I'm joining this facility today after having met with Arthur the owner last week for a walkthrough. The gym appears to me to have everything any fitness facility should have and it's new, clean and well thought out. There are only a few things missing: a heavy bag, a speed bag and ring - The two floors OF features included: showers, sauna, pool table and massage chair for relaxing before or after a workout. Had a great run with Snap Fitness, but got kicked out due to being on Social Security. Admin. thought it was not worth it to provide the gym to seniors at what the SSA was paying for monthly dues. Very disappointed in what seemed an extremely small discrepancy in monthly dues. I didn't realize how much wear and tear seniors put on gym equipment. Some of the machines are worn out, not well maintained. Restrooms are not ideal, periodically unkempt-gym towels for machines run out once in a while. On the good side; it's 24 hours which is great. I started going to this gym in August 2021 and love it. This is a rather long review because I noticed so many old reviews that are negative and they are not what I experience, ever. I workout three times a week and it is a wonderful gym! They have plenty of cardio equipment, and just this month they installed brand new machines (Feb. 2024)! There is also an excellent selection of weight machines for all the muscle groups and an upstairs with an open floor that is great for doing group workouts, stretching and classes. There are also plenty of free weights if that is what you prefer. Honestly, all you have to do is see the young men that come in to workout (the manager, Arthur, being the most obvious one), to realize that you can body build with their equipment easily. Arthur doesn't go workout at a different gym to get the size and strength he has! He does it right there at Snap-Poulsbo! If you don't know how to use some of the equipment, you can always ask the staff that are there, but I have found it much more rewarding (and safer for me) to hire a personal trainer. It is much more affordable here than any other gym I have ever gone to. As a matter of fact, I have never hired one before I came here because the prices were so high at other places. I have trained with two of them and they were incredibly knowledgable and careful with my limitations. They understand dealing with injuries and how training changes as we get older. That was great for me since I have both issues! I learned a lot about my body, nutrition and current theories on fitness, too. They carefully listened to my issues and limitations and accommodated them into the workouts. To my utter surprise, as a result of weight training with them for just a few months, I was finally free of muscle pain that I had been dealing with ever since COVID. (I used to get terrible muscle cramps in the middle of the night in my back, hips and thighs.) I gained the muscle I needed to keep my joints properly aligned when resting. I never would have thought that gaining muscle would get rid of muscle pain, but it did! They make a GREAT use of space and keep the gym clean and up to date. I really love the fact that they took over a space that is inlaid with BEAUTIFUL tiles all over the downstairs area and bathrooms. The first time I walked into it I thought it used to be a bank. It makes for an elegant ambiance that is exquisite and warm. I think it makes the gym far more enjoyable as a result! I have never seen a problem with broken equipment, and I go up to the gym 3 times a week. I don't know what all the complaining is about from some of the other reviewers. I notice a lot of those reviews were made during the COVID shutdowns, so perhaps there were issues with getting parts and maintenance workers out to the gyms to fix issues? I certainly haven't seen any since I have been going. Staff is always present during business hours (9am to 8pm), but the doors are always locked, but only for people that don't have a member card that unlocks the doors. This is a great way to police who is going in and out of a business that is open 24 hours. Those of us that are members appreciate having locked doors! And there are also security cameras all over the inside and outside of the business to record people that might try to create problems. Bootcamp is especially awesome because there is such a strong bond between the members - and they come from ALL walks of life. There is real camaraderie, probably because they all are friends now even though many of them met as a result of going to the class. I have participated in some of these classes and really love them, but my schedule keeps me from being able to do that regularly. We always had a fun time even though we were worn out. There are always fun get-togethers, monthly "Challenges" where members can earn cash and rewards, and even some "outings" where members get together to go on hikes and adventures. You learn about those things as a member that works out regularly. It is a small gym, but that is what I love about it. Like I said, you still have all the equipment to get a thorough workout, but you get to know people and be part of the community. It is more than just a place to get a workout in. It is a place to spend time with others, too. You get fit in both mind and body! I really love that. Maybe that isn't for everyone, but here in Poulsbo we really value each other and community is important to us. I wish some of the other people that go regularly to Snap-Poulsbo would write some reviews here, but most people just don't think about it. I am sure they wouldn't keep going there month after month and year after year if they didn't love this gym and the people that run it! Without the awesome staff, it would not be the same gym, truly. Love this gym for a few reasons: one, there are plenty machines to use. My old gym was smaller and clouded and made me feel claustrophobic. Two, this place is clean and new (except someone dropped a piece of gum under the stair stepper hidden away from the vacuum machine that I found today). Three, there are tv access in case gets bored while running on machines (except no longer tennis channel subscription). Four, plenty of parking spaces. Again, my old gym did not have enough parking spaces which caused so much headaches every time visited the place. This is not a very nice gym. It's in the showroom of an old tile store. They layout is bizarre and the gym equipment is crammed all over the place in uncomfortably small nooks and corners. The entire space is covered with strange, different tiles. No one is ever on duty. It feels dirty. But hey, it's Poulsbo. It's open 24 hours. I was willing to work with it. Then the pandemic struck. I was going to cancel my membership. I called and got an answering machine instead. They weren't going to charge anyone for April. Great. I waited a month and called again to cancel or pause my membership. No one answering the phones again. There was a strange message about an "improvement fee" and how you had to opt out. They said they sent members an email to opt-out. I check my email. They didn't send an email. I checked my bank account. They charged me $38.15. I finally reached the manager, Arthur Thomas. I asked him why I was charged. I scoured my inbox, my SPAM folder. No email. I said it wasn't right to charge when the email wasn't sent, not to mention they never explained an "improvement fee" in addition to the monthly dues. More importantly, why should any of us pay an improvement fee for a gym that is indefinitely closed during the pandemic?! I tried to cancel my membership and they don't even have a cancellation option on their website, even though every other aspect of the account can be managed there?! Obviously it was architected to take advantage of customers, as evidenced by the other reviews here where people mention Arthur the manager by name and say he would not cancel their membership and played games. Through all these things, Arthur couldn't have been more rude and flippant. I was trying to work with him to eventually come back as a customer. Instead, he has ensured that not only that I will never patronize them again, but for the low and easy price of $38.15, I get to evangelize my real-life story on Yelp and all over Poulsbo, and ensure the gift of bad service keeps giving them lost revenues. Arthur, a career in customer service was not meant for you. As for the owner, Aleta Gibson, how you could make such a rude person the manager of your establishment mystifies me. It's alright for an after work gym. The downfall is there isn't a public drinking fountain or even filtered faucet for those who want to get a sip of drink. Kind of weird for a gym, right? They do try to sell water to you though through the vending machine about $1 a bottle of water. I've probably only seen one chick receptionist everyday when I come, she's friendly and nice. As for equipments, I'm an only cardio person so they've got a few of the machines I use. If you're looking for something else like weights and mat room to do other stuff, I'd advise you to look else where. I believe there is a room upstairs that they hold some classes in, never attended any myself. It's average imo, but those who come aren't expecting it to be the grand ole YMCA anyway! read more

