This place has a unique and ornate vibe, an extensive menu (the paper version of which can be a little confusing; you need to use the digital version for descriptions), and good, quick service. They encourage you to use your phone to order and pay from your table, which works well enough. I only got to try the panang curry with seafood, and found it quite good, though the portion was a bit small for the price. Still, the quality of the seafood was high, and the meal was satisfying. As extensive as the menu is, though, they don't really have many stir-fry + rice dishes (like pad pak), which are usually my go-to with Thai food, so while I would return, I probably won't do so often. read more

A great spot on Buford hwy for authentic Thai food! We came with some friends on a Wednesday night and it was moderately busy but there was no wait. Alex and I decided to share their massaman curry and pad see ew and I also got their nom yen as a drink to try something new. Unfortunately I HATED the nom yen lol so I'm just gonna stick to Thai tea next time but the food itself was delicious!! The massaman curry was definitely my favorite of the two dishes and I thought the heat was perfect, but the pad see ew was great if you want a noodle option. We were looking for an authentic Thai restaurant and decided to give this place a try. The ambiance definitely had an authentic Thai feel, although it was little unusual that the restaurant prefers customers to place their orders online. On thing vegetarians should be aware of is that while we specifically wanted dishes without fish sauce, we were told that all of the curries are made with oyster sauce, so this may not be the right place if you strictly avoid those ingredients. The food itself tasted good, but the portion sizes were disappointing for the price. Our vegetables noodle dish had surprisingly few noodles, and the green curry came in a fairly small bowl. Tum Pok Pok, a restaurant I've visited a few times since its opening, has consistently delivered average dishes. The photos here showcase items I've tried during my visits. Despite my hopes, the food has never truly impressed me. One major disappointment is the roast pork. Unlike the crispy roast pork found in Chinese restaurants, this version is hard and chewy. The roti canai was decent, but nothing extraordinary. The fried fish cake was unique and enjoyable. However, the chicken skewers were dry and unappetizing. The mango salad was okay, while the pad kee mao and pad see yew are safe bets. The service is decent, but it can be slow during peak hours. Orders are placed by scanning a QR code at each table, and payments are also made through the same platform. When the restaurant first opened, it had a collection of "Tum Pok Pok" stickers that customers pasted all over the walls and tables. However, after a few years, these stickers have become a source of concern. We ordered Tom Yum soup cup to share, it was enough for 2 as a quick appetizer. Tangy with tomatoes mushrooms and tofu, was a little saltier than we like it to be. My husband ordered fried rice with veggies, it was delicious and well made. I ordered massaman curry with beef. Curry base was amazing, beef was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Way too many potato cubes and whole peanuts. Would not order again. A bit smaller portion sizes than we are used to. Went to Tum Pok Pok to celebrate my friends birthday and had super delicious Thai meal. I've been here in the past when they first opened and the portions were very small but they have since elevated their portion sizes. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was giving me young and fun, with a twist of cool nostalgic retro Thai vibes. They were playing Thai pop music playing in the background that really set the mood and they were playing very upbeat Thai music in the restroom that gave you a club like party vibe. We ordered through a QR code at the table, but our server was still very attentive throughout the night. We started with a few appetizers to share with the table and a few entrees. Every dish had authentic Thai flavors that reminded me of my last trip to Thailand. Appetizers: Tod Man Pla (fish cakes): my all time favorite no matter where I go. The flavor was not overwhelming at all with the perfect blend of curry paste and strong kaffir lime leaf flavor that makes Thai fish cakes so special. The sweet dipping sauce that came with it was a perfect touch. Tao Huu Tod (fried tofu): very basic, probably would not order this again. Tofu was diced into very small cubes and lightly fried, but the sauce that it came with was nice. Moo Tod (fried pork): very juicy, and crispy, with a lot of flavor. Personally I thought there wasn't enough of a meat to fat ratio. Tum Thai (papaya salad): the ingredients were very fresh but because we didn't order it spicy (had some people that couldn't handle spicy), some of the flavors were not able to elevate the dish. If we had gotten it spicy I'm sure it would have been superior. Still very good! Main course: Tom Kha (Coconut Soup): ordered the hotpot version and the soup was very rich and creamy with coconut and had a good amount of mushrooms, tomatoes, and chicken. Only issue I had with the dish was, the metal spoon they gave us to scoop with. Wish they had a small ladle or something easier to distribute the broth. Pad Thai: The noodles were perfectly cooked with just the right chew (I don't like them too soft so they were perfect) and the sauce had that perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors. The portion was quite generous and the mix of textures from the crushed peanuts, fresh bean sprouts, and lime on the side complimented the dish very well. Green Curry: was very vibrant in color (which threw me off at the beginning but the flavor was there. It wasn't spicy or too overwhelming with the taste of coconut milk like some places. This is a Thai street food restaurant. They said it not me. I've never been to Thailand, but I had preconceived ideas about the food. There are a few designated parking spaces in front of the restaurant. You don't have to park in the designated spots. Inside the restaurant it's decorated with memorabilia. You order and pay for your food from the QR code. Food comes out fairly quickly. I have to mention that you will have to ask for a stray and napkins. Also for street food items I think everything was overpriced. And there is a fee attached along with tax. My lunch bill came up to $43. Food was alright. The menu is not big and I much prefer that. We ordered the crab egg omelette came with rice on the side, fish cake to snack on while waiting for entree to arrive, crispy pork belly with rice and khao soi. While waiting I could hear, from the kitchen, loud banging noise of the wok, that signals good tasting food is on the way NOTE: do not order khao soi if you're allergic to peanuts. The sauce contains peanut butter. I love all that we ordered. I didn't try khao soi because.... The omelette came hot and big portion. I didn't see much crab in it but I love a good wok fried egg. Would've loved more crab. A bowl of rice came with it. The crispy pork belly came sitting with rice. The pork belly was crispy even though it was sitting in sauce. A little crispy a little sweet, yum. The fish cakes were thicker than the usual ones we would get in Thailand and they were tasty. I especially love the piknampla ( in fish sauce),, it's so good I finished everything in that little consignment jar. Be warned, it's spicy. I've never had Tom Ka with tomato it made the soup extremely sour giving it a unpleasant aftertaste. The chicken was as extra dry . On a QR code, you open a tab and keep ordering until you close your tab. I like that I can order anything whenever I want and receive it in that order. Prices were fair. The 15% service fee is perfect, although I tipped an additional 3%. The menu is difficult to choose from if you're unfamiliar with Thai food as a whole. I had strangers ask what I was ordering. The roti curry, I wish there was more substance to it. It's just boring liquid curry and roti for $9. The warm mango sticky rice was really good. The tom kha soup was better than other restaurants. I got S4 Guay Tiew Nam Sai (Noodle Soup) while my aunt got their V24 Kao-Pad (Thai Fired Rice) price w/ shrimp. Having had a lot of heavy meals prior, I wanted a light clear broth and that's certain what mine was. Perhaps a little too light for what I wanted but luckily there are the 4 side sauces you can easy add to the dish. But be careful, the chili peppers certainly carry a kick. I love all things Thai but to have a hip restaurant offering an expansion of this cuisine with a street food flare is a rare find. When you are seated you just scan the QR code and order what you want and pay for it. A service charge is already included (basically a gratuity) in the price. Seating was spacious so we didn't wait long to be seated. We had the pan-see-ew noodles with your choice of meat. These are the flat noodles bathed in an umami brown sauce with some sliced veggies. This was so good I was stealing bites from my daughter when she wasn't looking. Texture was a perfect mouthfeel without being too chewy or starchy. We also had the classic massaman curry with tofu (again you can choose the protein). With a side of jasmine rice the sauce was a deep orange color and was bursting with flavor. Would recommend getting this on the mild side because it was quite spicy. For appetizers we tried the flat bread with curry sauce. Served with wedges of a grilled flat bread with a dipping sauce reminiscent of turmeric and cumin but not overly bitter. The base to the massaman curry but lighter in taste which works well with the bread. Also tried the tum thai which is green papaya bath in fish sauce, cilantro and scallions. They serve a lot of dishes with a small wedge of cabbage which was a perfect pairing to the tart heat of this dish. Also tried the glarb gai which is a crumbled ground chicken imbibed with lemon, fish sauce, scallions and spices. This also paired well with the cabbage wedge and was a satisfying bite. I saw a bunch of couples ordering the hot pots which also looked like fun (perfect for a date night). Altogether I absolutely loved the food and will be back many more times! read more

