So walking into it, I had reservations about going into what looked like a restaurant but being pointed to a grocery store style open fridge with prepackaged food almost like tv dinner style. But once I was educated that the food is packaged for portion control and theres a microwave in the space- I warmed up a little. The food is expensive. I got a turkey sausage wrap and a quinoa pudding cup for $12.86. The food is tasty tasty. I could see how someone could easily break the bank on this place. The reward card is buy $500 worth of food get $20 back. When I raised my eyebrows, the cashier said its easy to do here- after he rang up my food I can see how! I would go there for a snack or juice/smoothie. I wouldnt get a whole meal there unless you are willing to spend alot and be hungry an hour later. This was my first time having snap kitchen and I was impressed. I got the lemon and garlic hummus and salmon dip. The hummus was very good but the dip was a tad bland. When walking in the employees were quick to offer help to find selections. They mentioned that if you download the app you can get food delivered. Im not sure what the price will be. In my opinion, this is the best Snap kitchen in Houston. It's the only one I've seen thus far that has its own kitchen, and you can also order customized salads there. They have a bigger selection to choose from and in more quantities so I never have to worry about my favorite small shrimp and chorizo paella running out. They also have a lot more snack options. Every time I walk in, the workers are always friendly and greeting me and offering to help. Never a bad attitude/experience. They also have a sitting area on the side where you can sit and eat if you're dying to consume your new meal right away. Parking is a breeze since it's located in a strip center. There are also designated spots for Snap customers so you don't have to worry about finding parking when Kata Robata is packed that night. I've eaten at or eaten meals from Snap Kitchen numerous times for years now. Heck, I was the first one to get free food from their Snap Funds card, way back when the Kirby store was the only Snap Kitchen location in Houston. This is one of the few places in town I will eat at. It's quality. The food is fresh, pastured, "clean," local, and nutritious. Local = the veggies retain more of their nutrients. Sometimes I'll get a big salad at the Kirby location, but, at numerous of their locations around town, I'll get some of the Paleo stuff or Paleo-friendly stuff. They have delicious beef and bison, and whip up some good beef, bison, and chicken dishes. They cook dishes I would not cook at home. That's a plus. Adds variety to my meals. I have been using this place for years. I love the food and the service. I started using them when they bought out another place I frequented. It allowed me to bring a healthy meal to work instead of eating fast food everyday. Over the years I lost a ton of weight that was kickstarted by places like this. It thought me proper portions and that eating healthy didn't have to be flavorless and sad. I still pick up meals here when I don't feel like cooking and don't want to fall into the eating out trap. I love snap kitchen. I'm using the word LOVE here... LOVE! 1. The staff: very pleasant. Not overly obnoxious and peppy, but always seem to be in a good mood, which I know isn't always easy. They are knowledgeable about the product, and are really good about asking if you need any help. They are always restocking their products, so you know its fresh! 2. The food: Fabulous! I get a small portion for lunch at least 3 times a week, since its right down the street from my office. There are tons of fresh and healthy options there, with a variety of food sensitivities, as well as vegan/vegetarian options. The salad bar is fabulous, but I really love the pre-packaged protein meals. The crunchy chicken with pesto carrots and chicken with chimichurri (spicier option) are my favorites! I also really like the naked beef. All of it is fabulous. The breakfast oatmeals are delish, as are the dinners. But for lunch----- Snap kitchen is my go-to spot! You have to check out the juices too. They are so tasty and refreshing in our miserable summer heat. They are a little pricey, but I get it. *** BROKE PEOPLE ALERT *** (this place isn't broke people friendly) These guys have it together. I pickup a week's worth of meals on Monday's, freeze everything, and thaw the-day-of. Works out perfect. I avoided them for about a year after they initially opened because their menu was too weird. They finally fixed it. Now, their menu has a focus toward Paleo-oriented meals that are typically gluten and dairy-free. This is perfect for my O-Blood Type Diet. Don't worry - if you're Vegan, Pescatarian, or Gluten-Free; they've got you covered. The food is well-prepared, tastes good, and stays fresh for several days. THE FOOD ALWAYS TASTES, GREAT. And I'm a food snob (Hey, I own a catering company so I'm entitled to my opinion!). The food is prepared so that it doesn't overcook when you reheat it so it ALWAYS REHEATS PERFECT. I've been to several locations, but the Kirby location is always stocked. They have the best supply & selection of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Snap Kitchen - I love it. It just works well for me. I love the serving size variety and the taste is