I am a local to MB for 20 years. This was my first time to Smugglers Den. I went to the bar and ordered a Chardonnay from Shaggy. No problem. A friend was there and invited me to sit in front of the stage and I-joined him.this place stays open until 12:00. I ordered another Chardonnay. My friend ordered my drink while I went to the bathroom. When I came to the table my drink was there. For some reason unbeknownst to me the bartender Jody who gave me my drink came back and also took my drink off of the table in front of me with no explanation. I hadn't even touched that glass. Please can you imagine my shock! What have I done? I felt really bad , what did I do to deserve this treatment from Jody? I will never come here again and I will definitely spread the word that this place does not like locals. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. I was in town with my wife visiting my mother in law. There are a ton of great places to eat around there. The menu at The Smugglers Den intrigued me. We were with my older church going mother in law. We walked into what was very much a bar. Knowing *most* bar food, I unfortunately lowed my expectations. I was wrong to do so. The chef there really knows what he is doing. Between the three of us, we had a chicken sandwich, a shrimp po' boy, and the all you can eat fish fry. Everything was fantastic. Like for real. You would expect smaller portions with an all you can eat fish fry, but this was a legit sized portion. It was cooked just right. Seasoned great. Same as the shrimp in the po' boy. Decent size shrimp. Cooked right with fantastic flavor. The chicken sandwich was fresh breaded, not a frozen chicken patty. I can completely recommend this place. I really hope that they make it. There is a lot of competition and the atmosphere doesn't exactly scream "great meal coming" but that is exactly what you get. Great meal, reasonable price with top notch service. This place is great. My mother-in-law plans on bringing all her church friends, and next time I am in town, I definitely visit The Smugglers Den read more

It was one of my favorite places to visit until the new owners took over. Before you had a Roast beef spread for Sundays. It came with the boiled potatoes, asparagus and other vegetables. * excellent smash burger* Im visiting from out of town for a wedding. This place was near the venue so I stopped in for beer and food. Ordered the smash burger and was blown away! We went on a Fri night. The place was not crowded yet, but I had to use my phone light to read the menu. We ordered the prime rib and Stew in a bread bowl. Our drinks were a manhattan and IPA beer. Everthing was excellent until I got home. I found that I had gotten the wrong check, more expensive meals and 4 drinks. Figured the cost was $10 more than it should have been. Should have used my phone light to review the bill. Tried to call but no answer. read more

That is, a big dark bar where you can belly up for pints of Guinness as you watch a little footy on the telly. At best this place is 3 STARS! We went on a Friday night for the live music and dinner. The service was lackluster, but that wasn't; the main reason for the poor review. We got our drinks after 20+ minute after we ordered them, we then received our silverware only to discover one of the napkins wrapped around the silverware looked like it had been eaten by a mouse. The Pork Chops were very, very salty and to not include any apple sauce is like providing a burger with out condiments. At the end of our meal we tried to get boxes for the leftovers and the check but after 20 minuted our only option was to get up and find our waitress. BUT wait there's more! I had to chase her daw to pay the bill only to discover they have the balls to charge more for a CC without ever telling the customer. First time back since new ownership. Great place. The new owner is hands on and "gets it". Food was good, beer cold and it's going to do well. If you were disappointed under the prior ownership, make sure you give it another chance. Friendly neighborhood pub with excellent food and great live acoustic music on Fridays and Saturdays. The pretzel, the tacos, the Reuben and the Saturday night prime rib special are great. Families with kids, friendly bar patrons, a biker or two, and just that general mixed bag of friendly locals. Definitely worth your time. read more

My wife and I went to the Smugglers Den for the first time and were very satisfied. Great place to watch premier league soccer. Food was delicious. I had the shepherds pie and my wife had the lamb kebab. Both excellent. The waitress Sarah is a gem herself. Great place to go to have a change of pace from the typical Myrtle Beach restaurant. I travel to the UK quite often for work and when I say this is the best British food this side of the Atlantic-I mean it. The house soup that came with my meal was to die for and the spice from the chicken tikka masala burned so good in the best way. The owner and server were super nice and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend-come here. Eat all the food. You won't be disappointed. I am a big fan of British pubs and cultural food which is hard to find in this area. This restaurant exceeded my expectations. I had a Scottish egg and Steak Ale Pie which were excellent! My wife enjoyed Yorkshire pudding and a Greek salad that was large and fresh. Our cocktails were well made and service was wonderful. Great Restaurant! My husband & I just returned from Smuggler's Den in Murrells Inlet and we had a wonderful experience. The service was terrific and the food was delicious. The salads were very fresh and the dressings homemade We both had the steak & ale pie that was so tasty. As an added plus, the bartender actually put vodka in our drinks unlike the watered down garbage that many other establishments are using. We will be back!! read more

I have had two take always. First was perfect and delicious. Next one was not as good because they did not give me any dressing for the Greek salad. They said they would give It to me if I drove back to get it. It wasn't worth going back for just a bit of dressing. They did not ask me what kind of dressing I wanted when I placed the phone order. I assumed it would come with a dressing appropriate for Greek salad. Also ordered the steak pie. It was very delicious but for $20.00 I think it should have come with a side of some kind. The parking lot is not wheelchair accessible so I only get food to go Since I can't take my family. read more

So I finally got to go into this establishment. I ordered a drink which was good and ordered an appetizer Yorkshire Pudding I should of taken a picture it was two Popovers and 5 pieces of miniscule beef (size of a dime with brown gravy). They should serve one Popover and really give some Beef. Paid $9.50 for bread. I always order an appetizer in a new place and that will determine if I will go back. Very disappointed will not be going back. Checked out the prices on the entrees, very high. And if it's anything like the appetizer, not expecting much. read more

I have mixed feelings about our experience here. Food was good. Fish & Chips, Liver & Onions, Shepherd's Pie and the duck were all delicious. The Scotch Egg appetizer was good. We also had the Smuggler's Dip. When we asked for more bread for the dip we were told it would be an extra $2.99. Two of our dinners were supposed to have included a salad which never came. When it came time to pay the check we were told there would be a service fee to pay by credit card. The check for two of us with tip was $85. Felt a little nickeled and dimed. Heard great things about this new restaurant so we gave it a chance. We were not disappointed!! Great location and atmosphere. Best draw of Guinness that I've had in the last few years. The food was made fresh to order. I had to let the Steak and Ale pie cool for 5 minutes before I could eat. We are frequent UK travelers and I'd say that the food was equivalent to, if not better than, the pub fair we get across the pond. It was a little pricey, but we'll worth it.