There's nothing much for me to say. The membership is affordable, the gym has everything I could need, and nothing is better than the hours.

High priced storage unit. They keep some weights there but most equipment is dilapidated and barely functional.

Beautiful space to workout in with friendly staff and community. Limited equipment that is consistently breaking and not maintained/repaired. It saddens me to move onto another gym because I enjoy the space and the people (and it's 24hr access)! But they've had one working spin bike between their two locations, and it's been like this for years. They recently redid a walkway downstairs, but have been seriously neglecting their equipment maintenance and almost everything squeaks, gets stuck, or is broken. Broken seats and cables aren't marked-out for safety (not even a post-it note), and that equipment stays on the floor indefinitely. Weight plates are cracked and still used. Even the bathroom doors don't lock. Because most machines aren't working, there's usually a wait for free weights (and the stuff that does work) and quick sets can take a long time - even with 10 people or less in the gym. I'll come back and try snap again in the hope that they can focus less on sales/personal training and more on providing basics. I can't invest monthly dues and club enhancement fees without having access to basic working equipment, when there's better options for 1/4 the price nearby. I also don't want to hurt myself. Please fix your stuff so I can come back someday! read more

This place is a friggin joke. The only thing it has going for it is 24 hr access. Equipment and benches are falling apart, the facility is really dirty, don't even dare use the restrooms or showers, they are absolutely filthy. Strange people here at night in the kitchen area - not even working out - just on their PC's. Can't wait for the Y to open in a couple years. Not recommended unless you absolutely need 24 hr access like I do, unfortunately. read more

I've been to many different gyms; from Gold's to LA Fitness in places such as Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Miami. So my advice to anyone seeking a place to workout - know your workout, and tour the place before signing. Now for myself; I don't need lockers; don't need a water fountain; and don't need a variety of heavy-weights and powerlifting equipment. If you seek these things, go to the YMCA, because that is what they have. This place has all the equipment I need; TRX, bikes, treadmills, Smith machine, squat rack, various dumbells, and even bench press. I even have two places where I can super-set pullups and raised pushups. I've been here two years, and have seen individuals wanting to stack the bars with over 315lbs for deadlifting, squats, bench presses; and they never last very long here. This gym is for toning, shaping, and staying in shape. No bodybuilders here, nor strongest man competitors - just those who want to stay fit, and live a healthy lifestyle. Be aware, the crowd is an older group of people, and generally those who do not understand some of the accepted concepts and considerations most gym-goers utilize (space between each other; utilizing more than one equipment; sharing equipment) - so if you do not have a high tolerance level for those beginners, than you will get discouraged very quickly. read more

