I've been hearing about this place for years, and I finally was able to try it. And all I have to say is I regret not visiting this place sooner! The food is AMAZING. I've never had anything like it. We ordered the sample platter and a bowl of the crispy chicken skin. It didn't come with sticky rice, so we ordered each person that as well. The sample platter was the way to go since I don't have much experience with this cuisine! However, I will say that the depth in the flavors was perfect. In my opinion, everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection! I mean, imagine this: it was so good we ordered another one of the crispy chicken skins. But then we ended up ordering extra papaya salad as well. In short, the food was so good we needed more. I would come back here again, and I highly recommend it. Tried their combo plate a few times - the one you'd usually expect them to throw in random not-so-popular items at a discount - not in their cases. Food was mostly exceptional - especially the bang bang shrimp and lemongrass ribs! Went for lunch on a Saturday and they were severely understaffed. Took about half an hour to get an order placed. Everyone was nice and they were doing the best they can, but management needs to have another server working at rush times to keep things manageable. The restaurant was also extremely cold and our food rapidly lost temperature. If they could solve this operational issues we would come more often, even though it's far - their menu is very impressive and the flavors were very authentic to what I've personally had in SE Asia! read more

I went for dinner towards closing and we got seated and served fairly quick. This restaurant was on the Michelin guide so we had high expectations and they did not disappoint! Everything is fairly priced and portioned to share. All the dishes came out together. Every dish complemented each other and it was a balance of something sweet, savory, and sour. The only item they didn't have that we wanted were the clams unfortunately. My favorite was the Laap with fried fish, Minced meat salad tossed with toasted sticky rice powder, Chill, Fresh herbs, Wine juice, and fish sauce. It had a sour taste to it but was addictive. Snackboxe was interesting because I feel like there were such clear tiers in the food we ordered. The khao poon, crispy fried pork belly, chicken wings and laap chicken were all delicious, and had I just had that, this would probably be a five star experience for me. The ham patties, Lao sausage, and cured pork sausage were all okay - I didn't hate them, but I wouldn't order them again. They were a bit bland and nothing special. I feel similarly about the squid on a stick - kind of a gimmick, and tastes just like slightly worse calamari imo. The Kua mee (stir fried noodles) were quite bad and tasted like stale oil - not sure if that was just a blip in quality, but I personally wouldn't order it or eat it again. (overdue review) Heard so many good things about Snackboxe Bistro from our GA friends so I knew my bf & I had to try it while we were in town! The laab (larb) was perfect & hit the spot! Pretty sure my bf ate it all lol. Now, the nam khao.. I was craving it really badly & was so excited to dig in but I found that the rice balls might have been fried too long? Not sure, I do like mine crunchy but it was getting stuck in our molars and we couldn't really enjoy it as much as I'd wanted to. Lao person here! Absolutely can confirm that Snackboxe is authentic and tastes just like momma's cooking. When the Doraville location closed, my friends and I low-key freaked out because we always have random cravings for their laab salmon and no one makes it like them. Glad to know that they have another location though, and we'd gladly make the drive for it. Our go to items beside the laab salmon are the steak special, lao sausage, fried squid (the kids' fave) and Khao piek sen. There are so many more items that we want to try, so we will always be back and we highly recommend you try it out! read more

Wow, I'm sad that I don't live closer! Such delicious food! We got the Lao platter and it was amazing! The papaya salad could be a little better, maybe needs a bit more fish sauce and sugar? The eggrolls were perfectly crunchy though I wish there was a little more filling. I almost took off a star because they didn't have the pandan brownies! We arrived 2 hours after they opened and were told someone bought both trays that morning. It just means they are THAT good. The customer service was excellent! I'm a huge fan of the original location in Doraville. I'm bummed to see that one has closed, but glad they still have the Duluth location. I visited with my parents and son for lunch. We were greeted and seated right away. We ordered the following: Iced coffee $5 Shrimp ceviche $15.60 Shrimp laap $16 Crispy tofu salad $9 Squid on a stick $10 The iced coffee was perfectly creamy and sweet. Most of the dishes were as delicious as I remembered! Full of flavor and textures. However, the laap was very salty; both the shrimp and the beef. It was not enjoyable. We also asked for the ceviche and papaya salad in the platter to not be spicy, but they were still very spicy. I can handle spicy food and quite enjoy it, but my parents cannot and they couldn't eat much of it. All in all, Snackboxe Bistro is a solid spot and I would get everything again except for the laap. read more

