What a cute spot for breakfast and lunch and their pastries are huge! Definitely worth a stop when on Vashon, though its a bit pricy. I ordered the papusa which was super tasty and served with pickled slaw. Just an FYI that the black beans are actually chili, so definitely a bit different than I anticipated. Hubs ordered the croissant with eggs and salsa, which seemed like a cross between salsa and marinara. The croissant was really good, tho the salsa made the bottom a bit soggy, so may be better for dipping than as a spread on the croissant. Came by to check this place out for breakfast, we got there at a good time around 1030am as there was only a few people in line. A few mins later, the line was like 12 deep. Friendly greetings as we entered, staff leads you right to the sit down menu and the pastry case. We decided to just get some items from the pastry case and a coffee/tea. So many options to choose from so it was tough to decide. They will get your coffee/tea order going, come back in a minute or so to check on which pastry you are choosing. We decided to get: -Breakfast Egg Croissant: It's pretty big so we shared this, egg with mozz cheese, with this pizza like sauce on a warmed up croissant. It takes like 10-15 mins to warm up and they will bring it to you when ready. Pretty good, definitely tasted like you are eating a cheese pizza. We killed this! -Strawberry Cheese Danish: It's also pretty big in size and we also shared this. It was real good, 2 huge strawberries on top, creamy cheese, not overly sweet, yea....we totally killed this later in the day! -Cinnamon Bun: Once again, it's pretty big in size. We took a few bites and ate the rest the following day. To me, it's kind of like a apple fritter and cinnamon bun in one. It had apples in it, at least I think it was. Real good, I would definitely get this again. -Chai tea was great! They brew their own and I'm not even a big tea drinker, but I would totally drink this Chai often. We sat outside on the back patio to enjoy the weather, sun, fresh air, nice ambiance for a weekend breakfast. There's indoor seating option too. Staff was friendly, my first time coming here, we chatted like we were old friends(Adam). Prices are about $4.75 for most of the pastries. Parking lot is small and crowded, so we parked up a few blocks and just walked over. Glad we came by and would come back again when in the neighborhood. Fantastic pastries and ok coffee! I got a house-made chai and it was incredible. The latter we got unfortunately had bad shots in it. The rhubarb scone was to die for; huge, tasty and crumbly. The two cinnamon-type rolls were also delicious. Fair warning though, you have to love cinnamon because they use a lot of cinnamon. My kids were disappointed after eating mouthfuls of straight cinnamon, but I loved it. The oat bar was super yummy as well and heavy as a brick! I bookmarked Snapdragon to grab a post beach hike lunch this weekend. I got the Springtime in Paris without cheese on the recommendation of the cashier. It includes two pieces of bread in an open faced sandwich loaded with lots of veggies. It was surprisingly flavorful and packed a lot of flavors into each bite and was overflowing with veggies. It hit the spot on a cold and drizzly day! My friends got the savory bread pudding and an East Indian Chai. They enjoyed the meal, but decided they aren't a big fan of bread pudding in general, and prefer sweet bread pudding to savory. The shop smelled delightful when we walked in with lots of tasty aromas! We found some cozy seats by the fire to warm up while we waited for our food and throughly enjoyed our time there! read more

This is a review for the Vashon location. The space is lovely with plenty of seating, but in terms of food this was the worst brunch I've had in years. The bread was dry, the mozzarella in the caprese sandwich was somehow melted on the outside and cold on the inside, the croissant for the scrambled egg was croissant wasn't flaky and was heavy and bready inside, and for some reason it had tomato sauce on it. The pastries looked amazing but even they were only okay. Wish we'd gone to the pizza place down the street instead. read more

