Beer selection is great and ever changing. Sausages selection ranges from standard to exotic to vegan. I chose the vegan option, because I'm a pussy. Pretty sure they use Field Roast sausages, which are among the best out there. I loved mine. Fries are hand cut and phenomenal. Very cool bar with great service. My boyfriend and I walked here during snowmageddon and were very pleased with the level of service. We met the friendliest bartender in the world. I walked in expecting to love this bar. It is in the middle of a residential area which is one of the things that I love about the Canton and Greek town area-all the little restaurants and bars mixed into neighborhoods. It has a slightly German sausage haus mixed with an artsy, chill vibe which really appeals to my Austin roots. However, the service and food left a bit to be desired. My friends got the hush puppies and only ate one; without adding a ton of sauce they're pretty dry. I got the Mac and cheese which was definitely the highlight-delicious!I was excited for the brussels sprouts but they were just a pile of mashed sprouts with grease, garlic, and onion powder. The truffle fries were okay. I didn't have the sausages and that's their claim to fame so maybe those are delicious. Honestly what really got me, aside from the unfriendly service from the bartenders and cooks, was that the cooks were reaching into drawers of Brussels sprouts and fries with their bare hands and grabbing piles of raw food to cook up for our enjoyment. They have an open kitchen so you can watch it while you wait...and while you eat, which was my mistake. If they had just put gloves on, I think this review wouldn't have been written in the first place. read more

Awesome I had the rabbit rattlesnake! I've had rabbit before but not rattlesnake. First time for everything. It was delicious and quite a few options for sausages. It's been a marketable area for some time, it just took some time for some awesome entrepreneurs to mark their land/territory. My only complaint is that I have not visited Snake Hill sooner! I am vegetarian, and there were numerous options for me to choose from. I ordered the Chipotle Mexican Vegan Sausage, and my husband ordered the Mighty Duck Sausage- both were phenomenal. Also- the Kale Caesar Salad is amazing. They have an awesome beer selection as well as other drink options. Service was quick and friendly and the food was great- I highly recommend Snake Hill for dinner! read more

I love sitting at a different seat every time I come, and finding words in the custom scrabble letter bar top. They have assorted craft beers, no coors light here!! The food is decent as well! Had fried Oreos once, and buffalo tater tots. Both were specials on the menu, yum! read more

I was told about this place and that it would bite you once you tried the food. That was an excellent description of what the food does to you, it. It's you and you are filled with a venom of flavor. WOW, it's not even an appropriate word to describe this place. The sausage is outstanding, the drinks are tasty and the sides are killer! Out of all the items I ate tonight the Mac and Cheese is my go to meal. I ordered it as a side but MAN! It's my go to meal, I had. Hush puppies, Spicy Italian sausage, the duck bacon sausage and the fries. STILL the highlight is the Mac and Cheese. The atmosphere is wonderful and the music is inviting, how could you go wrong? You have to come and discover it yourself to show you how GOOD this place is. Well m so glad I live so close, but if I didn't I would drive or Uber here with no issues. We checked this place out last night and enjoyed the chill atmosphere and their beer selections. The place is kind of small and the tables were full when we first arrived but we were able to grab a spot at the bar shortly after. The bartenders were helpful at selected drinks and letting us try samples of the draft beer if we had wanted to try them. Their bar top is covered in scrabble pieces which added a fun element to the bar. Definitely a nice place to grab a drink if you're in the neighborhood or enjoy sausages since this seems to be the main thing on their menu. One of my favorite local bars. Parking is great because of the high turnover from Eastern Ave (the main drag through Highlandtown). Inside is small - one single floor with a bar and some larger bar height table at the back. The decor is fabulous, particularly the Scrabble tile bar top, which features a ton of hidden phrases. Also look out for the fortuneteller machine, the rotating art selection from local artists, and the hook-and-loop game at the back. On tap is a small but well-curated rotating selection of local and national crafts brews, including a $3 wildcard (you get what you get!). The cocktails are excellent, especially the house old fashioned which I reckon is Baltimore's best. Try begging your excellent bartender for an extra cherry. The schtick here is the food, which centers around gourmet sausages. Pick your favorite or go for one of the specials. The Pho Real is a personal fave and a must if you love Vietnamese food, while the DiPasquale is influenced by the famous Italian deli just around the corner. The onion rings are some of the best I've ever had, and finish up with the (now thankfully smaller) homemade peanut butter cup or the fried Oreo! read more

