I eat a lot of pizza and Smugs is by far my favorite. Im always thinking about this place. Im constantly telling my friends how much i love it. If anyone tells me they dont like it I legitimately get offended and my respect for their opinion decreases. I know that sounds ridiculous but i cant help it. I always think to myself is Smugs closes i would be EXTREMELY hurt and annoyed. The crust is like no other. I never get the plain pepperoni..thats a rookie move. I get the tomato garlic. Whole pie. Or the olive artichoke if you aren't down with real toppings on pizza then you have the pallet of a child. I still need to get my smugs tattoo. This spot is one of my boyfriend & I favorite spot to go to when we are in the mood for some pizza and are on a budget. You can get a whole lot for less than 20 dollars. The vegetarian pizzas are so flavorful and every time the pizzas are fresh & warm. The owner is very kind and makes sure my visit is always a good one. I really wanted to like Smug's pizza. Several locals raves about it to me and I have been on a search for my go-to pizza spot since I moved here. But I found Smug's pizza to be average. It wasn't good or bad. It was just pizza. It seems like they have pretty good deals for lunch so if I go back it would be just to grab a slice rather than a whole pizza that will have a lot of leftovers. read more

Let me tell you that Smugs used to be the best place to go for pizza in Eureka California! They would spoil you crazy! You can get a pizza to go for only 15 bucks. You can get that pizza custom made in quarters. Well let me tell you, I went in to order my usual pizza: 1/2 Red sauce cheese, one-quarter pesto cheese, one quarter red sauce pepperoni olives and onions. I was immediately informed that I could not have my pizza the way I usually get it. They would not mix two different sauces on a pizza. I tried to tell him I get it that way all the time, but he was adamant. The last few times we called in an order to go, and the pizza came with mixed sauces, but they missed putting the pepperoni on my quarter . I am so disappointed! I am sorry, Iam not sure how this place stays open...I know it has a few other good reviews...but this is not good pizza, there are a couple of really good pizza options in Eureka, this is not good food, and the 'meal deal' is a neither a meal or a deal. Thank you Smug's Pizza for an awesome Pizza you gave us almost a year and half ago, on our way to the Redwoods National park. Smugs has a lot to be smug about with their cheap and delicious pizza. Fresh made and very reasonable make this a local favorite. Sold by the slice it's easily the best deal in town. What stops this from being five stars is the fact that you have to pay with cash or check only unless using the Food's here delivery service ($7 charge) read more

Great deals for the pizza you get. They may not be fancy or have lots of selection but if you are hungry and walking by great place to get a cheap slice of decent pizza. Pies are also cheap and costermer service is very good but if you want beer with that meal you'll have to get it somewhere else but with its location you can eat the pizza and stroll into a number of Eureka's alcohol serving establishments. My only real problem with the place is the Eureka location is not open late other wise it would be 4 stars. read more

Eureka!!! This pizza was superb! It was a perfect pizza stop as we headed up the coast. We ordered a sausage, chicken, pinapple and artichoke heart whole pizza. The sauce was perfect and it was perfectly seasoned. The crust was substantial with not too much dough. It was just a great pizza. read more

I have to edit my existing review because the food is going downhill and its a major bummer because its been consistently delicious for YEARS. :( WHAT IS GOING ON SMUGS?! Please don't be another eureka restaurant that turns for the worst! We got a pie last night and it just wasn't we expect from Smugs. I'd like to say that Smug's is five star pizza. They have a good gluten free crust option, however, I tried to call and place an order at 5:30. I called repeatedly for about fifteen minutes and no one answered. Since they state they are open until 6:30 I can only assume that they didn't want to answer the phone because they would have to work. read more

Very good service, awesome pizza, friendly staff. I like the simplicity of it all. The crust is amazing and i normally won't eat pizza crust. I love that is like a sided crust pizza in the way that the sauce is spread to the edge and then rolled inwards. It's a great deal for you'r money. Hot diggity damn. I love this place. They always have fresh slices of pizza on rotation. It's a quick in and out place, don't expect more from it. That's how I prefer it though! Their jalapeño and pineapple pizza is the bomb dot com. They have a simple menu with soda, chips or cookies as a side. It makes choosing easier, doesn't it? Update: Live From NY is better. The 4 star rating is weighted against the 5 other area pizza places I've tried. Smug's is the best of the lot, and the only one I'd go back to. In another city with better pizza offerings I'd give it 3 at most. Big greasy boardwalk pizza. That they close so early and don't deliver baffles me. The owner must not like money. read more

Smug's is pretty tasty. Sometimes the pizza is much too salty but I think that just depends on who is making it. Their slices are cheap and they have a lot of variety. It sucks that it closes at like 6-6:30 though. read more

I judge this place by my favorite pizza joint for the last 30 years, the Cheese Board in Berkeley. Yummy crust with their own twist! Great ingredients from what appear to be local sources nicely made into good pies. I like that they sell by the slice or pie but this place is primarily take out and they do it well.