A casual brunch spot with AMAZING vegan baked goods! There is also spacious and well-distanced outdoor seating both at the front of the bakery and in the back garden (where there are 2 heated fires for warmth). 1) Service (+): Snapdragon was quite crowded on a Saturday around noon with a line out the door but we were able to get seated relatively quickly. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I originally was going to order both a French onion soup and breakfast croissant but the server was so honest and recommended I order only one as it was a lot of food for one person. 2) Ambiance (+): The back garden was covered, accessible to 2 warm fires, and spacious. All staff were wearing face masks and only disposable plates and cutlery were used to maximize COVID safety. 3) Food (+): The breakfast croissant, which featured a massive and perfectly flaky warm croissant sliced and stuffed with scrambled eggs and tomato sauce, was the best I've ever had! The Shepherd's pie was also amazing. I only wished I had enough of an appetite after to try one of the sweet pastries :) 4) Alcohol (+): There is staple brunch drinks like mimosas and bellini's available. 5) Value for Money (+): The price points here are great for the size and quality of the food! read more

I really don't get this place other than it's on an island with such a dearth of options it manages to stay open due to the tourists who arrive in drives on the weekend. It is filthy first off, perhaps this is due to the teenage staff running it or the fact that the health inspectors are so infrequent on the island. Second, the food is not good, it's recipes maybe great when they are being made by the owners/chef but again, teenagers are making this stuff and it's actually pretty gross by the time it's set in front of you, way too much sour,fermented crap that it ruins the dish. Lastly, just because something is huge and sugary doesn't mean it's good, it's just big. Americans buy into this and it seems Vashonities are no different. size over quality. I am writing this after throwing away an entire to go order because it was inedible. read more

This charming, quirky vegetarian bakery is a treasure. The owners are so friendly and kind, especially to newbies like me; I also heard them call nearly every customer by name. Dining solo can be awkward, but not here, thankfully. Not only are you made to feel at home by the lovely staff, but the "cabaret" area has a full-on bookshelf, stocked with everything from coffee table books to novels, and vintage copies of Rilke, which I was happy to savor while waiting for my food. I ordered their hibiscus tea and a veggie sausage Sammy on focaccia. The sandwich was messy, yummy and enormous! And when I mentioned it was my first time in, and on Vashon, Adam hooked me up with their magical pear cinnamon roll... the stuff of sweet and sticky dreams. I adore this place. read more

Such a great little cafe! Good coffee and even better pastries. The cinnamon rolls and seasonal croissants are to die for. This bakery is definitely on the rustic side but does draw a crowd especially on the weekends. The bakery items are all laid out, so that the moment you walk in there are over 20 items to choose from. I wish there were labels for the baked goods. I had no idea what they had to offer and with the long line the customer service was curt. I ended up with the cranberry scone and raspberry scone. I had originally ordered a strawberry scone but somehow when I left the store and bit into the scone it had raspberry jam filling. It would probably be nice if the items were labeled for the workers too, to avoid mistakes in orders. The scone were huge and bigger than palm size. The dough was a bit much compared to the filling but definitely worth your money. We liked the tartness of the raspberry jam with the cream cheese, and would stop by if we are in the area again. You know you love a place when you plan a day-trip and ride a ferry JUST to eat there again. After making a 2nd trip recently, Snapdragon has certainly left an imprint on my heart and belly. Rewind to Christmas eve 2020, I planned a day trip to Vashon with friends to do something different and explore the island for the very first time. I put together a rough agenda of parks/views and some places to eat and drink. With covid still being very much in full swing, certain places were operating under limited hours, closed, or doing outdoor dining only. Being that it was December 24th, this made things even more tricky. Snapdragon seemed interesting enough for a quick coffee and pastry, so thats where we started. The owner/staff were incredibly welcoming, telling us about their specialty items with a warmth you could feel. We had no choice but to get nearly one of everything sweet and savory to try it all. Indoor dining wasn't a thing, but to our surprise they had a fantastic outdoor area in the back with roaring fire pits to keep warm. We made ourselves at home with coffees in hand while we waited for our food/sweets to be warmed and brought out. The breakfast egg croissant is a must try! The cookies, the pie, the breakfast plates, everything is fantastic. You'll likely get some sweets to go for later or for a loved one back home, I dare you not to. The experience I've now had twice at Snapdragon is often unparalleled. It is a cozy, local, and pridefully run small/family business, and it shows in every ounce of what they do. We visited Vashon for the first time this weekend and stopped by Snapdragon, which was highly recommended to me by a friend! It surpassed every expectation! The place had such a cute and cozy aesthetic, full of funky decor. The pastries were all fresh and looked incredible. The cinnamon roll was as big as my head and chock full of brown sugar. I got a savory bread as well covered in eggplant and garlic and more veggies which was thick and filling, and then another pastry with blueberries that was sooo beautiful. Every single item blew me away, and the pastry itself was delicious stand-alone even without the toppings and fillings. I cant wait to go back and try more! The employees were quick and friendly and answered every question we had about the food available. My only gripe is I wish they had a pastry menu available rather than needing to talk us through everything. They have bigger plates and entrees which all sounded great, and plenty of indoor seating as well. read more