Snake Hill relies on its atmosphere and it has nailed fresh, hipster, beer drinking minimalist vibe with a 12 penny galvanized bright nail and a 20oz hammer. Walk in and be greeted by unfinished wooden walls, wallpaper made out of scrapped documents, and a Scrabble tile bar. Food is rationally priced, you're ordering a glorified - and well assembled - sausage in a roll. There's nothing to complain about there. We had the Johnny and the Rico Sauve, both good. Wife went back up and acquired more of the green sauce for the Rico. Beer selections, here we're not doing all that well. Snake Hill has beers aplenty, but you're paying at least $5 (generally $7) for everything on tap. That's in line with trendy places in DC, but really pushing it for the area. read more

I am usually reluctant to give a 5 star rating because there is always room for improvement. However, I believe that Snake Hill deserves 5 stars. It was a first visit to the establishment. We were attending a function nearby and heard someone mention it was a decent place to go. So, I YELPed it and decided to go. We are really glad we ventured in. The atmosphere is fantastic and the Bartender (Dude with New Oriole hat) was awesome. We liked the vegan options on the menu and our Nattie Boh bottle caps were saved for us. This place is great. just moved from brewers hill to the highlandtown side of the park and this place is quickly becoming my new favorite neighborhood bar. the bartenders are great as is the food and drink selection. it's a small joint and there is no wait staff (you place your order at the bar and pick up your food yourself if sitting at one of the side or back tables) so i suggest coming early if a more hands on approach is your thing. read more

Stopped in for the first time this past weekend, been wondering where this place was since I own a house just a couple blocks away so we walked over and it was way easier to find that way since it's on a corner mostly facing the alley behind the behemoth condos new being built where Hausner's restaurant used to be. Yes it's a fairly small and narrow space but the food is incredibly good, fresh, inexpensive and fast. Started with the truffle fries - my wife took one bite and said "Mmm, great choice." She (who's not a big sausage fan) also loved her Green Goddess (lamb sausage with a delicious tzatziki-style topping). I had the special, which was chicken-chipotle sausage with hot peppers and fried onions (on a great bun, kind of a brioche-type roll all warm and crisp) and it brought tears to my eyes and I mean in a really good way. I also had the "wild card" beer (for $3, are you kidding me?) since the bartender said it was a dark one today - it was the Couch Surfer Oatmeal Stout from Otter Creek and it was amazing on draft. Then I ordered the Burley Oak Bilsner mainly since I've never had their beers - nice lighter summer pilsner-style beer. Dessert was their signature no-bake chocolate peanut butter cup and for $2 it was a steal - we could've split one. Really friendly place, to me it captures the best of old-school Baltimore corner bars -- seemed to me like everyone was from the neighborhood when we were there -- with the best of today's bistro-pubs focusing on craft beer and great food. Oh, and you can buy the sausage and take it with you too - many many choices including 3 vegan when we were there. I sure hope they prosper but aren't overwhelmed by trend-seekers following good reviews, but I'd say get there soon because once that big new residential building opens right next door I expect to be jammed all the time... read more

Read about Snake Hill in the Baltimore magazine, and I was intrigued. Had an appointment yesterday over in the area, so I made my way over here afterwards. The restaurant is off the main drag (Eastern) in a neighborhood - it used to be an Irish bar. Love the use of different woods for wall coverings, stand-up eating space and the bar. I was torn about which sausage to order, and in the end, went with the Pho Real. It was definitely Pho-like and delicious. Bean sprouts, cilantro and hoisin sauce topped a crispy sausage and the half-order of onion rings were delish. As everyone says, the beer selection is diverse and I noticed some local distilleries' liquors on the shelves. I wish the portions of the sausage toppings were doubled or tripled - the magazine pics were over the top stuffed and fluffed full of crunchy good things. That's the only recommendation I have for improvement. I took home the cheddar dog and had that for dinner - more traditional with sweet peppers and fried onions - one word...Yum! read more

Always on the lookout for good vegan options, A discriminating friend brought me here for a quick lunch. A first time visit for both of us. We both had vegan dogs (cooked perfectly which is slightly crunchy on outside and warm and soft inside) served on vegan buns. Great choice of mustards and we shared some wonderful freshly fried onion rings which were admirably crispy. The great dark beer, locally brewed, which was on tap, was perfect. This place has a relaxed atmosphere and great vibe. Can't wait for a return visit! read more