fantastic. So far I have tried: Bison Quinoa Hash (great!) Goat Cheese Egg Scramble (ok, not amazing) Beef Stroganoff (superb!) Crispy Chicken and Vegetables (also superb!) Chicken Tiki Masala (amazing!) All of these were the "small" serving which average about 300 calories each and cost $6-$8 each. Price - I can eat very healthy on about $2 per meal if I made my own food. That would largely consist of some lean lunchmeat, fruit and some form of a rice cake type thingy. But that's very boring. I can't afford to do Snap more than 1-2 times a week, but it's a great treat. Also the convenience is great - their selection is wide enough that you are certain to find something that appears to you. The cost of a Snap lunch or dinner is calculated to be about the same as if you went out for a small lunch or dinner - about $7 for an entree. Shelf Life - these meals are very fresh and at most last 5-7 days in your fridge. They can be frozen, but I haven't frozen any yet. Taste - these are of course much better than frozen meals (see below) but not as good as say a meal from your favorite high end restaurant. Taste has to give way to nutrition but in this case, they taste very good for being as low cal as they are. My review is from the POV of someone who has had weight loss surgery, lost a ton of weight and is now trying to find a balance between nutrition / cost / convenience & serving size. I had the kind of surgery where the stomach is reduced permanently in size. It's drastic but it works and with diet and exercise I have lost a great deal of weight. Now, I am nearly at my life long goal and have been moving from my "diet foods" of turkey bacon, egg whites, strawberries and such and onto a wider selection of more normal meals. At first I went the Lean Cuisine route (and various types of frozen diet meals). Those aren't bad - so long as you pick and choose. I stayed with the higher protein meals, lower carbs and as low as sodium as I could find. I picked meals in the 200-400 calorie range and they average $3-$4 each. But you get tired of frozen food. I tried "my fit foods" but many of those were very spicy (my stomach is a little sensitive) but also almost as sodium as the frozen meals. Averaged about $6-$8 each. Also, the serving sizes were oddly enough too large for me. My stomach can hold about a 1-1.5 cups of food per meal so I need about 300-400 calories in that size. Weird, but it works. read more

I like the fact that they label items Gluten free or Paleo friendly. This flagship store offers more than most, with microwaves, indoor seating, and a full salad bar (um deconstructed bison cheeseburger salad w dressing and cheese on the side... YES). I appreciate that a lot of their food is locally sourced and organic if possible, and there are a wide variety of flavors and options for those with dietary restrictions. Makes it really easy when picking a meal. You can find me at anyone of the inner loop locations about 3 times a week, and sometimes more when I drive by the newly opened Montrose location. Here's the skinny...is the food good? It's decent, but it's not by any means gourmet or fatty. The concept is individually pre packaged foods that are usually 350 calories or less. They use mostly organic, whole foods, and stresses on gluten free, and mostly carb free. The food tastes fresh, good for you, and fast (you just microwave it). There are a wide variety of meals to choose from - vegetarians to meat eaters will be satisfied with the selections and choices they make. My coworker introduced me to Snap Kitchen a few weeks ago... I've been stopping at either the San Felipe location, the Montrose location, or Upper Kirby at least twice a week ever since! If you aren't familiar with Snap Kitchen and would love it if you could grab a filling meal on the go that aligns with your health and fitness goals, then you should get familiar with Snap Kitchen. STAT. :) They have "small," "medium," and "large" meal options, and all meals are labeled with the full nutritional content. I loveeeee. I visited the Upper Kirby location after my workout to grab dinner. They had so many awesome options, several that met my criteria: 250 calories, LOW sugar, low sodium, low fat.... (I was looking for low everything after all the pizza I ate yesterday...) As I was perusing the options, one of the staff members asked me what I was looking for and he kindly helped me out. I told him my strict standards for the evening. He suggested an entree that I wouldn't have otherwise considered (wrongly assuming it would be over 250 calories). I had the Beef Stroganoff with spinach and it was great! It was 240 calories, and only 2 grams of sugar! Yay! I've honestly never had a bad meal from Snap Kitchen!! AW SNAP! I think I've found a new place to get my plastic filled healthy food.... I happened to stumble upon the Kitchen when one of the coolers was down and most of the "lunch" items were not available but I did grab a bunch of the dinners. On the menu tonight, "Sambal Tofu." First off, I'm a carni. Wait, carnivore. But this tofu stuff, it had some kick and lots of different ingredients that really made it colorfully appetizing. Listen, I like to eat healthy but I also have a sweet tooth. This place has some awesome cookies for being on the good for ya side. 3 cookies for $3 - ok. I'm game. This is totally my type of fast-food! When I don't have the