I love the food here and the service was decent. This is a nice restaurant on the end of a strip mall. It is very hard to spot but it is a good place to eat. It is modest put the food is full of flavor and you can tell they really care. No gimmicks, just great food. First time here, 4.5 overall and the food was very good and authentic! Could definitely taste Southeast Asian flavors! We got the LAAP with fried fish, lychee nectar, and the sausages for a side dish. The LAAP is slightly minty, with red onion and herbs minced with your choice of meat. The fried fish was very strongly seasoned, so the herbs definitely helped with softening the flavors. My friend got the LAAP with pork belly, and the portion was massive, enough for 2 meals. Really enjoyed these dishes. Another really delicious dish was the sausages, the meat is grilled with lemongrass so you can taste it in the sausage. It was also not greasy at all, highly recommend getting these! The lychee nectar was good but nothing special, canned lychee with some sweet lychee juice mixed with water. This place has been on my list of "must try!" restaurants for a long time, and my husband and I finally made the hike from south Atlanta to Duluth! It was worth it! The place is small but decorated very well, and there is outdoor seating available in the warmer months! Parking is easy. The staff was all very friendly! We felt welcomed as soon as we came in, and we were treated very well by everyone. On to the most important: the food! We had the vegetable eggrolls, the curry noodle soup, and the kua mee. The eggrolls were delicious. Crispy on the outside, soft and savory on the inside. My husband loved the curry noodle soup. I was surprised that the kua mee was about room temp, but it was a wonderful surprise. It was like a savory noodle salad, and I loved the cilantro and lettuce that added extra freshness. So sad to hear that their other location closed. Snackboxe is a great addition to the Asian cuisine in Duluth, especially since there aren't many Laotian restaurants! I love that the menu has pictures, which is perfect for somebody that is new to this cuisine. I always get the khao poon, which is a perfect soup-like consistency with so many layers of flavor. It is very aromatic and strong, but I like the flavor more and more with every bite. They give you a good amount of noodles and protein, so I'm still full a while after the meal. Everything here was so good, flavorful and well-cooked. There were zero complaints about anything we had and every dish was well-executed. Snackboxe Bistro is a quaint little restaurant with a lot of Laotian decoration. My friends and I got there later in the evening, so because it was not as busy, the service was just okay. I ordered the Pork Belly Combo and shared the Khao Chee with my friends. I did not know what to expect with the Khao Chee, but it is a crispy egg omelette with sticky rice. It tasted alright, but it did not have a strong flavor to it. The Vegetable Egg Roll in my combo plate was pretty good, but I thought the Pork Belly was a bit too fatty? It might have been because I got there late so maybe the remaining batch of Pork Belly were the lower quality cuts. I also thought the Papaya Salad was really spicy. I can usually handle spice and I think I got a more mild spice level, but it had such a strong kick that I was unable to taste the Papaya Salad. A lot of the dishes here are great for sharing, so I usually get the pork belly and nam khao for 2 people to share and have sone left overs. It doesn't come with rice or anything, so getting a side of sticky rice helps if you're looking for carbs. We tried the bang bang prawns today too, which was really good. The batter is is so light and crispy. A little sweet and creamy. Delicious. A lot of the dishes are around $15-20. Service is good and food always comes out fast. It was a cold night and it was not busy but the server was uninterested and didn't care. My husband ordered a vegetarian dish and I got the Pho. was a bit on the sweeter side and was not my choice. They were out of some items that evening. The server was not really interested in offering alternatives and left us to figure it out to ourselves. The location in Doraville was one of our regular spots since they opened. Our out of town family members come every time they are in town. So it was sad to hear they closed the OG location. The Saturday we came they were clearly understaffed. We tried to place an order on the website but it never went through despite our multiple attempts (we found out later that they were pausing orders due to being so behind orders). We tried calling and no one picked up (when we waited for our order, we saw that the phone was never picked up because no one was manning the front, and if they were up front, they were trying to figure out people's delayed orders). We ordered, waited 15 min, left to get something down Pleasant Hill, came back, and our food was still not ready yet. 1 hour later and our 2 dishes were still not done yet. We ended up canceling our order. I don't blame the staff, they were doing their best and clearly overwhelmed. I went here on a rainy evening on a Tuesday and there really wasn't anyone in there. I was on a mission to try Laotian food and I was pleased! My friend and I tried the platter for $38 and it came with egg rolls, two chicken wings, noodles, a spicy salad mix, pork cutlets, and what I believe to be ground chicken or pork. ( I didn't look at what it was on the platter breakdown lol.) Either way, it was very good. My least favorite item on the platter was definitely the sausage. It had a flavor that didn't sit very well with me, it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. It's certainly an acquired taste. The pork cutlet wasn't really my favorite either. Honestly the ground meat that I had was the best. It was super flavorful and paired very well with the sticky rice! Our service was excellent! So i'll definitely be back to try other menu items. Plus, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this restaurant was Michelin recommended! I've always loved this restaurant. Their food never fails to impress me. Everything tastes amazing. It's real Lao food! I used to get their grilled squid, but when I went yesterday, it wasn't on the menu. I really hope they can get more squid and bring it back soon. Dropped by for lunch with my little family. Sorry to say it was our first time. Wish we would have tried sooner but it just never happened. Upon entering we were greeted with the host/waitress. There was only one person working the front at that time. They weren't too busy and we were able to seat ourselves. Loved the decorations and ambiance of the restaurant. Looking at my pictures you'll see we tried a few items from the menu including sampler platter, steak special, pho, fried squid, and both cooking styles of the bao. The sampler platter came with sticky rice and was definitely enough for two people. We treated it more like our appetizer. LOL. I loved how we were able to try an abundance of options from just one dish. This is as authentic as you're going to get besides having someone's auntie or you make it yourself. The restaurant isn't huge, and is kind of tucked away in a corner that isn't very noticeable, but it's so tasty, there were lots of people that visited when we were there on a random Wednesday for lunch. Here's what I had and man do I recommend everything: Grilled Squid - The grilled squid comes with a spicy dipping sauce, but it was grilled with some sort of marinade and it's delicious with or without imo. But if you want the extra spice and flavor be sure to dip it! Papaya Salad - Shredded green papaya salad with garlic, tomatoes, spicy red chili peppers, fish sauce, and lime juice. The spicy papaya salad was impressive! As it wasn't insanely sweet like a lot of Asian restaurants make it here in the states. Khao Poon - Khao Poon is a spicy red coconut curry vermicelli rice noodle soup. It is served with with pork and chicken at Snackboxe bistro. I have to say - this noodle soup is SO GOOD!!! 5 stars for sure! The flavor of the soup was so delicious, and I must say it does have a kick to it so if you don't like your food with some heat, you might have to ask for some adjustments.