First visit to Snapdragon, looking for bran muffins -- which I learned they don't make any longer. I was tempted to try their cinnamon rolls, which I ordered. (Those I took them home to said they were the best ever... and I agree...!) What left more of an impression than baked goods was how genuinely nice the people there are! Adam asked my name, introduced himself, shook my hand and invited me to have a cup of coffee,-- which was very good. What a wonderful response to a first-time visitor... which made a lasting impression on me. There are a lot of reasons for patronizing a business, and they checked all the boxes of my mental checklist. Thank you for your hospitality, Adam. As a vegan, this must have been hands down the worst culinary experience ever and only marginally preferable to hunger. iI you enjoy exceedingly greasy fare accompanied by an exorbitant bill, ,this is the place for you. My wife and I took my parents out to Vashon while they were visiting us. We stopped by Snapdragon after a short ferry ride. Wow, this place is really great. I wish I would have gotten a picture of all the baked goods in the front of the restaurant. The portions are large, the quality is great. You will definitely enjoy the food experience here. The one thing that was a downside for me was the outdoor seating in the back of the restaurant. The tables and chairs were extremely fragile. It definitely fit the "aesthetic" of an old timey, neighborhood hot spot - but I felt like my table and chair were going to give out at any moment. Other than that, the service was fast and very personable. We will definitely be returning! read more

Can I just say I love VASHON! This is such a cute addition! Saturday Mornings are just perfect with the additions of Pastries and espresso from here! We tried different dishes, like the French toast with seasonal fruits, some Pastries, and their americano coffee! The coffee was strong! The pastries were delicious! I'm actually super obsessed with this place. We came twice in the same weekend while visiting Vashon Island. It was at the recommendation of a colleague, who was NOT wrong. We had the cherry cheese danish, the soup of the day (happened to be a lentil variety that day), sundried tomato pizza of the day, and harissa tofu with kale, slaw and toast. I would not recommend the harissa tofu with kale/slaw/toast, because the tofu situation seemed to be missing the mark and the whole thing tasted a bit sour. The toast was fantastic though. Soup and pizza of the day was fantastic. The bakery choices are insane, and all delectable. The decor indoors/outdoors provides a large amount of seating and is quite unique in its charm. It's just a fun place to sit and eat. The one thing I would recommend is that the prices for the bakery goods in the display- I could be missing something but it became a bit of a challenge so I was not really able to work backwards from my final receipt (which just had the total sum). read more

I ordered the apple cinnamon bun and it was amazing! The outside was a bit crisp/dry the inside did not disappoint. They didn't have a wide section of coffee unfortunately. It tasted subpar for me. OH MY PASTRIESSSSS....this is the place to make a worthwhile stop if you're visiting Vashon Island. :) Seriously, hands down one of the best bakeries I have been in awhile. So so good that I had to stop by here twice during my island visit. If you're a fan of baked goodies, highly recommend getting the cinnamon roll. It's HUGE, delicious, and definitely one of a kind. For other food options, most of the pastries are around the $3+ range, and meals being in the $$ range. Had an opportunity to try out: Curried Hash - quite delicious, huge portion, and overall, perfect savory dish to balance out some sweets Toad in the Hole - really clean and healthy breakfast. Love the avocado spread on the house made bread. Egg sandwich - SO YUMMY! Absolutely one of the best egg sandwiches I had in a long while. One bite into the cheesiness + tomato + egg + crispy crossiant = your tummy in food happiness. :) Love how the texture of this item was like a mini lasagna. Interior: Very rustic and cozy.