time to cook or just want more variety, I make a stop at Snap Kitchen to pick up a few meals. Off the top of my head, I'm a fan of the bison hash, the spaghetti and turkey "bolognese," and crusted salmon. Just because it's healthy doesn't mean it can't also taste good! If you're calorie/nutrition counting, the labels make it very easy to track. I thought it was expensive at first, but if you compare it to what you might pay eating out, it's really not bad. This place has generally positive reviews so maybe I just went on an off day and chose the wrong meal. Yesterday was my first time in, and well the staff on hand were not very helpful. A friend and I walked in and were the only customers in there at the time. We were not greeted or even acknowledged. As we entered there was a cooler to the left and a larger selection of meals on the right. We weren't quite sure what the difference was between the meals on either side, and weren't helped so we just chose a side and stuck with it. There was a larger Salad bar (I'm assuming- again we weren't helped but from the menu it sure seemed that way) but I can't quite review that as its not what I had. I picked up the Chicken & Butternut Squash Spaghetti which is supposed to be Gluten free and a Low Sodium alternative. Since when does low sodium equate to no taste? I eat A Taste Of Wellness meals which are also low sodium but are full of flavor, and that is what I expected here- flavor. Unfortunately that was not the case. I've tried many things but the following are my favorites: Scottish Salmon, Truffled quinoa mac and cheese (AMAZING), Green Curry Vegetables with rice, Asian Chicken Salad, and Pulled Pork. These dishes are what I want to eat on a regular basis. Unfortunately, restaurants don't serve this kind of food- healthy yet tasty. A short stroll from where I live, Snap Kitchen was an accidental find -- a good one, very good one. Before Snap Kitchen I was buying from MyFitFoods and it was ok -- it seemed the meals were not quite fresh or they would just go bad quickly. Snap Kitchen takes another path. All organic, non-gmo, non-soy, non-weird foods locally grown as much as possible freshly prepared and assembled into easy to carry containers. The variety of dishes is there. Plenty of Turkey, Chicken, beef, salmon and vegetarian options. I wish the dishes rotated more often. They just did, there are a bunch of new ones as of this week. The food is fresh, tastes good, reasonably portioned. I am very sensitive to previously prepared foods, in fact I try to eat freshly prepared most of the time because of it. However Snap Kitchen dishes have never gone bad on me, never given me stomach aches and are very satisfying meals that keep me full for hours and hours after. Sometimes I wish they had a higher protein content meals -- there are VERY close options, just not as high protein as I would like. I eat Snap meals mostly at work where there are no lunch options and sometimes as breakfast #2 in the mornings. I usually buy 2-3 days worth of meals and don't actually freeze them like some of the other reviewers here. I guess I could try freezing them. Furthermore, everyone at this location is very friendly and courteous. The prices are high, I recommend you get the snap card. I can't tell you how quickly you rack up the points and every 4 weeks I get a week for free pretty much -- that's like $50. Eating paleo on the go would be exponentially more difficult without Snap. The food is tasty and the prices are reasonable. I've only gotten their prepared meals - the meatballs and almond-crusted salmon are my favorites. The former have a nice spicy kick to them and the latter are definitely delicately seasoned, but who needs over-salted, over-herbed salmon? It's salmon. It tastes delicious with just a little olive oil and lemon (or some almond crusting, like Snap does so well). I finally tried their food and must say I was pleasantly surprised. I purchased a salad from the "make your own salad" menu. I also purchased some salmon, a breakfast dish and dessert. I thought everything was pretty tasty. the prices ranged from $2.50 for the coconut macaroons to about $10.00 for the salad. Overall a great experience, everyone was nice and I was in and out fairly quickly. My options: MyFitFoods [ok, in a pinch but not on a regular basis], Bowl [not fast but works for meetings], Whole Foods salad bar or H-E-B sushi bar. I think I got worn out with all the ready-made meal places popping up everywhere. I could usually cook the same thing at home, cheaper and healthier. And while Snap doesn't fit in the 'cheaper' category, they are hands, feets, and whatever else over MyFit. The fresh-made salad options make my eyes light up. And I'm super excited about the paleo options. I'm not paleo per-say, just try to avoid sugars and carbs unless absolutely necessary. Load me up on lean protein and veggies with good spices and I'm a happy camper. And then they showed me the dessert options. Hallelujah! I finally have a place for a single-serve splurge when I can't control the cravings. I'd add a picture of my pulled pork with pickled onions, asparagus and sweet potatoes but it is long gone. Love the spice level of it. And I snagged a meatballs with peppers for dinner since I have a client event tonite and won't have time to cook. This place is FANTASTIC!!! Having recently found out about Celiac (gluten