This gym is awesome! The equipment is new and clean and their staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They have a great TRX class with Andy, he really knows how to push you to your limits. Love that this gym is 24hrs! clean, nice cardio and resistance machines plus a whole area upstairs that feels more private so I use it for stretching and my free weight workouts. I received a free consultation with a PT when I signed up which I think is pretty nice! I travel a lot so I also value that I can use other Snap Fitness locations with my membership here. Terrible customer service! I cancelled my membership in June and they have continued to charge me every month since. I've emailed the owner who has left me with "she's looking into it" I'm so frustrated and will NEVER recommend this company! BYOB= Bring Your Own Bleach. I'm convinced the employees never actually clean the showers. And by clean I'm talking scrubbing down the surfaces so get rid of the visible mold growth. As far as I can tell, they just spray something and just leave it at that. So I just bring my own 10% bleach solution and give it a good spray and wait 5 minutes before I shower. Other than that, this gym is pretty solid. Even though they don't have lockers, I dont have to worry about my stuff being stolen, because it is so small and usually isn't full when I go. read more

Worst customer service I have ever encountered in my entire life. I encourage anyone in Poulsbo who is considering signing up to contact me directly for more information on this business. This is a scam managed by thieves and liars. Our credit card was not charged the amount we were quoted. A referral credit was not given to the individual who referred us. The employee was sleeping when we attempted to sign up. The employee proceeded to mess up our account during sign-up. Another employee offered to waive our contract due to these and other recurrent issues. Another employee said she wasn't willing to do this, and proceeded to misquote the policy. We have been overcharged, jerked around, and lied to REPEATEDLY. It took me over two weeks to reach someone in management, and he was incredibly rude and dismissive of any concerns. He openly stated that he did not believe me, or the member who pointed out that the employee was sleeping at work during posted business hours. I have filed a better business bureau complaint, and the manager laughed at me because he "didn't care." read more

I took a free month introductory offer, which I got online. During my tour, I noted that there were only two stall like showers, and two stalls for changing clothes - there are no locker rooms. Patrons leave whatever they bring in, in open shelf cubbies. The staff was friendly, the people who work out there too and everyone is conscious of keeping things clean. I was disappointed to find out that if I joined my monthly fees did not cover any classes. There were two or three zumba classes in a week and two or three tension band classes - called TRX. . . both required additional fees. This gym uses Matrix type weight equipment which seems to be tailored toward casual workouts, as I was able to max out on a number of machines in the month I was there, not having worked out in years before joining. There is a reasonable selection of free weights - but no cage for free weight squats. They do have a smith machine, where the bar slides up and down - this to ensure safety when there is no staff. There are three benches for free weight bench presses. There is a nice selection of treadmills, stairs, bicycles and ellipticals. There are quite a few tv monitors - it seems almost each cardio machine had one - so it's not boring if you plan a long cardio set. There is other equipment and enough free space to do other kind of workouts and stretches - since their zumba class room isn't used often it is available for people or groups of people to use on their own, plugging in their own music. The selection of music playing over loudspeakers was nice and helpful for a vigorous workout. They have a wi-fi and there is a kitchen and waiting area with tables - at one time I saw a parent bring their teen child there and the kid was sitting at the table playing on the computer while the parent worked out. I saw mostly younger people, a few older, a few dedicated weightlifters. I was able to use the equipment I wanted 90% of the time - at other times needing to wait for a bit, or use alternate exercise. The thing that really sold me on this place however was the energy and the access. This is a 24 hour access gym, which means that the patrons are spread out as far as when they come in. I liked coming in late - after seven - and late on weekends - which the other gym in Poulsbo does not offer. . . for people who don't have elaborate fitness routines, need the flex time for access (particularly on weekends), and want to spend a little less (not much less) over the other gym in Poulsbo - this is the place. I was also able to take advantage of the less tangible quality of energy in the place. for a while I used both gyms in Poulsbo, and the Snap Fitness gym has clearer and more invigorating energy . . . for me that made a difference . . . as I am just beginning to work out after years, I am now trying the other gym - Poulsbo Athletic Club - to see if the greater variety of equipment and classes they have - makes up for the access and energy that is better here. read more

I get the most amazing workout with Arthur who pushes us to see our own potential. This place is TERRIBLE! Once they got my credit card, they're taking my money long after I told them I am quitting. I told them in APRIL I wanted to quit. I WAS MONTH-TO-MONTH, but they still said they needed a full additional month. Okay, got screwed out of an extra month. $40 down the drain. NOW (JULY 3) I get a call from Poulsbo Snap Fitness asking why they are having trouble taking another $40 monthly payment from my account. This after numerous verbal and email notices I wanted out. I have it thoroughly documented. So they are THIEVES! Yeah, I said it. THIEVES! Now, as to the gym. It's okay. Just okay. Older equipment in okay shape. Everything is crammed in there. With one upper body machine, your arm actually scrapes the wall! (Dangerous when weights are involved) And there aren't nearly enough cardio machines. Don't get excited about free classes, because there aren't many. And don't go on a Sunday, when no staff is there all day. Toilets get clogged. Toilet paper is out. Filthy, disgusting gross mess. Shameful. And I was a fool to give them your credit card number. Good luck getting out of this relationship for less than one wasted month. Maybe three. There are good alternatives to this place.
