibly loud. 30 or so singles all trying to hear what each other are saying nearly screaming. I couldn't hear anything my husband was saying and we had to stand in a corner out of the way of all the madness. There was a food truck that looks like it doesn't move from outside right in front but on a Saturday evening it wasn't open for food. Strange. Sure you could order out from other businesses, but holy crap the environment in there was the loudest and most chaotic thing I've ever experienced at a brewery! Had they posted this on their socials we would have picked another night to go. Could not enjoy our beer.just close for a private event, you can't make money off this event and expect regular customers to come and enjoy a beer. read more

Really a good time had gone there with a an elite like trial thing and try a different items. It was very good that people were super friendly. They didn't have a band that night or any food but they said you could take an order in and it could be delivered we just got our two free drinks and sat and listen to the radio they had playing talked to other people. My husband couldn't decide which one he wanted to drink so they gave him samples of like three different things like on the way like and that ends up being really good, but they were all super friendly and understanding and I really am looking forward to going back there at a time where I can bring my daughter and her husband and the grandson and they have a food truck going on and they have the abilities to sit outside where it is warmer. I still use my free glass that I got from being a yelper at home so I keep remembering what a great time I had. read more

We've stopped in to Moniker a couple of times when in the area. The last visit we brought in some food from a local business. The beers rotate which means if I love one beer, it may not be available the next visit. They offer a 5oz pour which allows one to sample a beer before investing in a full size pour. Order at the counter right inside the door. I go for dark or sour beers while my SO likes an IPA style with lots of hoppy notes. They brew a wide range of styles so most people will be able to find what they enjoy. You can always get a flight if you are just not sure. Check out their website for what is currently on tap or ask for a canned brew of their making. You can purchase canned beer for take away. The interior has one long high top style table and counter along the wall both with backless stool seating. A few tables with metal chairs fit four or more each. There is one big corner banquette seating area near the restrooms that will fit a large group. This is the only comfortable seating in the place and is always occupied, even if by just two humans and their dogs. In any event, in cooler weather, you may need to offer up the empty seats at your table to a stranger. Be friendly. This is a beer hall. In warm weather the garage door wall is open to the breeze. There is plenty of outdoor seating with lots of picnic and regular style, metal tables and chairs. There are several propane heating towers out there and a fire pit area. If you follow them on social media you will know what events are taking place. They often have food trucks parked at the curb as a convenience to guests. Just remember, if there is a spot right out front, that may be for a food truck. They also have a customer discount for food with the burger joint down the road. Both restrooms are clean. Last visit we left just as they were getting very busy. A family with two small kids and a pup arrived looking for a space to fit them all, inside the building and we happily let them know they could have our table. So make note, kids are welcome, just be dressed to sit outdoors during busy times. Cheers! read more

This place just has a great vibe. My hubs and I came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and ended up showing up on trivia night. It was packed. Trivia was a popular night. You could tell a lot of people go there regularly and even though it was our first time there, we were very welcomed by patrons and staff. The beer is good, and for a small brewery, they had good variety from lagers to ales, to a seasonal lager that we really enjoyed. They have a patio with firepits if you need a little more space, and a food truck outside if you want some bites. The whole atmosphere was really chill. We will definitely be going back more often and perhaps for a rematch on trivia. read more

Not my style. The beers are pretty good but not something I'd go out of my way for. The NEIPA, which is a difficult style to master, was nothing special and the Pilsner had a diacetyl problem that produce a flavor like buttered popcorn - it's easy to fix but requires care during fermentation. Visited with my better half to sample this micro brewery's beers. They have convenient 5 ounce servings, so we tried their West Coast IPA, their New England IPA, and their American Sparkling Ale. The American Sparkling is made with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and aged in gin staves. I loved the American Sparkling ale and the West Coast IPA. They have nice indoor and outdoor seating, and a couple of food trucks were available to order food. There's 2 hour free street parking a few steps from their entrance. read more

Woke up this morning and first thought was, I think I want another El Rodeo! had a nice time to myself last night with very tasty beers!! Can't wait to go back! Wish I caught the names behind the bar cuz they were working really hard with still a smile and great service! Place was packed! But I love love love!!! This was my first trip to New England (outside of Boston and other big metropolises) and I was on a mission to experience as much New England craft beer as I could. Moniker was highly recommended to me and frankIy, I wish I'd spent more time in Providence so I could have made a second trip. These guys serve up excellent craft beer. I only got to sample the lager and pilsner, but both were served up fresh and crisp. The space is really fun, with plenty of outdoor seating, and games including cornhole. I can only recommend based on my limited time in Providence, but this was one of my best craft beer experiences in New England. You won't be disappointed when you visit. read more

This brewery is one of the newer breweries in Providence. It has great curb appeal with a big beer garden. Every table has its own heating lamp with cool looking lights hang over the entire beer garden. We tried all of their beer by getting a flight. Since I have my favorites when it comes to beer. I can say their beer is very competitive with the other breweries in the state. Hopefully they can get some food trucks park outside this summer. read more

Really great place to get drinks in the spring/summer; there is outside seating and often there will be a food truck outside as well!

The beer here was great! We had a flight of 4 ($3 each)- solar flight (ipa 6.66%), take it easy (ipa 4.4%), state of flow (pilsner 5.5%) and fuzzy distance (heffeweizen 6%). My favorite was fuzzy distance- for some reason it tasted like cheese? LOL my palette is severely unrefined. My friend liked take it easy because it was slightly bitter. There are tables and seats at the front of the brewery, and picnic tables in the back covered by one large umbrella (altho it didnt prevent all the light from filtering thru during our visit). People brought dogs which was fun! You can also sit inside. Bathrooms are clean (2 individual stalls). You order inside and they offer to bring your drinks outside. You can also buy their canned beer (got the lager which is $16 for 4 and tasted good!) we had a hard time determining which brewery to visit during our stay but are glad we chose moniker! read more

There are an increasing number of breweries on Federal Hill so it's becoming more and more of a weekend hotspot. Moniker Brewery strikes a good balance of good quality beer in a chill, unpretentious atmosphere. The first time I came we sat outside around a fire pit which was really lovely. The second time I came they only had indoor seating due to the weather. The inside is nice enough but it wasn't quite as fun. You can just order at the counter, I think there was only one person working here both times I stopped by. You can get a full pour or a 5 oz glass if you want to try a bunch of different things. So far I've had the smoked pumpkin beer, Berliner Weisse, and cream ale, and everything has been delicious! You can add mango or raspberry flavor to the Berliner Weisse if you want. They also have a quahog beer made with clam shells but I haven't worked up the nerve to try that one yet! They also make a hard seltzer (pink lemonade flavor recently) but I didn't get the chance to try it. It's nice that they have a gluten free option for people who can't have beer. Prices are really affordable, most of the draft beers are around $6-7 which is more than reasonable. One downside is that they don't have any food and it can be a little bit difficult to scrounge up food nearby. They recommend going to Bucktown or Pizza J which are just around the corner. They also don't mind if you get takeout delivered, but it's definitely a con as opposed to some place like Revival where they have a whole kitchen right there. read more

Well I would like to give a better review but unfortunately has more to do with the atmosphere, beer was decent had a nice IPA but if your going to let the bartender pic his play list for music you need to rethink that.