free for 9 weeks now) and coming back to Texas for the first time in years I was pretty nervous about staying gluten free because it's really hard to do so in fake LA (people LIE!), but my nerves were subsided as soon as I walked into Snap. The friendly cashier explained the set up to me, pointing out the TWO items with gluten (THAT'S RIGHT I SAID 2!) and then let me drool over the plentiful options available to me. I got spring rolls, chocolate mousse, bison hash and a kale based snack bowl. Like I said, I live in LA and I have NEVER seen anything like this. I see all of the reviews mentioning My Fit Foods and I am glad that I have never been in. I pass one on my way to work and it looks as (comparatively) gross as the yelpers make it sound, which is probably why I have never been in. Plus, Snap has paleo options?!?!?! INCREDIBLE! This is a great fast food destination in Houston with loads of breakfast/lunch/dinner entrees and an equally impressive collection of sides, soups, salads and desserts that are all pre-packaged and ready to go! Whether you're dropping in to pick up a quick meal or stocking up for the week, the food is flavorful and reasonably priced. I wouldn't characterize this place as vegan as there are a plethora of animal protein entrees, but they do have a solid number of vegetarian/vegan options. While you're going to spend a little more than most "fast" food places, I would argue the food isn't doctored up with loads of fat/sugar and other processed ingredients; health is wealth!! read more

I guess we just have different definitions of good. The Ginger Chicken Stir Fry was so nasty that I forgot what else was served. Quinoa, Edamame, Peppers, Red Onions, Shredded Carrots, Ginger Soy Sauce. Seems like it could work but the taste of ginger just threw everything off. Oh yes, I remember. There was also a chicken spring roll. It was so confused and dry. The flavors didn't go together. Let's take a look: Rice Paper Wrap, Napa & Red Cabbage, Peppers, Carrots, Green Onion, Black Sesame Seeds, Sesame Ginger Dipping Sauce. The trip to Snap Kitchen week before last was my first time and it definitely won't be my last time. I enjoyed the set up of the store - lots of healthy offerings with the ingredients clearly listed for you to either pick up and take home or warm up at the store and enjoy there with some company. I had the veggie "lasagna" which is pasta free and the roasted sweet potatoes. didn't enjoy the microwaves - maybe if they had ovens for certian dishes/for those of us who don't use microwaves and their detox juices are pricey but DELICIOUS! I am a huge fan of Snap Kitchen. The staff is SO friendly and helpful, and they have diverse selections each time I go. I bought a few items to take home, but for lunch today, I ate the Crunchy Coconut Shrimp, which I added a little sriracha to for spice. It was amazing for a dish that I had to warm up in the microwave! It was so flavorful, and the shrimp tasted so fresh and not soggy at all, probably because they encrust it with just coconut flakes, and no breading, or at least that's how it tasted to me. The shrimp is served on a bed of quinoa, and it practically melts in your mouth. I also tried a little bit of my House Smoked Salmon Snack, which was pretty good, but not really my taste. It is definitely filling though. It comes in a small container, but two or three bites is enough for a snack. Can't wait to try my other dishes that I purchased today! read more

As other reviewers have pointed out, Snap Kitchen has a similar model to My Fit Foods, but the quality of the food is much, much better. While MFF tastes machine-produced, just marginally better than a frozen meal, Snap entrees are like the interesting, fresh food I would make for myself if I were better at cooking and less busy (by which I mean lazy). I love having Snap Kitchen just around the corner from the office. When I don't bring a lunch, I know I can pop in and, in 5 minutes or less, walk out with a meal (or a week's worth of meals) that is tasty and healthy. The cost is a little high relative to other lunch options, but for me, the perfect balance of convenience, portion size, nutritional balance and tastiness is worth the higher price. (However, my coworker bought a lemonade there for $7.50... that seems excessive.) All of the entrees I've tried are pretty good. At first the prepackaged meals seemed overpriced for the small proportions, but I powered through and grabbed one of the naked chicken meals and a made-to-order Greek salad. A nice spot for healthy, fresh food! Grabbing salads or entrees to go is their thing. I like the Asian chicken salad, and I also recently tried their one-day juice cleanse. I must be honest--the first five drinks weren't very yummy (but the last drink, the cashew "milkshake," was like dessert!), but it got the job done--I wasn't really hungry throughout the day, and my body felt great afterwards. read more

Worst company I've ever dealt with. I have no clue how this place is still open!!! The food here is awful and overpriced. It's like whoever took over the company is trying as hard as they can to run it into the ground. I have never seen such poor management of a place in my life. I can't foresee them lasting much longer, I'm shocked they made it this far with the awful dog food they market as healthy human food. Don't waste your money. read more