You can find Tum Pok Pok at 5000 Buford Hwy NE Atlanta, GA 30341. This is the shopping center directly behind Food Terminal and on the left when facing City Farmers Market. There's tons of free parking but it can get pretty filled up during prime times. I don't believe there's another Atlanta restaurant that focuses on Thai street food? In any case this unusual restaurant is a favorite, both for the variety of Isan dishes and flavors, and the welcoming interior decor, which is a mix of Asian Kitsch and Thai market with plenty to observe and examine everywhere you gaze. I've eaten here many times, including the first week it opened. Most recently sampled the Pad See Yew with chicken and the delicious Somtum. I recommend all the papaya salad you can stand and if you like it extra umami, get it with the real fish sauce (it's pungent but oh so good!). Service is always exceptional here, even when it's busy and it's often quite busy - plan to hit it early afternoon. They also allow you to bring your own alcohol - I always travel here with a couple of cans of sour fruity beer which works exceptional well with the food. All of the curries are exceptional and they'll make it spicy if you ask. read more

They have a doorbell system on their table and if you need anything, you just press the button. I am a member of the Tasting Collective and one of the chef's at a seating recommended this as one of their favorite restaurants. I came on a Sunday around 2-3 pm and it was pretty quiet with only a few tables filled. The restaurant is quite big and it is self serve via Toast but there's also a buzzer you can ring the staff for more assistance. On to the food - I tried the Pad Thai Chicken just to get a baseline but also tried their Larb with some crispy rice in it which was my favorite. The portions were very generous and definitely could feed two for multiple meals. I hate soggy noodles but the Pad Thai had a good chew and flavors were delicious. We all want to like this place. Cool ambiance and dishes from Northern Thailand that I've never tried before. I looked over their online menu before arriving so I could see what new dish to try. The online menu's descriptions are taken from another website and some of the dishes were unclear about the protein options. I figured the menu in person would explain a few more things or I could ask questions when I got there. You have to order through a QR code and goes to the same online menu and if you have questions you use the "call button" to get a real person to come to your table. You'll end up paying 15% for the option of a person to come to your table and drop off food. But don't expect them to bring drink refills for 15%. They do have a paper menu but it has tiny photos and no dish descriptions so it's pretty useless. They use up an absurd amount of print space to list every alcohol they have so you can tell what their priorities are. This would be ok if the food was good but it was all mediocre. The only positive thing about this place is that no one is pressuring you to order more from the menu or leave to flip the table. So go here if you want to sit a while in a nice environment. Two stars for the ambiance. There are much better places to eat if you want good food. read more
